Multiple application access threat
Hi,
I would like to put some crypto-stuff in JavaCard, but have a question:
Is it possible, to access single applet from multiple application at the same time?
If so, is it necessary to validate card from each application? I don't want to open card for all application, but only to the one that passed PIN. And protect signing features from being used by some concurrently running applications (probable troyans).
How can a accomplish it? Maybe by encrypting data channel?

it's possible but in order to exchange sensitive data
between multiple applcations, they must secure
themselves as well. I DON'T want multiple applications to have access to the card at the same time
scenario:
1. secure app enters valid PIN and opens the card
2 another (troyan) app sends some data to be signed.
Can I secure the access to an opened card (with valid pin etered), and be sure, that other applications cannot acces the card (cannot use it for signing without validating)?
That's wat I ment in my previous question. And I don't know if I understand your answer - is it possible to have multiple access to the card, or is it possible to secure the access from a single application?

I'm assuming the service starts as the local system account. Some driver
inherits credentials from the service running as the local system
account. These credentials are inadequate for the interactive user. But
when the interactive user launches the driver, the credentials are
adequate for the local system account.
My guess is that if you change the configuration of the service to start
w/ specific user credentials, then the problem disappears. Goto Control
Panel | Services | {service name} | Startup and change the user from
local system account to the interactive user. Don't check interact w/
desktop, rather change to a specific user and specify the user that will
log on to the system.

Never tried it but I doubt you will be able to acces the DAQ simultaneously, To verify it try accesing the DAQ in LabVIEW and in MAX at the same time.

Can multiple PCs access one remote panel at the same time?
I've written a program in labview 7.1 to monitor/control a labview application running in the test cell through Remote Panel. I and my coworker can remotely monitor and/or control this labview application individually. But if my coworker has the remote panel displayed on his PC and I try to get the remote panel on my PC, I get a labview error (63) as below:
"LabVIEW: Serial port receive buffer overflow.
LabVIEW: The network connection was refused by the server."
My question is: Can multiple PCs access one remote panel at the same time?

Reporting across multiple applications
I'm currently evaluating solutions for integrating heterogenous datasources in university/college legacy applications.
Our applications are all based on Oracle databases, but we have little knowledge and access to the inner structure of these
databases. And the databases themselves are old, and have been the victim of constant extensions.. thus there are plenty inconsistencies,
duplicates and the likes. We also have some commercial applications like SAP, that we'd like to integrate.
Our primary goal is to generate reports using data from multiple datasources and integrate these reports in our new JSP/Coocoon based portal.
Now I've been looking at Discoverer and Repors for this.
- What are the requirements for these tools, only OAS or do they require (or recommend) a datawarehouse solution?
- How are the possibilities for quering multiple datasources and then merging the results as simple as
possible with these tools? Can I define queries into the source databases/applications as "fetchable information slices"
and then let the end users go nuts combine/manipulate these as they wish in realtime?
- Does these tools have any data cleansing possibilities? Eg. detecting inconsistensies?Hi Phani Kumar,
You can report on multiple applications.
If you are using EVDRE, then in the application cell, you just need to change the name of the application. You can have multiple EVDREs pointing to different applications.
Another option is to use the EVGTS function, wherein the first parameter is the application name. You can hardcode the application name.

How to work with multiple users accessing one database
I am a newbie in oracle.
I want to give access to my oracle database for more users.
I created oracle connection with c# project. The application allow to user to insert data to a database table. Now I want to give access to the different users with a login. Is there any way to give access other users to the same database using their username and passwords?

That schema owner should only be a trusted data administration person. Let's call that schema APP_DATA.
Then you set up another schema called APP_DATA_USERS with no privileges and no data.
Then you create an Oracle ROLE object called APP_DATA_ROLE.
You grant the app_data_role to the app_data_user account.
You then grant object permissions in the APP_DATA_ROLE that you want the app_data_user to have for the app_data data objects, like Create SESSION, SELECT on TABLE X. or SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE on TABLE Y.
Now the APP_DATA_USERS only has specific permissions needed on specific app_data data objects that you control by the app_data_role.
Then your application only opens connections to Oracle via the single APP_DATA_USERS account
which is constrained by the APP_DATA_ROLE permissions on what can be done in the data schema APP_DATA.
in your web or app config you create the connection information for the single app_data_user account.
Putting the database aside, you now create the application layer with login controls so many users can use the application.
But when they need data, the application only makes a connection to the single APP_DATA_USERS account
Oracle ODP.NET auto handles the multiple session connections by the multiple application users to the single APP_DATA_USERS account.
In summary the multiuser access is controlled by the application
all making connections (sessions) with a single, limited privilege app_data_user account on the database side. -
Dynamic Tab Template : Use Menu Navigation Across Multiple Applications

I have the following use case and would appreciate help.
Our client has multiple applications which they need integrated into a single home page. I am using the dynamic tab template as my home page with multiple panel boxes containing application specific menus. I need to be able to create a tab from any application via the menu.
My strategy is to use bounded task flows in the various applications, but I am not 100% sure on how to do it. The applications would also contain multiple task flows, so I would then need to be able to paramatise the task flows so that it can execute the correct flow case.

I can access the remote task flow from the menu using the action listener. When I use a managed bean to add a new tab using the task flow it fails with;

If your question is whether you can run multiple instances of WebLogic
(or multiple applications) on one server, the answer is yes. The only
problem is, you must have a unique port for each of the servers to run
on. I.e., they can not all run under port 80 which has obvious
internet/network implications.
This also means you have multiple weblogic.properties files etc. for
each instance.
We do this with WL5.1 on a Linux 2.4 kernel in developement to allow
multiple developers run their own instance on one box.

- insert the ABAP system into the SLD from the NWDI System (Transaction RZ70; the ABAP system is correctly insert into the SLD => technical systems)

- Im able to start the application out of the Web Dynpro content manager with run => only the user interface is displayed without any functionality
- The normal start over the NWDS fails => error text

Having the exact same issue. Also, on right click, many apps freeze/beachball and must force close. Additionally, uTorrent and Transmission are not operating correctly-uTorrent constantly beachballing and unresponsive. Right-click freezes with everything from Word to iMovie. Takes way too much time to do anything, and lots of cursor freezing, here is a sys log excerpt:

disk2s1 (disk2s1) <not mounted>: 209.7 MBI'm having the same issue - started a few months ago and had to forcibly shut down the Mac. That killed the hard drive, so I got a new hard drive and had the Apple Store install Lion on it, then used Migration Assistant to bring files over. Since then I've upgraded to Mountain Lion and have been experiencing lots of beach balls, freezes, etc. They're so bad that I've had to forcibly shut down 3 times, and each time can't restart. Deny application access to oid user
Hi
I'm developing an application that implements sso. The user that tries to access the application ( through any page ) is automatically redirected to the sso login page... so far, so good!
What I want to implement is the application access denial when an user, even existing in the OID, shouldn't access the application.
How can I accomplish such task using ADF UIX in JDeveloper 9.0.5.1. ?

How a J2EE web application access CR reports stored on the CR Server XI?
Hi,
I'll be working on some crystal report templates that will eventually be hosted/publish on the CR Server XI.
My questions are:
1. How my J2EE web application access those reports?
2. Do my web application uses some CR API for the connectivity and integration?
3. What will happen to the database connectivity of the report template? since the report are created locally.
4. Can the report template be edited/updated on the server?
5. How the CR XI login functionality be involve in the integration (web application ---> CR Server XI)?
6. Is the J2EE web application be deployed on similar web/application server where the CR Server XI resides?
7. What is the role of RAS, Universe, Business View Manager to this whole CR integration?
I hope you can provide some guidance on this journey to Crystal Report world

www.gen-net.com.sg1) Your application connects via the Java SDK using the appropriate JAR files.
2) It can. You can set the database information at runtime or use the already populated information from Enterprise.
3) Same as 2. Typically when you save the report to Enterprise you set up the database information there so that it runs against the database you want without prompting. You can change this via code to hit whatever equivalent database you want.
4) Yes. You would have to use RAS and the RCAPI to accomplish this via code. You can also make changes in the designer and overwrite the existing report template.
5) You will log in via code. The information on how to do so is in the SDK documentation, which I will link.
6) It can be deployed to the same machine as CR Server, though we recommend against that. Typically you will want to deploy it to a seperate web server and allow it to connect to the CR Server across the network.
7) RAS can be used to run reports, as well as the page server. The universe and business view manager are not directly used in code. If a report runs against a universe or business view then it will use them for data, but you wouldnt do anything with them directly.

Multiple Application Express Installs on one server
What, if any, restrictions / caveats are there for installing multiple Application Express versions on a single server? We have Application Express 2.2 installed and wondering if we can install Application Express 3.0 also.
With 2.2, we have FLOWS_020200, FLOWS_FILES, and APEX_PUBLIC_USER as database users. Version 3.0 will want to create FLOWS_030000, FLOWS_FILES, and APEX_PUBLIC_USER. Any problems with what I expect will be errors on "user already exists" for FLOWS_FILES and APEX_PUBLIC_USER?

I'm really sorry but this is a typo on my part. It should be "You can't have two different APEX versions on the same instance."
Does it mean that if we install ApEx v3 we will have only ApEx v3?Yes. This is exactly what it means. The installation script automatically detect previous installed APEX (or earlier HTML DB ) version, and upgrade it. You can end up with only one version per instance.

Can I have multiple computers accessing one iTunes library simultaneously?
I've purchased a Lacie Network HD that I'm keeping all of my iTunes on. I've put an alias to the iTunes library from that drive in the music folders of the computers I want to access and update it. That all works well. The only problem is that both computers cannot have iTunes running at the same time. I get an error stating that the library is locked. It would appear that I can't have multiple computers accessing the library at the same time. Is there a work around for this aside from doing network sharing via iTunes? The reason I don't want to do that is that I want both computers to have access to the actual files if I'm using the various iLife apps that use iTunes.

This is true. It's not a server app.
The nearest thing would be a library file on each machine pointing to the same set of music files. However, you might have problems if both machines try to access a particulat track at the same time. Also, changes made on one machine would not be reflected in the other. So if you rip a CD on one, the files will also have to be 'imported' to the other.
