Multiple camera recording question

Ok so if i have multiple cameras and one of them triggers and is recording can another record at the same time.  it looks like when this happens i lose a video.  the triggers are all in the activioty log but no video is there to see.
Al

From my experience the cameras record independently. The motion sensor mode however is not enough for consistent recordings with the wireless cameras. I had to create a second timed mode for each wireless camera and set it to run all day. The issue I have now is consistently viewing the recordings. I keep getting an "unable to play" message! always something!

  • FCP / Multiple Camera Recording

    Hello.
I have a question about a TV Studio setup to record up to 4 video streams SD and or HDV from x4 cameras to computer in order to edit the streams later.
    How can this be accomplished?
For example, is there a PCI input card or box that can accept multiple streams of video at a good resolution, and if so is there a CPU powerful enough to take care of this capture.
I suspect there wont be a way of doing this with each computer, so would the other option be to use an Raid system.
Using a Raid system i think we would need a computer for each camera, feeding multiple raid arrays, with an x-serve metadata controller. Each system would run FCP and feed the raid.
Am i on the right lines, or is there a more complicated or simpler solution to using Mcs in a TV studio environment?
Any help on what is required regarding such a setup would be great.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jim.

  • Question about multiple video recording

right so im going to be starting a small studio with some other people recording bands, interviews, news reports for our website and set top box (most of the major stuff like premisis etc has been sorted)
we will probly have 3/4 cams recording both sd and hd so i was wondwering is there is any way of recording all of them onto one machine (mac pro 8 core etc) with say 3/4 aja, black magic internal cards would that work or would i have to get say 3/4 mac mini's with firewire aja/motu boxes and record using them
im trying to keep costs low but quality high and also less equipment means less to go wrong etc, i want to try and get away without tapes and keep it all digital
any advice or if i have missed anything feel free to ask

  • Multiple cameras in FCP

I've read some of the other posts on this and I want to make sure I understand the issue of multiple camera edits in FCP. In order to synch up the cameras on prosumer models (Sony PD170) I would need to manually find a place where the cameras both have the same noise spike or easily identified visual cue and then I can set that as the starting synch point? When I import my video into the computer it comes in as one long stream and then I make subclips using the start/stop markers in the timecode (forgive my laymans explanation). Does that mean I have to manually synch each subclip, or only the start of each large import DV file import?
I'm getting a second camera and I need to know what I'm dealing with before I get off the ground on this. I heard you could do something like bringing all the cameras together, turn them on, and then clap so they all have the same spike to synch on? Does that mean I just have to synch it once to cover all the clips from each dv tape?
Thanks for putting up with a newbie

    Brian,
You've asked several questions - some regarding editing, some regarding shooting. I'll tackle the editing part first:
Does that mean I have to manually synch each subclip, or only the start of each large import DV file import?<<</div>
It really depends on what it is you're editing. For example, if its something that was shot all in one take, such as a wedding ceremony, then each of the cameras should have been recording non-stop throughout the duration of the ceremony. When you're ready to edit, in FCP's Log & Capture window, you'd set an IN and OUT point at the point you want to start and end the capture for each tape.
Once the tapes from all cameras have been captured, if you have FCP 5, you can use the multi-clip feature to sync all clips to a common IN point you've set on the clips. Then follow the manual's instructions for multi-clip editing.
If you have an older version of FCP, you'll have to do it manually but it isn't really hard at all. Just takes a bit more time.
Now if you were shooting something with multiple cameras and the cameras were started and stopped/paused at different times, then you'll need to sync up each take from each camera. Kind of the same as above, but with shorter clips.
I heard you could do something like bringing all the cameras together, turn them on, and then clap so they all have the same spike to synch on?<<</div>
It does make it much easier to sync up clips in post if the camera tapes have an easily identifiable sync point. A loud hand clap, a photographer's flash or anything else can work. If the cameras are not close together it is usually better to rely on a visual cue since sound travels so slow ... which is why I often use a battery operated pro flash unit (an old Vivitar 285 left over form my photography days).

  • Syncing timing on multiple cameras

Im working on a project with multiple cameras shooting at the same time. I'd like to import it into iMovie and essentially sync up the time on both sets of clips. That would make transitioning from one camera to the other very easy. Is this possible?
Bonus question, I'd like to do the same with the audio I recorded in GarageBand.

You really need Final Cut Pro to do this sort of thing easily.  It can sync the audio from multiple cameras automatically and allow you to switch the between them as you like.
In iMovie the easiest would probably be to select the clip with the longest duration or best quality audio and put this in the timeline as a base.  You would detach the video from the other clips and place them above the first video clip as connected clips, moving them manually until they are in sync with the audio (I'm assuming you have people speaking or action which requires precise audio synncing.  For more info see:

  • Loading multiple physical records into a logical record

    Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this thread.
I have to import data from a fixed length positioned text file into a oracle table using sql loader.
My sample input file (which has 3 columns) looks like:
    Col1 Col2 Col3
    1 A abcdefgh
    1 A ijklmnop
    1 A pqrstuv
    1 B abcdefgh
    1 B ijklmn
    2 A abcdefgh
    3 C hello
    3 C world
The above text file should be loaded into the table as:
    Col1 Col2 Col3
    1 A abcdefghijklmnpqrstuv
    1 B abcdefghijklmn
    2 A abcdefgh
    3 C helloworld
My question: Is there a way tht i can use the logic of loading multiple physical records into a logical record in my oracle tables. Please suggest.
    Thanks in advance.

    Kulash,
    Thanks for your reply.
The order of the concatenated strings is important as the whole text is split into several physical records in the flat file and has to be combined into 1 record in Oracle table.
My scenario is we get these fixed length input files from mainframes on a daily basis and this data needs to be loaded into a oracle table for reporting purpose. It needs to be automated.
Am still confused whether to use external table or a staging table using sql loader. Please advise with more clarity as am a beginner in sql loader. Thanks.I still think an external table would be better.
You can create the external table like this:
    CREATE TABLE     fubar_external
    (      col1     NUMBER (2)
    ,      col2     VARCHAR2 (2)
    ,      col3     VARCHAR2 (50)
    ORGANIZATION  EXTERNAL
    (       TYPE             ORACLE_LOADER
         DEFAULT DIRECTORY  XYZ_DIR
         ACCESS PARAMETERS  (
                                 RECORDS DELIMITED BY     NEWLINE
                          FIELDS  (   col1        POSITION (1:2)
                                      ,   col2        POSITION (3:4)
                               ,   col3        POSITION (5:54)
         LOCATION        ('fubar.txt')
);where XYZ_DIR is the Oracle Directory on the database server's file system, and fubar.txt is the name of the file on that directory. Every day, when you get new data, just overwrite fubar.txt. Whenever you query the table, Oracle will read the file that's currently on that directory. You don't have to drop and re-create the table every day.
Note that the way you specify the columns is similar to how you do it in SQL*Loader, but the SEQUENCE generator doesn't work in external files; use ROWNUM instead.
Do you need to populate a table with the concatenated col3's, or do you just need to display them in a query?
Either way, you can reference the external table the same way you would reference a regular, internal table.

  • Multiple info records for the same material record in the catalog

    Hi Guys,
I have got sort of a puzzle I can not solve at the moment, maybe some one can help me to solve it. The situation in our system landscape  is as follows:
    Systems:
    SRM 5.0 (Classic implementation scenario)
    ECC 6.0
    SRM-MDM 2.0
    PI 2005
Material master is maintained in R/3 and the materials are replicated to SRM. From SRM we replicate all materials to the catalog repository in  SRM-MDM.
As the material master in R/3 is vendor independent, the materials replicated to SRM also have no vendor attached. For the first initial material replication from SRM to the catalog SRM-MDM this also means that the products in the main table of the repository, u2018catalog positionsu2019, will not have a vendor or vendor number attached (i.e. no reference to a source of supply).
To assign a source of supply in the repository to a product (record) we will use info records which are replicated from R/3 to SRM-MDM.  The mapping for this in the Import Manager can only be based on the product number. As this is the only unique value available which can map a info record to a already existing (but vendor less) ptoduct item in the catalog.
As long as every item in the repository has only one unique info record, meaning one source of supply with a specific price, there is no issue in the above scenario. Based on the product-id, the info record data will be matched with the material item in the catalog.
The issue for me arises when multiple info records exists for the same material. The info records can heave different vendors and different prices. All possible vendors should be available in the catalog for the same material (at least this is the requirement ).
At this point the product-id will no longer be an unique value. Importing the info records will cause problems, as only one material record is available in the repository for the specific product-id (remember that when doing a initial replication of the material master to the catalog, no vendor data is replicated).
Does anyone had this issue before, and knows a solution? Is it for example possible during the import of the info records in the Import manager, to duplicate material records in the destination data, based on the number of info records available in the source data for the same product-id. Or is there an other solution that I am missing?
    Your help would be appreciated!

    Skander

  • Need a solution for multiple sites and multiple cameras

    Hello,
I have a customer who has 3 different sites all in different locations. They are not connected through VPN however they do have a terminal server at the main location. They have 6 cameras total, 2 at each location. They are looking for a way to be able to connect all of these cameras to a centeral location (i.e. website, server, ect.) so that all 6 cameras can be viewed on the same screen by different users who would be given access. I am looking for the best solution working with a tight budget. Let me know your ideas and how you would implement it.
    Thanks!

    Ben,
Normally when you have multiple cameras you would log into the web interface and change the http port of at least one of them. The default port is 80. We normally would change one camera to use http port 1024 and the second 1025. Then you simply forward port 1024 to the first camera and 1025 to the second in the router. Just remember that when you attempt to access the cameras after you change the port it will look like this: :1024">http://:1024 (locally and remotely) Please reply if you have further questions.

  • What are the steps to using camera & color space matching on footage with multiple cameras?

    Hi there,
I am new to speedgrade, and need to use the Camera and Color Space Matching technique to automatically color correct my sequence which contains footage from multiple cameras. I have watched all the videos on speedgrade on AdobeTV and lynda.com that I can find, but haven't been able to find one that actually shows me how to do so. Can anyone point me to a video/tutorial where I could learn the steps for the process or outline them for me if that is easier?
    Thanks!

I'm in the same boat.  There is a new 'camera matching' function that premiered at NAB 2013, but when will it be actually available...?   As to your original question, look up getting a proper White and Black balances with each camera first. Learn how to work with HSL and RGB values etc, and I think Karl Seoule has some videos that cover this under 'Color Finesse' vids at Adobe TV.  Also check out the '3-Way Color Corrector' tuts and "Secondary Color Correction' tuts as well.  And finally either on Adobe TV or Creative Cow there is on video that actually talks about matching either 2 shots or 2 cameras as well.
All this is to say here is no easy/simple way.  I'm hoping when Adobe introduces the Color Matching in Speed Grade we can just use stills as reference in Speed Grade, develop 'looks' that match the cameras and then apply the looks in Premiere without having to use the huge .dpx files that we have to use in Speed Grade now, but that may just be part of the process.

  • What happened to multiple camera support in OnLocation CS4?

Am I going crazy?  Didn't OnLocation CS4 support multiple cameras (changing between them with a drop down selection) after its first release?  But after one of those Adobe software upgrades it seems I need to close the app, turn off one camera, and start the application back up??
When I originally purchased my CS4 collection of software and began to use it, I used OnLocation to record clips from two identical Canon HV30 cameras.  In the "monitor" portion of the screen there was a drop down box that allowed to select between the two cameras currently attached to the computer.
However, after one of the several Adobe CS4 updates, this feature no longer seems to be included in the software.  There is no drop down box in the monitor window - instead it just says "Monitor: Canon Camcorder."
When I start OnLocation just one of the cameras shows up - the other is not even given as the option.  If I start OnLocation with only the second camcorder turned on, the software does in fact use that camcorder - so both work correctly with the software it just is either not recognizing both at the same time (as it did before) or refuses to let me change between them.
I can see both camcorders in the device manager.
I am not even asking for simultaneous recording here...

Yes, uninstalling 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 and rolling back to 4.0.0 should get you this feature back. However, I would strongly urge you not to do so. The patches fixed quite a few crasher bugs, so you'd be taking a big step backward in stability in return for that feature.
If the ability to switch cameras is essential to your workflow--and if you own CS3--I'd recommend that you use CS3 for your switching needs rather than running 4.0.

  • Problems acquiring and saving multiple camera images using a switch with GigE cameras

    Hi Folks,
We are having an issue with connecting 6 GigE cameras via an Ethernet switch. We can acquire and store individual cameras but once we increase the number of cameras we end up with jumpy avi files.
Each camera has been physically labelled and attached to the switch, so camera 1 is attached to port 1, which then corresponds to Cam1 in MAX. When recording multiple files what appears to happen is that the avi file from cam1 actually has images from multiple cameras, as if cam1 is being renamed/allocated on each frmae and each time a different camera is allocated. How can we fix this?
We are new to this so any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Cathy

I think your problem is caused by using the same image name on each instance of Imaq create. "Grab and Save to AVI Acq" being the string you are using. I am pretty sure If you make each image name unique you wont get image referance problems.

  • X-Fi Platinum Multiple track record

??I have been doing a little reading on the forum for multiple track recording but I could not find anything specific enough for what i need. I have a Fostex digital recorder and i would like to either send out the multiple tracks of say a drum recording to multiple tracks on Majix Music Studio ten. I have been playing around with it but i cant find exactly what I need. Ideally I would like to use the ADAT format from a digital optical cable to bring in the individual wave files directly to the computer. But if?can find a better way or if sombody knows of a fairly inexpensi've digital mixer with at least 6 channels (any input preferably XLR). Also my recorder has SPDIF but only in a two track format. It also has MIDI outputs and inputs but so far I dont think I can use that?for controling my software and sending in multiple tracks. I know my program can do ASIO and WDM. But I dont know what inputs are assigned to what numbers. If any body can awnser any one of these questions please post. ASIO sounds great but how do I identify the track numbers to what input and can i input all the tracks from a digital input?Comp info:?Windows

W/ ASIO, you can record from as many sources as you get listed/selected separetley in ASIO input port list (meaning those w/ names like Line-In, S/PDIF-In, Mic-In, Aux-In since, there are many of those ports meant for internal routings (W-U-H)). I don't know if you can use S/PDIF and analog inputs simultaenously. Here are some detailed information for Creative ASIO drivers (for Audigy cards but ...) - http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=profaudio&message.id=726
I think that Fostex is not very usable for you if you don't build a ADAT system over it. If you have the ADAT option in Fostex already available there and you can get 8 separate channels out from Fostex through it then you could get a soundcard which supports ADAT I/O (something like E-MU 22m ($99 atm.)) and record through Fostex into PC (though, A/D conversion quality Fostex does is propably not very good). Maybe you need more mic-preamps to record drums then too.

Likely yes, an NVR could but this isn't something Microsoft Lync is capable of. I think you might be better off looking for third party software and directly asking their presales team.

My interface is an M audio fast track ultra, if that is of any use.

In Audition, assuming that you can see all of the inputs available in the Hardware Setup, you find the right-facing arrow (input assign) on each track in MV's Main view, and you click on the box it's pointing to, go to Mono, and select the input you want for that particular track. The mono ones say [01M], [02M], etc. If you want to record a stereo track, then select the Stereo option where the inputs are paired and say [01S] et seq. This would have input 1 as left, input 2 as right.
If you can't see all of the inputs available, try selecting the ASIO driver in Hardware Setup...
