Multiple Apple ID's and BTMM

Struggling to get Back to My Mac working.  In the end, I want to be able to access my wife's iMac via BTMM when I am on the road.  It may very well be "user error", but I need some advice...
I have 3 Macs and 1 Time Capsule:
1) My MacBook Pro
2) Family iMac
3) My wife's iMac
There is 1 user account on Mac #1 (me) and it is logged into my own Apple ID. I have also added my wife's Apple ID under System Preferences/Apple ID.
There are 2 user accounts on Mac #2 - I have one (logged into my Apple ID) and my son (logged into his Apple ID).
Mac #3 has only 1 user account.  I have added my wife's Apple ID as well as mine under System Preferences/Apple ID.
On my Time Capsule, I have added my Apple ID & my wife's into the Back to my Mac section.
For testing purposes, I have gone into Finder/Preferences/Sidebar and checked only Back to My Mac under Shared. However, I have also tested by using my iPhone as a Personal Hotspot (not connected to my LAN; using cellular data) and have the same results.
From Mac #1, I can see Mac #3 and the Time Capsule under Shared.
From Mac #3, I can only see the Time Capsule under Shared.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what I should be able to do here, but I'm trying to get Mac #1 set up so that I can connect to Mac #3 via BTMM.  But even with Apple ID's set up on both Macs, I can not see either way via BTTM.  If I go back into Finder/Preferences/Sidebar and check Bonjour, as long as I am at home and on my LAN, then I can see everything.  But I need BTTM to work when I am away/not on the LAN.
What do I need to do on Mac #3 so that I can connect to it via BTTM from Mac #1?

After calling AT&T tech support one more time, and explaining to them that the glitch was on their network, they admitted that the problem was at their tower...
I continued to use the phone on EDGE mode for two more days until the problem was fixed.
I even got a call back from a tech support guy asking me if my phone was working properly....
I wish they would have admitted to the problem before I sat at the apple store for 2 hours.

  • Really fed up with multiple apple ID's and email addresses

I've been an apple product user for the best part of 5 years and I have two apple ID's, multiple iCloud alias's and a number of associated email addresses. Two questions:
Can all of my ID's be merged in to one account?
    If not:
Can I create a new apple ID and transfer all my existing purchases from both of the other Apple ID's?
The way I see it is I paid for the content licence so I should be able to manage it as I see fit. Having multiple ID's seriously screws with my setting in iOS.
    Thanks for the help!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't merge accounts or transfer purchases from one account to the other. If you only have one account in use for iTunes, you could with a little effort transfer all your iCloud data from one account to another, so everything became part of the ID you currently use for iTunes.

  • Multiple Apple ID's and Multiple Devices, I think I've messed up.

Bought & set up new iPad today.
I want to use my iTunes account ID ending [email protected] that i have for my iPhone and my MacBookPro but seem stuck with my [email protected] ID on my iPad.
How do I mate my iPad to my iTunes Store  @o2.co.uk ID account. All the prompts refer to the [email protected] ID.
I only want one iTunes account and buy stuff for all three devices using all three to make the purchases.
Do I have to do a Factory reset.
    Any help, greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

  • Multiple Apple ID's and syncing problem

I have two apple ID's (by mistake). Since rebuilding my harddrive and reloading my OS,  I try to sync my Iphone I get the message "this iphone is synced with another apple ID. Merge or Replace" -- but it's unclear WHICH account will be used to replace? And merging already duplicated all my contacts once. Help!?

    Hey rich!
I'm taking a risk here and assuming that when you say "iPad ID" and "iPhone ID" you are referring to the iCloud ID on the mentioned device, right?
    If so,
the extra storage was purchased with your dad's iCloud account and that's where it stays.
Dad's iCloud ID can stay on his iPad, along with his extra storage.
Go to Settings->iCloud and delete Dad's iCloud ID from Mom's phone.
Log in to iCloud on Mom's phone with Mom's iCloud ID.
(Does she already have this iCloud ID? If not, it may be taken by someone else and she would have to create a new one for her.)
You cannot move the extra storage to Mom's iCloud ID. MAYBE, just MAYBE iTunes can do it, but I seriously doubt it. Contact them for assistance. (apple.com/support/itunes and select Contact iTunes)
I don't fully understand the need to purchase extra storage for just one device. Now, if you had multiple iOS devices (like for your business), then I can see it. I back up a 32g iPad and a 16g phone using less than half of 1G of my iCloud storage.
    Good luck

  • Multiple Apple ID's and iCloud (purchased extra storage)

My mom and dad want different iCloud accounts (so the contacts etc are not merged) They have bought the extra 20GB of iCloud storage for my Mom's phone. Here's the setup and apple ID's...  My question is how to split these and keep the extra iCloud storage on my mom's phone.
    Dad's iPad ID: [email protected]
    Mom's iPhone ID: [email protected]
iCloud extra storage ID: [email protected]
I want to change Mom's iPhone to: [email protected]
and change the extra iCloud storage to: [email protected]
I've already tried to change the ID of the iCloud but it will not let me because the email address for [email protected] is already used.
I hope this makes sense to someone!

  • Multiple Apple Id's and apple tv

I have recently found that I have unwittingly got 3 (yes 3) different Apple id's. No problem in Itunes as all the music / movies etc are all in my library and can be played. However on Apple TV this is a real pain, because all my items are listed under all 3 id's and you cannot show the complete library.
I have registered all the id's on my apple TV, but you have to swap between them to try and find the track you want or the movie you want to watch, Nightmare !
Apple don't want to merge any of them, as they say this is for security, however they have verified that all the acccounts use the same bank account, I am the owner of all 3 etc etc. Seems to me they have no way of completing the merge and this must be the issue?
So no security risk, i am not going to divorce myself ? :-)
Will someone at Apple explain what can be done, rather than what cannot be done? I have purchased all my music through itunes or in the first instance sat and imported all my old Cd's. My reward for buying and being loyal is no can do !
    Heeeeeeeeeeeeelp!

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

  • HT1529 I have multiple apple ID's and want only one.  My accounts have breeze

My accounts have been compromised. Shady husband doing shady things causing password problems. Please help me to create only one ID to use my iPhone4S
    iPad Air and windows PC

apple will not merge your accounts.... you will need to pick one and use it and change password..if you can't pick one then just make a whole new account and just let the others float away into the apple space.. but  take out the credit card info so that shady husband can't use it...  you can google "manage my apple id" and it will let you log in and change stuff.

  • HT5625 multiple apple id's and icloud has one saved that i didn't set up... but it is my email i use daily, but my apple id pass wont email or work

I have an iphone 4 and have just installed the new ios. so my apple id for "icloud" is my email with gmail, but i can't remember my password for that apple id. I have requested it to be reset but it hasn't emailed me anything to reset it. It says to check one of my old email accounts (school email address), but when i check it I don't have any new emails from apple there either...? My itunes apple id on my phone (different apple id) does work and that is the one i'm using to post this request for help. I can't even delete the apple id that my phone says is my "icloud" apple id because that also requires that i know the password for id that i didn't even set up (gmail email address). i did link my gmail email address to my apple id a while back, but now it has come back to haunt me. anyone know anything about how to consolidate these id's and make just one? i need help! i can't use icloud at all until this is resolved... thanks for any help that you can provide!

    Simply update your old AppleID.

  • Multiple Apple ID's and app purchases

    Hi all,
I have an Apple ID that I have used to purchase apps for my Ipad and existing Ipod Touch over the last couple of years.  Our son received an Ipod Touch for Christmas and we set him up with his own Apple ID and an associated gift card balance he got as a gift.  There are a few apps that I purchased on my Ipad that he would like to have on his new Ipod.  Is there a way to get those apps on to his Ipod Touch or do we have to buy them again just for his Ipod?
Could I log into his new Ipod Touch with my Apple ID and install these old purchases?  If I did that, would I be able to log him back into his own Apple ID after that?
Going forward, is there anyway for me to rectify this so all of our devices can be tied to a master Apple ID for iTunes purchases across devices?

You can access the itunes store without an account at all.
You would need a method of payment in order to purchase from the itunes store.

Cannot be done. Just use one account in the future and remove all private information from the other.  Unfortunately any purchases will remain forever (unless Apple changes its mind) separated.

  • What is the best way for a family to set up apple ID's and icloud?

My partner and I have separate apple id's and own a mac book, ipad, 2 iphones and apple tv.  What's the best way to set it all up so we can access everything on each device?  Can we merge our ID's into one and transfer all our payments?  We just registered for icloud and used a new shared email address, but still have our separate apple ID's.  We have separate email addresses, calendars and notes that we would prefer to keep separate.  It's really just our itunes purchases, music and photos that we want to be able to share.  Thanks in advance!  Cheers, Nicky

They will be able to download everything that was bought with their Apple ID. If they all shared an ID then they switched to their own ID they won't be able to use any apps or music bought with another Apple ID. As I explained in my previous response. There is only one way to share apps and content across multiple Apple ID's and that is home share. So, NO there isn't a "Smooth" way to do it.

  • Will iTunes Match work with songs purchased from multiple Apple IDs?

My parents have an iTunes library with about 10,000 songs on it.  It's basically one big mesh of my family's purchases from over the years, using multiple Apple ID's and some of which I don't even recognize and/or remember.  It's become very problematic now that my mother wants me to get a lot of the music "out of the guts of the computer" so she can listen to them on her iPhone and iPad.
I'm assuming iTunes Match is the solution, but I just want to be sure that the "match" part pertains not only to purchases from outside sources, but also purchases from other Apple ID's as well.  I won't have to do the whole "authorize this computer" stuff, right?  Like I said, some of the songs were purchased using old ID's that we don't have access to anymore.  Also, if I sign up my mom for an iTunes Match account, and she wants to play songs that I purchased using my own Apple ID, that's not going to change *my* account or authorizations in any way, is it?

    Hi Rubberbucket,
The music information for iTunes Match is obtained from the user's iTunes music library and does not depend on the Apple ID under which the music was purchased from the iTunes Store. See this article -
