Multiple Assessments within one project

Hi,
Currently working on a project where I'd like to have 3
assessments built in to the same project. The criteria I'd like to
set is:
On the first assessment, they need to pass to progress
On the second they need to pass to progress
On the third they get a total score and marked as compentent
to complete.
Is this possible?
Cheers,
Dean

PR_098 - WELCOME to the all volunteer board. There is one
cumulative score given at the end. There are not sub-scores.
However, you might be able to say "you passed phase 1 and your
score is 33.33% or 100% for that section. But that would be only
one question giving you that ability. Then it would continue and
score the next part the same way. At the end you would get the
number of questions and the overall score. But I think you would be
asking several questions per subsection and that would make this
not work.
If you were using an LMS, then you would just break this into
courses that link to each other. A passes assessment would go to
the end and a failed assessment would take users to the next
learning module. At the end you would have individual scores., but
you might be able to score a sub-module as a collective course with
an LMS. I don't see this as a shortcoming of Captivate because it
is not an LMS, yet it has a built-in Quiz module.
Regarding the first post here by happystar73, that is
possible, but the course would move on and score it at the end. I
have designed several courses with:
Slide 1
Slide 2
Slide 3
Slide 4
Quiz-Slide 5 - On fail go to slide 6 on pass go to slide 7.
Slide 6 Failure - message, hints, etc then on Next> Back
to Slide 1
Slide 7
Slide 8
Quiz Slide 9 - On fail go to slide 10 on pass go to slide
11.
Slide 10 Failure - message, hints, etc then on Next> Back
to Slide 7
Slide 11 End / Score
Notice the pattern. This is what is needed to loop-back in
Captivate 2 (I don't have Captivate 3 due to ongoing bugs that must
be fixed before I agree to upgrade). The loop-back that goes
forward first is the only way that I can get multiple answer
Multi-Choice questions to reset / clear for another try in
Captivate 2. I usually set the maximum attempts at 10 or 20 when I
do this (in the overall Quiz settings and in the Quiz slide
settings and the user MUST take the Quizzes to continue).
If you add to the above the Captivate 3 functionality for
Quiz Pools and randomizing of answers, then you have something more
dynamic. It still produces only one final set of results.
The final method is to link several courses together where
one calls another. But the scoring sould be presentation and not
cumulative.
More advanced users can use SCORM SCO editing tools and
modify the behavior to allow multiple SCO's. There are tools that
assist with this and one of the local (board) SCORM Guru's recently
posted a website that has all of those tools.
I think I just restated what is in many other posts on this
site. However, Captivate is a fantastic screen capture tool for
software simulations, demos and software proficiency assessments.
When you are doing more of a PowerPoint and sound enabled
presentation and need strict SCORM compliance, there are other
options available (generally at a higher price).
Best of luck to you on your projects.

  • Multiple titles within one project for sharing to iDVD

    Hello,
I have about 90 minutes of video from Christmas.
I want to create one iMovie project from this footage, but separate it into 5 different titles (within the project) each of which will have 2 or 3 chapters, so I can just share the one project with iDVD when burning to a DVD, rather than having to do 5 different projects.
    Is this possible?
I've trying for most of the day to figure it out, but I can't.
    Can anybody help?
    Regards

There are at least two ways to do this depending on what results you want:
One way would be to create five separate iMovies; each with its respective 2-3 chapters and then import the five iMovies into iDVD.
When you import the first one into iDVD, you will see its title and the options 'Play Movie' and 'Scene Selection.'
When you import the second one, iDVD creates a title link to another submenu showing the Play Movie and Scene Selection options for the second movie; and so forth for each of the five movies.
This gives you the five titles on the main iDVD screen, and the chapter options on the submenus. With this method you would not have a "Play All" option unless you import the entire iMovie as the first movie. Then, you would have the 'Play Movie' option (which you could rename as Play All Movies) with the five separate movies as title buttons linking to each one's Play Movie and Scene Selections.
However, if you wanted all five titles and the chapter options to be on iDVD's main screen, you can do this with some copy/paste/delete manipulation of the submenus. If you wish to do this, post back for specific instructions.
Second method would be to leave your iMovie as one long iMovie and create chapter markers for each of the five titles; and markers for each of the chapters within those titles. If you label the chapter markers correctly, a viewer will easily be able to see the organization of your iMovie.
The chapters will appear on submenus...usually 4-6 chapters per submenu. I have done this with iMovies of trips where I marked the first chapter 'Italy: Rome' second 'Venice' third 'Milan' and fourth 'France: Paris' fifth 'Chartres' sixth 'Bordeaux' etc.
This option will allow the iMovie to be selected in its entirety...the Play All option...as well as begin at whatever chapter is selected. By carefully manipulating the submenus, you could easily have each of the five divisions as separate submenus.

  • Multiple plant in one project

    Dear PS gurus!
Want to know that can we create one project having multiple plant, if yes ? how we will do costing? How to customize?
plz let me know the concept.
    Ansar

you can have multiple plants in one project
there is no customising for this - the plant would be set up as part of enterpise customising
the costing will be based on the WBS object assigned
for eg you can have a project where some work is carried out in plant A and some work in plant B - projects can be cross plant the cost will be assigned to the WBS based on the actual postings but the WBS can have different plant assignments

    Hi,
I would like to know if there is a way that multiple developers on one project can work separately and later merge work into the main project?  I am thinking about the concept concurrent development.

  • How can I make multiple quizzes within one Captivate project?

Hi guys! Really liking Captivate 5.5, especially the way random question slides can lift questions out of a question pool...very elegant!
Sadly though, I've come up against a bit of a wall. In my project, I want to have 3 separate quizzes that all use the same question pool; a 10, 30 and 50 question-long quiz. Each one needs to have its own results page.
It's easy enough to see what I mean by looking at the screenshot below:
The idea was to have about 105 slides in total, with slides 10 - 20 being the 10 quiz slide, 21 - 51 being the 30 question quiz and 52 - 102 being the 50 question quiz.
There are three invisible buttons placed over those 10, 30, 50 text boxes. In the picture, the '10 question' button would jump to slide 10, the '30 question' button would jump to slide 21, and the '50 question' button would jump to slide 52, jumping the user to the start of their designated tests.
Though I can create the 10 random question "block" easy enough, when it comes to adding the 30 question "block" it just adds the new random questions to the existing random questions. I want three separate quizzes, each with their own results screens please. (I don't want to daisy-chain to external projects, because the results of each test need to be used within the homepage.)
It just adds them on to the existing block!! Argh!!
Little bit ticked off with Adobe...the reason their products are so incredible is because they put no constraints on the user, and you can use their tools to create things even the developers never dreamed of. Like in Photoshop for example, I bet when the dropshadow fx was created, the developers never realised that it would be used to give a metallic 'stamped' look to text by turning it to white and applying it just inside the text.
Captivate, though amazing most of the time, has a nasty habit of stomping on my toes. You can't set grade boundaries and have quizzes give out grades A+ to F- for example. You can only have 'pass' and 'fail', thus making it rather pointless for use in schools, contrary to how the program is advertised. Another example would be when I wanted to create a replay button. I thought that a button that jumped to the slide it was on would be a simple, no-BS replay button, but for some reason you can't make a button jump to its current slide. I downloaded a widget that worked in the end, but I wish Adobe would get off my back and let me do what I want!
Anyway, if you could help me out here it would be grand

I must say I have a little sympathy for the Captivate developers on this occasion.  As you say, they've created an application that does so much, that when you eventually run into a hard boundary of some kind, the effect is somewhat jarring.  However, every application, no matter how good, has limits.  I'm probably one of the worst offenders when it comes to asking the Adobe Captivate Development Team for enhancements (I think I've logged over 70 enhancement requests for Captivate 6 alone).
In your case, you want to have three different quizzes in one project file, each with it's own separate Quiz Results page.  Lilybiri's blog explains how to set up your own faux Quiz Results pages using system variables and custom user variables, but you're going to find this to be quite a lot of trouble.  Even if YOU want to consider these as three separate quizzes, as far as Captivate is concerned they're just one big quiz with 50 questions.  So Captivate will calculate it's internal results based on a 50 question quiz, even if your users select the 10 question version.  So achieving a final Pass/Fail result is going to be problematic at best.
As Lilybiri suggested, your better strategy would be to break this up into separate modules so that you can get your three separate quiz results (all done in standard Captivate) as well as correct results based on the actual number of questions done by the user.
As far as grades A-F is concerned, there's nothing to stop you from using Advanced Actions and User Variables to calculate the user's score as a grade.  You need a user variable that stores the user's grade (e.g. var_Grade). And you need a fairly complex Conditional Advanced Action (e.g. caa_CalculateGrade) with several clauses each of which goes something like:
    If
cpQuizInfoPointsscored is lesser or equal to [highest score for a particular grade]
    AND
greater or equal to [lowest score for a particular grade]
    Actions
Assign var_Grade with [the appropriate grade for that range of scores]
Your conditional action will need one of these clauses for each separate grade.  Once your variable has been assigned a grade based on the user's score, you can display it in a text caption somewhere on the quiz results page or on a slide thereafter with suitable commendations/ commiserations.

  • Best way to have multiple arrangements in one project file?

    Hello everybody,
I am trying to figure out a smart way of having multiple arrangements associated with one project. More importantly, this would allow me to have multiple arrangements associated with the same pool of audio files in one audio window -- without needing to import/export audio.
In DP this is achieved with multiple "sequences". I am aware this feature is not in Logic. However, perhaps there is a way to achieve a similar process?
I guess a not-so-elegant approach would be to simply save a new song; however, if I want to use new song audio files in the old song, i'd have to import the new song audio files to the old song. Not a big deal, I guess.
    Thanks,
    D
      Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Thanks for responding Justin & David,
Let me to try to better explain what I am trying to achieve.
(Currently my problem is that I am thinking in the "workflow language" of DP, trying to figure out an analogous "translation" in Logic. For those familiar with DP, I am simply wanting to create a new sequence, within the same "song" file.
Let's say I create a bunch of audio tracks, and compile them into arrangement A. I would like to work on a new idea that may be part of the final piece; So, I would like to have a clean, new arrangement page where I can put some of the previous audio files generated & used in arrangement A, as well as make some new ones. I'll call this arrangement B. So, in other words, arrangement B is a fresh new arrangement page that uses audio files from arrangement A as well as new ones.
If any previous/current DP users know the best way of approximating DP's use of multiple sequences, I'd love to know what you do.
I will explain what I am able to do if I were in DP (for the sake of communicating my problem, but not intended to begin a DP vs. LP thread).
I will use Logic terminology, but DP concept:
In DP, one can have multiple Arrangement windows that share a pool of audio files from one Audio Window. This allows one to try different arrangements, without keeping track of new/old audio files; and without needing importing and exporting them between songs.
I have been reading the Project Manager section in the Logic manual. (By the way, I am not seeking a DP functionality in Logic; I am seeing how one achieves a similar workflow approach in Logic.)
I realize I cannot even explain myself well. Perhaps I should consider the concept of sub-arrangements, and master arrangement. I guess, sub-songs, and work-in-progress master song. The master songs should have all audio files, and sub-songs have whatever audio files were created while working on that particular sub-song. So, with this, whenever I want to go back to master song, I've got to import the audio files from the sub-song.
This may make sense - & may work smoothly. I've got to try it out.
(Btw, David, I captured a screen shot, but I don't know where/how to post it.)
A major thanks to all who have the patience to read so many words for a one word sentence.
    Thanks,
    Danny

  • How to use two different versions of the same jar within one project

    Hi everybody!
I have a big problem while integrating different web service clients within one bigger java project. Both implemetations need some jar files to work but demand different version. So, i would like to know if there is any way to tell which implementation should use which version! Anyhow i add those jars to the classpath makes working only one or the other webservice working but never both! Any ideas somebody?
    Best regrads,
    Stefan Gtz

Of course do have the jar files different names but the classes inside of them are the same ... means that the standard system classloader can distinguish them. When you add a jar to a classpath the name actually dosent matter.... any other ideas, please?
PD.: i tryed to add a manifest file to the one jar which makes use of one of the dublicated jars to specify which jar to take direcly but it makes no difference since once classes loaded they cant be distinguish ....see:

  • Multiple exams in one project and variable

    Hello captivators,
How do I make a captivate project with multiple exams. And with variables (widgets) that I need in the whole project.
In the intro of the project you can select a character. That selected person is the visual coach (different branding) for the course.
The student needs to through an intro module, next he can choose 6 parts of the course.
    One part = intro,n * show me, n * practice me, 1 * exam.
The student needs to follow 1 part to the end. And then return to the intro.
    1st option: one project
I can’t seem to make multiple examns with multiple results
    2nd option: multiple CP’s
Then I have problems with the variables that are only known in one CP (SWF)
    3th option: Aggregator
Then I can’t make condition. And I can’t hide the captivate menu when exported. I need conditions.
    HEEEELP Please,
    Koen

I've not tried something like this to advise on whether it's possible in Captivate natively...but you've seem to have looked at all options and not found it possible. If that's the case, then perhaps the best option is to make the 'aggregator' in Flash, where you load each related CP file as the condititions are met. It's definitely possible to do, as one of my colleagues always uses his own 'Flash Shell' for this sort of thing. Possible for you, and ok in the project constraints?

  • Multiple Delivery from one project

Experts we need inputs on this process,
Presently we are trying to map the production/Assemble through Network with out PP module,
but if we have multiple products (sections) delivery needed through one project.
    Thanks

    Hi PSR,
    Thanks for your response,
Yes we will assign required material through BOM transfer with header (-ve) as final product,
But requirement is to complete one product we may have 10 or more sections, so if we assemble only it will become final product in project site , now each section we need to show in SAP as deliver from project .

  • Handling Multiple DVD as one project?

    Hi all,
I am new to Encore. I got a chance to play with Production Studio CS3 (retail) before buying, and here is what I'd like to do to test my usual workflow:
I have approx., 6 hours of video in PP CS3 (both DV and HDV) in one project.
I'd like to create 3 DVD-Video disks from this. Is it possible to handle more than 1 DVD in Encore Project at once?
If not, what is the best workflow for this?
Should I split PP project to 3 separate ones, one per DVD, before export?
Or is it possible to export only part of PP project to Encore (say, 1 sequence)?
How do you usually handle multi-DVD workflow?
    Thanks,
    Vlad

    Welcome to the forum.
The answer would be the same, even with CS5.
Now, there is a recent thread on a user with multiple Projects, that have a common structure and many common Assets. I offered a workflow, that I have used for building a "template" Project, where one just Imports the unique Assets, edits the Menus, and then Burns that segment of a series of discs. In my case, I had 17 discs, in a set, and used that for all common items.
If I can find that thread, I will post a link to it, however, if you do not have all those common assets, it will likely not be a useful workflow for you.

  • Do I make multiple videos in one project or make multiple projects??

I am going to make at least three music videos for a local band for their web site. Do I make all three in one project and can i encode them for YouTube separately or do i do all three in totally separate projects??? It seems like once i have all the footage and audio loaded in a project and do one video to upload to YouTube then to do another video i have to load all that raw footage and audio all over again for the next video and then for the third video.... seems like once all that is loaded into a project i could just separate the videos for a few seconds and do another and then another, but how then to send them to YouTube separately???
Or if i do all three in separate projects how can i combine them into one project to export in DVD quality for the band to use for promo???

Personally, I would break the Project into three, discrete Projects, but you do have a point about the Importing of the Assets.
You can certainly do this with one Project, and then Export/Share segments of it with the WAB (Work Area Bar). Here is a look at the WAB from an earlier version of PrE:
As I do not upload to YouTube, I cannot tell you if you can use the WAB, when you do the direct Export/Upload. You may have to do an Export/Share for the individual segments, and then manually Upload each. Others can shed more light on this aspect.
    Good luck,

  • How can I make multiple quizzes with their own results slides within one project of Captivate 7?

In one Captivate 7 project I want to create multiple quizzes with their own results slide.
Currently I have 5 quizzes that all are linked to 1 results slide.
Is there a way to give each set of questions their own results slide?
(I saw a response to a similar question for Captivate 5 from 2012, but I couldn't get much use out of is and I figured there was an easier way in Captivate 7).
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply Lilybiri!
I checked out the link and it's useful, however your other plan might work better for me:
Either you link to separate CP-files that have each their quiz, or you can show intermediate results slides (see link below), but you have to know that the score that will be transmitted to a LMS is the total score of all the quizzes.
But how exactly do I link separate CP-files?  Do I have to publish them first and then link them, or can I link them before I publish?
If you could shoot me a link or some advice I'd greatly appreciate it.  I'm finishing up a huge project that is due at the end of the day and this quiz issue is one of the last things keeping me from being finished.
    Thanks!

  • Multiple Quizzes in One Project

I'm developing a project that teaches 4 different standards,
then has a overall assessment quiz at the end of the course.
The problem I'm running into is that the "pre" quiz after
each of the four standards cannot be independently "scored" without
adding to the total score for the project. It's as if you can only
have one quiz total slide per project, and that total slide can't
    be duplicated for individual quizzes.
Any suggestions? I guess I have to break up each of the
standards into their own projects, then present the final
    assessment as another independent project.
    Thanks

    Welcome to our community, JimmyD
I think you are spot on. There is currently no way within
Captivate to have multiple quizzes in the same project. I'm not
even sure if that would be possible from a technical standpoint.
But I've seen a few folks ask about it here. Because of that, I
would strongly encourage you and anyone else that sees a need for
this capability to alert the Captivate Development team by
    completing a Wish Form.

  • Multiple TOCs for One Project

Is it possible to split the topics in one help project into
two toc (hhc) files? I have a master project that merges about 53
chm files. Some of the slave projects are rather large and over the
years have had several types of information added to them. The
information in the projects are related to each other, but they
need to be organized separately in the master TOC. Splitting the
projects themselves is not a good solution. I would like to have

    Hi,
I am TW working jointly with another TW on a huge multifirm
project for a same client. He is well versed in RH, while I am a
beginner (with using RH) not with TW. He and I each produce large
parts of what will be merged into a single huge context sensitive
.chm file. Having experimented a bit with possibilities such as the
ones you are exploring, I thought we could use it for our project.
But the other TW felt we would have problems down the road.
Just to confirm what John says. But then, I also am not
