Multiple Adobe Reader versions on Windows 7

HI
I am trying to find out if there is a way we can have 2 versions of Adobe Reader running on the same machine
We have over 15000 machines that are running an older version of adobe that needs to be there for certain programs to work but also need to be able to install
v10.1.4 on the same system
Is there a way to get the Installer to install in another location, is there certain files we could extract that will allow multiple versions to run side by side
Thanks
Mo

The offline installer (http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/) will allow installing to a different than the standard location, but that still will not allow to have multiple versions installed.
You can, of course, keep an older version of AcroRd32.exe somewhere, but it would have to be invoked manually, not through a function call or file association.

  • Multiple Adobe Reader versions

    Hi there!
I'd like to know if there is the possibility to run different versions of Adobe Reader in a Windows Xp SP3.
I ask you this, because I noticed that some actions that are possible with Reader 7, are not possible with 8 and for my job (I work in a copy shop) I need to use both 7, 8 and sometimes 9.
Have I to create another user in the OS?
    What can I do else?
    Thank you!
    Alberto

Adobe doesn't support running multiple versions, it is known to cause problems. You can use virtualization software to run multiple versions of the OS on the same computer. This could solve your problem.

  • Adobe Reader Versions Compatible with Window 7 & I.E. 8.0

We have a few users that experience blank pages or a pop-up with no text and only an OK button when trying to open an Adobe (web) Form with Adobe Reader 9.0 or 9.4.2 or 9.4.0 on Window 7 and I.E. 8.  Adobe Reader X is not an option since it is not supported within our firm. Does anyone have a list of the compatible Adobe Reader Versions for Windows 7 and I.E. 8. I'm sure this is highly unlikely, but does Adobe have a matrix that indicates the compatible version according to O.S. and Browser?

What is your operating system and email client?  If you use web-based email, in what browser?
What exactly does "not work" mean?  I have no problems using Save As with email attachments and Reader 11.0.6.

  • Adobe Acrobat Prof. 8 and Adobe Reader Version 11 under Windows 8.1 x64

    Good Afternoon,
my company plan migration from Windows XP to Windows 8.1 x64. For this reason shall I find out, which Software run under Windows 8.1 x64. From Adobe Products we need to know, if  Adobe Acrobat Prof. 8 and Adobe Reader Version 11 run under Windows 8.1.
If the Software named above run not under Windows 8.1 x64, could you write me please, which version we need und how much it is. Thank you very much.
    Best Regards

If you have Acrobat, there is no need for Reader. Acrobat 8 is not certified for use on Win8.1, only Acrobat XI. You can get the current cost from the Adobe Store at Adobe.com. The cost is a per computer license. If you have a lot of computer, you might be able to negotiate with Adobe on a volume order or site license (for so many licenses) -- you would have to call Adobe on that.
AA 8 can be made to work in some cases, but I would not recommend it in a business environment. It is not worth risking some hickup with software that is marginally compatible when you have some deadline or such.

  • Adobe Reader X and Windows 7 Enterprise Memory Leak

Hi I am using Adobe Reader X with Windows 7 enterprise when reading a 8000 page document when I do a search I notice that the memory on my machine starts to creep up typically 1Mb per search this will continue to rise to over 300Mb as the document is used until it reaches a point that it freezes the machine, The only way to recover is Ctrl-Alt-Delete and cancel the task. Has this been observed by other users?

    Good day,
Could you provide some additional details about both the file and your system's configuration?
What version of Adobe Reader X do you have installed? (Help > About Adobe Reader)
If you haven't updated to 10.0.3, please do so and see if the issue persists.
How was the PDF file you're searching created?  (File > Document Properties > What does the PDF Producer line say?)
Are you experiencing this with multiple files?
Have you installed SP1 for Windows 7?

I'm having a similar problem when following hyperlinks from PDFs. Adobe Reader 11.0.07 hangs and ties up half the CPU. Again, Windows 7 Professional SP 1, Pentium dual core E6700 4 GB. Have tried running the cleaner tool and reloading, no change. The leap in CPU below is the point at which the hyperlink was selected.

  • Adobe Reader Version XI (11.0.06) vs Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard Version 9.5.5

Do I have to install Adobe Reader Version XI (11.0.06) when I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard Version 9.5.5 on my WIN7 Pro, just because Firefox 26.0 needs a newer plugin?

No. 9.5.5 is the latest version but it is no longer supported with updates. It is possible to get Firefox to stop blocking.
Version 11 does have significant security enhancements though, particularly on Windows.

  • How do you search bold text in Adobe Reader XI for Windows?

We create documents electronically that contain bold text for a client. No matter what we try in Adobe Reader XI for Windows, bold text is not found. Is it not searchable? Is there a setting that we are overlooking to enable it? So far, only NitroPDF is the only program I can find that works.

I just created a small test PDF (test_bold.pdf) with some bold words in it.  Reader XI (11.0.09) has no trouble finding these words.
You can download the test doc from https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/333accd7-f54b-40f4-b06f-f14a3608f120
Search for the word lazy that has been boldened multiple times in the doc.

  • Barcode size problem in different adobe reader versions

    Hi,
In one of my requirements of Adobe form, I am displaying barcode for a value. The problem is of size of barcode which varies on different machines based on Adobe Reader version.
On one machine 'Adobe Reader' version 9.4.0 is installed and on other machine 'Adobe Reader X' version 10.0.1 is installed. The barcode is displayed in correct size in version 10.0.1 while only half barcode is displayed in version 9.4.0 when value of the property 'Data length' is set to 10 (which is default).
If I set the value of same property to 26 in order to fit the barcode in specified space in version 9.4.0, same barcode is displayed in half size in version 10.0.1.
    Kindly give suggestions.
    Regards.

You cannot use Reader X until it has been installed. Installing means that the appropriate configuration has been entered into the Windows Registry. Copying a folder from another computer doesn't achieve that goal.
Here's what I suggest you do now.
Run this Microsoft fix first of all: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Uninstall via Reader via Add/Remove Programs
Download and install Reader X from here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/direct/
P.S. There are some programs which are so called 'Standalone' apps. That means that the executable will run without using a system's processes. But Adobe Reader isn't one of them.

What is the Reader XI version you installed?
Does this also happen when you open Reader by itself?  If not, can you try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • Adobe Reader Enterprise for Windows Server 2012 (R2)

    Hi,
I want to silently install the latest version of Adobe Reader on a Windows Server 2012 server. When I want to download the offline installer at http://get.adobe.com/nl/reader/enterprise/ I do not see Windows Server 2012 (and/or R2) listed. Is the offline installer supported for Windows Server 2012 and/or Windows Server 2012 R2?
How can I get this to work?
    Thanks in advance.

The Technical Specifications are here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/tech-specs.html
It doesn't mention Windows Server 2012.
If this is for Citrix or WTS you should get a distribution agreement and then also get the Distribution version of Adobe Reader.

  • Adobe Reader Version 9.4.0.195 uninstall if have version 10?

Hi looking for some help please.
I have Adobe Reader Version 9.4.0.195 on my computer, but I also have the later version 10. something. Will it affect the version 10 if I uninstall the older version? I am trying to free up some space on my laptop. Likewise for Adobe Acrobat (same versions).
    Thanks!

    What is your operating system?
If Windows, I would run the Acrobat Cleaner Tool, the reinstall Acrobat X and Reader X.

  • Suche Installationsresourcen Adobe Reader Version 9.5 (deutsch)

  • Which Adobe Reader version is installed in my computer?

I am thinking of getting the update for Adobe Reader version 10.  I know I have Adobe Reader 10.something!  I am satisfied with the Flash 11 and Reader products.
    * How do I find out which version of Adobe Reader (10.x.x) is on my computer??
I'd appreciate an answer if someone knows.
    Thanks!

Assuming that you are on Windows, open Adobe Reader | Help | About Adobe Reader X.  You will see your Reader version displayed at the bottom of that pop-up window.
