Multiple Accounts on one computer (individual family members)

I recently set up itunes on my computer, but only have my account. Is there a way where I can set up a new account for a different person?

Set up a new Windows Vista user account, or follow the instructions in this article.

I have 3 i phones.  Can I have multiple accounts on one computer where it keeps the contacta and calendar for each?

My daughter and I both have iphones. I created an account (not separate itunes) for her on my computer so she could sync her phone/itunes but not have it interfere with mine since we have WAY different taste in music. Creating a different computer profile should work if you have separate itunes accounts, too.
If you all use the same itunes account, you can turn on Home Sharing. That way you can all download the same content without having to pay for it again. Not sure how or if that works with separate itunes accounts.
    Hope that helps!

  • Can I authorize multiple accounts on one computer?

Can I authorize multiple accounts on one computer?

Unfortunately you can't do the logical and convenient thing of authorizing a computer with multiple Adobe IDs that are active simultaneously.
You can authorize accounts from different vendors; one account per vendor.
If you have multiple operating system users set up on the computer,  you can register different OS users as different Adobe Account users.

  • What are the options to use itunes with multiple accounts on one computer

I am totally confused; apple phone support seems to have no clue at least the person I spoke to. I want to get two iTunes accounts on one computer, one exists already. I am not sure what apple allows in this case. I was told at a apple store that if you create another PC profile you should be able to get the second iTunes account on the same computer with the new windows profile. There seems to be no info on the discussions board to this issue.
I do not want to share an account and have a second library I think it would be too confusing for the other person. Is this possible?

You can purchase music using multiple accounts within the same Windows profile & using the same iTunes library. I think when you log into the store it remembers the last account name used, but provided you don't let it remember your password then you have the opportunity to enter the correct details for each purchase.
If you're going to place these purchases on your respective iPod's the following may help.
*How to use multiple iPods with one computer*
The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
I currently manage our family's five iPods using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their iPod. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.

How to set up multiple accounts in itunes

This is from the link John Galt gave:
"If you share your computer with other people, you can maintain separate user accounts for each person who uses the computer. This is useful especially if each user has different tastes in music or other media; users can maintain separate, personalized iTunes libraries and can customize their devices' sync settings accordingly."
Which only works if all user accounts use the SAME iTunes account. This is not what the original question was. I have 2 iTunes accounts and 1 Mac. I have 2 user accounts setup and each account uses a seperate iTunes account. The problem is since they introduced this ridiculous 90 day rule when switching iTunes accounts this no longer works. I was happily using my current acount and when I switched to the older account to download my old movies I bought on it I got hit with the "you have to wait 90 days before switching iTunes accounts" when I tried to go back to my original account.
This has broken and ruined what used to be a great system. Let me explain:
Back in 2000 when you bought a DVD you could take this DVD with you to your friends house and pop it in their player and enjoy the movie.
Fast forward to future where no-one wants shiny disc or any other physical medium you go to your friends place and log into your account and watch the movie that way. Simple easy... till the 90 day rule.
I fully understand the logic behind it (protecting their IP), but it breaks the system for legit users. Copyright has always stood in the way of progress. There isn't a single copyright protection on shiny disc that has not been broken. All that engineering effort, time and money and you can download a free app to break it.
You cannot stop piracy, just like you cannot stop thieves. You can however try and catch them AFTER the act and punish them. This 90 day rule is like not allowing you to walk into the same store more than once in 3 months in case you might have stolen something the first time you where there. It's a stupid way to prevent something that is un-preventable.
There are many ways to get around the 90 day rule for people that do want to pirate someone elses library, but it does completely block someone who is just trying to use his own purchased media in a legit way. Stupid...
I am now forced to own 2 seperate computers just to access my 2 iTunes accounts.

  • Multiple accounts on one computer - one or multiple licenses?

I have one simple question about the limitations of the Adobe Muse (and other) product. I do understand that I can install it on two computers and use both but not at the same time. Fine. However, On one of my machines I have different accounts for different purposes. Still, it is only me that is using them. Does the activation in each account on the same machine (I'm talking about Apple here) count towards these two installations or not. In other words, can I enable an Adobe Muse license on e.g. two accounts on one machine and still have it installed and active on my laptop?

Means the licensing is not computer based as stated but based on a individual account on a computer.

  • I'm unable to access multiple accounts from one computer on Apple TV.

I have an imac running OSX (10.5.8). There are three accounts on the computer, and each one is connected to Home Sharing using the same account.
Whenever I try to access the files on accounts (other than the first one signed on), I get a message saying that it cannot access the library. However, each account is signed on with their itunes open. The first account to sign on when the computer is started-up never has an issue. It's each other account.
Does anybody have any information regarding this? I'm really at a loss for what to do.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I don't have any problems doing the same thing, do they share content, are they all using admin accounts.

  • How do i access multiple accounts on one computer

I have several apple devices in my home and i can't seem to see the different purchases when i plug in the different devices.  I have itunes installed on my computer, do i have to sign in each time with the apple id of each user to see their purchases, libraries, apps, etc....?  i get so frustrated with itunes.......help

Create multiple Windows User Profile with each managing his own iTunes account and library.
To create a user account on Windows 7:
To open User Accounts, click the Start button , click Control Panel, under 'User Accounts and Family Safety', select Add or Remove User Accounts.
    Click Create a new account.
Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type(make sure to give Administrator), and then click Create Account.

  • Multiple accounts with one computer/email

My 2 children and myself are getting iphones and need to each have an itunes account.  I have one already the whole family has access too, but I need to create 2 more accounts, but would like to use the same email address.  How do I do this (the easiest way possible)?

You can only associate one email address per Apple ID. You cannot merge Apple IDs like that. You'll have to use a different email address for each Apple ID or use the same account for all devices.

  • When one or more family members who have been sharing one iTunes account wants to create their own iTunes account can they each upload the music/apps from the shared iTunes on their devices to the new iTunes account?

When one or more family members who have been sharing one iTunes account wants to create their own iTunes account can they each upload the music/apps from the shared iTunes on their devices to the new iTunes account?

Yes. I would clarify your statement about the "shared" iTunes Library though. If you want each iOS device to have its own music library, you should create separate user accounts for them. Read:

  • How to make Multiple I-Tunes & ICloud Accounts on one computer?

How do you set up multiple itunes accounts on one computer?  Can this be done for ICloud as well?
We have a family computer and not everyone has the same music, calendar etc...
    AKingsmill

Since the Mail.app preference file (along with all other application preference files for a user account) is stored in that user's Home folder/directory, I don't believe this is possible.
