Multiple apps and commands not working

disk utility won't get past "gathering disk information". it's been going for 2 hours. i haven't made any changes. software update won't get past it's scan to see if i need new software. itunes will open but nothing happens after it stops bouncing. photoshop won't quit or force quit. any ideas.

I found more info on my own.
First, WDS is not required to stream to multiple speakers. Standard client mode (join a wireless network) works just fine provided you don't want the AE to extend the network serving as an access point for wireless or printer.
Second, In Sharing (Sys Pref) setting Firewall rule to allow UDP on 6001, 6002 fixed the issue.
Why didn't Apple document that in the AirTunes info that accompanies the Airport Express?

Appletv remote app and airplay not working with iphone 4S

I have the latest appleTV. I have the remote app loaded onto my ipad3 and iphone 4S. The app is not working with iphone 4S, nor do I get the airplay icon, hence I can't mirrior my phone on appleTV. It used to work. I have deleted and reloaded the app, and still nothing. It worked fined until a month ago or so. I have enabled home sharing.
The app and airlplay are working just fine with the ipad3. I have the ipad and appleTV hooked up to my router using 5Ghz, and the iphone only connects to the 2Ghz network on the same router. I don't think this is the issue, because it worked before.
Also, when I click on the remote app on the iphone, to add an itunes library, a code pops up on the phone, which I enter into itunes on my Win7 PC. Nothing seems happed on the computer when I enter the code. Could this have anything to do with recent appleTV or itunes updates? Any possible solutions?

It seems like I am having the same problem.
I have the latest AppleTV 1080, imac 27", ipad, ipad2, 2 iphone 4, all with the latest iOS. After I have the AppleTV connected, a few problems showed up:
(1) ipad plus iphones cannot airplay photo to AppleTV. After the play button and the grey screen displayed "the playing msg on AppleTV", nothing happened. it is the same for ipad/iphone.
(2) iMac not Airplay to AppleTV
(3) Airplay Mirroring not working
The following are done:
- Home sharing enabled
- To test the devices are connected. I set a passowrd for Airplay and the ipad/iphone both requested for it so they are network and devices are ok

Try a couple of basic troubleshooting steps,
Quit the app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Delete the app and reinstall. You will not have to pay for it again as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought it with. Hold down on the icon until it jiggles, then tap the X on the icon to delete the app. Tap the home button to stop the apps from jiggling. Go back to the App Store purchased tab and download the app again.

IPad 3: Apps and Internet not working

A week ago I noticed that none of the applications on my iPad is working. When you click on it they open but unable to connect to the server. I then noticed Safari is also not working. I checked the wireless connection, turned it off and back on again, restarted the router and the wireless shows that it is connected.
Yesterday I took a backup and reset the pad by deleting everything and set it up from scratch, unfortunately this also didnt work.
What could be the problem?

Photos app and Calendar not working correctly since upgrade.

I was trying to insert a photo into a Word document. When I go to the finder the photos app is grey. I cannot chose it or find my pics. Why? I tried dragging and dropping. That doesn't work either.
My calendar has been working fine since I upgraded, until today. I powered on today and my calendar is blank. I have TONS of stuff saved on there. I have gone through the preferences and checked all settings, everything looks fine. I even re-entered things just to let it refresh, to no avail. Any suggestions.

Do you have a backup? If so, try this for Calendar.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library/Calendars and restore from the backup.

Help! i just paid £6.99 for a movie app and its not working what can i do?

Hit the batch command in bridge - it switches to PS but nothing happens.

Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

IOS 5 update fail - apps and Safari not working

i completed the iOS 5 update and now none of my apps work. Also, Safari is locked up. Any ideas of what I need to do?

ios 8.0.2 läuft immer noch nicht, appel online support funktioniert auch nicht! 8.0.1 hatte auch probleme! downgrade auf 8.0.0 funktionierte nur zeitweilig. als 8.0.2 rauskam funktionierten die apps im os 8.0.0 plözlich wieder nicht mehr! nach ubgrade zu 8.0.2 habe ich probleme bei allen apps die eine serversynchronisation benötigen. wann behebt appel den mist den sie gerade programmieren?

Thanks for your response. "Camera Uploads" is a folder in which Dropbox deposits all my photos and movie clips from my cameras. It is a rather enormous folder likely exceeding several gigs of media.
The file path is
/Users/bpg/Dropbox/Camera Uploads/
I really don't know the difference between "media" and "events". I consider media a group or bunch of photos and movie clips. I consider "events" a specific bucket or container of photos and movie clips. If I should know more, a reference to documentation or an explanation of the difference would receive "This helped me." If you could explain how to get FCPX working again (it just won't do anything beyond the splash screen), I will provide "This solved my question."

I just noticed that it says off to the side that itunes does not support 64 bit version of windows xp... is there a way around this so i can run the version of itunes i have now without installing the new one??

Preview app and Spaces not working

I use Spaces with a 2 row 3 column grid, for a total of 6 spaces. I assigned Preview to Space 4 - the lower left space. Every time I double click to open a screenshot png that resides on my desktop, Spaces moves to Space 6, while opening Preview in Space 4. This leaves me in 6 and then having to switch to 4 to view the png.
What's up with this strange behavior? Does it have anything to do with Finder being assigned to 6?

i too have been having a problem with Preview in Spaces since the last 2 updated.
when i launch Preview (by double-clicking on a picture/photo), the program opens, its toolbar appears at the top of my screen, and the photo actually opens in the right Space (# 5). however, my screen remains in whatever Space i was in.
i have to manually go to Space 5 (set for Preview) for the photo to actually show up on screen. it won't switch over automatically, as all my other programs do.
i am clueless as to what to do about this. i already delete Preview from Spaces and reinserted it again.

Hmmmm... would appear that you need to be actually logged in to enable the additional menu features.
Have you tried deletting the plists for MAS?
