  • HT5590 Use caching server with multiple public Addresses?

    According to the Apple documentation, to use the caching server, all clients need to share the same public address via nat. On my network with many macs, this would appear to make the caching service useless, as we have multiple public addresses to which our clients are nat'ed (a full class C, to be exact). Is there anyway around this restriction, or am I simply going to be unable to use what looks like it would be a highly usefull service?

    Yes, the multiple internal/private subnets mapping to a single public IP is very common in the education/enterprise arena. It is the basic hub-spoke topology:
    where all spokes connect to needed resources at the hub, and only the hub is connected to the Internet. In the case of K-12 education, we need to run a content filter (by Federal rules) on student Internet connectivity. The most efficient way to do that is to locate the filter (along with other servers and resources) at the hub and then route all Internet traffic through the hub. Each spoke (and the hub) is a different internal/private network subnet ... 10.65.x.x, 10.66.x.x, etc. In my case I have 3M from each spoke to the hub, and then 45M from the hub to the Internet.
    In the "old" days ... pre 10.8 ... we had (and still have for some of our oler 10.4 computers) a software update server at each spoke, and computers at each spoke were configured (with the Apple software update script) to get their updates from the update server at their spoke ... iApps as well as OS apps. This worked perfectly!
    Now that Apple, in their Orwellian attempt to monitor and control iApps, has introduced this "either-or" attitude about using a local update server OR caching server  (but not giving you the option to get iApps from the local update server) they have really hurt schools like mine. Without being able to serve all updates locally on each spoke, updating becomes impossible when you are tryiing to udpate a lab full of computers, and the iApp alone is 1.2G for EACH computer ...and now it must come from the Internet since the caching server is 'broken.'
    I currently have case open with Apple Enterprise Support, and will now also get my K-12 Apple Support Tech invloved. I will share this info with them. Perhaps there is some solution that I do not know about, or perhaps there will be a solution created by Apple for situations like mine. I can't see being the only one with this problem, I just think that I may be one of the first to notice it due to my limiited bandwith situation.
    Thanks for your insight. Your original post got me thinking and enabled me to identify what *I* feel is the problem. I will keep this thread updated.

  • Cache server-Content server

    Hi,
        1. What is the procedure to copy originals from local content server to central content servers located at different geographical locations. (There is a report  SAPKROTP, but i am unable to execute it). Even if copy it, will it display in DIR as two different files.
       2. About Cache server : As name implies it is a temp storage and based on reference from SAP help and few other documents, it is very clear that documents cannot be checked in cache server. Also We are not defining cache server in OAC0 and OACT settings. Hence Can we check-in originals in cache server?.
         If any of you have worked with multiple caching and multiple content server distributed environment, please mail me the document. My mail id is [email protected]

    <b>Points will be awarded for useful answers</b>

    Hi Prasanna,
    A Cache Server is used to store copies of documents when they are accessed for the first time. As a result, the documents can be accessed again more quickly, since the contents are taken directly from the Cache.
    With Cache the Originals documents are stored in one location on content server. The copies in the cache can be replaced with newer content at any time.
    The Original document will still be located on the Content Server
    The Content Server can Retrieve the cache Content at any time
    As earlier i had told you that any number of content servers can be installed in different locations. The contents are transferred directly b/w the client & content server. If the Content server are accessed from different locations that are linked via WAN cache servers should be used.
    You need to install one Cache Server at each location on WAN for enhancing the performance & Reducing the traffic in Network. So Cache server is used only for speeding up accesses of documents stored.
    For Customizing the Multilayer Cache Servers & Content Servers follow this SAP NOTE <b>0216419</b>
    Hope following this Note will help you & solve your problem.

  • How can i see the content of the cache server 2 ?

    How can i see the content of the cache server 2 ?

    Caching server is backed by an sqlite database.  If you want to see what you currently have downloaded, you can glean some information by accessing the database.  Use this command to connect to the database:
    sudo sqlite3 /Library/Server/Caching/Data/AssetInfo.db
    Once connected, you can use .tables to see the tables in the database but the one with the most information appears to be ZASSET.  Use:
       select * from ZASSET;
    To list the current contents.  You will get a series of records similar to the following:
    26|1|5|0|868991341|402440412.42114|402507221.969799|ffaf18a45cd5dd5e853233629036 5767|30B9108D-ABE4-4061-A2E0-42E91301249B|Fri, 06 Sep 2013 18:21:34 GMT|/content/downloads/14/11/091-9722/ognnjd4fno85m4pbapjtnv23b7rf1mkufx/OSXUpd Combo10.8.5.pkg|
    Note that the final value is a human recognizable name of the package.  However, you may also see items like this:
    125|1|4|0|11622676|406739736.508118|406739736.508125|4f1f9b08b32f9f6211e4569604b 1efef|481BF3D9-99BB-415F-ADB6-860EDD24B08E|Thu, 14 Nov 2013 10:24:30 GMT|/us/r1000/032/Purple6/v4/37/a3/d2/37a3d2f7-2594-8224-7eda-712f17a3fd8b/mzps 6227198657217312566.D2.pd.ipa|
    This is an iOS application.  There is no real way that I know of yet to match the package name (mzps6227198657217312566.D2.pd.ipa) to a product name.

    Thanks Srinath.
    We have resolved the issue but we had to follow below steps as we were not able to see Folder_g in componet list.
    1. After login to content server, navigated to Admin Server.
    2. In Advanced component manager, we have updated component configuration with selecting Folder_g and press Update
    3. After that we followed the steps 2 and 3 as you mentioned.

  • Content server - Cache server

    Hi,
      We have installed content server and it is working fine. We would like to install cache server to access content server from different location to reduce the access time. Is there any document/guide to link cache server to the existing content server.
         For ex.When the user in Delhi stores the original, it has to route through cache server (Located at Delhi) to the content server (Located at Chennai) and get stored in Content server.
    My mail ID is [email protected]
    Prasanna

    Hi Prasanna,
    the installation of a cache server is pretty similar to a content sever. Therefore it's covered in the installation guide of the content server. You find the installation guide on
    http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Netweaver -> SAP Netweaver 7.0 (NW2004S) -> Installation
    In the Window scroll down to the end. You find the Installtion Guides under
    3 - Installation - Standalone Engines - > Installation - Content Server 6.40 on UNIX
    3 - Installation - Standalone Engines - > Installation - Content Server 6.40 on Windows
    On http://service.sap.com/ContentServer you find additional information including an FAQ answering your questions on the cache server.
    Bye, Michael

  • Cache server metrics-Current Open connections

    hello all,
    I have a query regarding the dashboard cache server metrics in CMC.
    When I run the dashboards, data is getting cached in the cache memory, but dashboards are using that cached data only when the "Current Open connections" in the "Dashboard cache server metric" is non-zero.
    i.e., example when I run the dashboards for the first time, "Current Open connections" under Cache server metrics is 10. When I run the dashboards immediately with in 20 minutes, results would come very fast. But after 20 minutes , the "Current Open connections" are becoming 0(connections seems to be expiring) and after I run the dashboards, they are performing slowly though the data is present in the cache memory.
    I have tried changing the "Idle Connection timeout" to 240 minutes from the existing 60 minutes, still "Current Open connections" under Cache server metrics is becoming 0 after 20 minutes.
    Kindly help me as this is affecting the dashboards performance.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
    Appreciate any help on this. Attached is the screenshot of what I was referring to. "Currently Open Connections" becoming 0 in 20 minutes(even after the idle time connection timeout is increased to 240 minutes) , while the number of open connections shows the number.

  • Db connection from content server context through JSP

    Hi All,
    Can anyone tell me how to get ucm db connection from Content Server context through JSP file? Thanks.
    Joe
    FMW Team,iTech,Shenzhen

    Start by getting a sample JSP here:
    http://www.corecontentonly.com/Blog/UsingJavaServerPagesWithContentServerAndAnExample
    Then, you can use the Workspace object in the jsp to create resultsets from SQL.
    String sql = "SELECT * FROM REVISIONS";
    // Execute the sql
    rs = objWorkspace.createResultSetSQL(sql);
    drs = new DataResultSet();
    drs.copy(rs);
    for (drs.first(); drs.isRowPresent(); drs.next())
    String dDocName = ResultSetUtils.getValue(drs, "dDocName");
    System.out.println(dDocName);
    }

  • What does the "Only cache local content" box do under Caching Server?

    Just upgraded to Mavericks server, but I don;t understand what the "Only cache local content option" does? Does that mean it caches content on an on-demand basis, or dowloads all availavle updates?
    Thanks!
    Joel

    I suppose it's hidden in the Key 'PeerFilterRanges'
    When PeerFilterRanges is boolean true, the caching server does the same as the above but uses the ListenRanges rather than the PeerFilterRanges value.

    Ok... is this supposed to be a question?
    Maybe reading the documenation would also help you in this case?
    Did you try?
    > if not, please suggest me the correct methodology.
    So it was indeed a question - but how do you expect us to answer it?
    Because you didn't really gave us any alternative to decide on here...
    > Content Server and cache server was installed on MaxDB 7.6 and build 18
    Are you guys getting any prizes for using the oldest software you can digg up in the service marketplace?
    If there  is anything I can recommend at this early stage of your question:
    Upgrade the database to a recent release, read the documentation/sap notes/WIKI/training content for MaxDB.
    regards and a sucessfull new year,

  • Connect Multiple Ingrian server in same JVM

    Hi All,
    I have faced an issue where I have to connect multiple Ingrain server depending on some choice in same JVM.However I can able to set one server for jvm by placing the IngrianNAE.jar and IngrianNAE.properties in jre/lib/ext and every things running well, but if I tried to modify the Ingrain properties file during runtime through System.setProperties(), it always  pick the old  value instead the new one. So my question is that whether it is possible to configure  for same JVM or not.
    Thanks & Regards

    Any Inputs...?

  • Server 2.2: Caching server not caching content

    I configured and turned on the new Caching server, then on the same computer went into Mac App Srore and purchased an app.  I then checked the cache data directory and it is still empty.  Shouldn't it be caching purchases as well as updates? According to the Server app help file, it should.  It also says that no client configuration is needed.
    I checked the debug log at /Library/Server/Caching/Logs/Debug.log, and it contains these entries:
    2012/12/08 11:57:28:531  Request for configuration from http://suconfig.apple.com/resource/registration/v1/config.plist succeeded
    2012/12/08 11:57:28:715  computerModelRules missing from configuration http://suconfig.apple.com/resource/registration/v1/config.plist
    Is this normal?  Would it prevent caching?

    Well, all the permissions look right.
    I have deleted all the directries under Caching and it recreates them with the right permissions.
    I've moved the logging level to verbose and run it again and that seems to make no difference.
    I have two files in the directory Logs
    macpro:Logs XXXXXX$ ls -l
    total 16
    -rw-r--r--  1 _assetcache  _assetcache  1235 17 Dec 20:56 Debug.log
    -rw-r--r--  1 root         _assetcache   929 17 Dec 20:56 LastState.plist
    macpro:Logs XXXXXXX$
    Debug.Log looks like
    and LastState.plist looks like
    If I show the directory /Library/Server/Caching I get
    macpro:Caching XXXXXX$ sudo ls -lR
    Password:

    drwxrwxr-x  3 _assetcache  _assetcache  102 17 Dec 20:56 Config

    I'm very puzzled.

  • Cache Server Post Customization

    Hello Team,
    We have installed Windows based 6.40 cache server in addition to Unix based Content server to impove  network response time in DMS functions.
    We have done post customization settings (OALO,SCMSCA,SCMSHO, SCMSIP) . We can successfully test the cache server with URL as mentioned in installation guide ( http://localhost:1095/Cache/CSProxyCache.dll) , and with report RSCMST from backend R3 system. However , how can we verify the existing content server to cache server intrgration. Are there any post steps need to be carried out to know the cache server existisance in DMS system .
    The available cache server notes ( 216419,0407520)  does not provide sufficeint information.
    Thanks
    Makrand

    Hi Makrand,
    Have you performed the cache connectivity test?
