Multiple-answer multiple-choice grading

Hello! I'm trying to create a quiz in Captivate 4, but I'm running into a bit of trouble. I'm using multiple-answer multiple-choice questions, but I'd like to grade them granularly, instead of completely. So far, if a user misses one answer, or checks just one of them that is incorrect, the entire question is counted wrong. I'd like to be able to give the user 10 points for each correct answer in the question (and possibly -10 points for each extra "wrong" answer).
Is there any way to modify the grading for these questions other than writing my own question widget?

I'd like to be able to give the user 4 points for A and B, none for 3, 2 points for C, 1 point for D and none for E.
Is there any way to modify the grading for these questions other than writing my own question widget, which i dont know how to do it? Would a template be availbale to do this as i am not really sure what i am doing!

How do i create a non-scored multiple answer question?

Hi,
I've tried to figure out the best way to do this in Captivate 7, but can't find an answer. I hope you can help me out as I'm stuck
I need to create a question with 10 possible answers. They are opinions only---not correct or incorrect.
Kind of like:
"You are going shopping. What do you want to buy?"
1. apples
2. bread
3. milk
4. muffins
5. flour
6. juice
7. pasta
8. dishwashing soap"
etc.
The learner should be able to select none, some, or all and then click submit and advance to next slide, with no feedback given. I do not need to track anything for the LMS.
What should I use to do it? Interaction, Quiz, Survey, or Widget?
I am pretty weak with variables, so hopefully your solution will be simple

Strange... You could have a MCQ that is a survey instead of a graded question (no score automatically) with multiple answers. Delete all the feedback messages and keep the buttons you want, only Submit is really necessary, you decide for the other buttons. But then the user will have to check at least one option. Maybe you can add the option 'I don't know' or 'I cannot choose'? That will be an easy solution.

Search Engine issues and how to get multiple answers in combo box

I'm doing a project in vb6 i have a data where when i search it should give multiple answers in combo box.
example i have a debtor code each debtor code as more than one addresses when i search in one debtor code how can i get multiple addresses in the combo box. my search engine command

Multiple Users, Multiple iPods sync problem

At home my iMac is set up with multiple accounts for my family members, 2 have iPod Nano's and I've an iPhone. Each of us has our own iTunes library. Now, a lot of the time I will stay logged in and just return to the log in window. Same goes with the kids who do the same (Time limited accounts means this happens quite often as they don't get logged off automatically).
Up until 9.1 iTunes (I think, could have been 9.0) everything worked fine. I would leave my iTunes running constantly - this allowed me to stream over to our Airport Express units using the iPhone Remote app whenever I felt the need.... However, we've now run into a problem.
More often than not my daughter will log in, dock her iPod and it won't show up on her iTunes - instead I have to switch to my user account where I'll find it showing up on MY iTunes! I then have to shut down my iTunes to allow her to sync her iPod with her iTunes.
This didn't used to happen, it used to be that the user who was CURRENTLY logged on would get the plugged in iPod but that appears to be totally broken - I can't find any documents that say this is the way it was meant to work, searching the 'net for multiple users, multiple iTunes turns up so much that it's impossible to find any related issue.
Is anybody else noticing this? Am I doing something daft wanting to use iPods & iTunes like this? Any suggestions on how to fix the issue?

Ok, so 'logged on' is vague, the other users are still logged on. I mean the user that has the desktop focus. The active user.

You can set System prefs - Security to log users off after xx minutes of inactivity.
Yes, you can, but that does not solve the issue on 2 levels:
1. If I did that then I couldn't leave my iTunes logged in to be able to stream from it to my Airport Express units. I'd have to manually go to the iMac and log myself in - which would kinda defeat the benefit of being able to control this all remotely as I've been doing perfectly happily for the past couple of years. 9 times out of 10 I don't want to be logged off for any number of reasons.
2. As I said, some members of the household have Time Limits on their accounts via Parental Controls. This does not log users off, it merely drops them back to the login window. There is no way that I know of setting this up to actually log off. As a side issue, it'd be great if I could specify that for certain members of the family who use up all their time and get pushed back to the login window with Flash games running in a browser window consuming CPU unnecessarily... but that's a side-issue.

Um, ok, great, suggestion: Make iTunes work the way it used to work please . Seriously though, this is not a new feature request, I want to see if other people have experienced this and if there is a work-around out there.

Multiple Input Multiple Output Fuzzy Logic Controller

I am designing an autotuning PID temperature control system whose PID gains are adjusted using a Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Fuzzy Controller. I am unsure how to set up specific inputs and how to use specific outputs when there are multiple inputs and outputs. Specifically, my Fuzzy system has two inputs and three outputs.
For the input, I have two 1D arrays of scalars (doubles) which I have used to build an array and concatanated the inputs to the array. How do I configure which values of this array are used as each specific input value to the fuzzy system?
Similarly, for the output, the fuzzy system gives three output values which are used as the PID gains. How do I configure these such that they are in the right order to be used as the PID Gains of the PID VI?

You can find some examples by navigating to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW XXXX\examples\control\fuzzy
Some of them are at least MISO systems and might be helpful to clarify some ideas. You can also find them using the Example Finder from LabVIEW (By going to help on the top menu, and then Find Examples). There you can go to the search tab on the left and type in fuzzy.

Incoming Excise Invoice::Whats the meaning of multiple GR multiple credits?

Hello CIN Experts ,
Pls clarify with an eg if possible of multiple GR multiple credits in case of incoming excise invoices .
Does that mean that i can have the same invoice no. in more than one GR ??
If so ..... whenever i try to post the second GR with the same vendor excise invoice number .. the system says " an excise invoice already exists for the same vendor."
What is the functionality of the so called multiple GR multiple credits

As per ur reply ... if there is a 100kg PO qty & in the first GR the recieved qty is 50 , then the credit that we would be able to take would be that of 50 kg only , which the system would prorate & hence subsequently i would post the excise invoice & take the credit for only 50 kg ...
Later if the balance open qty as per PO are cancelled then there is no question of GR & hence credit .
Still the utitity as well as functionality of multiple GR multiple credits is not very clear .

Please suggest how can we add left pane and right pane(Multiple Panes/Multiple Views) in single FACET , Do we need to create mutiple custom BO's or single custom BO is enough.    Is it feasible requirement to place mutilple panes/views in a single FACET.   Please suggest.

Multiple choice with multiple answers

Hello,
I was wondering if someone can help me out. I'm creating a series of tutorials useing Captivate and at the end of each one I want a slide that has the options
a) re-run tutorial (jump back about 100 slides)
b)go to next tutorial (next slide)
c)return to start (jump to slide 1)
I've had a look at the multiple choice questions in Captivate but they only seem to alow you to make one movement with a "correct" answer and I'm looking for more of a navigational tool. Would this functionality be stored under the 'Quiz' section or somewhere else or is this function just not available in this tool?

Hi there
Notice that with the Multiple Choice question type, when you select one of the possible answers you have an Advanced button that may be clicked. You may then assign a different action for each answer selected. So answer a could jump back 100 slides, answer b could open another project and answer c could perhaps open Google.

Quiz scoring for multiple answers

Hi there.
I've got a quiz with a few questions that have more than one answer. For example, a fill in the blanks with 5 blanks.
Is there any way to have the user score 1 point per blank? At the moment if I set it to 5 points, they still score 0, even if they get 4 out of the 5 correct.
I'm trying to do the same thing for a matching question too (1 point per correct match).

Indeed. You can 'add' that score to the Quiz total (look in Advanced Interaction panel - F9) and the system quizzing variables take into account the score obtained by those interactive objects: buttons, shape buttons, Text Entry Buttons, click boxes and interactive widgets. Have multiple examples on my blog (some claim it is worthless, incomprehensible) of custom question slides created with standard objects where the score is obtained using interactive objects.

FI certification exams multiple answers

Hi,
Can anybody clarify my doubt about SAP FI certification examination, suppose there are total 5 multiple correct answers and candidate give 4 correct answers, in this case whole question will be considered as "Incorrect" or there is some flexible marking for correct answers?

At the same time you do not have negative marks.
The good point in this pattern is on the question itself they will mention how many right answers are available. Therefore, it is very easy to guess. Since, you do not have negative marks, it is always worth guessing.
Final Point: If your basics are strong, then whatever pattern it is, you are bound to pass. Therefore, please brush up your basics, as the certification mostly touch fundamentals.
Please read each certification book RELIGIOUSLY not less than 5 time before going to examination. All the best.

Is there a way to make a form that allows the user to select multiple answers from a dropdown?

I work for a school that is building a form right now, and one thing we would like to do is have a list of teachers that can be selected from a drop down menu, effectively allowing the user to choose four or five from a list of twelve. Is there a way to do this? I see checkboxes, but that doesn't seem like a good answer for something that has twelve choices. I rolled through the other examples, and they all were single choice.

Thanks for responding. I've added the list box, but I'm not sure how to select two options that aren't right on top of each other. Is it possible to add check boxes? I've also added a scroll bar to make it easier to browse. I've included a screenshot to show what it looks like.

Frustration with multiple answers on when I'll get my pre-ordered iPhone 4s

I ordered the 4s on 10/7 and received my confirmation email at 6:18 CST. Did not receive it on 10/14 as stated in the email. Have talked to three customer service reps last night and this morning with different answers. The first said that my order wasn't received until 5:30 on the 7th and I would be receiving it on the 21st......not good enough. I asked for her supervisor and after a 13 min hold, the sup said that there was nothing she could do. After some additional "conversation", she said that she would call around today and see if she could get me one locally. I called back this morning having no confidence that she would find one, the customer service rep said "you were told last night that you would be shipped one to be delivered Monday." She could give no tracking number. Which story do I believe? Verizon has always been great...till now. Do I believe that I will get one Monday or do I try find one locally? Is this a sign that the company is falling apart? Do I start dumping my stock?

Answers: Multiple sorts for different rsum (multiple ABC-Analysis in one)

I want to do an ABC-Analysis i.e. on my ProducLines. I am doing it by using something like:
CASE WHEN
RSUM(Sales / SUM(Sales by) * 100) < 75 then 'A'
WHEN ... THEN 'B'
ELSE 'C'
END
This works fine so far but I need to take the column "Sales" into my request and order the request on that. (to get the "big ones" at the beginning)

My Problem now:
I would like to do this ABC-Analysis Sales and SalesPreviousMonth and SalesYTD all three in one and the same request.
I did not find out how I can do different "order by" for my three different Formula-columns. I tried with UNION ALL but did not really get it until now (only the final result can be sorted, but I would need sort column in the subrequests to get correct A,B,C-Values).
Did anyone already have a similar requirement? How did you solve it?

I am also baffled. I tried to find this "default Captivate quiz" in the help section of Captivate with no results. When I again contacted the representative, he closed the conversation before speaking with me.

OMG, it is my frustration day, really. All widgets are still coming with Captivate 7, only they are bit hidden for some obscure reason???
Use the Widget workspace, that is still available. In the Widget panel you'll have normally the widgets. Because if you choose Insert Widget (this also disappeared from the vertical toolbox) you'll not see the widgets but the interactions, the path is not correct. If you do not see the widgets in the Widget panel, you'll have to browse (there is a small icon at the bottom) to Gallery\Widgets in the installation folder of Captivate.

Create BI Pub report using multiple Answers queries as sources

No answer to this on the BI Publisher forum. Posting here...
Is it possible to pull information from two or more separate Answers requests into the same BI Publisher report?
I'm using Word with the BI Publisher add-in. I can connect to, and retrieve data from, one of my stored Answers requests. So now I have a table of Answers-sourced results in my Word doc.
Now I'd like to get some different results, from another stored Answers query, and put those results into a second location in my Word doc.
How is this accomplished?

I figured it out. Although I can't DIRECTLY add more than one answers query to a Word doc strictly from within Word, if I establish the different Answers queries as different DataSets over in my BI Publisher report, then specify that the default DataSet is the Concatenated SQL Data Source, both queries appear in the "Insert" options in Word, and both can be used in the same Word doc layout template.
