Multiple Apple TVs - one iTunes Host ?

Is that possible at all ? I would choose Apple TVs to equip a building if it is possible to hook them up to one iTunes host.
I've built similar systems for audio, with Airport Expresses.
A second question I couldn't find an answer for:
Is there password protection for streaming access from a mobile device ?
I don't want guest A to be able to stream his stuff to room B....

yes, providing your network has enough bandwidth to handle all the traffic.
the original appletv had a limit of 5 devices to 1 itunes library, not sure if the new one has the same limit as it is using a different method to connect to itunes (HomeSharing).

that is AirPlay you are talking about, and that isn't available yet (that only comes with iOS4.2 which isn't out yet).
so until that is released, you won't find an answer to that. however i doubt there will be password protection for that.

  • Multiple Apple TVs, one iTunes source...

Before I jump in and buy a couple of these for my house, I wanted to make sure that I can set up two rooms with Apple TVs and have one computer elsewhere feeding both. From the website, it is not clear if there is a one-to-one relationship between an iTunes server and Apple TV client, or if more than one client can hook up and the system will work.
    Can someone inform me?

well is there any way for me to change that helpful to solved? I thought I could do both heh.

  • Two Apple Tvs - one iTunes account

I bought two Apple TVs - and want to have them sync to one iTunes account. After I bought the second Apple TV and synced it to my iTunes account, my iTunes account doesn't recognize the first Apple TV. I can ping it - so it's on the network. I've gone to Computers and have tried to reconnect to a shared iTunes account / even connect back to the iTunes account. When I'm given a code, there's no place for me to put the code into iTunes. The device doesn't show under Devices (just my most recent Apple TV)
Help - I need to sync to both - it's for my 3 1/2 year old son

Thanks for the response - I'm on Mac OS 10.4.11 I did rename my Apple TVs - so the names are different.
Also, sometimes my second Apple TV isn't showing on my iTunes either. This is very frustrating!
I'm also on a dual 2.3 GHZ PowerPC G5 (not an intel version). iTunes software version 7.6.2 (9)

  • Multiple Apple TVs and iTunes Match problem

I have three Apple TVs and have iTunes Match - my full library of music only shows on one Apple TV - on the other two Apple TVs it displays only recently purchased songs from iTunes - any ideas

Maybe I should be more specific...
We have three atv's. The kids want to play their own iTunes Match playlists on one of the atvs with their apple id and we would like our own iTunes Match playlists on the other atvs. But when we change the apple id on one atv, it changes the id on the other two so that they are all synced. Is there a way to have mutliple atvs with different iTunes Match apple ids active at the same time on the same network?
I would prefer not to use home sharing to avoid having two iTunes apps open.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Multiple Apple IDs, one iTunes library

I'm backing up 3 iPhones to the iTunes on my laptop.
iPhone 1: My iPhone 5, syncs and backup to iTunes via USB cable.
iPhone 2: My dad's iPhone 4S, syncs and backup to iTunes automatically when charging over WiFi.
iPhone 3: My mom's iPhone 4S, syncs and backup to iTunes automatically when charging over WiFi.
We each have our own Apple ID and do not intend to share apps and music with each other.
The problem with this setup is, for some reasons, the apps that my parents installed on their iPhones are now asking for my Apple ID when updating.
How should I prevent this from happening? Am I missing something?
My goal is simple, I want apps installed on my parents' phones to remain theirs, and automatically backs up their iPhones to the iTunes on my laptop whenever they are plugged in and charging.

Since the three of you are using separate iTunes accounts, then you each need to run your own itunes, which should be logged into the itunes store using each individual account.  For that, on a laptop, you each need to have your own computer accounts.

The two above can be different Apple IDs, mine are.

  • Multiple Apple TVs on the same network

I teach at a school and have used an Apple TV in conjunction with my iPad for presentations. I find it invaluable. Other teachers at my school would like to do the same, but I'm told by our tech support that multiple Apple TVs on the same network cause problems. When I ask them what problems, they aren't sure. They just tell me that other school have experienced problems. Other than a wifi bandwidth problem, I can't imagine what kind of problem it would be. A collegue of mine wants to jump onboard but desn't want to make waves. Does anyone know of any problems?

I have two Apple TV's, one in the living room and one in the bedroom... however, the living room is the only one that my iphone Remote APP is connecting with... I've named/tagged the two ATV's hoping that the Remote APP would provide me the option on which one to control, but it doesn't....
I've confirmed that home sharing is "on" with in all devices "settings"...
    Any suggestions?

  • Multiple Apple TVs - affect on school broadband

Hello, I am new to this forum. The school I support now has several Ipads and Apple TVs and the number is growing. Does any one know what impact this may have on broadband. Does using multiple Apple Tvs affect speed etc? Any information re any technical issues of using Apple TV in school would be much appreciated.

Yes, internal use (iPad to Apple TV) will not affect brodband connectivity.
The signal from iPad needs to go to WiFi router (or access point) and then back to Apple TV. So it is a bit over kill in busy environments. To easy the WiFi traffic it is advisable to wire Apple TV via ethernet port - this hat to be on the same LAN (VLAN) as the WiFi network.
Let me know if you have more questions.

  • Multiple Apple TVs cause Kernel Panic

Hey everyone... need a little help with something.
    I have the following setup.
MacBook Pro 2.4GHz dual core connected via ethernet to AEBS.
2TB external drive connected via USB to AEBS.
iTunes library media folder is located on external drive, but library files are located on laptop.
I have two second generation Apple TVs (one upstairs, one downstairs).
When using both Apple TVs to watch movies from the iTunes library my laptop will kernel panic after about 10 minutes.  It happens everytime without fail. However, if using one to watch a movie and another to watch say netflix, all is fine.  Same with renting movies or watching MLB.com or streaming music or listening to the radio--all works flawlessly until I try to access my movie collection via Home Sharing from both Apple TVs.  Tried watching the same movie or different movies--either way I crash.
Running latest software update with latest version of iTunes and Snow Leopord.  Disk Utility found no problems and permissions are up to date/repaired.
Any ideas?  Is this kind of demand on the HDD frowned upon?  Anyone else try this?

Thanks for your help both of you--we might be getting somewhere.
I understand that the problem wouldn't be just like running a USB cord directly to the computer--but can the connection that IS there really not handle ~20MB/s like I mentioned?  If not--thats pretty pathetic.  But like you guys mentioned; its possible that it isn't the demand which would cause a panic--that would more cause stuttering or buffering issues...
If drive is connected directly to the laptop, via firewire or usb--no problems.  Its just when its connected to the AEBS.  Like mentioned--there may be a bottleneck of some sort.  Apart from sending the crash reports to Apple [which they have like 10 of them by now :-)] is there any way I can look through the log to see what caused the panic?  I wouldn't even know what to look for much less how to interpret it but if there is a set of words or phrases I can seek out which would be clues?

  • Multiple iPhones and one iTunes Library

I have a question about multiple iPhones and one iTunes Library.
    Currently I have 3 PC's, 2 iPods and 2 iPhones.
My PC had the iTunes library on it and everyone was just listening to mine via the iTunes sharing.
Well I bought a Buffalo LinkStation and told itunes to move my library to M:\My Music\..... and then did a Consolidate Library which in turn moved all the music from my C: drive to the M: drive.
My wife's computer has it's own Library with no music (only app store apps, and ringtones).
Now my question is what happens if I tell my wifes computer that M:\My Music\....... is her new location of the library and restart itunes. I am pretty sure this will work fine. But what happens if she syncs her iPhone now? Will all my apps now be on her phone and she will lose hers? She does have her own itunes store account with her own apps. Is there a way to have it so only her apps are on her phone and my apps are on my phone? Can she choose different playlists to be synced than what I have?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Brad

  • Multiple Apple TVs with one iTunes Library

I have searched this subject and found one thread that touches on the topic. It says that I should be able to "connect" five Apple TVs to my single iTunes library. I have on original Apple TV that connects to my iTunes library just fine. I just purchased a second ATV for my bedroom. It will go thru the setup process easily and will connect to the iTunes music store. When I browse the "My Movies" menu item it will show me all the movies that I converted with Handbrake from my DVD collection but none of the purchased content from the iTunes Store. When I browse the "My TV Shows" menu item I get a message that my iTunes library contains no content. (my TV shows library contains only content purchased from the iTunes store). This scenario only occurs if I connect to the iTunes library as a primary connection that allows syncing. If I add the iTunes library as a "shared library" I am able to see and stream ALL of the content from my iTunes library.
Will an iTunes library only connect and sync with ONE ATV and do all secondary ATVs need to "share"?
As a side note.....when I noticed this problem I thought there was a hardware problem with the ATV so I took it back to the apple store. When we connected it to their media library it gave the same message that "there was no content in the iTunes library". It would however successfully share as a streaming only connection. I was given a new ATV but the same problem as described above continues.

It has been properly set up. I even purchased a TV show and a movie with it from the iTunes store that would play while still in the download phase but once the video was downloaded and synced back to my iTunes library it was no longer visible from the ATV.
