Multiple backups of same iPhone possible?

Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible to have multiple backups of the same iPhone on your computer? I have tried changing the name of the phone (ex. my_iPhone, myiPhoneA) but it still only lists one phone (the most recent name) in the "iPhones backed up on this computer" list in itunes. If anyone has been able to do this, or just knows it could be done, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, does anyone know where the computer actually stores the backup info. Assuming I could overwrite an existing backup file with them, being able to navigate to and save those files would allow me to do pretty much what i am looking to.
thanks,
christian

Yes. It's possible to have more than one backup of your iPhone on your computer. The backup is stored in this folder: Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup in your users profile. You have to disconnect your iPhone, navigate to the folder, move that folder to another part of your computer, and then plug your iPhone back in. This should create another backup in that folder. Then if you add the folder that you moved back in. You'll have two different backups. This is a link to the article where I got this info from. It also has the other places backups are kept on your computer.

  • How can I save multiple backups of my iPhone?

This weekend I purchased a new 13" MacBook Pro. In the process of transferring data from my old MacBook Pro to the new one I almost lost all of the data from my iPhone. In the process I realized that by default iTunes only keeps one instance of the backup data - the most recent one.
To avoid such a near miss in the future and to add some healthy redundancy into my life, I would like to be able to keep at least one additional backup copy of my iPhone data. Elsewhere it has been suggested to periodically copy the backup folder to another location. This seems terribly inefficient. Is there a more Apple-like way to create and manage multiple backups of my iPhone and iPad data?
    Thanks!

That's the only suggestion I have seen (or maybe renaming the files where they are).  It is most un Apple-like for a person to want to do anything than how the programs are set up to do things! You're making life complicated.
I guess if you were absolutely deteremined to make it "easier" you could write an Applescript to automate the  copying process.

  • How to keep multiple backups of an iphone in itunes

I have two iPhones, both of which are iPhone 4 with latest iOS 6.1.2. Everytime I connect one iPhone with iTunes on my windows-based computer, it generates a new backup on the computer thus now there exist more than ten backups of this iPhone (labeled with different dates in iTunes->Preference->Devices). However, everytime I connect the other iPhone with iTunes, it updates the latest backup on the computer thus now there exist only two backups of that iPhone. I've not found any setting different betwee those two iPhones. Since sometimes I need to restore iPhone from an old backup, how can I explicitly ask iTunes to keep multiple backups like the former iPhone?
I know this can be done manually if I rename the corresponding backup folder in ...\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup. I'm just looking a more "automatic" way in iTunes setting.
    Thanks.

    Hi Venkat,
Why u want to do with CM25?
Do you have to do splitting before dispatching the operations?
If not you can do the same through CM27
Just need to select all the operations of the order(By pressing shift) then click on Dispatch(press F5)
Still iam doubtful about your question, pls revert

  • Multiple Backups with Same Time/Date

I did a complete backup, reset and restore for my iPad 2 this morning (to ensure maximum performance with IOS 8.1). It worked like a charm, but now I have two seemingly identical backups in iTunes - one with a date in the title and the other without. I have the same situation with my iPhone 5. To make this even more puzzling, I performed the backup and restore using iCloud, but the backups are on my PC. Can anyone explain what is going on? I'd like to remove redundant backups, if possible, but I'm not sure which ones to get rid of (if any).

there is no way to do this automatically but you can switch designated TM drives periodically in system preferences->Time machine. another idea would be to use a different backup solution for your secondary backup. make a bootable clone on the second drive using CCCloner or Superduper. both of those utilities let you schedule backups automatically. and this way you won't rely on a single backup program, plus you'll get extra benefits of bootable clone backups which TM does not offer. that's what many people (myself included) do.

  • How do I restore Multiple backups in one iPhone?

I had recently purchased an iPhone 5S. Without syncing it with my computer I directly started using it and took and saved some photos & videos with it. I also own a iPod Touch 4th Gen 64GB and i wanted to transfer all my apps progress and data to my iPhone 5S. I first backed up my iPod to my computer and then i backed up my iPhone 5S. Now when i restored my iPhone with my iPod's backup all the apps and everything came properly, but the photos which I had taken from my iPhone were all removed and instead were replaced by the backup which contained all the photos and videos of my iPod. Is there a way I can put all the photos from my iPhone's backup without affecting the data currently on my iPhone?

Not directly. You could restore your iPhone 5s with the backup containing the photos you are looking for and then save them to Dropbox. Then restore the iPhone 5s to the iPod Touch Backup and load the photos from Dropbox.

  • Need for multiple backups

How can I create multiple backups for my iPhone? I have had to restore it a few times in the past month & each time, I only have one backup to choose from & it is a backup of the messed up iPhone image I am trying to fix.
What I would like is a way to save the last 5 backups so I can restore to a previous date if the most recent one is corrupt. Is there a way to do this, or am I just wishing for something that does not exist?

See what tokatta does to create a new backup point: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1950351
or place the hole backup folder, located here ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ in a new created folder for each backup you want to save on an external HD.
You might as well use Time Machine and include the iphone backup folder in your backup routine.

  • How do I pull backup files (pictures) from another device to my new device, and merge multiple backups that are on the same iCloud account?  I have an iphone4 and iphone5 backup.  I want to pull photos from both into my new iPhone5

Have multiple iPhone backups across 2 iPhones and 3 iPads.  I need to pull backup files and pictures off of backed up devices that are not my current in-use device.   How do I do that?  They are all under one apple ID.

If you still have the devices, import them to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083), then sync them to your current device.  If they are only stored in backups, the only way to access them is to restore the device to the entire backup.  Note: you can only restore photos in an iPhone backup to another iPhone, and from an iPad backup to another iPad.  If the backups are on your computer, you may be able to extract the photos from the backup using 3rd party software such as iPhone Backup Extractor.

Is it possible to block a number in iOS 6 but the same iphone number could be viewed as online on whatsapp application in the blocked device?

    Hi ChrisJ4203,
I see you didn't comment on editing the numbers in the keypad, I believe you have that problem too but you forgot to click "I have this question too".
By the way I've sent a couple feedback messages to Apple already and thanks for reminding me, I guess I'll have to be doing that more often.
    Enjoy your day

  • I have two iphones using the same computer and I can only find a backup for my iphone and not my girlfriends.  She uses itunes a lot more often then I do but cant find it

I have two iphones using the same computer and I can only find a backup for my iphone and not my girlfriends.  She uses itunes a lot more often then I do but cant find it.  Really need some help.  Shouldnt her apps and details be saved online in the itunes store?  Even her apps wont appear

If you create an Apple ID for your daughter, signing out of the existing Apple ID with the iTunes & App Store on her iPhone will not change anything on your iPhone.
All apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps.
If she starts using her Apple ID to download apps, when there is an app update for an app on her iPhone that was downloaded with the current shared Apple ID, she will need to use that Apple ID and password to download the app updates.

I only use it once every few weeks and each time it is more disappointing than the previous time. does it run better on a Mac than Windows? Is this app really the future of media? Really?

I am using iTunes 11.1.3 -- The most recent version. When I select something from my albums it just freezes. I have restarted it a few times with same result.

  • My iPad has been stolen and I would like to download the backup to my iPhone. Is this possible?

My iPad has been stolen and I backed it up. Where and how can I find the back up? And can I download that backup to my iPhone?

You can only restore the backup to another iOS device.  You can't download it to your computer.  Also be aware that Apple reserves the right to delete iCloud backups after 180 days of inactivity so make sure you do this before that.  Also, you can't restore camera roll photos from a backup to an iPad.  They would have to be restored to another iPhone, or iPod touch.

  • Multiple entries for same apps showing next to 'Open With' in contextual menu since last backup

I did a back up of my MBPs internal drive recently, using Carbon Copy Cloner - since then there are multiples of the same icons for all apps under 'Open With' in the contextual menu. I seem to remember there being a command line that could be entered in Terminal to fix this, but I can't find it anywhere.
    Can anyone help?

Yes, LaunchServices. These are only cache files but can get corrupted. Launch /Utilities/Terminal and copy & paste this at the command line to rebuild LaunchServices: (be sure to copy the entire line it's a scroll)
    Code:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
Then press return. Wait until terminal returns to the command line. Quit Terminal. After that, log out and back in or restart. Let us know
