Multiple Apple IDs, need to delete one!

Somehow I mistakenly created two Apple IDs. The first one is the one I currently use. The only problem is that I don't have access to the email address listed. The second, I do have access too and want to use this email for the first one. It won't let me change it because it already shows an account, the second one, listed. I already have my devices synced to the first account as well as many purchases. I want to delete the second one but use the email for the first one to retain all my purchases and receive any correspondence from Apple. Is there somebody that could direct me to an answer? Or better yet somebody that could arrange this so I can once and for all get this problem taken care of?

We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple - I've asked the hosts to remove your email addresses from your post (it's not a good idea to post personal info on any public forum).
You cant delete an account, all you can do is remove any personal info from it (any downloads that you made with the account will remain tied to it). If you want to use the email address on the first account then you should be able to change it on the second account by logging into it e.g. via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone or via http://appleid.apple.com (if you don't have another email account to put on it then you could create one via http://gmail.com or http://hotmail.com). You can then try putting on the first iTunes account.

  • I have multiple Apple IDs, can I delete one and/or merge my accounts?

I unintentionally have multiple Apple IDs. I just switched to an iPhone and the store employee created what is now my 3rd apple Id. Is there a way I can I delete the extra accounts so that I can have my email addresses all in one place? Or is there a way to merge my accounts?

    1. No. Only Apple itself can delete Apple IDs; if desired, click here and contact them.
    2. No.

  • I created 2 apple IDs, can i delete one.

I created 2 apple ID's. One with an email I dont' really use and have the mail forwarded to a newer account and the other was created using my me.com email that I don't use as my email either. I'd like to keep the first apple ID, its the one that is used most. But then I can't tie my me.com email to my icloud because it thinks that it is a separate person ans asks me to choose a different me.com amil user name. What can I do? Can I delete one or both and start over. But I have purchases on the first account I dont want to lose.

I think I can answer this, based on my own frustrating experiences with Apple IDs.
... I can't tie my me.com email to my icloud because it thinks that it is a separate person
    That is correct.
Can I delete one or both and start over.
No, not to my knowledge. Once created, an Apple ID exists forever.
You described the problem correctly - you created a @me.com Apple ID that you use for iCloud, and it would be simple to use it for everything. I think that is what you ought to do.
Delete the email address associated with the first Apple ID, since that ID doesn't correspond to an email address you use any longer anyway. Then, add it to the @me.com account. I have attempted to have identical email addresses exist for two different Apple IDs and it didn't let me, though I have heard of people who did this successfully. I cannot explain the discrepancy.
Once you delete the email address from the first Apple ID, it may take a few moments for their system to recognize it is no longer associated with anything. After that you should be able to add it to the @me.com account.
But I have purchases on the first account I dont want to lose.
That's a problem. The purchases will remain with the first Apple ID. It's up to you to determine if they're worth purchasing again, since that is what will be required if you intend to associate those purchases with the @me.com ID.
If anyone has any better ideas please let me know.

  • Two Apple IDs... deleting one and content lost?

I have a several year old Apple ID that I must have created a while back, but didn't use much as I only had an iPhone... but it has my current gmail email address
When I got my new iPhone, ipad and Mac, I couldn't rember what my Apple ID was (nor did I realize how difficult it would be resolve this issue in the future) amd created a second ID with an old comcast email account.  We are now getting rid of comcast and want to change the Primary email address for Apple ID to my current email / gamil account.... but I get an "email already in use" error message
Understand that I can not combine the content, purchased into a single ID but I am OK loosing the content, the price to pay to work around a difficult software.
How do I delete the apple ID with a gmail account and then after I delete that I can change the email addres on the comcast account back to my primary gmail account?  Is there a way to see the amount of content associated with my two apple IDs?
    Thanks
    Rob

You can't delete an account, but you can try logging into the old account via this page and change it's primary email address to be something else : http://appleid.apple.com - you can then try updating your new account to have that new email address on it.
You can see the purchase history of an account via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes - if you log into your account via that then on your account's page there should be a Purchase History section with a 'see all' clickable link next to it.

  • HT5622 I want to get rid of multiple Apple IDs and just use one. How do I do this?

I have numerous Apple IDs how do I get rid of them and just keep one?
    peterrstevens

You can't get rid of them. Just stop using them.
Sign out of all the ones you want to stop using on all your devices and computers, then sign in with the one ID you do want to use.
Note that if you have iTunes or App Store purchases tied to any of these accounts, those purchases will forever be tied to that ID and you will have to sign in using that ID to update apps purchased under it. You cannot transfer purchases from one ID to another.

  • Multiple admin accounts, need to delete one of them ... what happens?

Ok, short story shorter - broke up with my GF and she has an account on my laptop.
She has saved all her stuff, so I'm not worried about loosing personal files/documents.
My question is though, what else may be lost that I should be careful of.
    • Will programs be lost?
I installed Adobe Suite through her account, will that be removed as well? That's an application though, that I set for 'all users'.
    • Will there be any change to system, or cause errors if that was the main Admin account?
By deleting an Admin that was in use 50% of the time, are there any system problems that may happen after I delete?
From what I remember, the system when I created another Admin account it just treated it as if someone just set up their MBP for the first time - ie. they seem to be completely independant.
Basically, I just want to make sure my experience (in my account) does not change once I've pressed the delete button.
    Much thanks in advance.

    Thanks andyBall_uk,
I can confirm that there are no files/data/passwords that I'm concerned about loosing on the account I want to delete.
*BUT, on the account I want to delete - I installed Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop.
These programs are usable on my account as well, I see them in my Application folder even though I only installed it once.
Are you saying it will delete Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop because it was installed on that Admin account?
Thanks very much for the help!

  • Can I sign in with multiple apple IDs in a single apple device without deleting my previous one?

can I sign in with multiple apple IDs in a single apple device without deleting my previous one?

    Hi swagyoloswag,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
There are several different services that require signing into an Apple ID to use on your iOS device. You can sign into different Apple IDs for different services on your iPhone. For example, Apple ID #1 for iCloud and Apple ID #2 for iTunes & App Store. You cannot sign into the same service with two different Apple IDs at the same time. The attached article has a list of services that are accessible with your Apple ID.

  • HT204053 Can you have multiple apple ids that access one itune account??

I need to know if I can have multiple Apple Ids attached to one itunes account.  Trying to set facetime up on these separate devices and it keeps failing.  Any help would be appreciated.  I tried to add additional emails, but I all I get is verifying and it never verifies it.

yes you can still sync all the devices on itunes using one master itunes/appleID account.
    Music:
If you want to select specific playlists for your kids, DON'T enable iTunes Match on their devices, otherwise they will get ALL the playlists on their devices (learned that the hard way)
If you have wi-fi synced enabled that should still work.
    Apps:
I manually select which apps they get on their devices using itunes. It only changes when they re-sync.
Don't enable AUTO downloads on their devices for Apps or Music purchases.
Since I also have young kids using these devices:
I have restrictions setup on their devices. I don't allow them to install/delete apps, nor do I allow them to make any account changes on their devices. This way their devices stay in order and get backed up to icloud. I can easily restore their devices if I needed too.
Once in a while I will disable the restrictions so I can update all their apps.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can i setup multiple Apple IDs on one computer

    Hi
My partner and I recently sold our laptops and bought an iMac and want to keep our itunes, music, playlists separate.  Is it possible to setup multiple Apple IDs on one computer?
    Thanks
    Denise

Each person in your home can have their own Apple ID provided it is tied the their own separate email address.
iTunes permits up to five authorized computers connected to a single Apple ID: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
For this all to work well, however, each user in your household should have a separate user account on the computer they commonly use.

  • One library; multiple Apple IDs (used to purchase)

I am sure this has been answered in the forums, but I have looked and looked and can't seem to find a definitive answer, so I thought I would ask.
To simplify (as it's a little more complex than this, but for this question, it doesn't matter), we have one iTunes library which is shared between me, my wife and my two sons (four Apple IDs total), all on one account on a machine. We each purchase things on our iOS devices and sync them to the one library. We are all authorized to use everything across our devices from the library.
My question revolves around adding iTunes Match. I am interested in adding this to my Apple ID so I can have access to my music wherever I am. The others don't really need this.
If I were to subscribe, would it affect their abilities to sync with and use the music and media already in the library? What other pitfalls may I find?
    Thanks in advance!

  • I have multiple apple ids. I want only one. How can I do this?

I live in two countries and can't download anything as it seems I am always in the wrong country.... This is complicated by my having multiple apple ids. When trying to reduce this to one, I lost all my previously bought apps. Never mind. However it seems that I have not yet achieved this..... And now to boot I am unable to buy anymore apps as I appear to always be on the wrong country. How can this be?
As I have spent MANY hours on this, I am happy to start again, and if I continue to fail, I think I will leave apple for good.
Any patient soul willing to help?

    Hello,
What two countries are you living in? Are certain apps you have downloaded in one country not available in the other? The only solution I can see is to start new with a new apple ID or you can use one of e two you currently have. What do you mean "And now to boot I am unable to buy anymore apps as I appear to always be on the wrong country." This could be a problem with the firmware in which a restore may be necessary. Let me know if you have any questions and good luck. Don't forget to click this helped me or solved my question if this helped you. Thanks
