Multiple apple devices in 1 household.

I have an iphone 4, my wife has my old ipod touch 3rd generation.  At home we have an imac with one account of itunes installed.  Should I "register" the ipod in my wife's name?  Should i create a new itune account ?  I would like to be able to iMessage to my wife and for both devices to link to the same iCloud (specifically the calendar).  At some point in the future we will also buy an iPad.
Thanks

Create an Apple ID for your wife and use that to sign into iMessage. Use a shared Apple ID for iTunes and App store purchases so they are avialble on all devices.

unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups

  • HT5538 I have multiple Apple devices and my family all share one apple ID.  I know it is easy to obtain additional IDs but all devices are registered with the same Apple ID.  My questions is how do I set up my devices so that we can Facetime between devic

I have multiple Apple devices using the same Apple ID for all devices.  I work in the Middle East and my wife is in Russia.  I would like to Facetime between my different devices.  Is this possible with all devices registered with the same Apple ID.  It is just easier for find my iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air and for purchasing Apps.  Is this possible and how do I set it up.

Create Apple IDs for everyone individually and use that in Settings > Facetime, Settings > Messages, Settings > Game Center but keep the Apple ID used for app and content purchases in Settings > iTunes and App Stores

  • How to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with one iTunes account

We recently received iPad 2's for Christmas and was looking for some advice on how to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with One iTunes Account (Apple Id).  I have created or attached other e-mail addresses to our apple id but do not know how to use them on the new devices.  Our home MacBook Pro uses our main apple id for FaceTime.  The iPads have been setup with the main apple id w/o being able to use FaceTime and iMessage.
    Please Help...
I appreciate the help and support.

    P and V-
If you are trying to connect to someone with a different Apple ID, I think all the devices should work, but one at a time.
The problem is when you try to connect between two with the same Apple ID.  Once the calling device tries to make the connection, it finds the second device to be "busy".  That is where each needs to use a different E-Mail address when setting it up.
On iOS devices, when you press the Home button to exit an App, the App may still be active in the background, even when the device is sleeping.  If FaceTime or iMessage is merely being active that way, it may be enough to "tie up" the E-Mail address.
From the Home screen, double click your Home button.  You will see a list of recent Apps along the bottom of the screen.  Press and hold on one of them until they start to wiggle.  You will then see a red minus sign on each.  Pressing the minus sign will remove an App from the list, and stop it from working in the background.  (Click the Home button to stop the wiggling, and again to hide the recent Apps.)

  • I have photos on my iPad (the first apple device in our household) and then added an iMac and a macbook air. How do I get all of my photos on all devices. Myoriginal iPad has images not on my 2 newer devices and my 2 new devices do not share the same phot

I have photos on my iPad (the first apple device in our household) and then added an iMac and a Macbook air to our network. We have an airport 2TB back up device.  How do I get all of my photos on all devices. My original iPad has images that my 2 newer devices do not have on iphoto.

My original iPad has images that my 2 newer devices do not have on iphoto.
How are the images stored on your original iPad? Are they in the camera roll, in events downloaded using the camera connection kit, or are they in albums synced to your ipad from a computer?
If the photos are in the camera roll or in events downloaded from a camera, you can transfer them to your iMac and MBA by directly connecting the iPad using USB. Then you can download the photos to iPhoto like from a camera.
Only, if your photos have been synced to the iPad from a computer, you will have to save them first to the camera roll; then you can download them by connecting the iPad via USB.
What IOS version has your iPad?
For new photos you might consider using Photo Stream to transfer your photos between the devices.

No. Apple only offers 5 GB of free iCloud storage for all your devices, no matter how many you have got. If you need more iCloud storage, purchase storage.

    Hello Cyko69
If you are seeing a Mailbox Locked alert, the following article will explain what is going on. Typically with certain type of emails, it is meant to be accessed one at a time. The article will give some suggestions on how to resolve the issue.

  • How can i identify multiple apple devices under a same appleID for Facetime usage ?

    hi
i have an apple ID and multiple apple devices
i want to be able to use facetime to communicate between my various devices
so, how can i identify my ipad from my ipod from my mac, so that i can do facetime between the three, using the same appleID ?
    thanks

I found this discussion because I need to create dozens of Apple IDs for the faculty and staff of the school for which I'm the IT Director.
    This is weak.
Apple, PLEASE upgrade the Apple ID system so it represents the current needs and paradigm.
What am I thinking, Apple (like Google) don't follow user discussion forums, except by accident when an employee sees something and is motivated enough to carry the water for users in need.

Why do we not receive 5 gb of free cloud storage space for the multiple Apple devices my wife and I have purchased?  Seems only fair.

logical. fair. I can understand the confusion in policy  as another fine cloud service - DropBox - has a different model for increases in free storage amounts for one account = evangelism. As many policies as there are services probably.

  • How to sync ical with multiple apple devices and android?

Does anybody have use an android phone in addition to apple devices, and have you figured out how to sync ical with all? (I know there are other calendars that can be used by all, but it means a lot to my husband to stay with ical.)

I tried Yahoo in the past but had trouble with duplicate entries. However, this was a while ago before Yahoo updated their site and this was with syncing to a Windows computer with Outlook in addition to a Mac so my results might not be typical. Yahoo's worth a shot, but my experience with Yahoo is why I use Google Calendar.
Beyond that, I don't know of any other "free" services. There are many other hosted calendar sites that could work, but you'd pay something like $5-$20 per month, which is comparable to MobileMe.

  • What is the best way to set up multiple Apple devices ?

Lime many of us here I have quite a few apple devices and I just wondered whet the best way to set them up with itunes / Apple
    my Apple gear:
Mac mini 2.53 with Mountain Lion
Mac Mini 1.6 duo Snow Leopard
    Iphone 5c (mine) running 8
    Iphone 5c (wifes) running 8
    iPad 2 (old)  64 GB  running 8
iPad Mini 2 retina  32 GB running 7
g3 iMac (running Tiger) Juke box (semi retired ;-) now)
At the moment all devices (apart from new Mac mini 2 and the old G3) are set up under my Apple ID ... (1 Apple ID for all devices) ... obviously this has problems : my wife downloads an App it will appear on my phone; we have had to disable some of the messaging systems as at one point my wife was getting my messages et ... is there a better way to do this?

    cosmiconion wrote:
one drawback of same Apple ID for store is that what she downloads will automatically appear on all devices
Do you mean the visibility of the purchase in the App Store (under purchases) or the installation of the app automatically on the other devices?
In the App Store on the device (under iOS 8 at least on the iPad, I couldn't get it to work on my iPhone 5 under iOS 8), you can hide purchases...just swipe it to the left in the Purchased list. You can then unhide the hidden purchase(s) if desired by using iTunes on the PC/Mac under your iTunes account.
Auto App updates (Automatic Downloads) can be controlled under: Settings/iTunes & App Store, scroll down to Automatic Downloads and disable those that you do not want.

  • New computer & syncing multiple apple devices without erasing

We've just got a new family PC and have about 7 Apple devices we manage with iTunes, I've read the support forum and do I really have to trash every device and copy data to/from it again so sync works with the new PC?
This seems like madness if this is the process, 300+GB of data off the devices then 300+GB of data back + all the other hassle thats bound to show up with old versions of apps etc.  Just to be able to plug them into a new PC & sync.....
    Who does this method help?
Surely a better way would be for iTunes to prompt you with a question about which library you want to keep or merge? ie the direction of sync.  The current way is going to be time consuming & messy to get to a point which should be very easy.
The iTunes development team really need to rethink this as you can just about suffer this process with one device, but generally when people have bought one Apple device they get more,
I'm not going to do the process that is recommended, instead I'll create a virtualised copy of the old PC and use that every time we want to manage one the devices.
I only wanted to put a family video onto one of the iPads.....

Copy the library from the old computer, just as you need to do with all your own documents and data.
See this migrate iTunes library post.

  • HT204053 I have multiple apple devices, 2x phones ipad etc, but all are through the same email and I only get the storage space for one device, what should I do?

I have multiple devices all under the same id and email but I don't get multiple icloud storage space and it's running out!
Can anyone help as I've just bought an iphone for my daughter and would like to link it as well.
Thanks in anticipation of your help.

One icloud account gets a 5 GB of storage, regardless of the number of devices connecting to it.  But you're in luck, you can buy more storage for the account if you are running low.
As for your daughter, be sure to get her own icloud account, otherwise she'll end up getting all your email, contacts, etc.  And if she deletes any of this data, it will be deleted on your devices as well.  Note:  you can all keep using the same ID for the itunes store for sharing purchased items.
