Multiple Birthday Entries for a Person

I have one person in my Address Book who's birthday is in iCal several times on the birthday. I cannot reduce the number of entries to a single entry. I have removed the person's birthday from the Address Book and I have turned off the birthday display in iCal in iCal Preferences without success. Any suggestions?

I also had this problem of multiple birthday (3) entries in iCal when I updated to Snow Leopard. Only one entry was deleted from iCal when I deleted the contact from Address Book. The 2 other were still showing in iCal, without being associated with any contact in Address Book. Weird!
In order to solve the problem, I deselected "Show Birthdays Calendar" in iCal preferences, which removed all birthdays from iCal. When I reselected "Show Birthdays Calendar", only one entry per contact appeared in iCal. Voilà!

How do I clear out multiple entries for a persons name in the Faces selection?

Can I get some help clearing up multiple entries in the "Click to Name" dialog box in iPhone 9.6?
Here's the behavior I'm seeing:
When I try to assign a name to a Face by clicking the "Click to Name" option, I start typing in my son's name and iPhone is showing me 15 entries for his name.
Of the 15 options, only 1 of them shows a mini-thumbnail photo of him, and a different one suggests that it's from the Contacts app, but the rest of them are blank.
This behavior is not happening for any of the other Faces in the library.
In terms of troubleshooting, I've opened Apple Contacts and ensured there is only 1 contact record for him (there are 2 email address listed). I've selected Library > Faces > And I see one polaroid image in the list for my son. In the past if there were multiple listings here I've seen similar results. I'm not sure what else to try.
What causes these to be duplicated?

I spoke with Apple Support today and they provided a workaround:
I had 7 entries for a person.
Find untagged photo with person in it. Select Entry 1
Find untagged photo with person in it. Select Entry 2
Repeat until you have at least 1 photo tagged with each of the 7 entries
Now go back to Faces and you'll see 7 polaroids listed.
Select each of them and merge them.
Problem solved.

There are actually 5 queries in this report now. From what I understand about a union query, I don't think it will work here because the data being returned in each of the queries is so different. I basically need to know how to make all the criteria for each individual to be displayed before proceeding to the next data set, which will include the same data as the first, but for the next employee, and so on. I need to basically create a repeating frame with each individual's respective data I guess, but every time I do, it tells me that it's referencing an invalid group.

Multiple Birthday entries in iCal 6.0

When selecting under Subscriptions in iCal 6.0 (OS 10.8) I get multiple listings of birthdays (two for each contact with a birithday listed in their contact listing). All my contacts, including those with birthday listings, have shared links between iCloud and On My Mac. Is this the problem? I don't want to lose the shared links in Contacts between iCloud and On My Mac, but I also don't want to have multiple listing for birthdays in my iCal. Please advise.

Okay, I found out that if you have both "shared" cards between iCloud and On my Mac, you will get a double entry for the birthdays in iCal. Moral of the story, don't have shared cards! Good luck

Back button doesn't work due to multiple history entries for the current page. How can I fix this problem?

This problem started February 2015. I have noticed it mostly while searching ebay. When I hit the back button it did not work. I right clicked the back button and found at least 2 and sometimes up to a dozen duplicate history entries for the current page I am on, meaning I would have to click the back button a dozen times to get to the previous page. I am using Firefox 35.0.1 on a Vista computer. I have not found any fix for the problem after searching the internet for hours. I have seen similar issues with people using IE and some say the duplicate entries are caused by banner ads but still no one has provided a good answer or fix for the problem. Please help.

I will leave further answers to users of ebay. Script or adblockers may ease the problem.

Duplicate entries for 1 person in Faces - how to remove?

This might be a simple one to fix.
Whenever I try to tag myself, the suggestions that come back include 2 versions of me. I always choose the top one, but where on earth is the other one coming from?

Can I merge these records somehow?

Sometimes people don't have email addresses or they don't enter them in in the info section on Facebook. However, I just tried the following method and was able to fix/remove my duplicate entries on my iPhone.
1) Go to a photo with an unnamed face, then select the first of the duplicate names from the list.
2) Go to another photo, and select the next name in that list. Do this until you've got an instance of each name assigned to a photo.
3) In the Faces section, you should now have individual entries for each of the duplicate names. Select them all, then right click and select 'Merge Faces'.
4) Sync your devices (e.g. iPhone, iPod Touch, etc.)
5) You should be sorted!

Multiple index entries for single object.

Hi,
Can someone guide me whether coherence allows multiple keys to be inserted in an index for given record(value)? I mean I will insert a single 'value' in the cache and multiple keys for it in the index, and I should be able to search that 'value' using ANY one key (not the combination of keys). I mean the search should use the index and hence should be fast. (Similar to lucene where it will tokenize the specified text and add individual tokens to the index so that you can locate given document using any single token).

Hopefully I am understanding your question correctly.
Adding an index allows Coherence to correlate attributes of values stored in a cache to the corresponding keys in the cache which can result in an increase in the performance of keySet and entrySet methods. This mechanism does not give you an alternate key to use with the get method.

Multiple sidebar entries for Podcasts?

Since I added a new Podcast yesterday using a pcast:// link all of a sudden iTunes shows "Podcasts" in the sidebar TWICE! Once with all Podcasts I had up until then and another time right above that only containing the newly subscribed Podcast.
Only the upper entry is showing an unplayed count next to it. Quitting and reopening iTunes did not help.
I don't want two Podcast entries in my sidebar, and most of all, I want the unplayed count back. What do I have to do to merge the two?

My smart playlist to identify podcasts shows that there are not any podcasts in my library.
I have consolidated files - I have deleted my sentinel file - I think that I have throught of everything. But the three entries, and the rogue numbers remain! Any ideas welcomed.

How do I set birthday reminders without having to create a separate contact card for each person in a family?

I'm trying to set birthday reminders in iCal based on the birthday field in Contacts. But in order to create separate birthday entries for individuals in the same family, you have to set up a separate card for each person. Anyway around that?

Thank you to johnbeardy, Anthony.Ralph and Rob for your replies. The OP (I guess that's me, Maps Man) has been happy with CS since CS2. I have upgraded etc and used it successfully. Unfortunately, I have recently up graded my camera as well but CS5 would not read the new RAW files. My natural inclination was to look at a CS upgrade but Adobe effectively priced me out. It obviously is not interested in amateur hobbyists anymore perhaps because they don't produce enough cash for Adobe. Even the new "Cheap" offer they are offering is still very pricey as well as being ongoing for life. I looked at a variety of alternatives including Elements, Lightroom and DxO Pro 8. In the meantime I used a combination of Nikon's ViewNX2 to judge my uploads off camera then Adobe DNG Converter to change them to DNG and back to CS5 for the fun bit. Rightly or wrongly, I decided that Lightroom was the least objectionable both for cost and user friendliness. And I do like the results I get using it. I can now go back to coming straight out of camera, do a substantial amount of edit work and go directly to CS5 for final touches such as size and frame (perhaps Lightroom does that also but I have not yet found how! Time will tell.) It is just that I find the first part so annoying. I do not mind organisations giving us suggestions (e.g. Catalogues) I just find it a nuisance that I cannot say "Thanks, but no thanks it is too complicated for what I want." As for using it "properly" it is debatable whether Adobe's engineers have done it "properly" if they don't give that choice. After all, CS5 etc does not need catalogues to work well so why should Lightroom's catalogues be "proper?"
Obviously I will be sticking with Lightroom and I will try to find my way round the problem. I had hoped that there may have been some way to customize it for my needs but there does not seem to be.

When importing my address book from Outlook why do I have multiple entries for the same contact?

I have an address book and it contains one list in Outlook. I just downloaded Thunderbird and imported my address book. The address book and one list imported very easily but there are anywhere from 3-5 entries for each person in my contacts. If I delete the extras they are removed from my list as well. Why are there multiple listings for each contact and how can I remove the duplicates without losing my list entries?

as I was looking thru pictures in my finder I noticed there were several copies of the same pictures I had taken yesterday. I just went thru all Seven copies of the pictures (accidental pics of my hands and the desk etc) and right clicked and moved them to trash, then I thought I'd look it up when I realized its not just these pics, but very many had een stored in groups of three or four.

Depends on where you saw them - If they were in the iPhoto library iPHoto has either two or three different versions (no duplicates) or each photos in its library - this is not optional and can not be changed -- If they were not in the iPhoto library then you can do what you please with them and they have nothing to do with iPhoto - iPhoto is only involved with the photos in its library
2. Why is it advised to NEVER make changes to the structure or contents of iPhoto in Finder?

Very simple - if you do you will destroy your iPhoto library and have to start over losing all work you have done in iPhoto - The iPHoto library is a SQLite database and there are NO user servicable parts in the iPhoto library and any changes made using teh finder will corrupt the database and cause dataloss

Multiple entries for a genre in Grid View by Genre

The title says it. I have dozens of "Pop" icons in the Grid view by Genre. And for Rock. And for some others. I actually went through and changed the "Pop" ones to another genre, got them all into one entry in Grid view, then I changed them back to Pop and stupid iTunes put back in all those separate Pop entries. What the ****? It's been doing this for a while. On multiple computers. Why?
I wish I could attach a screen shot of this, that would be much easier to comprehend.

Multiple Birthday in iCal since OSx Lion

I use OS X Lion in German.
Since my upgrade to Lion there are multiple entries of the birthday in iCal.
If I cancel the entry in my adress book there are still multiple birthday entries in iCal for this person.

Go into your iCloud account online and get into your calendar. Open one of the duplicated Birthdays. Close it. Do you get a server error? If not ... go into your second duplicated Birthday and select it. Do you get a server error? I can't remember off hand what the error message read but you've got the same problem I had. The village idiot at Apple had me delete them ... then said that I'd have to speak with an iCloud tecchie as it's their problem. Of course, he had no idea how to get the Birthdays back! Said Apple should have a backup from my initial entry into iCloud. Good luck. I've had three online appointments with the iCloud folks and they've NEVER returned a call!!

Calendar app contains multiple entries for birthday calendar and Apple US Holiday's calendar.

After the most recent update, my calendar app began showing duplicate entries for all of my calendars (google, birthday and US Holidays). I deleted all of the google calendars from my phone and then added each calendar back to the phone one at a time. After doing this, there were no more duplicate entries for the google calendars. However, I have been unable to fix the duplicate entries for the Apple birthday calendar or the Apple US Holidays subscribed calendar. I tried restoring the iPhone, but that didn't work. I then tried to delete the birth date from various phone contacts, but even though I had removed the contact's birthday, the duplicate birthday entries on the calendar remained. I tried changing the contacts' birth date (i.e. altering the month or year), but that didn't update on the calendar either. I'm using an iPhone 5, ios 7.1.1. I do not sync any calendars with iCloud and when I show the birthdays calendar in iCloud, there are not any duplicate entries. Any suggestions?

Literally, no. You will not find a single identical application for all. Apps that are written for the iPhone and iPad have optimizations specific to those platforms, while computer programs will be at least slightly different as they will have optimized features specific to them.
You could look throught the APp store for something you like for the iOS devices, then check the developer's site to see if they also make something equivalent or near so for desktop and laptop computers.
The best you can find is separate applications (albeit maybe from one developer and designed to work as companion apps) that share data seemlessly somehow, but none will be without glitches at times - just the nature of anything that tries to syncronize multiple devices frequently over the internet.
I use Week Calendar on my iPhone and iPad, Calendar in OS X, and Outlook at work. I do not use iCloud to sync calendars, but use separate Google Calendars for personal, and work calendars, linked through my google accounts to those programs on all my devices. Its worked pretty well for the past 3 or 4 years for me. However, I do use google sync for the Outlook calendar, and you cannot get that any longer (google killed it off, but keeps it working for legacy users).
That's just my setup, but no single app or program exists that I could use for all that (or even just for the Apple machine's alone).

Why do I have multiple birthdays listed in ical for one person

Other devices show only single birthdays (iPhone, iPad, web based login to iCloud). Just the MBP shows multiple birthdays that are listed for individuals and usually three per individuals=.

The Calendar app pulls birthdays from the Contacts app.
If you also have another Birthday calendar with the same birthdays, they will show up twice.

Multiple entries for the same company.

Anybody out there have any idea how to enter multiple entries for the same company in Mail without having to enter all information every time for each individual. This was a very basic feature in MS Outlook. Possibly a workaround if not an option within Mail? Thanks.

Select a card with the details on it, and Edit/Copy /Edit/Paste (Command-C Command-V). Now edit one of the cards with the new individual's details. If starting from scratch, create a company card with no personal information and duplicate it as needed.
