Multi-track duration issue when inserting clips

I apologize if I missed this anywhere. Tried to search first.
I'm using Audition cs6 and I have a clip in my waveform viewer. I have already created a new multi-track session that matches the specs of the source files.
HOWEVER, when I make a selection on the source file and select "Insert into multitrack" and then select the session, it inserts it 14-hours and 22-minutes into the blank 30-second session. This throws off the whole viewing slider and it becomes very difficult to manipulate the timeline. If I simply drag the file from the browser and then re-trim it, it's fine, but not using the insert command.
Why is this and is there a way to correct this?
Any help would be wonderful

It sounds like the file has BWF Time Reference metadata embedded. You can verify this by opening Window > Metadata and under the BWF tab, check the Time Reference field. To disable this behavior, uncheck Preferences > Multitrack > Use embedded timecode when inserting clips into Multitrack.

Hi, From the error message it looks like the access profile settings for the WS user doesn't have required privileges to create a note for contact. You make have to check access profile settings first and then try it

Is it possible to lock audio tracks so they do not fragment when inserting clips into the video line - Elements 13

The question says it all. If the answer is no, is there a work around? I'd really appreciate help with this - very frustrating (but possibly simple when you know how)

The video mentioned here is from Premier Elements 8. A major overhaul of the interface came with version 11. One of the Top Participants on this forum is Steve Grisetti. He has created the courses at that website for versions 11, 12 and now 13. Steve is both very knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. Without his course, I would be struggling with video editing.
The system at Lynda.com is to "subscribe" for the price of $25 a month. Steve's course contains 4 hours of content so it might take a week or two to complete. Lynda.com allows you to cancel your subscription and access will stop at the end of the 30 days you've paid for. In other words, for $25 you can quickly gain a full understanding of how PrE 13 works!
There is free help all over the internet, but none is organized into a complete, organized and comprehensive course like Steve's. I give my most enthusiastic recommendation to taking this course.

Strange PDC issue when inserting compressor on a group with side chain

Hi Forum People!
Seem to have hit a brick wall trouble shooting this issue, and hope someone here can help.
Whenever I insert a compressor on a bus, and send a sidechain trigger to the compressor, PDC stops working for all multi-output synths. I can sidechain stereo tracks without an issue, but not group tracks with mutliple tracks routed through the groups.
For the record, as soon as I remove the send to the sidechain, PDC works normally.
Is this a limitation of Logic's PDC, or is there a workaround that I haven't discovered?

LOL! Sorry, didn't have time to respond yesterday. The problem was the way in which I'd set-up the group. Here's how I had the group set up, which broke PDC:
I created an auxiliary track (the group), inserted a compressor, and routed my drums direct to this group.
Here's how I fixed the problem:
instead of creating an aux channel for the group, I routed my drum outputs through an unused bus, which in turn created the group channel automatically.
I've only been using Logic for 1 month, having used Cubase for nearly 20 years, so realizing some things are done very differently.

Issues when Insert and Analyze at the same time

Hi All,
We have a weekend job that used to take 12-15 hours usually and insert around 8 millions of records to a table from external table. Last weekend the same load took 60 hours and it move to Monday and there are some business impact.
While we investigate the same issue we identified that there is one more weekend analyze job for all the tables and indexes and took around almost same time and we noticed that the table we inserted the 8 million records alone it took around 15 hours. This table now has around 91 Core records.
We need to identify why this jobs taken long time as almost 4 times compare to the normal scenario.
I would like to know what exactly happen when Analyze and insert happened to the table at the same time. And What all issues can occur because this.

It is unclear what version you are using as you forgot to post that.
Furthermore it is unclear what 'Analyze' is, as analyze statistics was already deprecated in 9i.
Secondly, most people is this forum speak English, and they are accustomed international units only.

Quality issue when moving clips from events to project

When I drags clips or parts of clips from events to my project, the quality drops significantly (blocking).
Original clip (H264 encoded SD video) is fine, when imported into imovie it is still fine when skimmed/viewed in the event but as soon as draged into the project, the quality is bad (when skimmed/viewed in the project) and blocking occurs, especially in dark parts of the video. Of course this bad quality remains on the exported video :-(((
Any idea where this might come from and how to overcome it ?

Apologies for bumping this again, but I'm getting the same issue and I'm wondering if it's the original HD files that are incompatible in imovie. It's odd that only a few of us are reporting it.
I'm capturing HD video in mov format (motion jpeg) from a panasonic FZ5 still camera. The footage has been imported via iphoto. It's 30fps - not the native uk frame rate - but I can't change this on the camara. When I edit in imovie, I get the same massive drop in quality as soon as I move an event to the timeline. Blocking especially on blocks of colour. This happens on playback from the timeline within imovie and on export. I've tried creating a project in both pal format and ntsc in case the frame rate is the issue. No joy. In Final cut the problem seems not to exist, but I'd prefer to manage these very simple home movies in imovie.
I'm now wondering whether to switch to a different still camera like the newer panasonics or sony hx5 as these capture in avchd (presumably 25/50 fps if sold in uk) and might get over the problem. any thoughts?

Performance issue when inserting into spatial indexed table with JDBC

We have a table named 'feature' which has a "sdo_geometry" column, and we created spatial index on that column,
CREATE TABLE feature ( id number, desc varchar, oshape sdo_gemotry)
CREATE INDEX feature_sp_idx ON feature(oshape) INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX;
Then we executed the following SQL to insert about 800 records into that table(We tried this by using DB visualizer and
our Java application, both of them were using JDBC driver to connect to the oracle 11gR2 database) .
insert into feature(id,desc,oshape) values (1001,xxx,xxxxx);
insert into feature (id,desc,oshape) values (1002,xxx,xxxxx);
insert into feature (id,desc,oshape) values (1800,xxx,xxxxx);

Performance of insert with spatial index
It takes nearly 1 secs for inserting one record,compare to 50 records inserted per sec without spatial index,
which is 50x drop in peformance when doing insertion with spatial index.
However, when we copy and paste those insertion scripts into Oracle Client(same test and same table with spatial index), we got a totally different performance result:
more than 50 records inserted in 1 secs, just as fast as the insertion without building spatial index.
Is it because Oracle Client is not using JDBC? Perhaps JDBC was got something wrong when updating those spatial indexed tables.

Normally JDBC use auto-commit. So each insert can causes a commit.
I don't know about Oracle Client. In sqlplus, insert is just a insert,
and you execute "commit" to explicitly commit your changes.
So maybe this is the reason.

X1 Track Pad issue when used with ultraslim powersupply

This is a really strange issue, Anyone else having it?
X1 I5 160Gb SSD 8Gb Ram Mix it with a Ultra slim PSU (41R4538) and the track pad starts playing up intermittently. Unplug the PSU and it works fine. Use the native PSU and it works fine. Do you think I have a faulty PSU ?

Forall issue when inserting on remote table

when I run this code, it works:

but when I try to do the same on a remote table(same structure):

all inserted values are null...

I've got very similar problem some months ago. After some back and forth stage I've realized that the problem was in some expressions in source query that used locally defined PL/SQL functions. It appeared that Oracle tried to execute this local functions on remote server and finalyy I've got an error
ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object <schema>.<package name>@<local server url>
When I removed the calls to local functions everything began to work fine.
What are exact expressions for columns in your
select col_1,...,col_n
from local_table
Are there any function calls there?

RSH1 issue when insert values

i wan to create a material group hierachy base on char 0matl_group. when i insert values into the it, only a few of material group values show on the list. but infact, there are more than 5,000 records for master data 0matl_group.
what's the problem?

Hi,
First check if your 0matl_group is activated.
As you said 5000 records in 0matl_group. but those would be repeat values. In RSH1, you will see only unique values while insertion. There will be very few uniqiue values.

Gray background issue when inserting a Jpeg into word.

Good Day,
I created a logo image in AI and exported it to a Jpeg file. When I insert it into Word 2014 it prints out as having a light gray back ground. When it's in either AI, PS or Word it looks great with no sign of the gray background. Does anybody have an idea how to fix it? I'm creating our company logo and it wouldn't look good if our customers saw the same background color. Thanks in advance.

What kind of color mode is the JPEG? RGB or CMYK?
Have you opened the JPEG in Photoshop and measured the background - which volor code is it?

Why do selections from waveforms insert into a multi track at the 14 hour mark?

Currently having an issue on Audition (Creative Cloud) where every time I highlight a section from a waveform and send it to a multi track, it inserts it at around the 14 hour mark, making my original timeline of around 5 minutes a pain to work on. Even with an edit undo, the timeline still remains at a stupid length making navigating very difficult.
Any suggestions on how I can solve this? I've worked on other versions of Audition before and never had this issue.

Audition has the ability to import files into the Mulitrack at the Timecode specified within the file header. You can turn this option off in the Preferences/Multitrack page by unticking "Use embedded timecode when inserting clips into Multitrack".

Issues with cursor properties in Multi-Track and highlighting in Waveform

Hi all. Any suggestions for making the mouse work as in 3.0? In multi-track, I need left-click to select regions and right-click to only move files around. When I'm working with short clips in longer show segments, the short clip is often times so visibly small that I can't right-click on it to move - right-click only brings up "spline-curves" on either side of it, which is of no use to my workflow at all. I'd also ask for the ability to highlight with the shift-forward arrow combo again. I used that extensively in show editing on the fly in 3.01 and find myself going mad without it. Other than these inconveniences, I'm adapting nicely to CS6 so far. MP2 support was a most-welcome add for my line of work.

Hi Darren,
The Left-Click to Time Select, Right-Click to Move behavior should work as expected if you have the Time-Selection tool selected. If you right-click and drag a clip it will move, if you drag in the clip header, it will drag a proxy and you can choose to move, copy, or create a unique clip.
To select the next clip in a track, the default shortcut is ALT+Right Arrow on Windows, OPTION+Right Arrow on Mac. You can customize this under Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts > Edit > Select Next Clip in Selected Track.
The SHIFT+Arrow Keys shortcut to make a selection is a little different than before, but should be more flexible. With the playhead where you want it you can press SHIFT+CTRL+Right Arrow to begin a selection forward, or SHIFT+Left Arrow to begin a selection backward. Once the selection above a certain minimum duration exists, SHIFT+Left/Right Arrow will adjust the In-Point, CTRL+Left/Right Arrow will adjust the out-point. These can all be customized under Keyboard Shortcuts > Edit > Adjust ...

How can I stop sound track from being divided when adding clips to other tracks in PrE12?

The situation:
I have a project with several minutes of video clips on the timeline (expert view) in "Video 1/Audio 1." There is also music on the sound track (below the empty "Narration" track).
Any time I make an edit to the Video 1 track, PRE cuts the Sound Track. (Note that this is not the Audio 1 track, it's the sound track which is two tracks away.) If I insert a clip, the Sound Track is cut and left with a gap. Same if I do a FreezeFrame insert. This is bad enough (make ten insertions, have the Sound Track chopped into ten separate pieces), but it gets worse: when I try to slide the Sound Track pieces back together, the Video 1 clips will be moved around.
This appears to be a major bug but I'm hoping there is a simple way to deal with it.
Here's what the Manual (p.71) has to say about it (not much).
"When you insert a clip into the Expert view timeline, adjacent clips on all tracks shift to accommodate the new clip. By shifting all clips together, the audio and video of the existing clips remain in sync."
* The question here is, adjacent to what? The Sound Track is a continuous music clip of many minutes; it is alone on the Track, and there is nothing on the track above it (Narration track). So it's not adjacent to anything, and yet it is being chopped up.
The Manual continues:
"Sometimes, you don’t want all clips to shift with each insertion. For example, when you add background music that superimposes the entire movie, you don’t want clips to shift."
*They got that right, but they don't say anything about how to prevent it.
This next makes no sense at all:
"To shift specific clips togather, press the Alt key as you insert. At a time, you can shift specific clips simultaneously on a maximum of two tracks. These include the track receiving the insertion and the track containing the linked audio or video (if any). The affected tracks shift together, remaining aligned. The clips on other tracks are unaffected."
*There is no mention of how to specify what clips would be shifted, or not.
I'm not dealing with linked clips. And they tell me how to shift clips (sort of) but nothing about how to stop clips from being cut up and shifted. This all makes it very hard to create a coordinated product.
Any suggestions or solutions will be much appreciated.

I wll try this--but I still am unclear on how to do what the Manual says is possible: select clips on another track that WILL be moved, if I so desire, so as to remain synched to the main Video track.
UPDATE:
In the case of inserting Freeze Frame, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
1. Put Video on Vid1 track
2. Put Music on Sound Track
3. Ran a few seconds of Vid
4. Stopped Vid, selected Freeze Frame
5. Held down Ctrl key while clicking "Insert in Movie" also tried with holding down Alt key.
Result: a 3 second still was inserted int the Vid1 track. A corresponding gap was created in the Sound Track.
6. Slid the final part of the Sound Track to the left along the timeline to re-connect it to the next segment created by the above process.
Result: the video following the final Freeze Frame was pushed to the right end of Video1 track.
7. Slid the Sound Track all the way to the left.
Result: the entire Video 1 Track contents were pushed to the right and divided in pieces.
I documented each step with screen shots which I can send if you want them and if I can figure out how to do it.
UPDATE #2
In the case of inserting a video clip to the Timeline, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
1. Locate video in Project Assets
2a. R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), hold down Ctrl, click Insert to Timeline.
Result: Vid clip is inserted on Video 1 track, Sound Track is separated with a corresponding gap.
2b. R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), push Alt
Result: pull-down menu disappears as soon as Alt is pushed down.
I can stil drag the Vid clip but it's one more manual step...I love shortcuts!!

Audio Drop out when editing in Waveform / No Multi track File

Ok so i have a bigger problem. Therefore thats why i am reposting.
I have a 40 minutes video and the last scene needs alot of audio editing. I am trying to export the 8 minute scene to a Multi Track project for soundtrack pro. When i click send to multi track project, i click "Include background video" however when i click save, it exports then gives me the error "Error Sending Selection to Soundtrack Pro" however when I uncheck the "include background video" i am able to open up soundtrack pro and see all the audio tracks but the video is absent.
Its just the multi track that i am unable to do. I am able to export as a Audio File Project and still the video. However when i try to do nosie reduction the audio plays for a few seconds then stops.

Seems like you have a point about the "hardware" issue. I'm unsure (new to it all) at what data rate my (er...wonderful) fusion drive provides FCPX for smooth playback - or where I can find that info on the iMac. Playing back movies in the 422 HQ codec seems to have no issues (when I converted the movie from 4444 HQ).
But playing the full 4444 HQ, the picture is smooth, but the audio has these drop-outs - even with "best performance" option ticked. Interesting that the audio suffers, not the picture in FCPX - so not sure what's going on there. I also read - perhaps - that to play a smooth ProRes 4444 HQ movie in FCPX the data rate should be min of 500 Mbs (based upon About Apple ProRes) for HD movies and up (i.e. 2k). ProRes 422 HQ needs a data rate of 220 Mbs - so that is my upper-limit to smooth video&audio playback with the current system I have, I guess.
Does anyone recommend a fast USB3 or Thunderbolt drive (500Mbs+) where I am able to run 4444HQ movies with no issues to picture or sound (away from the fusion drive)?
