MULTIPLE ARTISTS IN ONE AL
hi,
i hope that somebody could help me on this. i've been looking for some solutions in the forum but can't find it. for zen users, it is always hard to copy multiple artists in one album in the zen without scattering this artists everywhere. hope that these multiple artists stay in one artists/album in the zen menu and the best thing to do this is to edit these tracks individually. it's ok if you only edit about 20 artists but if you have 200 or more, this is something else.
i hope somebody in this forum has a better idea or recommended software on how to edit these things easily.. most of the tag softwares only edited the filenames? and some, edited it one by one...

You can't delete "artists" - just songs (or songs grouped into albums). When iTunes displays the library or a playlist in Artists view it is doing so using the metadata values set in the relevant songs. If you're looking at this view:
then your selections in the left pane - the artists list - is filtering what you see on the right. When you select Delete via the keyboard or via a right-click operation, you are initiating an operation to delete the songs by that artist. To delete songs by more than one artist in a single operation you'll need to select and delete in Albums view:
or in Songs view:
where you can also use the Column Browser to filter songs by multiple artists:

Hi,
I want to do a big clean up on an iTunes library with over 4000 albums.
How can I delete multiple Artists in one action?
It looks like I can only delete 1 Artist at a time, and then this action shoots me to the top of the list. Which is a pain then having to scroll back down through such a huge list to then delete the others one at a time... each time being shot back to the top of the list.
For example I have the following artists;
The Alarm 01 – 1 song
The Alarm 02 – 1 song
The Alarm 03 – 1 song
The Alarm 04 – 1 song
The Alarm 05 – 1 song
The Alarm 06 – 1 song
And I want to delete them all in 1 action.
Can this be done? How best to do it?

I just bought a Zen Vision:M 30GB and I love it, for one exception:
I have a lot of video game remixes and such that have more than one artist as filed in Windows Media Player (like this: [artist]; [artist2];...). I'm using ID3 tags (I think?) and some of the tracks on my Zen show as one 'artist' but with all the individual names strung together, semicolons and all. Other tracks show only the first contributing artist as the only artist.
If I can, how do I fix this? Also, is there a way to bind an album not split up into the various artists, but as "Various"?
Thanks in advance. My searches only found me the same artist appearing multiple times, the reverse of my issue.
~kI'm not sure I understand from your post what it is that you want to see. You talk about what you do NOT want to see. Do you use an ID3 tag utility to make changes to your list of artists? My personal choice is ID3-TagIt (but there are dozens of other equally capable programs out there). With it, you can modify album names ... enter single or multiple artists ... and even add the composer, song lyrics, etc. However, just having those in the ID3 tag doesn't mean they will be displayed by all software programs (players) ... that's up to the person who writes the application. So even if you do put them in, your player might not display them how you'd like them to be displayed.
I know this doesn't specifically answer your question, but maybe you can rephrase it so we know what it is you want to see on your player's screen when you have multiple artists.

Misspelled Artist Names Create Multiple Artists from One
What to do if Spotify has misspelled an artist's name and created two artist of one. I have seen many exemples. The Last one is Garnett Silk (right) and Garnet Silk (wrong, it shall be 2 tt). The result is that Spotify has one list with Garnett and another song list with Garnet. The songs are 80% the same and 20% unique for Garnett or Garnet. There are more such misspellings, in some cases one artist or band can become three or four. More common is that many songs are created because of misspellings of a song title. Spotify should be more professional than this. Or is it only a big computer running and making the artist presentations and album and song lists? Where can I inform Spotify about such errors? Merging Multiple Artists Into One Album
Ok so I donwloaded a CD called Buzz Cuts with alot of great artisits. Now my problem is there are 30 songs and Itunes is showing 30 different albums even though they are all from the same CD. Its messing up because of all the different artists. How can I merge them all into one album called Buzz Cuts. Or is there a way to sort them. Its a pain having 30 extra cds at the top screen. Please help.
All of this can be adjusted by simply right clicking a song and selecting "Get info." Under the info tab, you can customize things like crazy. For instance, you can insert into the "album" field the title of the compilation.

TS5181 Multiple Artists on One Station Not Playing Correctly
I created a Radio Station and Added a number of Artists to the Station....now for some reason I here only one song playing over and over...Someone Help!
Well have read many examples of the same problem on previous posts and for some they were lucky enough to resolve this problem by entering the alias tab under server admin - web - site - alias tab and either remove * wild card if shown or add other possible domain types/ matches and the issue was fixed...
I have looked everywhere and cannot see any errors with my entries for site names/ folder or domain names (in other words they are all the same)
I have tried numerous work arounds and fixes and now have a clean install with only AFP, DNS, Firewall, SMB and Web services running.
As below message I have three domains. They are all directed to the one IP and in turn via the router to the server.
I can see this working because 2 out of three domains (websites) appear
The problem is still with the first and last site appear in the browser perfectly, however the website listed in the middle (alphabetically) in the 'Host Name' tree of Server Admin - Web - Sites When brought up in the browser shows details of the site redirect in the browser tabs and header fields (ie name of the web page) but all the content is from the 'index.html' of the first site on the list in the server admin - Site field...
I hope this makes sense to you all...
I cannot understand why it will show the first and last sites in the correct domain name but not the middle one....
I can change names and swap things around but come up with the same effect in so far as only 2 sites will display correctly.
I have read that to tinker with the httpd.conf is fraught with danger as I found to my horror and resultant reinstall to now current clean state.
How can I resolve this the issue please??? -
I hope I can explain this properly. How can I organize my iTunes library so that songs by an artist FEATURING another artist is not listed as a seperate artist. For example, I have a CD by David Sanborn. There are three songs on that CD where the artist is David Sanborn "featuring" another artist. In the iTunes library, this looks like seperate CDs by David Sanborn, but in actuality it's the same CD. If I want to play that David Sanborn CD on my iPod, it will not play the songs "featuring" other artists because it is organized as a seperate artist (David Sanborn featuring ..." I like to find and play music by searching for the artist, not by CD title. Is there a way to search by artist, and have the entire CD play without excluding those songs that "feature" other artisits? Thanks.

Quick answer: Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist" or check the "compilation" flag. -

Some albums will fracture into a million pieces if you have different artist names. How the columns are sorted can effect this.
If it is a multiple artists on one album select 'Compilation' in the options section for all of the songs on the album.

How do I import a album with multiple artists as the one album. Everytime I try to do this it does not collate it into one album, the other artists come up seperatley, also if this is possible can you set so that it works automatically everytime?

Listing tracks from an album with multiple artists as part of one single album
When listing my music by album on my iphone 4, tracks from the same album with multiple artists appear as separate albums. How can I get the iphone to list these as part of one single album? For example, "Rock of Oldies" is a compilation with 50's music, but on my iphone it appears as a long list of distinct albums: Rock of Olides - Elvis Presley, Rock of Oldies - Beach Boys, and so on. I tried bulk-selecting these and flagging them as "part of a compilation" on itunes, but it doesn't seem to help on my iphone...
I just tried, but they still remain listed as separate albums on my iphone when i view by album...

How to make one album show up for multiple artists?
I'd like some albums to show up under multiple artists in iTunes in Windows. Say for example "The Basement Tapes" by Bob Dylan and The Band. It would be nice to see this album under both these artists. Or to have "Two Men With the Blues" show up under both Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis. Can I do that with iTues? If so I haven't figured out how. It would be nice if using a delimiter such as as comma, slash of semi-colon would signify to iTunes that it should lists those songs under all artists but it doesn't. At least commas didn't work. Any help would be appreciated.
iTunes doesn't have the ability to do what you want, i.e. to define multiple separated values in a field and then have the item show up when looking at a selection based on each of those values. "Bob Dylan", "The Band" and "Bob Dylan & The Band" are three distinct values that can't be linked together. Sort values can change where in a list things are displayed but shouldn't be used to attempt to merge different values as results are undefined and unpredictable.

Example: Eminem 'Encore' has multiple artists on the entire track list. Several songs will just list Eminem as the artist, but a lot will have Eminem, FEATURING...so and so. Each song that has "FEATURING" shows up as a different album, so if you are not paying attention, and pull all the songs from a particular album over to your ipod, for example, and you don't see that not all the songs are there, you won't get them all to transfer.
Is there anyway to correct this?Each tune gets a file name - that is how iTunes works. iTunes is a data base manager.
In a PlayList a reference is created that will link to a specific tune.
You can take the tunes that you do not want listed under a particular album name and change the album name using 'Get Info' for that tune(s) from the iTunes window.
