MultiClip editing/ Down convert to multi-edit but then replace clip?
I need to multiclip edit a 2 camera interview using one ex-3 and one sony hdv cam.
When I select the two clips to make them a multiclip sequence, it says that I cannot because of the frame size not matching.
Two part question.
1) Is there a way to create a create and edit a multiclip with two different frame sizes?
2) I had an idea of downconverting the ex3 footage so that FCP allows me to create a multiclip.
Then after doing the editing of the invterview, "replace" the downconverted video of the ex3 with the full-res video from the ex3. Is this possible?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Multiclips not only have to be the same frame SIZE, but exact same CODEC too. HDV and XDCAM will not work together. They should both be ProRes really...because they are different GOP formats, and converting one to the other is UGLY.
Or downcovert both to DV, multiclip, edit. Then flatten the multiclip...media manage and recapture. But that will take some testing to see if it will work right.

Cannot get sound effects icon to stop coming on. When I turn down the volume, the icon goes off briefly and then it comes back on at full volume and stays in the middle of the screen, until I click the volume down again. Doesn't help to reset, the case is not on and it still does this. Most annoying.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. -
My power management scheme: turn off monitor after 2 min of inactivity; turn off hard discs after 5 min of inactivity. doesn't work reliably anymore. Usually, with Firefox installed, the system powers down after the preset times but then comes right back on again after a few seconds. If I restart the machine, my selected power management scheme works properly for a few cycles but then reverts to the mode of turning back on after a few seconds after having shut down.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />

I am simply trying to get to home screen where I can combine files, edit files, convert, etc. I had the link saved but now it's gone. logging into my account at adobe seems to be a circle of marketing adobe products...i'm just trying to use my current package. Please help.

Color correcting multi edit clips
I need some help. I would like to do the color correcting on 3 clips that will be used in a multi edit. The way I have been color correcting the footage is to just drag the whole clip on the timeline and do the color correcting before I do any editing and cutting of the clip. Is there a way I can do the same thing with multi cam clips? Once they are on the timeline, the corrections are made on the timeline, but the original clips don't change?

-Duplicate your clip in the browser (option-d)
-Dbl-click the new clip (will load it in viewer)
-Apply Color Correction (this will affect the clip as it resides in your browser, leaving the original master clip untouched)
-lather/rinse/repeat for all clips to be used in multiclip
-create your multi-clip and edit away
Can I also do this with clips on the timeline
There are procedures for this within a multiclip environment, but I'm not remembering them well enough and no longer have access to a multiclip system for review and assistance. Check your manual..I remember this part frankly being a little convoluted, so a search of this forum or the other previously posted links should help.

3. You are alternately opening documents randomly with either version of Pages
Both Pages have the same file extension .pages and there is no certainty as to which version opens them when you double click on a file.
right click on the file and choose which version you want to open it
4. Pages '09 can not open Pages 5 files
Pages 5 can not open Pages '08 files, and will convert and change Pages '09 and Word files.
It will also auto save opened files into its own format.
You can export these back to Pages '09 if you need to:
Menu > File > Export > Pages '09
5. Yes Pages 5.2.2 is a marked downgrade
Pages 5.2.2 has a few improvements but has had over 110 features removed and is buggy.
Sooner or later you will not be able to open a file or have it damaged in some way and it has a complex obscure file format largely incompatible with everything else, so you will not be able to rescue the contents of your file. If Pages or some third party server/eMail don't trash your file, eventually Apple will do it for you as it did when it released Pages 5 last September. I recommend using Pages '09 for the time being whilst you look for viable alternatives, some are here already and some are on the way.

Adobe X PDF files converted to jpg, edited and converted back to PDF have ragged, unclear text. I didn't have this problem with Acrobat 9 standard. What is the remedy for this. If this is the best I can expect, I won't be able to use X standard.
I can't imagine any worse workflow than converting to JPEG to edit text, then back to PDF. Text in a PDF is a vector thing, smooth at all resolutions. And JPEG is made for photos. EVERY conversion to JPEG and back loses quality but how much loss there is will vary.
If you must go to an image format, try PNG. -
How to edit DNG in Photoshop after adjustments but without them?
Ok, this might seem a stupid question but let me properly explain...
Just to make it clear, I now know I cannot edit a DNG directly in Photoshop, this must be converted to TIFF and that one can be edited and imported back into Lightroom.
I've read many posts where people tend to all LR adjustments and then go to PS for the final touches, but I prefer the other way around, PS first for any pixel editing and LR to finish the image. But I have two problems this simply because I forgot to edit some image in PS before making my LR adjustments. The only thing I wanted to do in PS was to remove some sensor dust I didn't notice before.
The problem is that I have now finished all my LR adjustments and I can't find a proper way to edit the original (without LR adjustments). When I open the context menu in LR and select Edit » Photoshop, all LR adjustments will be processed and the TIFF file generated will have them.
Q1: Isn't there a way to edit a DNG file in Photoshop without LR adjustments just like we can do it for any other type of file that is not some sort of RAW file?
To answer my own question, the only way I found to do this was to preset the Reset button in the Develop module in LR and then to Edit » Photoshop. This will work but it's a little bit clumsy, anyway to avoid this or is it my only option?
Let's say I do it like that anyway. I'm now with the original untouched DNG file converted to TIFF opened in Photoshop, I do all my pixel editing and save the file. This TIFF file will be automatically imported into Lightroom so I can do any final touches. Since I did a "reset" and the image edited in Photoshop was the original untouched by LR, I now need to do all my editing in LR all over again.
I though of simply copying all develop settings from the old original DNG into the new converted TIFF. But this doesn't work, the files are different, the same settings do not work for these 2 different fle types. The image looks completetly different.
Q2: How can I fix this without playing with all the sliders again to achieve the same look?
I've been done this road before and it was a painful process, in the end, I was not able to get the same exact result.
EDIT: I did not mention the spot removal tool because I wasn't getting very good results with it, it doesn't work as good as Photoshop's tools. The sensor dust was in the sky and very close to some clouds, selecting the whole thing was not working. After some time, I added 5 spot removals and was able to properly clean the sky of that dust. Still would love to hear opinions on my questions above.Not it's not, it's my workflow, why don't you understand that? If I want to edit in PS first, well, that's my decision, you are assuming I want to keep the RAW data intact and if I wanted yes, my workflow would be wrong because I couldn't do it like that, but I don't want to keep it. Actually, in a perfect world, I would want to be able to keep RAW data and do som pixel editing in the same file, but this is not a perfect world so I'm fine in losing the RAW data. I never stated that but I though it was implicit the way I described my workflow.

Like I said, I'm not looking moving back and forth, I don't think yous guys are understanding my question properly. Let's take another approach to see if you guys understand it better. I shot some photo in RAW and converted it to JPG (yes JPG), I've now lost any RAW data. However, I like to keep my files in DNG (DNG is a container so I can do that) and convert the JPG file into a DNG. I know have my "master" file as a JPG file in a DNG container.
I start to do some editing in LR in my master file but I forgot to remove the dust on Photoshop and now I need someway to open the original in Photoshop to remove it, because I don't want to lose all my LR adjustments, I want to edit the original and keep my LR adjustments. But even if the file inside the DNG container is a JPG file, since the file format is DNG, I don't have the option to Edit without LR adjustments when I chose Edit » Photoshop. As soon as I do that, the DNG file will be opened in PS with all LR adjustments, but this file is actually a JPG, there's no RAW data anymore. The only way to edit the original file like this is to "reset" all LR adjustments before going pressing the edit context menu option and then copy back all settings from a to b.
Now, this will work just fine because the original file is no longer RAW data, but linear data (I think it's called like this? what I mean, is a JPG, not RAW; i'll call it like this from now on, sorry if this is wrong) and so the settings can be copied at will from one file to ther other without any problems. After a bit of research I read around this forums that LR settings differ slightly if the original file is RAW data or linear data. For instance, the middle point for Temperature is actually 0 for JPG files but if it's a RAW file, it's something like 6500K (not necessarily this, just an example), and that means I can't copy the settings back and forth with a copy/paste.
So, to recapitulate...
My original image is now linear data (JPG) not RAW and saved into a DNG container and since it's a DNG container I cannot open the context menu Edit » Photoshop » Without LR Adjustments. Why? Is there any other any way around it or there's nothing I can besides making a reset or saving a snapshot in LR with the original settings so I can open them at will in PS and then copy the settings from a to b. I just don't understand why there isn't an option, for DNG files, to open it without all LR adjustments like all other files. It's actually a JPG file inside, not RAW data, so, why not? But even if it was RAW data, there could be such an option to. I mean, when you have RAW data and press Edit » Photoshop, the file will be demosaiced (or whatever it's called) and opened in PS, when you save it, it will be saved as TIFF. So why isn't there an option to demosaic the original file without LR adjustments.
As to my second question, I guess there's no way to solve it either. The data on each file is different and the sliders behave differently so there's not way to copy the settings from a file to another if the saved data is not of the same type. And there's also no way to "convert" the settings from one file to the other, or is there? That was actually my question, if there was a way to copy/convert the settings from a RAW file into a linear file so I don't have to move all the sliders all over again and try to achieve the same goal. But after a quick search around the forums, I found a related question and I guess there's no way to do it. -

Keep in mind that if your camera is newer than the last released version of Camera Raw (5.7) for Photoshop CS4, Adobe does provide a free solution for compatibility, as Curt has mentioned, through the use of the free DNG Converter application.
The way that works is this:
1. You get your raw images from your new camera into a folder on your computer.
2. You run the latest DNG Converter application and choose the folder.
3. It converts the entire folder full of images to .DNG files.
4. You open a DNG file as you would an older raw file, with your old version of Photoshop.
While the DNG Converter provides you a way to continue to use your older Photoshop software with a new camera, keep in mind that there are significant improvements in the raw converter in the latest version of Photoshop that may allow you to make better images out of your raw files if you do choose to upgrade Photoshop.

I Am able to edit a photo but then my original is gone. I need to be able to edit a phoot 3 diff ways and save each of those 3 photos.
One of the joys of LR and non-destructive editing – the virtual copy. In Grid Mode, with your original selected, press the ‘ key while holding down the Ctl button. (Also in the Photo drop down menu.) Each time you create an additional VC (Virtual Copy). A virtual copy is just an additional database record pointing to the same original image. You can create a horizontal, vertical and B&W version of the original without having additional HD space taken up.

I trimmed an audio regin in the audio track edior with "Snap Edits to Zero Crossings" on.
But I zoom in、the waveform was not ended at Zero point.

Edit/Edit Colors/ Convert to CMYK via applecript
Cant seem to figure this one out.
In Adobe CC, I am trying to convert every path item of the current document to CMYK using applecript or javascript.
The equivalent to Edit/Edit Colors/ Convert to CMYK.
Currently I am using an action but I try to stay away from actions as much as possible.
Does anyone know how this could be done via applecript, javascript or whatever else?Right, I tried this method already but it does not show the dialog box in Adobe Illustrator CC v18. only previous versions.
Our group all use different versions. I may just switch to an installer script thats adds the action to Illustrators "Default_Actions.aia" file since its text based.
Heres what I'm using now which is working but I don't like all the hoops it has to jump.
The action simply writes a new doc to a dummy file on a server & the when script doesn't see then dummy file, it writes, loads the action & deletes the dummy file.
Then on the next run, the action will write the dummy file for the script to see & skip the loading of a duplicate action.
And if I change the action, I simply change the name of the action file & dummy file.

Converting a single edition into Multiple edition
I have created a single edition ipad app (Game Drive - A Safari Guide), which is selling well. But now I want to create an iphone app multiple edition app. I submitted the iphone app, but Apple rejected it as they say that it is not compatible with ipad. So to be able to have an iphone app, I have to have an ipad version of the same app. My problem is that it is the same app, i.e. if I have a multiple edition app called Game Drive, it will be the same as the single edition app that I already have on the app store.
My questions are: 1. What is the tendancy - do people buy multiple edition apps more, or single editions? i.e. will I loose out if I convert to a multiple edition app on my ipad?
2. If I keep the single edition of the app on the app store for the ipad, will people get confused because there are two apps with the same name? Has anybody done that before?
3. Is it worthwhile putting it on newsstand?
My existing app is selling quite well, and don't want to mess with something that works. But to be able to create an iphone app, I have to have a multiple ipad app of the same thing.

Hi,
I am using Multi-Edit kind of list (MEDL) in Detail Area 1. It puts a check box and also Select All/None etc. buttons.
My requirement is to show all the checkboxes selected, for the first time. How do I control the check selection for the first display. Else, Is there a way I could suppress this checkbox, that way I could use my checkbox for my purpose.
Any information in this regard will be helpful.

You're not thick at all, you just jumped into a super-advanced feature of FC without knowing how the application works at its more basic levels. We see that often around here.
There's at least one thing about FCP's interface that makes all of us nuts.
