Multi-Touch Trackpad in Windows 7 Pro x64

Macbook Pro Unibody
OSX 10.5.8 (Leopard)
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Bootcamp 2.1
Trackpad Update 1.1
Just upgraded my Boot Camp partition from Win XP x32 to Win 7 x64. Or rather, I did a clean install, not an upgrade. I'm running all of the above listed stuff. Muti-Touch isn't working on the tack pad, so I don't have RMB functionality and I'm really missing two finger scrolling.
Also, looking in the Boot Camp Control Panel, I don't appear to have any trackpad options, even after installing the trackpad update. I just tried installing it again, and I get a message saying that it won't update my drivers for the tackpad because what I'm trying to install isn't better than what I already have. That's all well and good, but the pad still isn't working with multi-touch.
Any helpful suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I didn't do anything proactive to get it to work, just the things I mentioned above. Installed Boot Camp 2.1, installed the Trackpad 1.1 update, uninstalled Boot Camp 2.1, Installed Boot Camp 3.0. Side scrolling just started working.
The only thing that's a tad finicky is multi-touch RMB. It works, more or less, but, for example, if I RMB on a bookmark in Firefox to access it's properties (let's say I want to rename it), I have to hold my two fingers down in the click position as as I move the cursor into the conext menu. Otherwise it will launch the bookmarked page. So you can't just two-finger-click on something to evoke a context menu, let go, then use one finger to navigate to the option you want, which is how I would expect it to work.

  • X201 multi touch driver for windows 8 x64?

    Hi
    I'm using X201 (3093-96G) and I'm testing Windows 8 Release Preview.
    The most is working fine.
But two things are not working:
    - multi touch
    - finger print reader
    Have anybody better experiences?
Are there driver for windows 8 already?
    thank you for any help

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    FIXED IT !
I downloaded (from my backup, driver version 3.1.1.3, driver date 12.01.2011, but I did Win7 fresh re-install and fresh drivers in October 2012) the old win7 driver installation files ( that I used before win 8 upgrade) to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MTouch, went to Device Manager and selected "unknown device", which I knew was the Wacom Tablet, because all other drivers are just fine and working.
then select - right cklick - update driver software... - browse my computer for updated driver software - and browsed manually to the directory C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MTouch, check Include subfolders and click NEXT !
A warning appeared that the driver is the correct one, but hw device can not be found, after restart multitouch is working !!!
In dev manager there was exclamation mark on wacom tablet but it WORKed and the pen as well !!
Now I tried the "newer" tablet driver from Lenovo (todays download), but Windows 8 REFUSED IT !!! sayin that it estimated that I already have the best driver for my device !!
Now I was able to procced the full install by running setup.exe from used driver install directory and I must restart windows now, lets hope it still works after reboot

  • Multi-touch trackpad in Windows 7?

Ok, so I know that there is not a driver for windows 7 yet with the trackpad. But Windows 7 is built upon Vista so the drivers should work with no problems. The only thing is that when I try to install the driver it tells me that "This update is not intended for this computer and will not be installed". Ok... I get that, but is there a way to decompress the .exe to extract the drivers? Then I could just use the add new hardware feature and install them manually. I am really getting tired of using two finger clicks to right click.

This is exactly what i did, and its works for me ( tap click, 2 finger right click, 2 finger scroll )
    1. Down load this file:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/186372631/Archive.zip
    2. Manually install 2 files Applemultitouch, Appletrackpad
    3. Reboot.
    4. Update the "new mutitouch driver" as described in my original message.
    5. Reboot.
    6. Go to Control Panel, Boot Camp, customize the behavior of you touchpad
(PS. FYI I did try the compatibility mode,as some one said, DID NOT WORK!) This message is written in my
Boot camp 7, with the "new" 2-finger touchpad!

  • Keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad may become unresponsive on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)

    Folks,

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013): Keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad may become unresponsive
Has anone tried to apply this patch on 15 inc ?
    Kind Regards,
    Neroshige

The patch is only for MBP late 2013 13 inch. 15 inch is not able to install this patch
    I'm facing this problem intermittently.
When my keyboard & trackpad went unresponsive, I plug in my USB keyboard and the keyboard & trackpad went back normal.
I search the web and somebody highlight it may due to connector to keyboard/trackpad appear to be curled.
Not sure is hardware problem or software bug...

  • How to use the multi-touch trackpad to adjust icon size?

    After I upgrade my OS X 10.6 to 10.9.2, I lost.
Everyday I search the forum to look for the "feeling" of using Mac OS (migrate from windows to OS X10.6). The OS X 10.6 is just great.
Now the questions, how to use the multi-touch trackpad to adjust icon size with simple pinch open or close gesture?
    Thank you.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're users here and don't speak for "Apple Inc."
Using the multi-touch trackpad to 'zoom' in or out is temporary.
The best way to permanently change icon size on the Desktop is to Command+click on an empty place on the Desktop screen and select Icon Size from the Desktop preference pane:

  • Multi-touch trackpad is not working correctly anymore

My multi-touch trackpad is not working - it stops working after the first 10 seconds.
    It is since today.
After reboot it works for the first 10 seconds - then it is like it needs to have a few seconds for reaction.
Any idea for the permanent blocking of the cursor?

That's really bizarre! I've been experiencing the same problems. Today my three/four finger multitouch gestures stopped working altogether! Nothing seemed to resolve the problem (restart, shut down, etc).I did however follow your advice of creating a new user account and logging in to see if multitouch works...low and behold, it worked! I then logged off and signed back into my primary user account and multitouch continued to work! This must be a software issue (I'm guessing). I just deleted the temporary user account and everything seems to be working fine. I set up a Genius Bar appointment for tomorrow - I'll see if they have any further suggestions.

  • HT3986 Apple multi touch trackpad  problems on Windows 7 64 bit bootcamp

After installing Windows 7 on Mac Pro (2011) double tap gesture on Apple mult touch tackpad does not work . Any ideas ?

Yes I did that but although the trackpad worked it did not respond to the  tap rather than left clicking  - After posting the query I discovered, following a search of how to switch operating systems, that 'Control Panel/Bootcamp'  revealed adjustments that can be made to the trackpad & it now works - Thanks for you help anyway.

  • When do we get 32 Bit Multi touch Drivers? (Windows 7)

    Computer: HP TX2z
    Operating system: Windows 7 Home
I am a little frustrated that over six weeks after the release of the 64 Bit drivers for our multi touch screens there is still nothing available for us 32 bit users. All I see is comments that they will be released "soon".
I was using the RC of Windows 7 and the Beta N-trig drivers and they worked perfectly together.  It was a really fantastic machine to use - with smooth scrolling within web pages and zooming.  On the weekend I bought and upgraded to Windows 7 Home and I have been left with a very bitter taste in my mouth.  There are no longer any N-trig drivers to support windows 7 - not even beta.
I am currently running the Vista drivers in compatability mode.  These drivers do not work with most programs - meaning that while I can pinch to zoom in photos, I can scroll in IE8.
    When should we expect drivers?

I used a moblitymodder to fix this problem and installed the 10.6 ATI catalist. That fix it. plus I got alot better graphics and performance for my games.

  • How to click on Multi-touch Trackpad

Please excuse my ignorance, I have an early macbook with a button to click.
I am trying to assist my brother with a project using his newer macbook with a multi-touch glass trackpad and I messed up the settings because I am not used to the touch to click. I unchecked that option in system preferences and now cannot click anything. Meaning, I am stuck on the system preferences page and cannot do anything because I do not know how to click without a "click" button.
Please, if you can, get back to me ASAP.
    Thanks.

Thanks Chris. I am in the process of getting a usb mouse to change back the preference as that is the only way I can get it back to working status, as per applecare. Thanks again bro.

  • Activating Multi-Touch on Older MB Pro

I have an older Macbook Pro with 2 Ghz Intel Core Duo. I read that in SL I will have the extra multi touch capabilities. How do I get these to work?
the MBP i have now allows for the two finger scroll, so wouldn't that qualify it for the new additions?

That’s a shame, was hoping it would work. Mine is a 2007 17inch MBP 2.33ghz intel core 2 duo. Was described as being multi touchpad and looks like the same. 2 fingers works well.
If it doesn’t work, may be Apple should have been a bit more careful with wording that it would work on older mac books
    Cheers

  • TS5296 MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013): Keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad unresponsive

Brand new Macbook PRO Retina 15inch. (1 day old) Running 10.9
    EFI 1.2 installed.
Keyboard/trackpad hangs when using the left USB.
The EFI update 1.3 apparently fixes this issue for the 13inch macbook pro.
I have a 15inch macbook pro. The EFI update 1.2 does not resolve this issue for me.
Whenever I plug something into the left USB, after the 2nd or 3rd time, the keyboard and trackpad become unresponsive. To get the keyboard/trackpad back again, I must restart the machine.
This is what the consol says:
    Nov 12 11:29:56 leaf kernel[0]: AppleUSBMultitouchDriver::_deviceSetReport - DeviceRequest returned error 0xe000404f (interface 1, reportID 0xac, payload 2
Nov 12 11:29:56 leaf kernel[0]: AppleUSBMultitouchDebug: _deviceSetReport returned an error in configureDataMode
    Nov 12 11:29:56 leaf kernel[0]: AppleUSBMultitouchDriver::_deviceSetReport - DeviceRequest for reportID 0xac returned with result 0xe000404f - retrying
I cannot install the EFI update 1.3 as I get an alert "This software is not supported on your system." I assume because it was made only for the 13inch.
Is this a hardware or firmware issue? If it's only firmware, why does this issue only affect some users? If it's hardware, should I just return this macbook?

I can reproduce the behavior at will. I just have to plug in the tablet on the left USB board, reboot the tablet, disconnect the cable and reconnect. At that moment the trackpad and keyboard will both freeze.
This is the complete sequence of console logs I have

Disconnecting the tablet doesn't resolve the issue. A reboot does. I still have to try if the workaround posted by Apple for the MBP-13 Late 2013 (close the lid and reopen after a few minutes) would work here too.

  • Multi-touch trackpad gestures not working (Macbook pro 15" unibody)

    Hi,
I have a 5 day old Macbook Pro and since yesterday ive been having an intermittent fault with the 3 and 4 finger gestures on the track pad. They stop working and don't even work on restart. the computer needs to be shutdown then turned on again for it to work. When it wasn't working, i created a new user account and switched to that and it worked fine, when i switched back to my account it carried on working fine as well. I do have parallels installed with windows xp but use that rarely and the problem hasn't occurred when i have that on (only reason i mention is is that i noticed the fault a few hours after installing parallels). One of the times the problem occurred is when the computer came out of standby.
Is this a software issue or hardware issue? Does apple know about it and are they making a fix?
    Thanx!!

    Thanks!

  • MacBook Pro Retina 13' late 2013: built-in keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad may become unresponsive after HDMI unplug

At my desk I usually plug 2 external monitor (one via HDMI, one via Display port) and an external APPLE USB keyboard and BT touchpad.
Most of the time I unplug the HDMI cable the built-in keyboard and touchpad stop working.
This is very annoying issue because I have to force a shutdown to fix that.
Only sometimes it got fixed by plugging back the HDMI cable.
I already patched with MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update v1.3 and Issue persists.
Is there anyone else with the same issue?
Any idea on how to fix it?

Have you done an SMC reset lately? Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    May or may not work.

  • Multi-touch trackpad not working on new MBP

I know I've seen this listed elsewhere, but I have something to add to the conversation.
My MBP does not seem to recognize the Advanced trackpad functionality.
I go into the System Preferences and first, the Keyboard/Mouse option takes a long time to load, and then the advanced features show up without a checkbox next to them. I've gone into iPhoto and tried the pinch-zoom and it doesn't work.
Could this be due to the fact that I used Migration Assistant from an older model MBP? Wouldn't it have brought over my System Prefs as well?
Just trying to get this figured out.
    topher

I presume you are still able to use the trackpad but without the advanced features. I've been searching for the possibly simpler options to try. One of these is to remove any preferences relating to the trackpad from the Libraries which store these. What should happen if you do this is that the system will recreate these files and enable standard usage of the relevant software/hardware if the software/hardware is in good order.
You can also check System Profiler to make sure that it is detecting your keyboard/Trackpad.
I've located several files that might affect your situation. Moving the preferences out doesn't worry me very much but I'm not sure what will happen if you move a +preference pane+ out. There is a pp that relates to keyboard/trackpad in /system/library/preferencepanes/.
Preferences that you can remove fairly safely are:
    /users/(yourusername)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
I don't know what settings this will remove but it might free up system preferences to allow the advanced features to be set.
Beyond this the only suggestion I can make is that you do an 'archive and instal' of the system to get a brand new system running.
