Multiple Birthday SUBSCRIPTIONS (NOT duplicate reminders/entries)

My iCal has hundreds of individual Subscriptions to "Birthdays".
NOTE:

MY PROB:
Somehow, my *_iCal has hundreds of individual Subscriptions to "Birthdays"._* That is, I have over 800 Subscriptions in my iCal's left-hand column, listed under "Subscriptions".
*How can I remove all of them so that I do not have to individually delete them?*
*How can I avoid this in the future?*
I already tried iCal/Preferences/ShowBirthdaysCalendar, <turn off><turn on> (I also tried variations of on/off, off/on, on/close window, off/close window, etc.)
I am a MobileMe user and I sync iCal between a PowerBook G4 and an iMac (PowerPC) G5. Both computers now operate on Leopard, but there was a long period where my PowerBook - my primary computer - was on Leopard while my iMac was on Tiger.

Have you tried backing up, then restoring your iCal database? The import back into iCal should clean up the data.
In iCal go to the File menu and select 'Back up iCal...'. Save the file to your Desktop. In the Finder double click the backup (.icbu) file. iCal will ask if you're sure. It may also ask if you want to push the changes to MobileMe - say yes. Now wait.... how long depends on the number of events etc. you have but a few minutes is average.

Duplicate calendar entries - but not related to any kind of sync

I went on holiday for 3 weeks and during that time my iPod touch discharged completely. When I came back and charged it up again I saw that it had reset its date back to what I presume is the factory default of 01 January 1970. I set the date and time to the current date and time - and then discovered that all my MONTHLY and YEARLY repeating calendar entries (but not the WEEKLY ones) have all been duplicated. This is not the result of any kind of sync up since (following a complete system rebuild following a virus attack) I have not yet reinstalled iTunes on my PC and I have not knowingly synced with Outlook because I almost never use it. If I delete an entry that has been duplicated then BOTH entries are deleted. Has anyone seen this behaviour and can tell me how I can remove the duplicate entries? I have looked for posts relating to duplicate calendar entries but they all deal with syncing-related problems whereas mine is not. Thanks.

I have a similar issue. I bought an ipod touch last week and today I synced my entourage contacts, and address book. The address book entries are fine, but I have duplicates on my calendar. Now, its not duplicating per day, its duplicating the previous or next day. For instance, I have a birthday listed for today, it will also show for yesterday or tomorrow. What is causing this? I've checked the calendar on entourage and ical and both show correctly. (ical copies items from entourage)

Multiple Birthday Entries for a Person

I have one person in my Address Book who's birthday is in iCal several times on the birthday. I cannot reduce the number of entries to a single entry. I have removed the person's birthday from the Address Book and I have turned off the birthday display in iCal in iCal Preferences without success. Any suggestions?

I also had this problem of multiple birthday (3) entries in iCal when I updated to Snow Leopard. Only one entry was deleted from iCal when I deleted the contact from Address Book. The 2 other were still showing in iCal, without being associated with any contact in Address Book. Weird!
In order to solve the problem, I deselected "Show Birthdays Calendar" in iCal preferences, which removed all birthdays from iCal. When I reselected "Show Birthdays Calendar", only one entry per contact appeared in iCal. Voilà!

Try linking cards:
Open any contact you want to merge, tap on Edit and look at the bottom part of it. You'll find 'Link Cards' and from there you may select the contact you want to link with the one you're looking at. So if you have:
Contact 1: John A (job)
Contact 2: Business Name (who is also John A but you saved it as a different contact)
Contact 3: Something else that's also John A
You can link all three cards into one. If you choose to, you may unlink them at any time, just tap Edit and then the red circle. Your contacts won't be deleted, but they won't appear under the same ID anymore.

Multiple birthdays on same day are not imported into a new calendar - only the last birthday for that day is imported into the calendar.
Any ideas what is going on?

Same problem with events from an iCal Calendar. I have an iCal Calendar that contains all the events I want included in my iPhoto Calendar - I use it every year, it has Birthdays and Anniversaries plus other important dates. It has worked fine in previous years using previous versions of iPhoto. In iPhoto 11, it only ever includes 1 event per day.
This also applies to Public Holidays
This is a major problem - the Calendar are unusable as it stands. It needs to fixed quickly as this is the time of year people buy their Calendars.

Birthdays (from) Cal/Address Book) Subscription not Syncing to iPhone

Does anyone know how to solve this problem? The "Birthdays" subscription pops up in my iCal. It is checked. It is also checked in the Calendar preferences on the iPhone. I've tried unchecking it and rechecking it. I've tried re-syncing, quitting iCal--a lot of the obvious fixes.

I need the answer to this question also. I have never had a problem with this before, but after the latest update for iTunes and OS4 I noticed that my birthdays are no longer on my iPhones calendar. I have tried numerous things, but nothing works. Everything looks right. I have made no changes. I need my birthdays to sync with my iPhone calendar. Someone please help us.

Multiple Birthday in iCal since OSx Lion

I use OS X Lion in German.
Since my upgrade to Lion there are multiple entries of the birthday in iCal.
If I cancel the entry in my adress book there are still multiple birthday entries in iCal for this person.

Go into your iCloud account online and get into your calendar. Open one of the duplicated Birthdays. Close it. Do you get a server error? If not ... go into your second duplicated Birthday and select it. Do you get a server error? I can't remember off hand what the error message read but you've got the same problem I had. The village idiot at Apple had me delete them ... then said that I'd have to speak with an iCloud tecchie as it's their problem. Of course, he had no idea how to get the Birthdays back! Said Apple should have a backup from my initial entry into iCloud. Good luck. I've had three online appointments with the iCloud folks and they've NEVER returned a call!!

Birthday's not updating in iCloud calendar

When changing the a contact's birthday in Address Book on my mac the relevent change happens automatically in iCal on my mac. But when I look at my calendar in iCloud, there are duplicate birthdays for the same person. When I delete the contact altogether, the two birthdays are still in the iCloud calendar.
In summary: birthdays are not updating in the iCloud calendar (changes or deletes). Any ideas?

I too have this issue. I do not have the same orphan/duplicate entries on my iPhone, but dupes and orphan birthday entries on my iCloud calendar. Any way to remove these?

How to delete duplicate calendar entries on N8?

Hi,
I recently added a .ics file to add some calendar entries into my N8 calendar. But somehow the same calendar file was added multiple times and now I have 5 duplicate calendar entries for each day.
Is there a way to delete these calendar entries without deleting my old calendar entries? The .ics file was a fixture list of a club and has a lot of entries so deleting them one entry by entry is not an option.

Normally the fastest and easiest solution is:
Go to calendar/ Calendars Menu/ Hide or Delete any calendars that you can see (leave Personal or any you use the most)
It did the job for me.

SSRS subscription creating duplicate job

We have this sporadic problem where when we go in to save an edit on a SSRS report subscription, it gives us a duplicate job number error. When I look at the Jobs in the Agent, there are duplicates, so I need to manually delete both duplicate jobs,
then the subscription save will work. If we delete just 1 of the jobs, the issue seems to clear for a while, but then reoccurs. This has happened to us on multiple reports, but not consistently. The subscriptions look fine. Has anyone
else run into this? Any ideas what is causing this to happen?

I have the issue with version 10.50.1600.1 where one unique subscription ID has created three corresponding SQL jobs with the same name but unique job IDs. When I attempt to execute the job manually via SSMS, i.e. exec

'0E02285B-4D85-4F5C-92C3-74F44F27B5ED', SQL Server throws the following error:
Msg 14293, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_verify_job_identifiers, Line 54
There are two or more jobs named '0E02285B-4D85-4F5C-92C3-74F44F27B5ED'. Specify @job_id instead of @job_name to uniquely identify the job.
So it would be helpful to know the root cause to avoid the same issue in the future.

How do I get rid of duplicate calendar entries in my notifications?

I managed to get rid of all my duplicate calendar entries on my calendar. I unchecked all but the two calendars I use.
The problem is that when I go to my notifications screen, under "Calendar", it still shows all my entries like three times. How do I get rid of this? It takes up all the realestate on my notifications.

Sounds like your syncing Calendars over the air with iCloud, as well as with a supported Calendar application on your computer. Doing both will duplicate your entries, so do one or the other, not both.

How do I add multiple birthdays to address book cards?

I am trying to figure out how to add multiple birthday's to cards in my address book. Example I have Jennie & John Smith & their daughters Sue & Susie. How do I add a birthday for each one? There does not seem to be a way to add more then 1 birthday but I can add as many URL's, e-mails, phones, address etc. as I want?

Apologies in advance for quantity of detail following..
Currently there appears to be no way to add an additional birthday. (Haven't explored command line options)
There are shareware options that will allow you to utilise the 'anniversaries' field to make additional birthdays and add them to iCal.
Personally, when I want that level of individual detail for a person I make a sep. card and add a note or 'related person' item.
I can only assume that the decision was made by Apple that we can have (and do) any number of phones and emails etc, but usually have only one birthday (some lucky people ie Queen Elizabeth have an official public holiday 'birthday' in some Commonwealth countries, so they get more gifts... but then have your issue)
With iCal you are potentially stepping into a minefield (so many things could be improved)
But consider that Apple have a key philosophy of simple.
There is enough for everyday use, but not so much it is overwhelming to the new user
If you want advanced functionality/technical capabilities, buy a 3rd party product
Certainly there are additions I would like to see:
The 'related names' field would be very useful if it were threaded within the address book to link/refer to other contacts, not just a static field.
Threading within contacts would also be convenient for adding names/addresses to an appointment in iCal (but not have to send requests etc)
Making a contact a 'Business', should allow multiple 'people', or as above, tie in multiple contacts
Maybe something for v6...
Maybe I should buy another app too

This has two parts. The second one, having the extra dates sync with iCal/Calendar, I don't (yet) know how.
The first one, though, isn't so hard. Go to Addressbook/Contacts preferences. Under templates, click on "Add field" and select "dates."
Now you can customize the template to default with "Anniversary" or whatever other nametag you'd like to give the date field or fields.
I'd really like to hear how, if it's at all possible, even, to have those sync in iCal/Calendar.

On my iMac, I also have many folders containing some of the same photos. My computer is used for both personal and business purposes. My libraries should be separated, one for each.

To merge libraries use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - or Aperature
To find duplicates within an iPhoto library use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -
Photos that are not in an iPhoto library can be imported telling iPhoto not to import duplicates (an imperfect procews) and then IPLM can find the duplicates
As to keeping seperate libraries - only you can do that - IPLM can move photos between libraries for you but only you can know which photos should be in which library
