Multicam changing audio tracks

Hi,
I have edited a project in FCP X using Multicam.  All has been good, its a learning curve but seemingly not too steep.  However, having finished the edit and exported it I notice that I have used the wrong camera for the sound track and want to change it to the sound from the other camera.  I thought that it would be as easy as opening up the edit, and then selecting the other audio.....for me not so.....Can anyone give me in simple terms some instructions on how to do it.  I feel I'm missing a probably simple step to achieve this.  Thanks.

Select your multicam clip in the timeline, go to the inspector, click "Info" and choose the one you want under "Active audio angle".

  • Audio selection in Cs5.5 Encore auto plays rather then just changes audio track

I am an Encore newbie after moving from DVD SP to Encore for blu ray menu authoring. Ive read and re-read the help files and they seem to be the same for Encore versions going back to at least cs3 for this issue ... so i must be doing something wrong or Encore just cannot do a very basic thing...
I am building a blu-ray with a singel video track and 2 audio tracks. I am trying to link a menu to allow a user to select a 5.1 or 2ch version of audio for a feature film. All shoudl be straightforward. i have a menu with several buttons. Each button links to an audio track in my timeline.
However, when i test my links, instead of just changing the audio and returning to the menu (as per the instructions in the help files ), the film plays from the beginning.
The correct audio track is played, but that is not my intention at that point. I want the user to choose the audio track and then allow the user to press another play button or go to another menu and back again before the film starts.
So how do i just change the audio track but not play it there and then ?
The help says use 'specify link' so i choose that option and select the timeline, yes, select the audio track 1 or 2, yes. But there is no different way to do this if i actually wanted to play the track at that time as well. What is the fundemental bit i am missing here ? Something to do with button type or some werid overide setting i am missing ? Can Encore actually do this ? its rather frustrating having come from using DVD SP which allows you to script everything and set gprm/sprm registers, to a program that does not seem to allow you to do anything beyond very very basic authoring.
Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

To return to menu after changing the audio or any subtitle track, you should select the desired menu in the Specify Link option and change the audio and subtitle accordingly.
In the example above, what I have done is, I went to the Specify Link, chose the menu as the target and also changed the audio track there and clicked OK
So here, after pressing Button 3 (Item 3), I would return to the menu and my aduio would be reset to audio track 2.
After that, whatever timeline I play, that would be played with audio track 2.
That is just a small example to show how it is done. Set the navigation as you like.

  • How to change audio track on a flv-video during streaming?

    Hello ,
I would like to stream a flv-video, but every time with
    different audio-track.
So how can I change the audio track on a video-stream? Is
there any server-side solution for this?
I used to stream the audio on different stream - parallel
with the video stream -, but because of synchronization problems,
    it didn't work.
    Any idea?
    Thanks

Thanks for the helpful response.  I'll check out the the options available for shaping the sound with eq, efx and amp sims as you suggest.
It still would be helpful to know if I change an audio track (.aif file) into a midi track in GarageBand or in some other software so I can change the instrumentation of the track from piano to another instrument.
    Thanks again!

  • CS3 Multicam Multiple Audio tracks, only audio from Cam 1 plays

In Premiere CS3 I have 4 Cam edit I have all tracks, video and audio on main timeline. I also have audio from a DAT recorder on a seperate audio track. Everything is sync'd. I created my multicam edit sequence and nested my edit sequence into it. How can I get the audio track from the DAT to work on the nested sequence? It seems that the only audio I hear is that from Camera 1. What I would like to have is the audio from camera 3 AND the DAT recording. It is a live music performance and I want the audio captured from the House mixer which is really clean but I would also like to have the audio from oner of the cameras for ambient house sound. You know, sing alongs, yelling and clapping. After all, it IS a IVE performance. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
See also my posting on the issue "Multicam is extrmely slow".
    In short:
Make a timeline with all sources and sync them all, make sure everything is ok.
Then make a copy of this timeline and disable all video except one (for reference). Name it "Sound"
Move all soundtracks of your first timeline down to free soundtrack one.
Drag the sound track of "Sound" to track 1 of the first timeline. Then go on with the normal method for multicam (new timeline "Target", drag Source on it and enable multicam)
Any adjustmentsa needed in the sound can now be done in one place; Time line "Sound"
For performance reasons it might me better to drag the sound track of "Sound" directly to "Target" and disable soundtrack 1 (from Source). Disadvantage then is that removing parts from this multicam timeline needs the same removal from the soundtrack (on 2).
Hmmm, now I am writing this, can I unlink in Target the video and soundtrack and link soundtrack 2 to videotrack 1? Have to try that.

  • How do you change audio track of iMovie?

I looked in Help and didn't find an answer to changing out my audio track. Anyone?

The track number refers to the number it is on the original album that you got it from. You can change it in the playlist you have, but it's going to keep that change you made even for the original cd. You could always burn it (will be on multiple cds), name the cd, and then re-import it. If you want to change the track number, that's probably the easiest way. Or you can go track by track in your playlist and change it, and deal with it being changed with the original cd. There's no other way besides clicking on the first track, right click to "get info" and go through the "info" tab and change them manually, as far as I know. You don't have to constantly click get info, either. After you do the first track, hit next and it will go to the next song.

  • Changing Audio Tracks in Multicam

I have a multicam project that I am done editing. Now that I am finished with the cutting, I realize that the audio I was using is from the camera  that got wrecked half way through the shoot.( Motorcycle racing and the camera was on a boot that hit a haybale)
Can I change to the audio from a different camera. I would like to keep the same audio in the entire clip. The sound changes from camera to camera.
    Thanks,
    Randy

I found this tutorial on Mixing Multicam Audio in FCP X. It has some great workarounds for some of the limited audio mixing capabilities when using Multicam. For example, you may want to use more than one camera's audio at the same time but Multicam only allows one at a time. Watch and see. Maybe they'll make this easier some day.

  • Changing audio track

i am having problems changing tracks on my ipod classic 80gig,if a track is playing and i go to another track and press the centre button to play the new track it just carries on with the track that was playing, any help would be great.
    jonx

strange. normally you should be able to play any song, regardless of playlist or anything else.
I don't know since I never used anything besides iTunes, but I think it could very likely be the reason. Your songs show up on the iPod, so they are recognized. But maybe they were transfered not correctly and therefore the iPod can't play them or anything? Try putting some songs on your iPod via iTunes, that's the only way to be sure. If it still doesn't work when using iTunes, take the iPod back to the store and get a new one.

  • Audio Tracks Help

    Hello,
Ok I have a wmv file.  Inserted into timeline.  Audio track goes to track 4.  When I unlink and try to move up to audio track one it doesn't move.  It can't drag.  Not sure if I set something up wrong in my sequence, also I notice in audio tracks 1-3 in the upper right hand corner there is like a double speaker icon.  In track 4 there is only a single one and that is where my track seems to be locked.  Sort of new, so is this something to do with like mono versus stereo??  If so how do I change audio tracks 1-3 to mono or just delete them??
    Thanks

SOUNDBOOTH and or PREMIERE PRO CS3
I have a questions posed to me about SOUNDBOOTH editing.  How can one either in SOUNDBOOTH or in PREMIERE PRO CS3 - edit the playback - so show beat by beat - is that possible?    I'm not musically inclined.   If I want to cut/edit a sound and match it with a similar of another - how can I go about that?
please email me as i'll forget to check here for replies - [email protected]

  • Cannot find alternate audio tracks

I have some m4v files created with 2 audio tracks - 1 Dolby Surround for watching on my imac and one AC3 for watching on my Apple TV
In itunes i can select either track, but cannot select them on my Apple TV
When I hold down play/pause, all I get is a list of chapters.......nothing else
I am running software version 3.0.1

i have many m4v files like this also - 2 audio tracks (dolby surround track 1 and ac3 track 2).
appletv does not give the option to change audio tracks and uses just the ac3 track.

  • Multicam - audio track not indicating source

In CS6 I could keep track of which audio track I was using in a multi-cam edit by the indicators on the audio part of the clip - MC1, MC2 etc
This is no longer a part of CC, only the video component shows the camera source.
Is there any way of getting the indicators back on the audio?
Multicam in CC does do some odd things occasionally with audio, changing the audio source sometimes even though I have 'multi-camera audio follows video' deselected

If you're talking about the source select tabs, in order for them to show there has to be a clip with audio loaded in the Viewer window.

  • How to edit only audio tracks in multicam sequences?

How can I cut only the audio track in a multicam sequence? I need it like in Final Cut Pro: Cut both video and audio, cut only video track x while audio track y remains untouched, cut only audio track x while video track y remains untouched. I can't find any solution. I use Premiere Pro CS6. Please don't recommend CC!

Well, that's another nasty problem with multicam editing in PP. It cuts only the video but not both. The audio track is always that of the first selected clip (of that in the first video track) when I create a multicam sequence. I have manually to open it in the timeline, enable or disable certain audio tracks, go back to the sequence and cut. But when I have to switch the audio for only some camera angles it is impossible, because I can only change the audio track for the whole sequence. Or do I miss something? Maybe it is another cool "design feature"?

  • Multicam-Strange Audio file trunctation when changing cameras

I have a sequence nested as a multicam with audio from one of the cameras in the multicam included in another audio track in the same sequence. When I change angles to the angle with the camera with the audio on it, the audio is deleted from that point in the sequence until the next camera change or cut.
None of the other tracks are affected. I can lock the audio track but then this impairs my efficiency at doing a razor cut to edit the multicam sequence and audio track at the same time.
I suppose I could (and I will) create a separate audio file and put it into the same timeline, but I feel I should not have to do this.
This video and audio happens to be XDCAM EX format.
    Thanks for any advice.

Yeah, sorry it's confusing, let me explain:
I usually edit multicam this way:
I nest the sequence that has multiple cameras/tracks (sourceSequence) into a new sequence, let's call that sequence MCSequence
I also put one or more tracks sourceSequence into MCSequence below the nested soureSequence track. This was I have a reference for all the clips and blank spaces between clips in sourceSequence.
I also use one of the audio tracks of these reference clips as the master audio for MCSequence.
In MCSequence, if I make a camera change, inexplicably the left audio track of the 'reference' cuts that point and is deleted up until the next cut point in MCSequence. This happens to be the exact audio track I need to use which happens to be the XDCAM EX track. The right channel isn't affected, just the left.
Since I'm using that track as my master audio, it's a pain. I want to be able to have a fully edited MCSequence but also have this master audio track as well available so I can perform volume corrections and other stuff, L edits on the audio etc. It's a pain to have to deal with what I think is a strange bug.
Anyway I hope this is clear but I fear it's just a glitch I'll have to deal with.
    Thanks for any advice.

  • Multicam loses audio on cam change

I am editing a multicam sequence, 4 video tracks, one master audio track (it's a music vid.) I can choose cams in the multicam monitor just fine but when I change the cuts either by right clicking and choosing a new cam or slipping/sliding, the audio for the shot I am changing disappears.
    Is this a bug?
    Thanks

Do you have audio set to follow video?
When you change cams in the sequence, are you also changing audio?  (Look at the clip names.)

Is there another way to adjust tempo of loops the faster way, any other technique?

No clue why the final processes have suddenly started to take so long. Two things I'd try: a) capture from an older tape to see if some problem with the new tape is at fault.  And b) check the health of your RAM and the hard drive.
The red frame sounds a bit like a glitch we used to have in OnLocation (actually in its predecessor HDV Rack) which was caused by a partial GOP. But that was a product of HDV Rack recording from the live video stream. It turned out that HDV cameras intentionally interrupt the data stream for an instant upon starting to record--specifically to avoid recording a partial GOP to tape. So my gut says that the tape has partial GOPs at the points where you stopped/started recording.

  • How can I make a synced audio track match the length of selected clips in a multicam seq?

I have a continuous multicam sequence of about 13 minutes containing a synced master audio track recorded from seperate microphones. I want to rearrange scenes from it into my final sequence, but when I select a range of clips to nest the entire length of audio gets pasted into the new sequence. I want to trim the audio to match just the clips I've selected but not lose sync. Is there a way to do this or is nesting not the way to chop up a sequence and rearrange the scenes in it?
    Thanks.
    Mike

Me too!!!  I have a multicam sequence from 2 cameras with the audio staying on camera 1. I also have a seperate, continuous  audio track recorded from microphones which I have synced to the timeline. I'm trying to select a group of sequential clips of different camera angles from the timeline to create scenes which I can insert into a final sequence but in a different order from how they are on the timeline. Let's say I want to take a series of clips that start at 3:30 on the timeline and go until 4:30 on the timeline.  It will contain several cuts between the different cameras and I want to use that section as the first scene of my new sequence. If I select all of the clips in that time period and nest them into a new sequence, I only get the audio from camera 1 on the new TL. If I try window selecting those clips to include the continuous audio track, I get a new TL with 3 minutes and 30 seconds of the desired audio, then the video clips, and then the rest of the audio making a 13 minute TL. I just learned, after searching around, about marking in and out points on my multicam seq. and using the trick of "LIFTing" and then "UNDOing" to keep my  multiseq intact, and then pasting into a new sequence. That works, but I'm only getting the audio track from off the camera. It won't select and lift the section of the other audio track that I want. I'm rushed for time so that's the way I've ended up finishing the video for now. The camera audio is just going to have to do although the mic recording is much better. The more I try to explain this the more confused I get and I'm sure everybody reading it does too. Any ideas?   Thanks!
