Multicast not working with Window2K Network Load Balancing.

I'm using W2K Network Load Balancing (WBLB) for our cluster machines (2
boxes) to load balance between IIS (one IIS instance on each box). Each IIS
instance is a proxy to the weblogic cluster (one app server instance on each
box). Currently I only have a single network card configured for each box,
so I have had to enable multicast support for the WNLB. But if I do this
I'm unable to get multicasting working correctly for the weblogic cluster.
When I run the multicast tester (utils.MulticastTest) one box is able to
receive multicast messages from both boxes, but the other box is only
receiving multicast messages from itself (but not the other box). Does
anyone have any experience with configuring weblogic clustering on machines
          with WNLB also configured?
          Thank you.
          Marko.

Hi
NLB return traffic for UDP would come from the node IPs.
You could use NAT on your firewalls so they come from the same public IP.
Otherwise you'd be looking at something other than MS NLB.

Since you have already done some sort of reset on your Airport Express, you might as well make sure it was a "hard reset" - follow the instructions for a hard reset found at:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108044
Since your Mac is running Leopard, you need to configure the Airport Express using the Airport Utility found in the Applictions->Utilities folder. You cannot install the old software that was supplied on the CD you got with the Airport Express.
In future - if you do something bad with network settings on your Mac, do NOT try to fix it with the Airport Utility. The Airport Utility is only used to configure the Airport Express - and since the problem you have created is on the Mac and not the Airport Express, there is no need to be using the Airport Utility and especially there is no need to be resetting the Airport Express.

  • Airport express not working with optus network

Hi there, the airport express seems not working with my optus network. It is keeping me I cannot access the internet but I do have a wifi signal. Initially I thought there was some problems with Enhernet Wan port on the AE, but after I've done some research I found there might some changes needed to be done with my old router. All I know is im using a NETGEAR router, network type is PPPOE. Also, there were people metioned on the forum that theold modern should be changed to brigdeging mode. I have no idea what is it. Please help. cheers.

Configuration is simple if you start from a factory default condition.  Then connect the Airport to AC power and finally to the Internet modem (or modem/router).  Open Airport Utility on your Mac or other computer and accept all of the recommendations.  After confirming that it works, insert your desired administrative and WiFi passwords.
Do not expect the Airport to respond instantly to the configuration commands.  BE PATIENT!

  • Load Balancing 2012 R2 Session Host Collection with External Network Load Balancer

    Hi,
We are moving from a 2008 R2 Remote Desktop session host deployment to 2012 R2. Previously, we used our Kemp hardware load balancer to distribute load between RDSH servers. We had a connection broker deployed so that if an existing disconnected session was
detected during the initial connection, the user was directed back to that session.
In 2012 R2, we planned to again used the Kemp load balancer to main high availability for our RDSH collection, but are experiencing strange issues. It seems that the RD Connection Broker is also performing load balancing--the result being that initial connections
to the RDSH collection may go to one RDSH server with the least connections through the Kemp, but then be redirected to a different RDSH server by the broker, even when there is no existing session for the user on that second server.
Our question is: Should we not be using the Kemp balancer at all (how would this work)? Or should we disable load balancing by the connection broker (if so...how)?
Further complicating our redirection issue with that the RDSH servers have multiple interfaces--one with public addresses and others with private. The connection broker seems to abritrarily pick among the destination RDSH server's available IP addresses
for the redirection and trying to redirect to a private address will fail. We think we have worked around this by connecting to each RDSH server from a 2008 R2 server's RDSH Configuration console and choosing just the public adapter under the Network Adapters
tab--is there no way to access this setting in 2012 R2?
    Thanks in advance!
    Matthew

    Hi Matthew,
As you are most likely already aware, inn Remote Desktop Services 2012 / R2 the Connection broker uses round robin DNS to load balance.
To simplify things I would recommend that you let the connection broker load balance the sessions and use the KEMP to Load balance the RDweb and Gateway servers.
Have a look at the following articles:

  • IPod touch not working with home network?

I know this question has been brought up dozens of times before, but I couldn't find a working solution in any other posts so allow me to explain my situation.
I got my touch a few months ago, it was working fine with my unsecured home network. Now, the ipod claims that is connected to my network, however it will not load webpages or anything else that might make it seem like it has an internet connection. When I go to Safari, the page attempts to load for what seems like forever and then comes up with the same message everytime claiming that the server has stopped responding or that the server cannot be found. It does, however, work perfectly with the free Wi-Fi hotspots that I connect with in businesses with no problems at all.
    I have tried:
    Resetting Network Settings
    Resetting iPod (factory restore)
    Resetting my router
Renewing the Lease on my iPod network connection
Turning the iPod's Wi-Fi on and off
Turning the iPod off and back on
Changing the DNS number to (4.2.2.2,4.2.2.3.)
I'm not sure if this is significant, but when I am "connected" to my network according to my iPod, it says I have full signal. When I am disconnected and my default network is just on the list of networks, it says that there are only two bars of signal strength.
Please help, I don't know what is wrong with this thing.

Have you updated your router firmware lately? If not, please do so.
DNS is usually provided by your ISP. I would use that unless your other devices can't reach the network either. A good alternative is OpenDNS which you can find out about at opendns.com.
When you think you are connected, tap Settings > WiFi > then the little blue > next to your network name. What type of IP address are you seeing? If you see that your IP address starts with 164, then you really are not connecting to your network.
You might want to look at a couple of router settings. What is DHCP set to? (this issues your IP address) and What is MAC address filtering set to? (if this is on and your iPod MAC address has not been entered into the router table, you will not connect). DHCP should be on, MAC address filtering off. Additionally, look at what your default DNS is set to. Most routers have a box to check saying "Use ISP" for DNS.

  • IPX not working with new Network Configuration

Here is my situation. I have been engaged with a customer that had the following equipment.
    1x 3640 Router running IOS c3640-d-mz.121-3a.T1
    1x 3550 L3 Switch running IOS 12.1.15 EMI
    8 x 3548XL L2 Switches running IOS c3500xl-c3h2s-mz.120-5.WC13.bin
When I was asked to look at the network they were experiencing slow LAN speeds (10.8MB file between two LAN hosts around 12 minutes). This network consisted of 10 Class C networks 10.5.60.x - 10.5.69.x, these networks were based on the 3560 split between two interfaces. Odd ranges on FE 0/0 and Even on FE0/1. The router was acting as a stub router on a T1 from the client’s core network provider. This core provider has IPX services that my client has to be able to use. Under the old design there was no VLAN structure and basic network services such as DHCP barely worked.
Now the network is configured with the 3640 router as the edge routing device and the 3550-48-EMI is configured as the LAN routing devices. I have split the 10.5.60.x range in two using the lower segment for VLAN 60 and using the upper range as the communication network between FE 0/48 on the 3550 (ip addr 10.5.60.130 255.255.255.128) and FE 0/0 on 3640 (ip addr 10.5.60.131 255.255.255.128), these interfaces are connected via an ISL Trunk. Each VLAN is set at the 3550 with the gateway of 10.5.x.1. Each of the 8 3548XL switches is configured with all of the VLANS and are linked to the 3550 via 100 BaseT and 1000BaseT interfaces configured as dot1q trunks. Multicast routing is enabled on the 3550 to allow services like MDNS and Imaging to occur across VLANS.
With all this said IPX is not working. My 3640 edge router is still seeing all of its upstream IPX servers and networks. This router also sees the local IPX network as connected out of FE 0/0, based on this config setting (ipx network 1368023) FE 0/0. I'm guessing that this piece of the puzzle is based on my L3 changes on the LAN. But I just am not able to wrap my head around what it is. Any help that could be offered concerning this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Whatever the solution is it needs to happen with no more hardware and this new structure has to stay in place. I have been able to fix all ip network services such as DHCP and the customer reports a 1013% speed increase from the point when I first arrived. The 10.8 MB file mentioned above now transfers in about 8 to 10 seconds across the LAN.
    Again Thanks.

I was pretty sure of that. Is there anyway to tag the IPX traffic to a VLAN from the 3600 as described in http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios120/120newft/120t/120t1/ipx_vlan.htm Which so far hasnt worked...
Or is there a way that I can simply use broadcasts at a L2 level to accomplish connectivity? This was working like a charm under the bad network configuration that was purely L2 and 10 subnets drapped accross two router interfaces. It seems like there should be some sort of simple fix I'm missing.
Otherwise is there a way to have the VLAN clients talk up to the 3600 in order to get IPX information? In the end this is a short term fix. 3 weeks from now the IPX app is being replaced by and IP app. But I need it for 3 more weeks.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Datasocket does not work with two network cards

If I have two ethernet card in a PC. The Datasocket server does not work if the second card is enabled. It keeps displaying resolving IP Address. I am wondering if there is a solution for this problem.
    Thanks

Thanks for you reply. One card has a static address(10.20.35.1), which is used for Data socket, and the other card uses a dynamic IP address. The card with dynamic address is only used for connecting the PC to the company’s network.
The second card, when turned on causes the Datasocket server problem. In the Datasocket Server manager I have only two IP addresses under Permissions Groups. (10.20.35.1 and 10.20.35.11. 10.20.35.11 is the IP address of the remote PC with labview application. The Datasocket is used to transfer data between the two PC’s)
I am wondering if my set up for hosts in Datasocket Server manager is not correct.

  • Airport Express not working with University Network

So I recently purchased an Airport Express to use as a router/to stream music because my University's (University of Arizona) network is a WPA-2 Enterprise network doesn't allow that. I have an ethernet port in my dorm room and its all hooked up but when I connect to my created network there is no internet connection. I already registered the MAC address with the network so now I'm not sure why its not working.

I have just bought the new Airport Express as well and when I plug it into my router at home it does not pick up the Internet. My old AE has no problems at all and all other connections work.
I can see the new AE in my Airport Utility but cannot connect to it. Really frustrating and far from plug and play.

  • Update rule not working with high data load.

    Hi all,
i have a problem with a update rule: it's an update loop in a dso, in the start routine i do 3 select for all entries in data-package on the active table of another structure; then i read those table to update some values in my update rule.
I did some test and it seemed to work well (i tryed for example just for a plant) but when i launched it for all the records in the dso the result was differente and, for the same plant, the values where not updated correctly (they were blank).
Now the routine is really the same so it sound strange to me that launching the infopackage without filters i can't get the same correct result of my previous test but i was wondering what could be the reason of this error...
    Anyone can help?
    The start routine is this:
      REFRESH i_tab.
      SELECT field1 field2 field3
        INTO TABLE i_tab
        FROM target_dso
        FOR ALL ENTRIES IN DATA_PACKAGE
        WHERE deliv_numb = DATA_PACKAGE-deliv_numb
          AND deliv_item = DATA_PACKAGE-deliv_item
          AND act_gi_dte <> l_blank_date.
then i read this table in the other routines...

It is hard to say.  What does the update rule look like?
after the read statement, you could check the return code.  If it is not zero, go into an infinite loop, and debug it via SM37.
    read table....
    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
      WHILE 1 = 1.
        "debug in SM37.
      ENDWHILE.
    ENDIF.

  • Email not working with home network

If this is answered elsewhere, my apologies.
I have a first generation iPhone, which is set up on the wireless network at work and also at my previous apartment. I had no problems receiving e-mails whether over Edge or wirelessly. When I moved into a new building and set up the router, both the phone and Apple Mail on my MacBook refuse to receive e-mail from either work or personal Gmail accounts, though I can browse the Internet at my heart's content on either phone or MacBook and check email through the browser. If I take the phone off the wireless network, it pulls e-mail off the Edge data network just fine, and it continues to work seamlessly at work. I tend to just keep it on Edge now, which isn't ideal, but I get the e-mails that way. I've had a similar problem with random hotel wireless connections as well.
Anyone experience a similar problem or have a solution? I'm using a Motorola Surfboard router at home and a WPA passcode. Thanks!

I have been able to surf on Safari over the wireless network on both the phone and computer, and the phone does pull email on the work wireless network and previous home network. Gmail works just fine on the MacBook too, but Mail doesn't want to pull in messages at all.
I actually played around more with my router (Motorola SBG900) and when I turned the firewall completely off, the e-mail finally pulled properly. Is it worth just leaving the firewall off, or can I adjust the settings so that it will allow the phone to access the network to retrieve mail? In the advanced settings of the router there are a ton of "Port ID's" and depending on Motorola's vague "High" "Medium" "Low" Firewall settings, it allows inbound access to different Port ID's. Thanks!

  • Wifi suddenly not working with new networks?

This is already my second iPhone 5, since the last went into warranty because, ironically, of a wifi problem.
The other day, I was just minding my own business when I decided to try to connect to the local wifi of the place I was at the time, and it wouldn't connect. It would find the network, I would put the given password in and it just stayed there. The keyboard would disappear, like it normally would, but instead of returning to the wifi menu in the Setting app, it just stays there saying "Connecting to "X" network..." and nothing happens, unless I do either thing: if I tap the Home button and go back to Settings, it brings me back to the wifi menu, still unconnected; if I drag down Notification Center or bring up Control Center and bring them up/down again, a pop up shows up saying "Can't connect to the network". Apparently, this is to new networks, since when I got home, it automatically connected to my house's wifi. On the spot, I tried reseting everything from factory, and try to connect to another wifi nearby, since I had a copy of my phone on iTunes, and it worked, and when I came back to that same wifi, it didn't but I scratched the option that it was that router problem, because now I'm at my other apartment in the capital, and tried to connect to wifi (since I reseted everything and had no password saved automatically) and the same thing happened.
Help me out here, I'm going insane!

Turn off your router, wait ten seconds and turn it back on.

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 - ADFS/Windows Network Load Balancing Converging Issue

    Hello,
My name is Brandon. We have started upgrading our servers to Windows Server 2012 R2. We have some powerful servers for running ESXI 5.5 as the OS with the Guest Operating Systems as Windows Server 2012 R2. As far of our migrations/upgrades we have configured
ADFS 2012 R2 into a Server Farm with Windows Network Load Balancing to add redundancy in the event a server goes down.
I have been having issues with a Node with the Cluster getting stuck in the Status of Converging. The only way I have been able to get it back up is to restart the virtual server completely and it is temporary. When I first configure the Cluster the two
virtual servers get added to the Node with no problems and fully converge. However, after some time a node will end up in Converging and this takes Authentication for ADFS down as the nodes can not be contacted over Port 443.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that:2 ESXI 5.5 physical devices (192.168.0.5 and 192.168.0.6), each of them has a virtual WS 2012 R2(192.168.0.10 and 192.168.0.20). Cluster the 2 virtual servers successfully, but they corrupt with event
ID 21, and a restart of virtual device will resolve this problem temporarily.
Event ID 21 means that NLB failed to converge due to inconsistencies in the port rules between this host and cluster host. This will occur if the number of port rules or the type of port rules are different between hosts.
Ensure that all NLB hosts have identical port rules. Detailed steps you may reference:

Thank you for your response. It took me a while to figure it out, but the whole issue was related to the type of Virtual Network Adapter I was selecting.
I changed the network adapter from E1000 to VMXNET 3 and have not had a single error in the event logs or Windows NLB.
I read somewhere that VMXNET 3 is preferred for Windows Server 2012 R2.

After 10 days of research for our virtual datacenter behind a vcloud as iias ,  i found a solution .
    I only run windows 2012 server .
Install vmware tools , remove e1000 network card after a vm stop, add a card same vswitch etc BUT with a vmxnet3 TYPE . DONT USE DEFAULT CARD
Start and enjoy this solution . E1000 and E1000e are just unstable in windows8 / windows 2012 , the network card reset randomly with or without heavy IO. No log in windows , and as a vcloud user i don"t have esxi logs (damn i don't like cloud) and provider

  • Network Load Balancing - Multicast IPv6

I have a two servers with network load balancing. They are configured to use IGMP Multicast which works well with IPv4.  The switch correctly detects the group and sends the traffic to only the ports connected to the servers.
However i can't get IPv6 working outside of the servers subnet.  You can access the loadbalanced IPv6 address from within the servers subnet but machines outside the subnet cannot access it.
Does load balancing properly support IPv6?  Should it not support Multicast Listerner Discovery (MLD) to work properly with IPv6?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
Yes - you are correct. We are using an IPv6 address as the cluster IP address for incoming connections but it can't be access outside of the subnet. The cluster has both a link-local and global address - both are only accessible from within the subnet.
The two servers that are part of load balancing cluster both have IPv6 address assigned to their network adapters - these are accesible outside the subnet. Infact 80% of all our network traffic is IPv6 - routing is working fine between all servers, workstations
and devices on our various subnets.  The problem is purley affecting the load balancing IPv6 address.
The IP config and route tables are below.  Thanks for your help.

  • Hyper-V 2012 R2 & NLB (Network Load Balancing) with Unicast on VMs

    Hi,
We set up a 2012 R2 Hyper-V Cluster. On this Cluster we would like to run 2 VM's which are using NLB (Network load Balancing) in Unicast mode.
We have created a External Virtual Switch wich is connected trough a 3x10GB LACP Team to a Cisco Nexux Switch.
We have tried to set the NLB up in the way we did with 2008 R2 but we were not be able to get this working. Is there any Change in 2012 R2 we did not think about?
Each time we form the Cluster one Node becomes unavailable.
    Timo

Check the virtual network adapter properties - you must enable MAC address spoofing.  We had the same issues.
Note that this will absolutely pollute your host machine's system log with tons of spam and make it pretty much worthless.  I'm trying to find a way around this as we speak, actually.
