Multiple AP541N dropping clients

I have 3 AP541Ns setup in a small environment.  The wireless clients use laptops to attach, via RDP, to a Microsoft Terminal Server.  They need the ability to walk, with laptop, from room to room, IE roaming wireless clients.  The issue is the clients drop and re-attach constantly and takes up to 5 minutes to re-attach to the WLAN / RDP session.  Is this a symptom of going from WAP to WAP and is their anything I can do about it?
Thanks,

Chris,
The AP541N doesn't support true wireless roaming; for wireless roaming you would need to move up to enterprise devices. Now there is an option that should speed up the re-authentication time.
Enable
Preauthentication
If in WPA Versions you selected only WPA2 or both WPA and
WPA2, you can enable pre-authentication for WPA2 clients.
Click Enable pre-authentication if you want WPA2 wireless
clients to send a pre-authentication packet. The preauthentication
information is relayed from the access point
the client is using to the target access point. Enabling this
feature can speed up authentication for roaming clients that
connect to multiple access points.
This option does not apply if you selected only WPA for WPA
Versions because WPA does not support this feature

  • As of late in iTunes wireless multiple devices drop out?

    Hello,
as of late in iTunes wireless multiple devices drop out about once a day? I have 2 airports and an Apple Tv connected which I have been using for several years with no problem.
I think this started with the latest iTunes update, but I'm not sure? Usually I have to quit iTunes and then up again, but sometimes I also restart the computer to get the devcies shown again. Are there any thoughts on that? Thanks!

what would happen if I deleted the folders?
Will the duplicates still show in iTunes?
What happens if I rename the folders something else?
Yes, the duplicates will still show in iTunes, but, as the directory has changed, iTunes will lose contact, and therefore show those files with an exclamation point.
Although, if you had "copy into library folder" checked, the duplicates will remain untouched, as they already are in the central location, where iTunes is told to store the music.
If this isn't the case, you can use this behaviour to get rid of the duplicates:
Once you renamed/deleted the folders with the duplicates, open iTunes. All the duplicates in question should now show with the said exclamation point next to them.
The next step would be to highlight the entire library manipulate an info, that is usually not needed. (I suggest using the BPM- field, enter "BPM: 96" f.e.)
Changes will not apply for lost track, therefore you can sort the library by BPM (or the info of your choice) and remove all tracks with an empty field in that collumn in one shot.
    Hope that helps
Post back, if you have any questions.

  • Dropped clients and Load threshold violation

Can someone tell me if a load threshold violation can lead to dropped clients.  Is this error message just a notice or does the controller drop clients after reaching the threshold value.
    Thanks
    Chris

Can you do a show wlan for me and post the results.
Do you have load balance enabled ?

  • Cisco aironet 1200 Series access point dropping clients

We are having an issue where our Cisco Aironet 1220 Series AP is constantly dropping clients. We have 3 APs mounted on a single tower, all out of each others range and freq. There are approximatly 30 clients on each AP. We are noticing an increase in dropped customers (up to 20 at a time). ANy suggestions? This only became an issue in the last few weeks, and nothing major has changed.

    Hi
Even I was facing almost the same kind of problem. But in my case it was wired clients to the workgroup bridge 350.
I had done lot of testings and reading at that time to resolve this problem.
However in your case I feel your problem can be resolved by keeping the option "Reliable multicast for Workgroup bridges" disabled in the APs under dot11radio interface settings. This is possibly because the radios cannot associate to more than 20 clients at a time if the option is in the enable mode.
You need to keep this option enabled in a root bridge when you have problems of dropping the wired clients to the workgroup bridge.
By keeping this option enabled, you are actually asking the Root bridges to consider the Workgroup bridges as Infrastructure devices and not as clients thereby making the roots to send all the multicasts to the WGBs. However in that case it losses the efficiency of associating more than 20 clients.
Let me know if this resolves your problem.

  • Multiple airport express clients dropping iTunes

Hello, I'm new to the board and appreciate the resource and any feedback you guys can provide.
My music is stored on the iMac and I'm trying to stream iTunes to two AX's and the music drops out often. They are both set up as clients. I have searched this forum extensively and think I have isolated the problem as one of the following:
Something to do with UDP protocal
    Linksys WRT51AB router settings
    512Mb RAM on iMac--too little?
    Here's my troubleshooting thus far:
Both airport expresses work by themselves in their current locations.
Locations are close to computer, 1st within 10 feet (1 wall), 2nd another 10-15 feet (2 walls)
Checked firewall settings and "Block UDP" box is unchecked
I tried to forward Port 6000 on my Linksys router based on some advice in another thread here to no avail
    AX Firmware 6.3
    iTunes 6.0.4
    OSX 10.4.6
    Thanks for the help
    G4 PB & Intel iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Thanks for the suggestion. I had not tried that option as I had read somewhere that there is only one Linksys router that supports this setup and it's not the one I have.
I will try the solution and report back. I assume an AX configured as a range extender can also function to stream iTunes?
Also, for clarification, I am using two airport expresses both of which to stream music. They access my network through my Linksys router hardwired to the iMac.
    Thanks.

    Hello!
Thanks for all you help. It worked for me setting the SSID to WPA2-AES.
I also got a nice answer from Cisco TAC:
I went through the data you kindly provided and can see that the printer has connected to wireless, the debugs you attached to the case shows that the AP is in RUN state:
    *DHCP Socket Task: Oct 07 15:16:05.090: 68:b5:99:45:44:8e 10.21.1.96 DHCP_REQD (7) Change state to RUN (20) last state DHCP_REQD (7)
But, after a short while, the printer started replying with invalid EAPOL messages, the debug you attached to the case showing the following g message:
    *Dot1x_NW_MsgTask_6: Oct 07 15:16:12.993: 68:b5:99:45:44:8e Ignoring invalid EAPOL version (1) in EAPOL-key message from mobile 68:b5:99:45:44:8e
Looking to the msglog on controller, we can see the following message:
*spamApTask1: Oct 07 19:02:37.430: #LOG-3-Q_IND: 1x_eapkey.c:618 TKIP MIC errors reported in EAPOL key msg from client 68:b5:99:45:44:8e

Looks like the printer is replying with invalid EAPOL message since it’s not compatible with TKIP encryption method, I can see on TTW-Printer SSID that WPA/TKIP is enabled on this SSID.
    The Action Plan:
I would suggest to change the encryption method to WPA2/AES instead of WPA/TKIP, then test again, if you still have the same issue, please provide the new ‘debug client ’ output.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments,

  • AddOn Exe running multiple instance in client machine

    Hello Experts,
I have created a addon which i have installed in the server .While connecting the addon from the client machine addon runs
well . But at the end of day when i see the task manager their it shows two to three instance of that addon exe running
.I have written the application event in my addon for its termination when the sap is closed or addon is stopped.
Even though system shows two to three instance of that addon exe running on that client machine.
Suggest how to solve this multiple instance problem of AddOn Exe.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Amit

    Hello Amit,
this comes because SAP B1 Dumps, and your addon is not terminated. You can check the
C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One\Log folder for SAP B1 logs. If you see more than 1 file per day, you can make sure, that the application has been restarted.
When B1 dumps,. the addons are not getting disconnected, so you can build a monitoring procedure into the addon, to look SAP B1 is alive or not.
In forum, last year I have sent at least 2 solutions for handling this issue, but it is very hard to  handle in terminal servers because there you running several SAP Business One.exe applications.
If you not using terminal server, it is not an problem. follow up this threads

  • Multiple sockets - many client one server

I have multiple clients (a handfull) that will be sending a lot of messages per second. I have one server that I want to handle all of those methods. From what I've seen, there are some good multi-threading examples out there. I have seen one or two things about using socketchannels. what is the best approach to this problem, and how does it work?

    10 or 10,000?
Is that the sustained rate or the burst rate?
What is the size of each message?
What processing must occur for each message?
Must every message succeed? Must it succeed the first time?

  • LAP drops client connections

Hello! we have WLC 5508 (6.0.188.0) and some converted APs   AIR-AP1141N-E-K9. Everything works fine except one moment:
1 of this converted APs is located beyond the office building, but it is still connected to our local network as if it was located within the office (there is a fiber channel between our cisco core switch and a switch, to which that 1 LAP is connected)
The trouble is that users can't have the normal wi-fi on that beyond LAP. I see few successful pings to the "associated" client then drops, again a little success, than long drops.

What could it be? Is it possible that some noises or whatever could cause it? The building with this problematic LAP is a kind of film studio...

oh, I badly explained what I need again(((
I don't need only 2.4 Ghz now. I cited just to remind why I was doing this:
"  I was making an experiment of changing Radio Policy on a WLAN for SSID, to which only Apple users are connecting. I had chosen "802.11a only", then "802.11a/g" only, but finally I left "All" as it was before.   "
And now I am faced this problem :
"  But now Apple devices choose only radio 802.11g or 802.11a to connect to, although they could choose 802.11n before my experiments! " Now all that devices have only 54 Mbps as a Current Tx RateSet. They need 144 Mbps, which they had before, while connecting with radio 802.11n
    Any ideas?

  • LWAPPs Dropping Clients with Only Moderate Load

Hope someone has an answer to this problem, as it's been plaguing me for some time.
In my district, I have 11 schools running many LWAPPs and WAPs, connected to a single WLC and managed by WCS.
Only the 4 LWAPPs in the administration building experience the following issue:
When about 8-10 WiFi devices are present on one AP in the bulding (which usually happens during a meeting), all APs show a "Load Threshold Violation Error" and start dropping some clients intermittently and refusing to connect some new clients. There doesn't seem to be a pattern as to what sort of clients drop, or which ones can connect or re-connect. My WLC is on the same subnet as these LWAPPs since it is in the same building.
If I reboot the APs, this sets things back to normal for a while, but eventually the APs will show the same errors and the same connection problems occur. I have tried adding an LWAPP to our Boardroom, which is generally where users are located when the WiFi drops. For a while, this solved the problem, but it has since returned even with the additional LWAPP.
Currently, I have all four LWAPPs in this building set to AP Mode H-REAP, as I do in my other schools. I understand this is normally bad practice; when your APs are on the same subnet as your WLC, generally those APs should be set to AP Mode Local. However, in my case, Local causes more drops and connection failures than H-REAP, so H-REAP is the closest thing I have to a "solution" to the problem.
I have checked the logs on my WLC and in WCS, and do not see any error messages besides the load threshold violations. I have tried increasing client count, and adjusting interference settings, but nothing seems to help.
All LWAPPs are AIR-LAP1131G-A-K9 on IOS12.4(18a)JA2. WLC is Model 4404 on 5.2.193.0 firmware.
Any ideas? I will be glad to post logs or provide other info as needed.

The error you are referencing about load threshold is only a message. Its a paramater that says "after X users are on an AP, send the warning message".  It in itself does not do anything to clients.
If you want to troubleshoot this, then you should find a client in question and reproduce this problem while on the WLC you do a "debug client "
Out of curiousity, do you have load-balancing enabled?  Thats the most likely cause for when you have clients disconnecting from wireless....     If Client Load-Balancing is enabled, I'm fairly sure in WLC 5.2 code it was a fix number, instead of a sliding scale....
Again, the client debug will help you see what is happening to your clients, if the WLC is at fault.
If you see "status 17" anywhere in the debug  then your clients are being load-balanced and you need to turn that off.....

  • Cisco Aironet 1140 Issues (Dropping clients, 5GHz issue, AP Switching)

    Greetings,
We've been having issues for a while with these Aironet 1140's. We have two of them in the office and the issue is similar to the first issue displayed in this post:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-26228
The only difference is that I can't do this since we don't use a controller.
We're using Mac clients on Lion/Mt. Lion. We have no issues connecting to the access points, but occassionally the user will drop off one of the AP's(Access Point 2). Recently I changed the setup from TKIP/WPA to AES-CCM/WPA to get the PHY address to 802.11N instead of 802.11G. I got the speeds working fine, but I suppose this caused an issue of people dropping off at different times. I noticed if I remove the SSID from the preferred list and reconnect it goes from WPA to WPA2. Not sure if this is relevant information, just trying to list what I can to resolve this issue. I haven't had any reported issues with the other Access Point(Access Point 1).
Another issue we have is getting the radio to work on 5GHz for Access Point 1. It seems when a user is connected to the 5GHz signal, it will not load any web pages. Can ping out just fine, and ping internally as well. I've checked to see if the client is getting an IP address, and it is. It also has DNS set to 8.8.8.8 and another DNS IP we use. The other Access Point seems to work just fine with 5GHz enabled. Both work with 2.4GHz with no issues at all.
Lastly, clients are not switching Access Points to the strongest signal. I've tried this test with 5+ machines running different OS's from Snow Leopard to Mt. Lion. The client will not switch over passively, the Laptop must be closed and reopened to re-establish the connection to grab the closest signal. This isn't a huge issue, but it's something I'd like to get fixed. This could have been an ongoing issue before I switched the AP's to AES-CCM, but I've only noticed it after the fact.
If there's any additional information needed that could help resolve these issues, let me know.
    Thanks!

The wireless clients/devices decides which WAPs to join.  It's not a "Cisco thing".  It's the standard.
That's what I figured, it's just an issue we have been having lately and trying to rule out the possibility it might be an Access Point issue.
Did you enable WPA and WPA2???  Apple does not like to "choose".  You have to either use WPA OR WPA2.
Actually, yes I should have included my steps of trying to resolve the issue. For some reason, the SSID would not appear in the listing of SSID's so I removed the preferred connection, which was WPA, and manually added it to be WPA2 Personal on the client. Still saw some issues with a few users, others seem to have rectified or they're not telling me.
I checked the event logs on the device and saw this:
Packet to client e0f8.4735.c16e reached max retries, removing the client
After some research, it was recommended to raise the packet retry value to 128. I haven't received any complaints from the 3 people that usually complain about dropped wifi yet, but it's still too soon to say.
The only thing I can think of is the signal strength.  Disable the 2.4 Ghz and see what signal strength you are getting with the 5.0 Ghz.
It should not be signal strength since I am about 10 feet away on my test machine which has the issue as well as any other clients in any distance long enough to grab the connection. I will try turning off 2.4 when there's nobody in the office tomorrow in the morning to see if that actually works. I would like to have it dual band though since we're not all at 5GHz here. With this issue, I was actually fearing that there just may be an issue with the 5GHz radio hardware. We also have an extra 1140 laying around I used for testing; the 5GHz radio worked with identical settings to the one not working.
Thanks for the reply! I will take a look at what you suggested a little further and keep this updated if increasing the packet retry value actually rectified the problem just in case someone else has the same issue.

  • Multiple connection FTP client

I'm in need of an FTP client that can open up multiple connections to the same file for faster downloads. CuteFTP does this, but it's taking up around 35% of my CPU while downloading for no apparent reason. I don't know the technical term for this feature I'm describing so I don't know if this is something that I can enable for any of the other great FTP clients out there (like Transmit).
Can this be done from the command line? I'd be happy with that.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
    Ian

Don't take my word on this, but I'm thinking two halves equals one whole or one half of twice as much!
As for TransmitX, (my favorite), it never used more than 2.5% CPU on an eMac/1.42 sending a 7.3MB file to my online storage... could've went faster of course, and I could've got off and walked... but I wasn't expected in 'till the Train got there anyway!
There are http download/upload APPs that use multiple instances for greater speed, (forget what I last used), but many sites "outlaw them, or just don't work at all if you use them.
Sooo, what kind/size files are you transfering, and what kind of Service?

  • Multiple interactions with client

Is it possible to have multiple interactions with the client?
I have a BPEL process that calls a web service and then replies to the user what is sent back. This is then used by the user to invoke another web service through the business process.
In other words: the client initiates the process, the process uses this to invoke a service. The reply is sent to the user. The user then sends another message to the process which uses this to invoke another service. The result of the service invocation is sent to the user by the process.
This seems really simple but I am having trouble achieving this and all examples seem to be one invocation by the client and then one/many replies. If anyone knows if/how this can be achieved it would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks,
    Clive

yes, its pretty much possible to call the same BPEL instance again and again. This is called Asynchronous call back, and is possible with WS-Addressing or you can use the BPEL Correlation set to achieve this functionality.
Here is a step by step tutorial on how to achieve this,
    http://technology.amis.nl/blog/2813/use-bpel-correlation-sets-for-repeated-synchronous-access-to-long-running-bpel-processes
Hope this will resolve your problem...
