Multiple Apple IDs causing headache!

[I can't find a suitable category to post this in - iCloud on Mac seems closest as it's linked to the AppleID - if someone can find a better place to put this and is able to move it (or let me know and I'll re-post there) I would be grateful]
I have three separate Apple IDs.  I only wanted one but got very confused as the first one didn't seem to work right and I ended up creating two more in desperation.
I understand I can't delete old Apple IDs (why?!) but I just want to get one working properly.
The ideal solution (although I don't think this is possible) would be to delete all my Apple IDs, and set up my iPhone, MacBook Pro and iMac 20 inch to use a brand-new properly configured Apple ID. I would also want the Apple IDs to work on these Apple discussions pages.
At present, I have to use my second Apple ID to use the Apple discussion pages as the primary one fails to let me log on properly because it asks me to choose a screen name and then fails saying I already have another Apple ID sharing the same e-mail address.
I'm occasionally having problems with iTunes where it won't sync the iPhone properly claiming that the computer is not authorised when it actually is! I seem to have fixed this temporarily by de-authorising and re-authorising a number of times. This may or may not be something to do with the Apple ID problem–I simply don't know.
Does anybody know how I can get close to my ideal solution as possible? If I can't remove old Apple IDs, I just need to effectively remove as much information from the ones I don't want and properly configured one I do want. I also need to ensure that the numerous apps downloaded to the iPhone from the App Store will still sync to iTunes properly.
Sorry to be so vague; it's only because I'm getting so confused about this but I find it difficult to explain the problem!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated; thank you guys.

Each Apple ID must have a different associated email address - the easiest workaround is to get a free one from Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail.
You cannot transfer purchases between iTunes accounts so you don't want to start changing the login there: but the ID for iTunes doesn't have to be the same as the ID for iCloud if you are going to use that.
As you don't have any points you have nothing to choose by changing your ID for these forums: change the associated email address to something else if that's the cause of the problem.
The iTunes authorisation problem doesn't sound as if it's related to the multiple IDs - it woudn't know anything ahout the others - the best place to ask would be in the iTunes forum.

  • Multiple Apple IDs causing activation issue

    Hello,
I just got a new iPad for christmas and I'm setting it up now.  Turns out I have two apple IDs: the one I actually used (which I dumbly keyed to a spam email address years ago) and one associated with my real email address.  The one associated with my real email address has no content associated; that's not the problem.  But I'm trying to set up iMessage to speak to the email address I actually use and when I do i get an error message that reads as follows:
    iMessage Activation
Unable to verify email because it is already in use.
It won't let me go any further from there.  I successfully set up email, but this seems to work differently.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    BearPuncher

  • Our family has multiple apple ids and we are setting up a new apple tv. Does it matter which apple id we use if we have home sharing enabled?

I have an apple id from my mobile me account; I also have the apple id from my itunes account (with which I purchase content for my powerbook); and my husband has an apple id for itunes which he purchases content for his itunes library on his PC.
Does it matter which apple id we use to set up our new apple tv?
what issues are caused by my multiple apple ids?

You cannot merge apple ids, but you can sign out of the apple id and sign in under the other one either on your phone or your mac. On your phone, go to settings, itunes and appstore, tap your apple id, tap sign out, then go back to home screen, then back into itunes an appstore and sign in with the apple id you want to use.

    you're welcome.
actually, unless you take an extra step, the first opened swf will close.  if you want the 2nd to close, the initial receiving lc will send a message to sender that causes the sender to close.

  • Can I use multiple apple ids with iTunes Match?

My family has multiple apple ids although we share many devices.  If we subscribe to iTunes Match, will it pull all the content from all the devices or just one apple id?

iTunes Match is associated with one, and only one, iTunes Store account. To use iTM on multiple devices all those devices must be signed into the mobile iTunes Store with the same AppleID.

  • TS1741 How do I have multiple apple IDs on one Apple TV 5.3

I have looked and looked but I can't find a way to put both mine and my boyfriends apple IDs onto this Apple TV that I just bought him.  It's the 5.3 version, I went under general, settings, and then iTunes Store, and there isn't a accounts option, it's just a sign in option so how can we both use our phones as remotes?

Well, you could save multiple Apple ID on your Apple TV, but you can't use them at the same time!

  • Can i setup multiple Apple IDs on one computer

    Hi
My partner and I recently sold our laptops and bought an iMac and want to keep our itunes, music, playlists separate.  Is it possible to setup multiple Apple IDs on one computer?
    Thanks

Each person in your home can have their own Apple ID provided it is tied the their own separate email address.
iTunes permits up to five authorized computers connected to a single Apple ID: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
For this all to work well, however, each user in your household should have a separate user account on the computer they commonly use.

  • HT5312 How Do I Stop email Harassment from same person creating multiple apple Ids?

    Hi,
I am being harassed by someone who is creating multiple apple ids and deleting them.  The person is constantly trying to get me to click on links.  When I tried to reply to one ID the person created, an error came up stating "this user does not exist" It then provided me with a code for that user.  I believe this person has hacked into my account on multiple occassion because a lot of time right after I change my password, it stopped working again a few days later.
I feel I have no privacy.  This person sends all kinds of emails using the names of major brands as the front.  All the emails look cheap and it seems as if it wants you to select the "unsubscribe" button which then phishes my info someone.  Can someone tell me who I can report these emails at apple to investigate?  The would have to know who created the email links, which are used once then deleted, but the person who is doing this is the same I'm certain.

    Hello ascending404,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with the emails you have been receiving.  I would be concerned about this too.  I found a resource that provides some good information about identifying and reporting emails like the ones you are recieving.
I recommend reviewing the full article, but this specific section provides steps for reporting these emails:
What to do with suspicious iCloud emails
If you receive a suspicious email, select the message text so that it is highlighted. Choose Forward as Attachment from the Message menu (OS X Mail) or the Actions menu (Outlook). Send the email to [email protected] This provides Apple's legal department and law enforcement with useful information to help prevent future phishing emails.
Note: For suspicious emails related to iTunes, see this article.

  • Accessing purchases made with 1 Apple ID from multiple Apple IDs

I have been sharing 1 Apple ID to make all purchases and homeshare for the household.  As I now begin to add new IOS devices (IPAD, Iphones, etc.) and the kids want their own IDs for purchases and icloud syncs, is it possible to access music and app purchases made under the original id with the new id(s) so tey dont lose any of their existing stuff?  Put another way, can multiple ids access purchases made under one master id?
    Thanks

I happened to stop at the Apple store yesterday for a separate issue and had a discussion about iCloud. Seems like this is how iCloud works (also, there's another thread on this forum that explains it well).
Each member of the family can have their own iCloud ID, which will be used for Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Apps, Bookmarks, Media, Photos, etc. and having this content synced automatically with a Mac (computer). The iCloud IDs work in tandem with the associated Apple ID — so while you cannot have multiple Apple IDs, you can certainly have multiple iCloud IDs tagged with a certain Apple ID.
While all this makes sense from the iOS device standpoint, I'm unclear on how things will sync with a Mac computer, especially if the family uses a single iMac with multiple login IDs for various members. For instance, I currently have an iMac and iTunes content resides in my Public folder, which my wife can still access when she logs in with her login ID. I'm guessing that I'll be able to set up her iCloud ID using her login, set up my iCloud ID using my login, while both our iMac logins will retain the same Apple ID. This would take care of syncing Photos, Contacts, Calendars, etc.
Another (not sure if unique) problem I face is our Address Book — right now, we have one GIANT address book with different groups set up. Certain groups sync to her iPhone, while others to mine. Some contacts are common between both of us. I'm hoping that if she/I updates a common contact, then the change will be reflected in both our groups of contacts. I hope this makes sense — for instance, I update a contact named Joe, and he's on my group of contacts in my iPhone. Hope iCloud updates the master contact card for Joe on the iMac, which would then automatically trigger the update on my wife's group of contacts—that Joe also belongs to— leading to an update on her iOS device as well.
    Apologies for the lengthy response..

  • I have multiple Apple IDs, can I delete one and/or merge my accounts?

I unintentionally have multiple Apple IDs. I just switched to an iPhone and the store employee created what is now my 3rd apple Id. Is there a way I can I delete the extra accounts so that I can have my email addresses all in one place? Or is there a way to merge my accounts?

    1. No. Only Apple itself can delete Apple IDs; if desired, click here and contact them.
    2. No.

  • I have multiple apple ids. I want only one. How can I do this?

I live in two countries and can't download anything as it seems I am always in the wrong country.... This is complicated by my having multiple apple ids. When trying to reduce this to one, I lost all my previously bought apps. Never mind. However it seems that I have not yet achieved this..... And now to boot I am unable to buy anymore apps as I appear to always be on the wrong country. How can this be?
As I have spent MANY hours on this, I am happy to start again, and if I continue to fail, I think I will leave apple for good.
Any patient soul willing to help?

    Hello,
What two countries are you living in? Are certain apps you have downloaded in one country not available in the other? The only solution I can see is to start new with a new apple ID or you can use one of e two you currently have. What do you mean "And now to boot I am unable to buy anymore apps as I appear to always be on the wrong country." This could be a problem with the firmware in which a restore may be necessary. Let me know if you have any questions and good luck. Don't forget to click this helped me or solved my question if this helped you. Thanks

  • HT204053 Can you have multiple apple ids that access one itune account??

I need to know if I can have multiple Apple Ids attached to one itunes account.  Trying to set facetime up on these separate devices and it keeps failing.  Any help would be appreciated.  I tried to add additional emails, but I all I get is verifying and it never verifies it.

yes you can still sync all the devices on itunes using one master itunes/appleID account.
    Music:
If you want to select specific playlists for your kids, DON'T enable iTunes Match on their devices, otherwise they will get ALL the playlists on their devices (learned that the hard way)
If you have wi-fi synced enabled that should still work.
    Apps:
I manually select which apps they get on their devices using itunes. It only changes when they re-sync.
Don't enable AUTO downloads on their devices for Apps or Music purchases.
Since I also have young kids using these devices:
I have restrictions setup on their devices. I don't allow them to install/delete apps, nor do I allow them to make any account changes on their devices. This way their devices stay in order and get backed up to icloud. I can easily restore their devices if I needed too.
Once in a while I will disable the restrictions so I can update all their apps.
    Hope this helps!
