Multiple Apple ID/Device Issue - How To Best Resolve?

My Apple ID is from 2000 when we bought our first iMac.  We (my wife and I) never bothered setting up separate accounts, and it certainly helped when it came to iTunes - we both had access to all of our iTunes purchases and when I imported our extensive CD library all of that music ended up in a single iTunes database.
Years go by.  We have a kid.  Kid grows up.  Kid gets iPod.  We're still on a single account.  So far, it's just music, so everything is great...
Last fall, my wife got an iPad2.  It was easy to simply use the "family" Apple ID for this as well.
Today, my wife got a iPhone 4S.  She created her own Apple ID.  Now she'd like to switch the iPad2 to this new ID, but doesn't really want to lose the pictures, eBooks, Apps, etc.
Is there a way to accomplish this without losing any data?
Once I get this figured out, I think I'll create a new Apple ID for the kid, too.

I had the same exact thing happen with me. I registered my device under a different iTunes account, and plugged it into our main computer. Now, all of my pictures, apps, books, etc. are somewhat shared throughout the different accounts.
This might also be helpful, If you go to a device already registered under a different account, you can switch without loosing anything by opening iTunes, signing out, and into your desired account.
Hope this helped!

If you wish to use home sharing then you need to setup the Apple TV under your ID.

I purchased a moview through I tunes and have it stored on my computer. I want to show it on my HDTV using an Apple TV device. HOw do I do that?

I've been experiencing the same problem for the past month. I thought that it might be my older 3rd generation apple TV, so I purchased a new one yesterday. Hooked the new one up this morning and I'm experiencing the same problems. I've rebooted the apple tv a few times which doesnt really seem to help. I'm guessing it has something to do with my home network. I took the Apple TV to the beach with me last week and didn't get any error loading problems. I guess now I just need to figure out what I need to change on my network to hopefully remedy this problem. ugh, it's always something.

Sync your iPhone to iTunes, and see if that does the trick.  Also you could try a Soft Reset with no Risk to Data.  Holding down both the Sleep button and the Home button until the Apple logo appears and then waiting for the Reset to bring you iPhone back to the lock screen.    Are you trying to add the email at Settings>Messages>Send and Receive from (2 Addresses) your iPhone number and your email address?

I uninstalled Itunes then tried to reinstall it, now it keeps telling me that the "Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start" and its asking me to verify the system to activate but I have no idea what it wants me to do. I don't know how to verify the service or anything.

  • HT5517 In multiple Apple TV's installation how can one prevent one iOS device from taking over the connection of another iOS device?

I am working on a system design where I would like to install 5 Apple TV's so when clients walk in with their iPhones they can connect to the network and be able to stream their audio to facility zone speakers where they will be working. But I am looking to prevent others from taking over that connection. I have never installed multiple Apple TV's in one site but I assume one would name them differently (Apple TV 1 - 5) when setting them up. I am also assuming when I walk in with my iphone and use the airplay I would see all 5 Apple TV's listed. Once I choose Apple TV 1 for instance, I do not want others to walk in and see Apple TV 1 on the list any longer so they do not have the oportunity to select it inadvertantly. Is this doable?

You can't remove them from the list, but you can set a password for airplay to each Apple TV

  • WiFi Setup in Large House multiple Apple Hardware Devices -Help Please!

    Hello:
I have tried to solve my wifi issues over the past months, but I am stuck. I recognize that this is a little involved, so let me apologize in advance.
I do not expect someone to be willing to take the time regarding this, but if someone could at least read this and give me some general pointers, that would be great.
Highlights of current problems - we cannot consistently print documents from our printer, which is connected via an airport express (note that the airport express is wired to the internet with Cat 5e, we cannot consistently stream itunes music, we have too many separate wifi networks - we prefer one wifi network, if possible. Most recently, I have been trying to extend or join my own existing networks, and I do not understand the difference in terminology, and in any event, neither attempts worked as I kept getting error messages and the amber lights stayed on.
Goals - We would like to have seemless wifi throughout our old, larger sized house with ability to stream iTunes music from an apple computer or via Airtunes from an iPhone, and print from any computer or from any iPhone or iPod, and ability for guests to join wifi with a password and have such connection be good throughout our house. I prefer not to have to manually select different wifi networks as we move around the house with an iPhone or Macbook Pro. Also, I often get prompted for wifi passwords (depending on which of my airport expresses comes into range) and I would like to avoid putting the passwords in each time. Or one signal gets weak and my device does not know that it should switch to the wifi network with better reception. I would like to be able to walk from point A to point B and have my wifi connection work continuously behind the scenes. And I would like to be able to play music on receiver, and control same via our iPhone and iPods.
    Hardware -
Basement: Verizon Fios wireless Router, Ethernet Network switch with multiple Cat 5e ethernet cables going to different locations in the house.
1st Floor: Macbook Pro connected to internet via ethernet; 1 previous generation Airport Express connected to internet via ethernet, with a printer cable going from Airport Express to a printer and an audio capable going from Airport Express to a receiver. If possible, I would like that same Airport Express to provide wireless access. I also have a non-apple wifi device that is recessed in the ceiling, I think it is by On Q/Legran and this non-Apple wifi device is connected via ethernet.
2nd Floor: Older generation iMac (purchased in around 2005) that is not connected to ethernet, 1 Airport Express (new version) connected to ethernet; 1 additional Airport Express (new version) connected to ethernet; 2nd MacBook Pro which relies on Airport Express.
3rd Floor: Apple Time Capsule connected via ethernet cable, Apple TV sitting right next to Apple Time Capsule, with HDMI cable running from Apple TV to home theater receiver.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

Hello JoJo121. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
To achieve having "one" wireless network throughout the house, we just need to configure all of your base stations for a "roaming" network. With this type of network, a laptop could literally roam from room-to-room and still be on the "same" network.
You already have one of most important parts of this type of network and that is you have an Ethernet infrastructure where you want wireless to be provided.
The FiOS router should not need any configuration changes.
Setup the 802.11b/g AirPort Express Base Station (AX), 802.11n AirPort Express Base Stations (AXn), & Time Capsule (TC) as bridges:
o AirPort Utility > Select the base station > Manual Setup > Internet > Internet Connection > Connection Sharing: Off (Bridge Mode)
For each AX, AXn, & TC in the roaming network:
o Connect to the same subnet of the Ethernet network, i.e., they should all connect back to the Ethernet switch at the FiOS router.
o Provide a unique Base Station Name
o The Network Name should be identical
o If using security, use the same encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc.) and password.
o Make sure that the channel is set at least three channels apart from the next base station to prevent Wi-Fi interference.

Instead an error message came up; There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. • Multiple Apple TV devices - Label on Remote app?

I have several Apple TV devices on my home network & I use Apple Remote app on my iPhone. Is there any way of labelling the different Apple TV devices listed in Remote app since I am having to do guess work to find the one that works on the Apple TV device I am using.

On the ATV menu itself there is an option to name the ATV.
Does that not do it for you?

What is "Apple Mobile Device" and is it loaded/activated on the iphone 5?

I suspect you mean that you are getting the iTunes error message that the Apple Mobile Device Service is not started, in which case you need to follow the steps show in item #4 at the bottom of this article to restart it: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538.
