Multimedia Messaging (MMS)

Yesterday I purchased the 3GS IPhone from Bell Mobility. I noticed that I cannot send picture text messages. Can anyone help me?

Thanks for your help. I did get it to work. When my coworker fixed something on my iphone I noticed that when I turned it back on again I could send picture texts now.

You did not get an email, you got a MMS. You have to enable MMS on your phone before you can see the picture.

Please be advised that you have to disable Wi-Fi and connect to our network when sending and recieving multimedia messages. • Multimedia Messaging

I use a Samsung Brightside and I have this problem for a while already. When I receive a multimedia message and try to download it, I get "message receipt failed". Sometimes I receive the messages with no problem, and I don't have any problems sending multimedia messages at all, I just have a problem receiving them. Most of the time the message receipt would fail which has been making me frustrated. I have looked online for any solutions and had no luck at all. It was recommended for me to switch over to using a smartphone, but I don't want to because I use an iPod touch that almost does everything that an iPhone does and it saves me a bunch of money. I tried to restore my phone and reset everything and still the issue is still occurring.

I am paying all this money for 'unlimited data,' and yet my data is being limited.
SMS & MMS are not part of data access over a cellular network and cost money if one goes over their messaging allowance where email does not. The data exchange involved with sending and receiving email is included with unlimited data which costs all of $20/mo and includes 200 SMS which is the most reasonable by far unlimited data plan made available by any provider in the U.S. for any phone in the smart phone category. There is a 300KB or less message size limit with no such small message size limit with the exchange of email. All other phones need to catch up with this capability.
It undermines and insults every Iphone/Apple customer who are the ones to thank for promulgating the company's success.
For you and some others but not for me and definitely not for ALL iPhone owners which you don't and can't begin to speak for nor can anyone else. I rarely if ever used MMS with any previous cell phone - primarily because I wasn't interested in seeing a mediocre quality photo at best captured by a cell phone and viewed on a tiny little screen which wasn't the best either.

  • Multimedia messages won't send

Hi, Just wondering what's going on here. When I try to send a multimedia message from my Nokia N70 it just sits in the outbox and says 'Waiting' then eventually says 'Resending at xx:xx'. The reception symbol under where it says how much reception I have also flashes while the multimedia message is 'waiting' (waiting for what I don't know!).. If anyone knows whats going on or hwo to fix it that'd be great.
    Thanks!
    Angie

Have you ever sent a MMS (Multimedia message) successfully ?
If not you will need to get this service enabled with your network provider.

  • Multimedia messaging for N70

I just need a simple guideline about the specifications on sending multimedia messages via MMS on the Nokia N70.
For example the type of image file and size that can be sent along with the type of sound file and the size. I can get the picture onto the message but not the sound file (so what's the criteria for sound files). Thank you in advance.

MP3 and AMR files are supported for audio, jpg and gif files are supported for pictures. Some other format may be supported.
The main limitation of MMS is size. Most networks have a size limit of 300kb's in total (some networks only allow 100kb's) so you can only send short sound clips, very short video clips and the picture may need to be scaled down.

  • Multimedia Messaging anytime soon?

I don't currently have an iPhone but am going to be getting one soon, however I would really like being able to send (not using some e-mail workaround) and receive (without having to go through that whole viewmymessages.com thing and actually get it in the message) multimedia messages and being able to store them in the iPhone's photos folder. I was wondering if anybody has any idea if Apple is working on implementing this into the iPhone in an updated version or something. I am willing to wait a while for one with this, but would like to know if this is even being worked on. Anybody know anything? Same question about taking pictures from the iPhone's Safari and saving them into the Photos folder, that would be nice too... Thank you...

    Mr. OHYEAH1213
I would like to inform you that the reason that the iPhone currently does not support MMS messaging is that ATT use of Flash for their MMS messages. I do not know if you are aware but Adobe and Apple have been butting heads over getting flash onto the iPhone because Adobe does not feel the need to make a special version of said product just because it happens to run poorly on the iPhone. Apple's case is quality control, which means Apple refuses to have software on the iPhone that would make the phone's user experience sub-apple-standard.
The SDK for the iPhone was let out months ago so it will be all in good time before we see anything resembling MMS messaging on the iPhone.
I may suggest you to http://www.pktpix.com/how.html this site tells you how to email any friends cellar phone ( even if they do not have email on their phone ) and through this email a text message will be sent to your friend's cell phone with a link to download the picture message you have sent.
I myself have had small luck with this site but the few times it has work makes it worth trying for anyone.
Best of Luck to us All!

  • Nokia 6300 multimedia messaging

I live in Dubai which a du Nokia 6300 phone. I have downloaded the mms settings but cannot send multimedia messages to or receive multimedia messages from the UK. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Check if your local ISP supports MMS messaging(send/received, or received only whatever) to other ISP(abroad) or local only, & if the local ISP have an agreement with the ISP's in UK regarding MMS.
Knowledge not shared is knowledge wasted!

  • Question about image size of multimedia messaging!

Is there any way to send the images of original size . I mean when your select large size in settings still the picture is resized 240*180 . isn't there anyway to send images of size 640*480 ?? by mms
i want to send images of their original size ...
    Please kidnly help me !!!!

It depends on two things: The phone model and whether the operator's MMSC allows it (or has a size limit).
On S60 based devices like then N73 or others, you can open the "Messaging" app, hit "Options", select "Settings", then "Multimedia message" and change "Image size" to "Original".
This won't help if the operator's servers then reformats the image, or refuses to send it alltoghether because it is too big.
And, of course, even if you get past both your own phone's limitations and the operator's networks, the recipient's device must also be able to handle it.
If you want guaranteed delivery of original, unmodified images, use email instead of MMS.

  • Lost with 7250i multimedia message backup :(

    Hi there,
I've jst signed up as i promised i'd backup my misses phone before she goes travelling.
I went to the nokia 7250i page and downloaded the latest pc suite.
But I cannot find a way to view or backup mms? strange! looked at every option.
Also doesn't appear to be an option to view files and messages while the phone is not connected.
I have done a normal backup but don't know if that includes mms.
Can you help with any of these 3?? She leaves tommorow!

    Thanks Sandy,
I have done that. I backed up messages but it doesn't give you a breakdown to say 156 text messages and 10 mms backed up or anything like that.
I wasn't sure that mms had backed up as they don't show in the Nokia PC Suite Messages section where you should be able to create and send text and multimedia messages. Only text messages show up there. No MMS.
Maybe I just have to forward mms to another phone.
Thought this would be easy lol.
I use a third party software years ago which came with usb infra red dongle - and it backed up and made messages, images and sounds etc available to view and upload to other phones with out the original present BUT I can't remember what it's called now. Not as pretty as nokia pc suite but seems to work better.lol
    Ideas anyone?
    Thanks

  • Multimedia messaging, ringtones, and sounds

I have two questions actually. First is, why, when I receive a text from someone who has attached a photo to it do I NEED to go to "viewmyphotos.com" to see it. Why is it that iphone doesn't have the ability to reveive texts with photo attachments. Also, when I want to send a photo to someone else, I have to email it to them. What happens if that person doesn't have an email account?
Secondly, I am extremely frustrated at apple's inability to allow songs other than those "purchased" through itunes to be used as a ringtone for the iphone. I don't understand why, if I already have the song on my computer, whether it be from a CD or just in my music library, I have to go and "buy" it again to use it as a ringtone.
Lastly, i also am disappointed in the fact that the sounds for the text messages, new mail, sent mail and such can not be altered. The phone is beautiful, but I've only had it 4 days and I am already disappointed in the lack of personalization.

    sara6,
Unfortunately it seems you suffer from, LRS. Lack of Research Syndrome. The iPhone does NOT support MMS (Multimedia Messaging) or Custom Ring tones. The iPhone has NEVER advertised that they do. When you bought the iPhone and asked a Apple/AT&T employee they would have also confirmed this for you.
The current thinking about the iTunes ring tones is you have to buy the song from Apple, to verify you did not illegally obtain a song, and then you have to pay 0.99 cents to turn it into a ring tone, that .99 cents is basically a licensing fee allowing you to use a portion of that song on a phone as a ring tone. There is a STRONG belief that this is a result of the Record Industry wanting more money for the songs they hold copyrights to.
Since you DID NOT do adequate research to find out if the phone was a good fit for you, I would advise (it being only 4 days and all) that you return the phone for a refund minus a 10-15% restocking fee and then buy a phone that fits your needs.
Good luck for your future purchases.

  • 3G iPhone & Multimedia Messaging

Does anyone know if the 3G iPhone will be a hardware upgrade or a software upgrade. I haven't bought an iPhone yet because I want the 3G one, but if its just a software upgrade then I can buy it now and wait for the update. Also a friend of mine who does have an iPhone doesn't get any of her multimedia messages to her phone she can only access then through her email. The people at AT&T say that it's because Apple didn't make the iPhone able to recieve the multimedia messages. Is that going to be addressed with an update as well or will that never change?

Does anyone know if the 3G iPhone will be a hardware upgrade or a software upgrade.
Hardware related which will require a new purchase. You can't turn a non-3G radio into a 3G radio with a firmware/software update.
The iPhone does not support MMS with the existing SMS client at the present time and my never support this. This is a user to user help forum only so no one here knows what Apple has planned for future updates or with a new iPhone model - except for the next generation iPhone will be 3G which was announced by Apple and AT&T. If someone here is privileged to any such information that has not been officially announced by Apple, they aren't allowed to say.
The only thing we know is the 3G iPhone will be available sometime in 2008 which could mean just before Xmas or earlier or this could be delayed until 2009 for all we know.
Do you live in an area where AT&T has 3G network access?

  • SMS Multimedia messages

When I get an SMS with multimedia content I get a message that sends me to a website and provides a complicated username and password. Without cut & paste or a link to the website, I find myself waiting till I'm near a PC to look at my message. Am I missing something?

SMS multimedia messages are called MMS.
Have the sender of the MMS address the MMS to an email address for an email account that you access with the iPhone's email client. Have the sender enter this email address in the To: field for the MMS.
The MMS will be received as an email with a photo attached to the message and you will have the sender's cell phone email address for sending this person an email with a photo attached. Address your email with photo attached to this email address and it will be received as an MMS.

  • N70 hangs during "Updating" Multimedia Messages

I am running WindowsXPsp2, using PC Suite 6.84 on a Toshiba TECRA laptop. I am connecting to a N70 m/phone using a USB cable.
    Problem:
When I click on the "Contacts" or "Messages" icon within PC Suite a new "Updating" window opens that shows the progress of synchronisation between phone and laptop but hangs (locks-up) during the sync of Multimedia Messages.

    Yes :-).
The problem is fixed by removing the "MMS Sync" applic from the phone. I can now upload SMS messages from my phone to my Laptop.
FYI. I re-installed "MMS Sync" applic on the phone and the problem re-appeared. It would appear there is a problem with the "MMS Sync" applic..??
    thanks for your help.

  • Multimedia messages,send and receive

Is there an application that you can get so that you can send and receive multimedia messages, ie ,pictures phone to phone.
This is one of the most common used items not to be able to do on that phone.

You can accomplish this via email.
Ask the sender of an MMS to address the MMS to an email address for an email account that you access with your iPhone's mail client. The sender will enter your email address in the To: field for the MMS instead of entering your cell phone number with area code.
The MMS will be received by you as an email with the photo attached to the message. If you also access this email account with an email client on your computer, you will have access to the received photo on your computer as well.
This will give you the sender's cell phone MMS email address - included in the From field for the received email. Add this email address to the contact's info in your iPhone's address book.
Select a photo to be emailed and when addressing the email to the sender's cell phone MMS email address - placing it in the To: field, the email with the photo attached will be received as an MMS by the recipient.
