Multilingual Maintenance Packs

I'm currently busy with setting up a Campus Solutions demo environment and I've got a question. I've used the installation files from the edelivery website which includes Feature pack March 2011. From the maintenance log in the database I can see the following Maintenance packs are included:
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 10 - Delta
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 10 - Delta
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 9 - Delta
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 8 - Delta
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 7 - Delta
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 6 - Cumulative
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 6 - Cumulative
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 6 - Cumulative
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 6 - Delta
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 5 - Cumulative
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 5 - Cumulative
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 5 - Cumulative
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 5 - Cumulative
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 5 - Delta
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 4 - Cumulative
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 4 - Delta
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 3 - Delta
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 3 - Cumulative
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 2 - Delta
HCM 9 Maintenance Pack 2 - Cumulative
HCM 9 - Maintenance Pack 1
I understand the difference between the cumulative and delta (although it is a bit weird they are both listed) MP's.
Now comes the question however; I want to apply the Multilingual versions of the Maintenance packs as well, since the database will be running on a different language then English. According to Oracle it is not recommended to apply a ML Maintenance pack once the non-ML is already applied. The ML version of the Maintenance packs is however not included, so I have to install these. I also found a article on the support website which said that I should only apply the language which is other then English in that case. Does anyone have any idea how to exclude the English from the ML Maintenance pack? As far as I can see all the scripts and steps in the Maintenance pack don't easily let you exclude something like this. I'm a bit baffled about the statement from Oracle support on that matter, since they don't mention anything on how to do such a thing at all.
Any insights will be appreciated.

Michael,
Usually Engish is the base language and any other language is setup and written to the translate tables.
Since you have chosen Dutch as the base language, English is now in the translate tables.
I cannot contradict Oracle on this point.
If you are not sure, make a copy of your database and try installing the ML.
The Change Assistent will automatically exclude languages other than English and Dutch.
After applying the ML see if the language related tables are still correctly filled.
If correct, keep on going.
If not, set your copy of the database back and swap the base language to English (which is common use)
After this you should not encounter any issues applying (ML) patches

  • WebLogic Maintenance Packs Vs Installations?

    I installed WebLogic 9.2.3 on Windows XP Professional. I know, it isn't up to date, but that is what the place I work at has on their test and production servers. I am setting up a development environment for myself and I would rather the WL I am using match theirs.
    WebLogic 9.2.3 seems to be running and the example programs/example server seems to be running.
    On the Oracle downloads page there is a download called "*Oracle WebLogic Server 9.2 MP4*"
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/downloads/wls-main-097127.html
    Does the "MP" mean "maintenance pack"? Does the "maintenance pack" install a full version of WebLogic, just bugfixes/an upgrade?
    I tried running "*Oracle WebLogic Server 9.2 MP4*", but I got this message
    The product maintenance level of the current installer (9.2.4.0) is not compatible with the maintenance level of the product installed on your system( 9.2.3.0 ).  Please obtain a compatible installer or perform maintenance on your current system to achieve the desired level.+
    Does that mean that I need a "Oracle WebLogic Server 9.2 MP*3*" and if so, where can I get one? Would I then install MP4?
    Like I wrote, things seem to be running well, what would this pack do for me?
    Thanks in advance for the information. I am totally new to WebLogic

    Hi!
    This happens because of the confusion between the full installer and the upgrade installer. This error indicates that the standard installer was run instead of the upgrade installer. The standard installer is used for installing a new product or adding options to an existing installation of the same version.
    TYo upgrade your current instalation to a later Service Pack or Maintenance Pack, please use Smart Update or download an Upgrade Installer.
    The nomenclature has been changed for WLS 10.x. In the same way, in 8.x it was SP instead of MP.
    Hope this helps.

  • Error when applying Maintenance Pack upgrade from 10.3.1.0 to 10.3.3.0

    I'm using smart update util to upgrade my 10.3.1 weblogic installation. In Oracle Smart Update util I selecte Maintenance Packs->Update and it bring up a BEA Smart Update application which finds 10.3.3.0 as the upgrade option.
    After selecting this option, clicking ok and accepting the defaults the upgrade operation starts. About halfway through it fails with a Fatal Error message. Looking through the bsu.log I found this error:

    The file does exist at that location: /weblogic/utils/bsu/upg10330/libjni.so
    Also failing in the middle of the upgrade messed up the weblogic installation - I had to revert to a backup I made before starting the upgrade.
    Any ideas as to why this fails ?

    Maybe it helps checking read permissions of /weblogic/utils/bsu/upg10330/libjni.so file and directories...

    Yes, the column name is correct. When the error happened, I fond that the content of the BR688701_01.dms is:
    UPDATE PS_GPBR_RC_IREN SET YEARCD = YEAR;
    UPDATE PS_GPBR_SEFIP_EFDT SET YEARCD = YEAR;
    UPDATE PS_GPBR_SEFIP_PARM SET YEARCD = YEAR;
    UPDATE PS_GPBR_SERV_T_DT SET YEARCD = YEAR;
    UPDATE PS_GPBR_SERV_T_DTA SET YEARCD = YEAR;
    UPDATE PS_GPBR_SERV_T_DTL SET YEARCD = YEAR;
    UPDATE PS_GPBR_STAKER_DTA SET YEARCD = YEAR;
    UPDATE PS_GPBR_STAKER_MST SET YEARCD = YEAR;
    I thought the error may be caused by the ‘YEAR’. However, I found that the tables had no row. So the command ‘UPDATE’cann’t execute. Does it mean I can skip this step?

  • Maintenance pack on multi node env

    Hi
    I wants to apply the maintenance pack u3480000 on a multinode environment .
    I know , in a multinode environment we have to apply the patch in admin node first and then to remaining nodes.
    My question is
    Applying maintenance pack takes more than 24 hours to complete, whats the best practice to apply maintenance pack on a multinode env since I have to apply on both the nodes (admin and apps) logically which takes 24 + 24 hours to complete ?
    I assume that we have to start the adpatch with some options ....
    Pls correct If i am wrong ...
    Thanks
    Rajan

    But still I am little confused , could u pls shortly explain what will u do in this case? Rajan,
    If you check the note posted above, you would find many techniques which would help to estimate the time and reduce it when applying the patch on the production instance. Applying the patch on the Test instance first would perform an analysis of the effects of applying a patch, and let you know how long it takes to apply it on production. In addition, you would be able to address any issues which might encounter during the upgrade.
    You may also use Distributed AD reduce downtime by efficiently utilizing all the available resources on a shared application file system (In case you have Shared Application Tier File System).
    Please review the note one more time, and if you are still confused, please feel free to ask.
    Good Luck :)

    Hi,
    I am preparing the steps need Applying maintenance pack 12.1.3 on current 12.1.1.
    Platform is Linux
    I am refering to "Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 Readme [ID 1080973.1]"
    Please confirm if these steps are ok to follow or not
    *1). Database Preparation.*
    I refered the note "Database Preparation Guidelines for an E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Upgrade [ID 761570.1]"
    1.1). As i am on R12.1.1 with default database (11.1.0.7) i would choose patch E -> section B. And apply the following patches

    7211965
    7330434
    7486407
    7627743

    9026927

    9743057
    1.2). Apply Oracle Service Patch 5880762
    Apply patch 5880762.
    1.3). Do i need to set the initiialization parameters??? As i am already on R12.
    to disable fast validation for PL/SQL recompilations:
    disablefast_validate=TRUE
    2). 10g AS preparation.
    As i am already on
    ias_version -> 10.1.3.4.0
    forms_version -> 10.1.2.3.0
    Do i need to apply any patches????
    3). Main course:
    3.1). Apply the PATCH R12.AD.B.DELTA.3
    3.2). Apply the patch 12.1.3 Patch 9239090
    3.3). Apply the patch Patch 9239095

    4.4). Apply the NLS translation patch 9239090
    Thanx
    taher

    Hi Taher
    Most of your questions have been answered already, but here is a complete summary of answers to all your questions.
    Q 1.1). As i am on R12.1.1 with default database (11.1.0.7) i would choose patch E -> section B. And apply the following patches
    A 1.1). "path E -> section B" is the correct path for you.
    The database patches required for 12.1.3 are the same as for 12.1.1, so they should already have been applied, but since it is possible that new patch requirements were released after you did the 12.1.1 installation you should re-check that you have the required patches.
    The quickest way to find out which patches have been applied is as follows; (note, since the output of opatch changes between versions you might need to fine-tune the first command to get the desired results)
    a) Retrieve a listing of existing patches
    opatch lsinventory | grep 'applied on' | awk '{print $2}' > appliedPatches.txt
    b) Create a file (newPatches.txt) with a listing of the new patches that need to be applied
    c) cat newPatches.txt | grep -v -f appliedPatches.txt
    You will get a list of patches that have not been applied.
    NOTE: Not all database patches are necessarily relevant to your environment, but since is it difficult for an Apps DBA to determine which patches are not relevant then it is strongly recommended that you apply all the patches.
    Q 1.2). Apply Oracle Service Patch 5880762
    A 1.2). This patch is an 11i patch which is only required when you are upgrading from 11i to R12.1.1. You don't need this patch.
    Q 1.3). Do i need to set the initiialization parameters??? As i am already on R12.
    A 1.3). The "_disable_fast_validate=TRUE" is a compulsory setting that is required for certain types of upgrades. If you don't set this parameter then you could encounter problems during the patch.
    You must unset this parameter after the upgrade.
    Q2). 10g AS preparation.
    As i am already on
    ias_version -> 10.1.3.4.0
    forms_version -> 10.1.2.3.0
    Do i need to apply any patches????
    A2). The same applies as for the database patches. i.e. the patches required for 12.1.3 are the same as for 12.1.1, so they should already have been applied, but since it is possible that new patch requirements were released after you did the 12.1.1 installation you should re-check that you have the required patches.
    You need to confirm that the patches listed in the "Apply Any Additional Patches" (in both notes 437878.1 and 728531.1) have been applied. Use this command on the web server to create a file with a list of applied patches;
    opatch lsinventory | grep 'applied on' | awk '{print $3}' > appliedPatches.txt
    Q3). Main course:
    A3). All of question 3 is 100% correct
    (NOTE: You only need the NLS patch if you are running a language other than American English)
    Regards
    Frank

  • About maintenance packs

    I want to install the maintenance packs for HRCS 9.0 and I want to use the other language not only English. Should I need to install the maintenance packs Multi-Language only or I must install both the Multi-Language packs and English packs? For example, should I install the PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Resources Management System and Campus Solutions 9.0 - Maintenance Pack 6 - Multi-Language only or both the PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Resources Management System and Campus Solutions 9.0 - Maintenance Pack 6 - Multi-Language and PeopleSoft Enterprise HRMS and Campus Solutions 9.0 - Maintenance Pack 6?By the way, after I have installed the Maintenance Pack 6,I use ctrl+j to see the information of my peoplesoft system and I found that the Service Pack is 0 still. • Problems while uploading Task List - Service Pack with LSMW

    We are trying to upload General Maintenance Task List using LSMW. We are using Standard Batch/Direct Input method with Object 0490.
    We need to upload task list header, operations, maintenance pack, component and service pack for operations.
    We have created separate files containing data for different structures and they are linked using Group, group counter and operation number according below
    Header
    |----Operations
    .......... |----Long Text
    ..........|----Maintenance Pack
    ..........|----Components
    ..........|----Service Pack
    We have multiple operations per task list and multiple services per operation. The service pack is required only for a specific control key - PM03.  As per the configuration this screen (PROGRAM - SPLMLSP, Screen Number - 0200) is accessible only when the value PM03 is entered in the operation. We are able to upload all other details except service pack details. We have tried using structure IBIPBDCD for the same.
    While uploading the task list in foreground, when control key is entered as PM03 in an operation, service pack screen is displayed with error u201CNo batch input data for screen SAPLMLSP 0200u201D. The data provided in structure IBIPBDCD does not get processed at this time.
    On exiting the screen using back button, the data in IBIPBDCD structure is passed incorrectly to fields in screen 3400 (SAPLCPDI)
    Are we doing something incorrect? Is there a way to use this standard functionality to upload task lists with service packs?
    Thanks
    Edited by: jvalitp on Dec 15, 2011 12:46 PM

    Hi,
    When loading the tasklists you need to define a source structure as per the IBIP structure. You have different levels for example level 1 - header then below that level 2 - Operations, Header Long text then below that you have level 3 - Operation Long text, Operation Package assignments, operation component allocation.
    For each of these levels you need an identifier that links then together. In your source file specify identifier 1 for header, Identifier 1 and Identifier 2 for operations, identifier 1 identifier 2 and identifier 3 for packages. This way the system can create the correct structure when it reads the data from the text file.
    The identifiers are numeric and will dissapear once the files are loaded. specify then in the source structure as 2 characters and remember to set the xcel file up to have a 2 character field.
    For the header file each line will be a new identifier 1,2,3,etc.
    The operations are assigned to the header and have 2 identifiers. The first corresponds to the header identifier the next is a sequential number stating at 1 and incrementing for each line e.g Header 1 op 1, header 1 op 2, header 2 op 3, header 2 op 4, header 2 op 5 (this would be 2 header records. The first with 2 operations on it the second with 3 operations)
    The package is assigned to the operation and as such needs to have a third identifier. Header (identifier 1), Operation (identifier 2), Package (identifier 3) Example Header 1 op 1 pack 1, header 1 op 2 pack 2, header 2 op 3 pack 3, header 2 op 4 pack 4, header 2 op 5 pack 5
    I have a loading file for each of the items i.e. Header file, Operation file, maintenance package file. This is then assigned to the respective source structure.

    ravi

  • Maintenance Wizard Version : 1.28 - Seed Information?

    Applications Database Upgrade Assistant 9i : 1.20

    Applications Database Upgrade Assistant 10g : 1.12
    Upgrade Assistant for 11.5.9 : 1.09
    Shouldn't the option to upgrade to r12 be present under the     Product field when adding a Project?
    Or, am I mis-interpreting the demos ?
    It also does not offer the option to utilize the AutoConfig files for Adding Node configuration information.
    Could some of my Seed data be out of synch?
    Any assistance is Appreciated!
    Murph

    Hi, Murph,
    No, you're seeing exactly what you should be seeing on any version of the Maintenance Wizard that starts with "1." That's the OLD version (which we're trying to phase out), and is only used for upgrade to 11.5.10.2 or 10g, etc.
    The new versions begin with "2.", and can be obtained by clicking on the Downloads link of note 215527.1. The new version currently contains both the R12 upgrade, and the 10g DB upgrade for Apps.
    Eventually, 2.x will contain one or two additional products that were present in the old 1.x version, and at that time, the 1.x versions will be desupported.
    I hope that clears it up! :-)
