Multiple AE, multiple Airplay.

Hi All,
I am wondering if this can be done...
I want to install 2 x Airport Express ( one in living room, one in kids bedroom)
I am going to plug the expresses into a small audio system in each area,
but I will be playing different source from the kids, can AE 'cope' with this??
All help appreciated.
John

Yes, you can send different music to different Expresses.

  • Multiple Users, Multiple iPods sync problem

At home my iMac is set up with multiple accounts for my family members, 2 have iPod Nano's and I've an iPhone. Each of us has our own iTunes library. Now, a lot of the time I will stay logged in and just return to the log in window. Same goes with the kids who do the same (Time limited accounts means this happens quite often as they don't get logged off automatically).
Up until 9.1 iTunes (I think, could have been 9.0) everything worked fine. I would leave my iTunes running constantly - this allowed me to stream over to our Airport Express units using the iPhone Remote app whenever I felt the need.... However, we've now run into a problem.
More often than not my daughter will log in, dock her iPod and it won't show up on her iTunes - instead I have to switch to my user account where I'll find it showing up on MY iTunes! I then have to shut down my iTunes to allow her to sync her iPod with her iTunes.
This didn't used to happen, it used to be that the user who was CURRENTLY logged on would get the plugged in iPod but that appears to be totally broken - I can't find any documents that say this is the way it was meant to work, searching the 'net for multiple users, multiple iTunes turns up so much that it's impossible to find any related issue.
Is anybody else noticing this? Am I doing something daft wanting to use iPods & iTunes like this? Any suggestions on how to fix the issue?
    Thanks for any help!

    Chris CA wrote:

But according to your post, other users are still CURRENTLY logged on.
Ok, so 'logged on' is vague, the other users are still logged on. I mean the user that has the desktop focus. The active user.
a lot of the time *_I will stay logged in_* and just return to the log in window. Same goes with the kids who do the same (Time limited accounts means this happens quite often as *_they don't get logged off_* automatically).
You can set System prefs - Security to log users off after xx minutes of inactivity.
Yes, you can, but that does not solve the issue on 2 levels:
    1. If I did that then I couldn't leave my iTunes logged in to be able to stream from it to my Airport Express units. I'd have to manually go to the iMac and log myself in - which would kinda defeat the benefit of being able to control this all remotely as I've been doing perfectly happily for the past couple of years. 9 times out of 10 I don't want to be logged off for any number of reasons.
    2. As I said, some members of the household have Time Limits on their accounts via Parental Controls. This does not log users off, it merely drops them back to the login window. There is no way that I know of setting this up to actually log off. As a side issue, it'd be great if I could specify that for certain members of the family who use up all their time and get pushed back to the login window with Flash games running in a browser window consuming CPU unnecessarily... but that's a side-issue.
You can send suggestions for iTunes here -> http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
Um, ok, great, suggestion: Make iTunes work the way it used to work please . Seriously though, this is not a new feature request, I want to see if other people have experienced this and if there is a work-around out there.

  • Multiple Input Multiple Output Fuzzy Logic Controller

I am designing an autotuning PID temperature control system whose PID gains are adjusted using a Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Fuzzy Controller. I am unsure how to set up specific inputs and how to use specific outputs when there are multiple inputs and outputs. Specifically, my Fuzzy system has two inputs and three outputs.
For the input, I have two 1D arrays of scalars (doubles) which I have used to build an array and concatanated the inputs to the array. How do I configure which values of this array are used as each specific input value to the fuzzy system?
Similarly, for the output, the fuzzy system gives three output values which are used as the PID gains. How do I configure these such that they are in the right order to be used as the PID Gains of the PID VI?

    Hi natsmi,
You can find some examples by navigating to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW XXXX\examples\control\fuzzy
Some of them are at least MISO systems and might be helpful to clarify some ideas. You can also find them using the Example Finder from LabVIEW (By going to help on the top menu, and then Find Examples). There you can go to the search tab on the left and type in fuzzy.
    Hope this helps.

  • Incoming Excise Invoice::Whats the meaning of multiple GR multiple credits?

    Hello CIN Experts ,
Pls clarify with an eg if possible of multiple GR multiple credits in case of incoming excise invoices .
Does that mean that i can have the same invoice no. in more than one GR ??
If so ..... whenever i try to post the second GR with the same vendor excise invoice number .. the system says " an excise invoice already exists for the same vendor."
What is the functionality of the so called multiple GR multiple credits
    Rgds
    Anis

    Hello SAP Learner ,
As per ur reply ... if there is a 100kg  PO qty & in the first GR the recieved qty is 50 , then the credit that we would be able to take would be that of 50 kg only  , which the system would prorate & hence subsequently i would post the excise invoice & take the credit for only 50  kg ...
Later if the balance open qty as per PO are cancelled then there is no  question of GR & hence credit .
Still the utitity  as well as functionality of multiple GR multiple credits is not very clear .
pls do revert bk wid ur valuable inputs

  • Multiple-answer multiple-choice grading

Hello! I'm trying to create a quiz in Captivate 4, but I'm running into a bit of trouble. I'm using multiple-answer multiple-choice questions, but I'd like to grade them granularly, instead of completely. So far, if a user misses one answer, or checks just one of them that is incorrect, the entire question is counted wrong. I'd like to be able to give the user 10 points for each correct answer in the question (and possibly -10 points for each extra "wrong" answer).
Is there any way to modify the grading for these questions other than writing my own question widget?
    Thanks! Tim

  • Using multiple speakers with AirPlay on iPad

On my Mac I can play music from iTunes on my computer, Apple TV and on my Airport Express. But on the iPad I can only pick one, is there anyway i can choose multiple speakers on the iPad?

    HOUSE PARTY SUCCESS!!!
I have an ATV3 in the living room, one in the bedroom, and one in the garage (for streaming music out there too...).  To get the whole compound in sync and have the same music everywhere AND control it from my iPhone, it was / is this easy:
In iTunes, select multiple airplay devices so everywhere you want the music playing is selected.  Use the Apple Remote app on your iPhone / iPad and control your iTunes, NOT your ATV.  Bada-bing!  Full house party music to all the devices and controlled by the phone in your pocket!!!
They should still let you do this from any iOS device directly though...
    Enjoy!

  • After adding Apple TV, my itunes multiple speaker icon (airplay?) blocks speaker output on my pc.  Local speaker output will not highlight.  Any ideas?

After installing Apple TV on another TV, my Itunes on my PC will not output to speakers.  Apple TV added multiple speaker icon but it will not highlight "local computer".  I can check box but volume bar won't open and no sound comes through although speaker mixer shows signal.  Any ideas?

This same thing is happening to me on only my 2011 Macbook Pro. My other macs and iOS devices can all stream audio to my airplay devices (airport express and atv2) just fine.
On my Macbook Pro trying to play to 1 external speaker
Click the airplay button in iTunes (airplay logo lights blue)
    Select ATV2 or Airport Express
Airplay logo goes back to gray
No audio is played out of airplay
On my Macbook Pro trying to play to multiple external speakers
Click the airplay button in iTunes
    Select "Multiple speakers..."
Check the box next to ATV2 or Airport express
Check box "depresses" like I've clicked it, but the box is never checked
No audio is played out of airplay
Like I said, all of these things work perfectly on all of my other apple devices. It's just this one Macbook Pro that it's failing on. It seemed like it just started failing a month or so ago. It's driving me bonkers!

  • Can multiple devices use AirPlay simultaneously?

From whats I've read, a single AirPlay device can currently only play one source at a time, albeit in multiple rooms.
Since I have multiple AirPlay source devices (2 iPhone 4s, a MacBook, and a MacBook Pro, all running current OS/iTunes software), can I use one device to play audio source A in one or more rooms while using another AirPlay device to play audio source B in other rooms at the same time?
On a related note, if I'm using an AirPlay device to send audio to a room, and then someone else tries to use their AirPlay device to send music to the same room, what happens?
    Thanks.

According to a response from the folks at Radium, the answers are:
    1. Yes
    2.  "If you try to send audio to an AirPlay device already in use, it'll either cut out the other source and connect anyway, or have a connection failure depending on the combination of the AirPlay device and other program that's currently streaming to it."

  • Multiple apple TV airplay setup

If i have 3 apple TV connected to 3 TV separately, and they are connected to the same router. When i use airplay from my ipad, will all 3 TV be showing the same screen from my ipad? or can i select my ipad content to show on which TV?

If I understand you correctly, then yes. Follow the instructions below to use either Basic AirPlay or Mirroring.
Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2 (or better), iPad Mini, iPhone 4S (or better), double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.

  • Multiple airport-units - Airplay issue.

My network consists of one airport extreme and one airport express unit.
I am located quite far from the main unit (extreme), so I'm using the express as an network extender, or a "repeater" as you might call it. The express also doubles as my airplay receiver. So far, so good.
My brother, who is located closer to the extreme automatically gets connected to the express, (since it is even closer). The problem is that whenever I use airplay, his connection to our network gets really unstable and laggy (Since the airplay function occupies at least 150 kbit/s of upload to the express). And he's giving me **** about it.
My question is: is it possible for my brother to bypass the airport express connection, and directly connect to the airport extreme, while still charing the same network?
    Hope that wasn't to confusing!
    Cheers!

    Hi,
    Yes its possible.
Solutions is: As per my experience you have to create a Business Role. (EX: If you have 3 Units under your organization) Every Unit u have to create a Business Role and you have to maintain Role Cofig., key After done Role Cofigar you have to assign to Business Role.
Role Cofig., - IMG->CRM->UI Frame work->UI framework Definition ->Define Role Configuration Key
You assign role configuration keys to business roles in the IMG:
Customer relationship management > Business roles > Define business roles

  • Multiple websites, multiple woes: Best IWeb 09/MobileMe strategy?

I'm still a bit confused as to the best strategy for using IWeb 09's much-touted-in-reviews but apparently rather limited ability to publish to two or more separate MobileMe accounts.
In IWeb 08, I would set up several different user accounts on my Mac, associate each one with a separate MobileMe account from my Family Pack, and maintain separate domain files for each (all stored in the same folder on my hard drive, but given different names like "Domain_personal" or "Domain_business"). This worked fairly well, despite the inconvenience of sometimes not having a photo I wanted to use readily available, as it might be part of an IPhoto library that belonged to another account.
(I would generally log-in to the user account I wanted to use and work on the MobileMe domain file I had "assigned" to that account. But now and then I might forget, and start working on a domain file for the "wrong" Mac user account. That didn't seem to be a problem -- I could still save my latest changes, log out and then log in to the "right" user account, where I could publish my revised domain file to the intended MobileMe account.)
But in IWeb 09, my previous strategy is resulting in a slew of problems. Unexpected crashes. Or IWeb refusing to save a file after I've changed it (it just tells me the file cannot be saved, no explanation). Or images and/or video files that will suddenly go missing. Last night I found that one domain file/site I had published over and over with no problems in Iweb 08, now appeared to be a complete mess in IWeb 09 -- numerous missing images, including some png files that are apparently part of the Apple-supplied IWeb design template. Yet the graphics (mine and Apple's) were suddenly back when I opened that same domain file in another user account on my Mac.
So my IWeb 08 strategy does not seem to be working in IWeb 09. I guess an alternative would be: Do all my IWeb work in the same user account, swap domain files as I'd been doing before, and reset my MobileMe identity for that user account every time I want to publish. Or -- essentially the same thing -- use IWeb's ability to maintain multiple sites in the same domain file. But once again, I'd typically need to manually change my MobileMe identity to a different account at publishing time, to get an individual site going to the right place. And hope like heck that I don't accidentally mess up ICal, etc., by accidentally syncing to "wrong" Mobile Me account, to which I've logged in solely to accommodate IWeb.
Am I missing something here? Is there some logical reason why Apple would set up IWeb 09 to allow you to publish multiple sites, stored in one domain file, to various multiple external sites via FTP with ease? But make it essentially impractical to publish to several different MobileMe accounts, without the hassles I've mentioned?
It seems to me that if I want to use IWeb 09 for multiple web sites, the only sane thing is to drop my extra MobileMe accounts as soon as possible, and add some more external sites --- since (if you can do the RSS, etc., yourself) Apple has just made it so much easier to publish to anywhere-else-but-MobileMe.
Anybody have a different take on this? Or a better solution?

    webalias rex wrote:
Anybody have a different take on this? Or a better solution?
The following may not be a better solution, but it does provide a different "take". I haven't tried it myself, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a fatal flaw in the idea. Anyway, taking that risk...
Since we don't know what, in iWeb '09, is causing your "slew of problems", it's not possible to say whether this proposed approach would make any difference. But in theory it would enable you to:
    • maintain your separate Domain files
    • publish to your multiple MobileMe accounts
    • from the same user account on your Mac.
Take a look at this Apple doc:
MobileMe: How to publish a custom website
The idea is to publish your iWeb sites to different MobileMe accounts from a single Mac user account as +"custom websites"+ and, as that doc says:
"If you only plan to publish custom sites to your MobileMe account, you can make your site's URL shorter by placing your site (and its main index.html file) in the main Web/Sites folder instead."
...Presumably iWeb 09's integrated non-MobileMe publishing is FTP only, not WebDAV that iDisk requires. So you would need the free Cyberduck or pay for Transmit to publish your sites via WebDAV protocol to a MobileMe account's iDisk. And for a Domain you are about to publish, you would have to remember to use the appropriate MobileMe "destination" of the several you've set up to use in Cyberduck or Transmit.

  • What is icloud setup for Multiple users, multiple devices in family?

What would be the recommended setup for iCloud to allow family members with multiple devices and multiple iTune accounts to share purchases, sync there own mail account, contacts, and reminders with multiple devices, and be able to sync calenders with all family calendars? Or better yet how can family members pick and choose what to sync with a common iCloud account?

I'd like to know this to.
We have 1 mac mini that serves as a media station that streams audio to Zeppelin air and photos & movies to our TV.
My wife buys music on her iPhone. And takes pictures of the family.
I buy apps and music on my iPad. And make movies of the family.
I have a macbook pro ( itunes with home sharing,  iphoto home sharing ).
She has a nice macbook (  itunes with home sharing, iphoto home sharing ).
What we would want is that the mac mini collects all music / videos / media and streams it to all our apple devices via wifi ( not via internet ). But I with my appleID and she with her appleID.
I wonder is Apple can make an GUInterface that I can understand to solve this.
This iCloud seems not too suited.
For families it would be easier if iOS5 would have 'home sharing' with upload and not transfer everything to CA first.

  • Multiple family mbrs, multiple ipods, multiple accnts, multiple computers

I have a family of 6, we each have various ipods (iphone, ipod, nano, shuffle, etc), and we have multiple computers -- some Mac and some PC.
We need to understand what factors impact the ability to put a particular track on one or more devices, manage a given device from one or more accounts on one or more computers, and share, as allowed, between devices, people, iTunes libraries, iTunes store accounts, for both purchaed tracks and MP3 files that we might already own, etc...
I'm looking for a simple and concise description of all of the factors. Any pointers?
If the iTunes world were simple we could simply each have our own music -- stored in one or more places in one or more accounts, on one or more computers. We would be able to share what we like, and put whatever subset we like on whichever device, manage any device from any account on any computer, etc... Of course this could be subject to licenses, but it should at least be possible to get a statement of what license restrictions exist.
Can anyone suggest any references for this? I assumed it was simple, but anyone who has recently plugged a "guest" iPod into another computer will know this is not the case after having been rewarded with the choice of wiping all content off of the iPod, or somehow transferring the content to the friend / family member (with no clear indication of whether this also comprises transferring the content away from the original user, nor how, if possible, to undo such a move later, etc...)
I have seen an article relating to using multiple ipods with one computer, but it does not address all of the issues -- for example using one ipod with multiple computers, etc...
    Thanks in advance.

Let's see if we summarise the main points that will help you decide on a strategy:
+ An iPod can automatically sync (one-way transfer from iTunes to iPod) with just one iTunes library.
+ An iPod (but not an iPhone) in manual mode can accept tracks from multiple libraries.
+ iTunes can transfer (copy) purchases from an iPod into the library if authorised for the account used to purchase them.
+ Networks, memory sticks, portable hard drives, CD-R, DVD-D and iPod to PC transfer programs can be used to move other content between your libraries.
+ The new "home sharing" feature probably has some relevance too, but I've not explored just what the capabilities are.
+ For each account, DRM puchases can be authorised on up to 5 computers at any one time.
+ For each computer, up to 5 accounts may be authorised on it at any one time.
+ Each iPod may hold DRM content from up to 5 different accounts.
+ DRM content may be transfered to as many iPod's as you wish.
+ Most iTunes Store content is no longer subject to DRM, the main exceptions being Movies & Games/Applications.
+ iPods can be formated for use with either Mac or Windows. You can manage content on a Windows formatted iPod with either system, but the reverse is not the case. Firmware updates & restores must take place on the native system.
+ An undocumented/unsupported feature is that if you clone a library (make a complete copy of the iTunes library files and media content) and place this on another machine, an iPod "synced" to the original library will also see any clone as its "home" library. Once cloned you don't have to keep all the content available in each locataion. For regular iPods if syncable content cannot be found corresponding files on the device will be left alone (not updated or deleted).
+ The main database file of an iTunes library can only be opened by one process - multiple users on the same computer or over a network will lead to problems. Always close iTunes before switching profiles.
+ The media content folders can be simultaneously accessed by multiple accounts.
+ Automatic syncing has a number of advantages. You can update tag info. in iTunes knowing that when updated the iPod will recieve all the updates. Using playlists you can manage the content that will go on an iPod without having it connected. Ratings & playcounts can sync in both directions. All the content required to restore your iPod is in one location.
+ Manual management allows you to add content from whichever library you are connected to.
+ iTunes does not keep track of files moved or updated by other programs or instances of iTunes. If you share content folders then it is best to avoid the *Keep iTunes Media folder organised* option. When you update content on one machine, e.g. change a capitalisation or correct a spelling, other libraries will only notice the change if they access the file in some way, e.g. by playing it.
I'm sure there's more that I can't think of just now but that's a start.
    *Personal Case history:*
Our family has an iPhone, a Nano, 3 Classics (old & new) and a 5th gen. I started by making most of the purchases on my account, putting the children's gift cards onto my store account for example, but two now have their own accounts. I manage most of the music in one main library that sits on a network. One child has a separate library which started as clone of the original and then had content that he dislikes removed... This means I can update his iPod at either his machine or mine although if I add any of his music I have to remember to update both libraries. When he uses iTunes on his computer he only sees the rock/blues/metal that he likes whereas the main library has everybodys content lumped together.
All the iPods are set to sync automatically using the method two (Sync with selected playlists) from the Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer, although I have a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Playlist is Music" + "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Playlist is Music" + "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
This way each of us gets a different selection of content to suit our tastes and the capacity of our iPods. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.
However you choose to do things you should also create a backup. My main library gets synced to a portable hard drive using SyncToy 2.1 (Windows) which I sometimes take to work and sync there, giving me three complete copies of my library at any one time and I can update any iPod from any instance of the library. An occasional scan of the contnet folders with iTunes Folder Watch helps me catch up if, for example, a podcast has download at one location but the library is overwritten with a newer version from the other.
Hope that's given you some useful food for thought...
