Multimedia keys are non-functional

I'm currently experiencing a problem with the multimedia keys on the Apple Pro (white) keyboard. The expose keys work; however the brightness, volume up, volume down, mute, and eject keys will not. The said keys will work for a few seconds as OS X is loading up and mounting the drives, but they stop working once the drives are mounted. Right now, I'm using the menu bar eject button. When I click the "Keyboard/Mouse" preferences in the System Settings, I get a perpetual spinning beach ball and I'm forced to restart the computer using the power button. I've tried all of the following without any success:
* replaced existing Apple Pro Keyboard with another of the same
* CommandOption+OR
* CommandOption+PR
* plugged keyboard & mouse into different USB ports
I've had this computer 4+ years and this is a first. I would greatly appreciate any additional suggestions.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.

Repair Permissions after re-install, then reboot again.
If all the above do not resolve the problem, then it's time for an Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

Reinstalled CS6, then short cut keys are not functioning

Using Mac OS 10.9.5, Photoshop icon was had disappeared suddenly today so re-installed with DVD, then shortcut keys are not functioning,,,what to do??? help!

Do you have the correct Easy Setup selected for FCP and your camera?
Is a known working FireWire cable connected between your computer and camera?
Can you put the camera into play, forward or rewind using the FCP interface?
Have you used this camera to capture material before with success?
Are the timecodes in your Batch list correct - no typing errors, or conflicting timecodes?
Is the tape rewound to the beginning and at a position where it can establish a timecode
to begin capturing from?

Yes, but that's not very useful when you want to identify which clip it is. It would be simpler to toggle to a larger track height ( click the largest of the 4 boxes at bottom left of your timeline window ) this makes the waveform easier to see and analyze anyway.

I've been pulling my hair out trying to get to the bottom of this issue.
ProBook 6460b.
Win7x64
Certain functions keys won't work within windows.
External display toggle Fn+F4, And brightness functions Fn+F9, and Fn+F10, won't function in windows.
The brightness keys function normally in the bios so I know the keys are operational.
Steps already taken:
Updated the Bios
Uninstalled and Reinstalled Video Driver
Reinstalled Hotkey support driver
Any other suggestions?

Pavilion dv5=1233se - USB ports are non=functional

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on my system, when I started iTunes the USB2 ports failed to recognize any attached hardware (mouse, iPod memory sticks, etc.) I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for my mouse and upgraded iTunes. I have gone through removing the "USB Roots Hub" and then scanned for new hardware. The USB Root Hub's were recognized and show they are working properly. I have also done a recovery to a date prior to this problem, but the USB ports are still non-functional. Any ideas?

This is the BIOS problem!!! I'm experienced the same problem with an usb hdd. Unfortunately the newest BIOS was faulty I guess so it's been removed. You can't do anything until a new BIOS will be released but it might take months...
I'm able to connect some devices over an usb hub and reinsert cca 2x or 3x that usb hdd to get it work.

Drop Down Menus in iTunesConnect are non functional

When I login to iTunesConnect (tried multiple browsers, clearing cache, etc) it says I have to approve the contract. When I go to contracts it says I have to chose a legal entity from the drop down menu. The menu is empty. When I try to add myself to the menu, it says I've already been added and I should choose myself from the drop down menu.
When I go to contact us, there is a drop down menu asking what the nature of my inquiry is. The menu is blank.
There is no place on iTunesConnect to submit a book for publishing. (Maybe this option appears after the contract has been approved?)
Nowhere in iTunesConnect are the drop down menus populated. They are all empty. And, therefore, completely useless.
What should I do?
(My iTunesConnect, by the way, if that's necessary information.)

Apart from your other problems.... if you are using iBooksAuthor - you do not "publish" using iTunesConnect.
You use iTunesProducer which can be downloaded from your iTunesConnect > Delivery your Content page.. but not until after December28th.
On the missing functions in Drop Down menus, unless you have a fault of corrupted files... greyed out items in Drop Down menu usually indicate its because their part of a procedure is not open for you to use because an early part of the process is not yet submitted.
Apple are shut down until after the 28th of December, so that's is also another reason the menu items are not available. You will need to wait a few days and check again.
BTW.. although they have been edited out... its not advisable to put on display any account information that could help the unscrupulous to gain advantage.

HP 250 g3 - Brightness adjusment keys are not functioning!

Windows 7 x64.
The function keys F2 and F3 might control the brightness of the screen but they don't. Is there any driver i should install?

Command Key Suddenly Non-functional

I'm not sure how it happened, but all of a sudden I'm no longer able to use my Command key. When trying to enter in shortcuts like Command+T in Safari, all that the computer recognizes is the "T" keystroke.
Is there anything I can do to fix this, or will I have to take it in to an Apple Store? Thanks!!

Well unfortunately I do not know what "whatnot" means so I will ask, have you tried booting the computer into another User Account to determine whether the problem is with your normal account or with the System software other wise?

K8N Neo4 (MS-7125) USB, Mic, S/P Out, and LAN ports all non-functional

I'm hoping someone can give me a hand with this. I'm not a novice when it comes to motherboards but this particular board is making me feel like it.
Ok, I've got a K8N-Neo4 MS-7125 model. Athlon64 3700. I have all the current drivers and ran the liveupdate to make sure.
The LAN port will light up, but the Device manager will not recognize it, nor will the LAN utility.
The board has 4 USB ports. The top two are non-functional, the bottom two work.
The S\P OUT port has never worked, nor do I know how to engage it or find it on the device manager
The microphone....this one is fun. Its like the microphone is stuck in a feedback loop. Whatever comes through my speakers, is heard on the other end by other users. I am not heard at all, although I can hear myself through my OWN speakers. Even with the mic unplugged, people still can hear my speakers. Imagine having your speakers plugged into the mic jack. The only way to kill the feedback is to actually go into the sound manager and mute the whole mic system.
I can live without the LAN and USB ports, but it would be a HUGE help if someone can help me with the mic and S\P ports!!

As for the flavor of the NEO4 the only other numbers I know of, is on the board it says N1996 right below the processor. Is that what you need? Its a PCB V.3 board nvidia Nforce4.

Logitech Mic/Headset combo
This particular case allows for hookups for headphones and mic in the front. The case has jumpers in the back that allow you to gain access from the front (but you probably already know that). I've always used the front MIC/Headset jack, and I have a splitter in the back for the headphones and that jumper. In trying to resolve the issue, I tried every jack with the microphone (even the ones that I know are labeled as speakers). I do get my own voice through MY speakers on the front jack AND the mobo jack.

Keynote dissolves non-functional

I have a long, long list of broken actions and missing functions with this 'new' version of Keynote.
However, to keep it as brief as possible:
In Mavericks, Keynote previews dissolves fine. On play they are non-functional. Completely and utterly broken;
Delays of 0.5 sec on preview turn into 10 seconds on play;
Audio is now out of sequence;
I have been a Keynote evangelist over Powerpoint since the first iteration. Taught many people to use it well. But right now, this version is not a professional product, barely an anateur product, since it has thelook and feel of an Alpha release.
So my question: how can I go back to Keynote '09?

Thanks.... I read that a while back. However, six months is a long time to be without a professional tool such as this. I cannot imagine what the programmers were thinking as they sent this out for beta testing. There is no way this was a considered release. It had to have been rushed. And badly.
For example: Build markers appear to be missing; 'ready to advance' cannot be found; and the 'customise presenter display' isn't there; even the 'open existing presentation' button, on app launch is gone. Seriously?
Since I wrote my earlier post, I've tested 6.0.1 further. It also apparently freezes [and requires a force quit] when you attempt to update from an older version and resave.
The release of a redesigned Keynote for Mavericks with this level of non-functionality is problematic at best and shockingly bad from Apple. I use this application a lot. A lot. And I think this is the worst update/redesign release I can ever remember from Apple.... and they've released some stinkers.
And they're going to take up to SIX months to fix this shambles? Good grief!! What a mess.

My BB 8320 Camera and Sound recorder non functional

For the past year the camera and sound recorder are non functional. I have tried the following.
1.Removing the battery and SIM and rebooting.
2. Sync the BB using my Laptop Desktop Manager to sync.
3. Downloaded latest o/s available.
Nothing works. Can anyone help me?

Sorry to hear you're having an issue with the sound on your device.
To rule out a software issue, backup your data (see KB12487 How to back up the data on a BlackBerry smartphone) then follow the steps in KB11320 How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows or KB19915 Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer).
Before any software is restored test the sound recorder.
If no sound is recorded then it's likely the issue may be a hardware one in which case you will need to contact your point of sale for hardware repair options.

ATunes Multimedia Keys

I am using aTunes compiled from the AUR. Unfortunately, contrary to what is says on the aTunes wiki, the multimedia keys are not working. If anyone knows why this is, please help me out. Other than this little problem aTunes is my favorite music player in Windows, Mac, or Linux.

Remove the Toshiba Controls, reboot the notebook and reinstall the common modules and Toshiba controls.
Hopefully you are successful
PS: You could use an registry cleaner application like CCleaner after removing of the Toshiba software to clean the corrupted registry.

I don't have the same version of OS X here but try System Preferences>Keyboard. Is there an option similar to "Use the F1, etc, keys as standard function keys"?
If so, and it has a checkmark, uncheck it & see if that does the trick.

System Preferences > Language and Text > Input Sources tab. Top of the left column, tick (check) "Keyboard and Character Viewer", Bottom of window next to search field, tick "Show input menu in menu bar"
System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard tab; tick "show keyboard and character viewers in menu bar"
If you open Keyboard Viewer and press the alt (option) key, the location of the diacritical marks and common symbols will be revealed. Note that five of them are highlighted in orange; these are the ones which can be used with multiple letters (acute, umlaut, gràve, circumflex and tilde)
Shift+Alt will show more.

Just to clarify, it only works when the phone is plugged in and charging. What happens when you try to activate it? Is there any error message?
