Multiple accounts and Mail 3.5 (Leopard)

I've been trying to get Mail to get and send e-mail from multiple accounts using a single ISP (in this case, my Verizon DSL account). My older app, Eudora Pro, can easily do this (for both POP and IMAP), as it has a system called "Personalities," where you can setup a main personality (i.e., your primary ISP account), yet allow other personalities/accounts to use that ISP for the outgoing mail server. It seems that in Mail though, while getting incoming mail from multiple servers isn't the problem, sending mail from multiple accounts through one outgoing server (which requires what Eudora calls "relay SMTP authorization") is problematic. I've set up multiple accounts in Mail and can get incoming mail from them, but can't seem to send outgoing mail except from my main ISP account.
Any suggestions?

I have the same problem - My kids each have their own email account within their own user profile, and while they can receive mail, they cannot send it. Sending from my (admin) account is fine, and their outbound accounts are set up identical to mine. I love having separate accounts because I can control how much time each of my kids get (6 of them!)and I get to supervise content on the web but this issue and itunes does not allow them to play back any DRM purchased itunes - acts like they are on a separate computer, not a separate user on the same machine - all itunes are in the shared folder...

You're undoubtedly better off to set the mail on the server to forward to your central account, and only maintain one account in Mail. Trying to set up rules in Mail to download mail and then forward it is just going to become cumbersome, and runs the risk of creating some kind of infinite mail loop. (For example, someone sends something to one address, it gets forwarded but for some reason your primary account's mailbox is full. The other address gets the bounce notification and forwards it back to the primary, which generates another bounce... you see where this is going, I'm sure.

Signatures must be created for each account. If you create one sig in one account and a second in the other account, then each account has only one signature. You need to create the signatures you want independently in each account.

Multiple accounts with Mail

I am having serious trouble trying to set up several different accounts with Mail. I have arranged with my service provider to send all incoming mail from subsidiary addresses to one mailbox, but I want to be able to send from these different addresses. After setting up a first Mail account, for the address to which all incoming mail arrives, I tried to set up further accounts. These accounts all share incoming and outgoing mail servers with the primary account, but for some reason, Mail refuses to accept this, returning the error message “Trying to log in this POP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct”, even though they are indeed correct. The other error message returned is “An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made”.
Further confusing the issue, if I try to edit the SMTP server list, any new server name I input is immediately branded “offline”, with no apparent option to bring it online. Finally, demands that I re-type passwords ignore the fact that I have just done so (correctly)...
The impression I am getting is that either Mail cannot be connected to more than one POP server, and/or that two accounts cannot share the same incoming and outgoing mail servers. Is either of these correct? What is particularly confusing is that Microsoft Outlook had none of these problems with multiple accounts, and happily allowed different accounts to share servers. Is this a built-in limitation of Mail, and should I be looking elsewhere for a solution?

Thanks a lot.
In house only but printing done by non-sap software. Due to problem with the software some customers may not get invoices. They will send mail or call. We will reprint and send it back to them.
We want to automate this process in SAP or by atleast see how many are printed and mailed successfully in SAP. So that we will compare this figure with the actual printing output figure with non sap software. Is there any standard report available?.

Why would you delete your iCloud account for a password change with your Yahoo account?
Regardless, if no problem re-creating your iCloud account on your iPad, contact Yahoo technical support.

Solution for sending/receiving multiple accounts via Mail and web Gmail

I don't know why I haven't seen this before, especially since I've posted about this with no solutions, but I just discovered I can now do the following:
I have multiple email accounts from multiple domain names, and can send and receive from all accounts through Apple Mail as well as only one Gmail web client.
At the gmail.com web client, I go to Settings: Accounts and Import and click on Send mail from another address. I fill in the obvious info for each email account I want to add, choose 'Send through Gmail', and follow instructions to verify.
At the Apple Mail client, after configuring my Gmail account (instructions on how to do this are all over the web), I go to Preferences: choose the Gmail account: Account Information: Email Address and add in all the email addresses I want to use separated by commas (ie [email protected], [email protected], [email protected])
Now when I send to or from any of these emails, it sends and receives with the correct From: and To: emails, as well as replies to the correct emails.
As for the iPhone, I just add accounts for each of the emails I want to send from and put in wrong info for the incoming mail (ignoring the initial 'can't connect' pop-ups). I receive all mail just fine and can send.
Again, this didn't work a few months ago, but it does now. Maybe I'm missing something without realizing it yet.

How do I add 2003 Exchange account to Mail using Snow Leopard

I have my Exchange 2003 account working on my iPhone perfectly. I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and would like to add the account to Mail. When I go through the set-up it asks me different info than the iPhone did. I've tried several possibilities without success. Is Exchange 2003 functional with SL in Mail?

I believe Mail requires 2007, the same as the EWS version of Entourage.

Import of accounts and mails

I have made a backup of the old Tiger system, but have made a clean install of Leopard.
I want to import my mailaccounts since I have about 5 of them and I can't remember all the passwords and servers.
Also I would like to import my emails to the respctive inboxe's and (hopefully not) into an "Import inbox "

I can't directly answer your question, sorry. I do want to contribute to this thread though. I am about ready to install Leopard. I plan to do an "erase and install" and do not plan to migrate my user account. Rather I want tabula rasa. What would like to do though is to have the ability to bring back all of my mail (from assorted accounts and folders) into a folder (or some other mechanism) called "From Tiger."
The plan moving forward would be to delete the messages I eventually no longer desire to keep and then just leave the old mail hanging around in that folder so that Spotlight can index it and I can find stuff as need be.
Any thoughts on this?

How do I create subfolders UNDER multiple accounts in Mail, similar to Outlook?

I am trying to move from Outlook 2011 MAC to Apple Mail. I understand how to drag my folders (mbox) but I have 3 mail accounts in Outlook and want to create these same accounts in Mail...followed by the specific folders under each mail account.
Mail doesn't seem to allow me to simply drag a subfolder under a particular account. I'm on the latest version of Mountain Lion, as an FYI.
Can someone help me because there has to be a way to keep things organized by email account and respective subfolder.

I switched to the Mac in 2004, but I've never really used Mail (been using Entourage). I set up an IMAP account in Mail, and was very impressed. So I decided to set up my other IMAP account, too. Now things are a bit messed up. I have these folders
Inbox
Drafts
Sent
Junk
Trash
Email1
Email2
Under Email1 and Email2 are all the IMAP folders for the respective email address, except Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Junk and Trash are separate, and each of those folders has a folder in it called Email1 and one called Email2. How can I change this so that I just ahve the Email1 and Email2 folders, and everything appears under those?
On a less important note, is there any way to make Mail ignore IMAP folders? My email server creates a folder called '.mailboxes' for each IMAP account, and just stores some of its information in there, nothing I want in Mail. So is there a way I can hide this .mailboxes folder?

Hi mr max pie whatever.
This is actually one of Mail’s best features and cannot be changed.
Instead of grouping mailboxes by account, Mail groups them by purpose first (and uses the account name to differentiate the individual mailboxes associated with each account), then groups by account the remaining mailboxes that don’t belong to any of the standard groups.
This has the advantage of letting you choose at any time, and independently for each mailbox type, whether you want to look at your Inbox, Sent, Trash, etc. mailboxes as if you had just one of them shared by all accounts (i.e. an aggregate), or look at each of the corresponding individual mailboxes separately.
As to the “.mailboxes” folder that you’d rather not see there, I believe Mail shouldn’t show it if the name begins with a period. Moreover, I’ve troubleshooted a few cases where the problem was the opposite, i.e. the user had renamed a mailbox with a leading period and it became inaccessible as a result. I don’t know why Mail behaves so inconsistently in this regard. If all the server-stored mailboxes were subfolders of a parent folder, you could solve the problem by typing the name of the parent folder in Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > IMAP Path Prefix...

I recently set up multiple accounts and when I was trying to figure out how to share files I messed up something in my documents. Everytime I open a doc from the ADMIN account, a box pops up that says "The file is not in the correct format" how to fix?

Without knowing what you did it is impossible to give advice on how to correct it.
If these were files you copied over from some other system then just Re-Copy them replacing the ones that are corrupted.
Other then that I suggest you Wipe the drive and start over with a clean reinstall of the OS and programs. Then if you want to share files to All Accounts place those files in a folder in the ROOT of the drive.

Problem with .mac account and mail 2.05 (os x 10.4.4)

hi!
i am not able to add a .mac account in mail 2.05. system is os x 10.4.4.
.mac settings in system preference work fine, on my cube with os 10.3.9 i can add the .mac account without problems.
in mail under 10.4.4 i can´t even select accounts besides IMAP, POP and EXCHANGE. if i delete mails plist and even the mail file and achieving a "virginal mail" i just can select these 3 accounts (POP,IMAP,EXCHANGE). strange because if i setup .mac settings in system preferences before setting up a POP mail account (i have 3 POP accounts besides .mac), the .mac account is automatically set up in mail. but even than i can´t set up manually (another) .mac account (can´t be selected in account pulldown menue) as well as soon as i delete it it can´t be resetup.
no way with new user, same procedure. i reinstalled mail from tiger-dvd as well as reinstalling 10.4.4 combo update and repair disc permissions. no way to get .mac to work the normal way.
has anyone any idea?

the empty folder ~/Library/Mail/ at root level seemed to be the problem of not being able to activating the .Mac account in mail. after copying this folder onto harddisk again (i have a new "20 iMac at work with 10.4.4) the problem was solved. no idea how to get this folder again besides installing a blank 10.4.x install onto external firewire hdd or having a second system...

i guess i made a mistake when migrating my old mail prefs from 10.3.x to 10.4.x blank install when moving the folders to 10.4.x maybe i have first choosen the ~/Library/Mail/ folder at root level and when recognizing that mail is not working with new user, i´m sure i might have deleted the whole mail prefs and mail folder on root level and copied the whole stuff again into USER/Library/Mail/. Therefore the folder ~/Library/Mail/ at root level became empty. i purchased .Mac just a few days ago so i recognized this failure just now...
