Multiple clients in SAP SCM /APO/BI

Hello,
1.Is it possible to create Golden master client & Testing client in a single SAP SCM/APO5.1 with BI 7.03 instance and work simultaneously with the BI and APO commands (e.g. RSA1) in both the clients?

We have a requirement at our end as below-
1)We have 2 clients in our APO Developement system and they are using BW functionality of APO
2)These 2 clients need to talk to 2 different client in our ECC System for ex:- APD has 2 clients(100 & 200) and ECC has two clients(101 and 201).
We need APD 100 to talk to ECC client 101 and APD client 200 talking to ECC client 201.
The query is - Is this possible to do the same .
If yes,can anyone guide me with some required documents

Client concept for SAP SCM APO and SAP TM

We are installing SAP SCM APO 5.1 (SNP, gATP, DP) and SAP TM 7.0 (ramp up). Both connect via CIF to ECC 6.0 SP3. As far as my knowledge goes for CIF, both master data and transactional data is exchanged via CIF.
In ECC we have a three client concept:
100 customizing only
200 customizing + master data (golden client)
300 customizing + master data + transaction data
Can we use a similar model for TM and SCM APO as well? Should we then only connect ECC-300 to TM-300 and ECC300 to SCM-300 via CIF?
I have also heard that also some ECC customizing is transferred via CIF to SCM/TM. Is that true and does that change this model?

Rob,
As a general rule of thumb, for each ECC client you will probably want an SCM client. From your landscape description, it is not clear to me in which clients you perform the everyday functions of development/test/production, but I guess you have already worked that out. Without knowing exactly how you manage your environment, I will say that it is probably a good idea to have active CIF connections between each of the three pairs of clients. Once you have set up a single connection between your first pair (ECC/SCM), you will find that setting up the second and third is pretty trivial.
Yes, quite a bit of ATP configuration can be CIFd across. Typically, you do this one time, and then lock the transfer of config out (there is a config setting in SCM to stop further transfer of config). From that point forward, any config that must be parallelled in both systems is usually done manually in both systems. Notable exceptions are Factory Calendars, units of measure, and Fiscal Periods, which can be pulled across from ECC to SCM any time you want via standard program.

Multiple clients in SAP BI possible to create?

Hi,
I already have a SAP BI system on client 150. Is it possible to create a different client for the same system? In R/3 we do the developement and import it through SCC1. If I want similar scenario in BI then is it possible?

Technically, you can have multiple clients. SAP does support it. It has its own limitations though. Refer the below note:
Note 522569 - BW: Working in several clients (especially APO 4.x/SCM 4.x)
But advise is not to do it unless its a testing environment.

Hi Sridhar,
You sure have very good experience in SAP but please let me know if you have any domain experience as well in any Industry. Because WM or EWM is not going to be of any help to you in understanding the business requirements. More over the Modules that are primarily used by the clients are Demand Planning, Supply Network Planning, Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling,
Global Availability to Promise, Transport Planning and Vehicle Scheduling.These are the key modules for which there is a reuiqrement for Consultants.
So I would suggest that instead you should try for BI which has very high requirements in the Market as of now and with your Technical background picking up BI should not be an issue.
This is my personal opinion... Choice is yours

IDES-Scenarios for SAP SCM APO?

Hello!
Lately I have been working with SAP ECC on an IDES system and help.sap.com provides nice example scenarios on how to use it (things like: how to specifiy production plans and orders for building a motor bike in the IDES-Company).
But now working with SAP SCM, and i cannot find any scenarios describing how to use the system with the included training data.
Anybody knows where the examples are or if they exist?

SAP - SCM APO Heuristics

Hello All mates!!!
I am dealing a problem in APO, actually I am a very beginner in this system so I would appreciate be very thankful for any help and tips you could give me :O)
The user is saying that to run the Heuristic there are two planning books called Display 1 and Display 2. In both, the backorders are considered and when executed all the plan goes perfectly, I mean, the calculation is done for all the period that has any forecast plan sales and production.
In the other hand, for one Planning Book called Display 3 the calculation cannot reach all the period that has plan, so in this particular Planning Book the calculation is not done for all the forecast and reach only a few moths ahead instead the whole year that has data as it should do.
Can you help me with this??
I would appreciate any help or tip to solve this problem.

I am very sorry guys about been a little confuse. <b>:O(</b>
I'll try to give as much detail as I have... all your answers is helping and I am very thankful for your all support.
We have 3 Planning Books running for some materials, two of them (Display 1 and 3) runs NOT considering backorder . The other (Display 2) runs considering the backorders.
What we are facing is that when we run the heuristics with the selection profile 1 or 3 it brings the calculation result of the planning for all the year as we have planned.
But If we run the Heuristics with the selection profile 2, which is the one that not consider backorder, although we have plan until December this year the Heuristics calculate only the next four months and a kind of ignore the plan for the rest of the year in the moment that it calculates.
It is not related with the material itself because we put the same material in different selection profiles and when the material was in the selection profile 1 or 3 we could see the results for all the year, in the other hand when we put the same material in the selection profile 2 the calculation for this material didn't consider the months ahead of July, and we have plan for this period.
And we have compared those profiles and we could not see any difference that could be related with this issue. :O(
I don't know if now is clearer what I am asking, but again.... THANKS A LOT!!!!

I'd like to ask for SAP SCM (APO, EWM etc) if its a separate installation like with SAP ECC or it can be added as one of the components for SAP ECC?

SAP SCM Applications are separate installations like SAP ECC or SAP CRM software applications .
Within SAP SCM also there are separate licensing requirements for APO, EWM, EM, SNC applications.
For SAP EWM and EM, SAP ECC add on option is available, however, the licenses for EWM, EM will be seperate than thoseof ECC.

Desinger fom SCM (APO) infocube.

Hi all,
I'm using BOBJ Enterprise 3.1 and Integration kit 3.1.
I tried to extract data from info cube from SAP SCM (APO) and i can't see any data.
Anybody knows if BOBJ can extract from SCM infocube or only from SAP BW? Or maybe an documentation with explanation about how to do this loads...

Hi Sai,
When you are creating CVCs from infocube, please make sure that the input values in the selection screen of the transaction for creating CVCs are correct:
1. Version in the selection screen is existing in infocube. This is the version in the infocube and not in the DP PA.
2. Secondly, date from and to fields need to be correct and matching with the same in the infocube
3. Check if clicking "Number of Hits' on the selection screen , gives you the no. of CVCs which would get created.
Only if you see here number, then program will create CVCs in the DP PA.
Please check and confirm.

Multiple Clients in SCM-APO?

In a Development SCM-APO 5.0 environment, can we have multiple clients? For instance, can we have a unit test client(with master and transactional data), a security client, and a golden configuration client.
We have heard that there may be issues with having more than one client, but we are not sure if this is correct. Our SCM-APO unit test client would be the only one that is connected to a BW (3.5) Development client and a R/3 (4.7) Development client. The security and golden config client would not be connected to external systems. Is this landscape possible and supported by SAP?

I do not have a good answer but it seems APO-DP uses BW as Data Mart which results in some restriction in using multiple client. See SAP Note 522569 for details. Moreover in the Multi-client Whitepaper (attached to SAP Note 31557) the table in page 23 mentions Multi-client Status for APO with DP : Not OK and APO w/o DP : Restricted OK.

When copying clients, you can select what you want to transfer from the source client to the target client:
User masters: You select this option, for example, if you want to give all users of an existing client the same authorizations in the target client.
Client-specific Customizing: You select this option, for example, if you want to set up a new client in an existing system.
Client-specific Customizing and master/transaction data:
You select this option, for example, if you want to set up a test client that is identical to the production client (in the same system).
Client-specific and cross-client Customizing: You select this option, for example, if you want to set up a quality assurance system based on the production client of another system.
Client-specific and cross-client Customizing and master/transaction data: You select this option, for example, if you want to set up a test client based on the production client of another system.

Hi Siva,
For non BI-based applications such as PP/DS you can use multi-client landscape in the same manner as in ERP system.
For DP, SNP etc. see sapnote 522569 (it's relevant for 7.0 as well)

SAP CRM multiple clients possible

We have a NetWeaver SAP CRM system (ABAP + JAVA) stack.
We run an internet webshop application on the JAVA stack connected to CRM ABAP stack, client 010. The CRM ABAP stack connects to SAP ERP.
Q1: Is it possible to add a new client 020 in the ABAP stack of the CRM system?
Q2: I don't understand in CRM the connection between the JAVA and ABAP stack. If I add a new ABAP client 020, do I need to copy the JAVA stack/client also?
Who can help me guiding in which direction I have to go?
Note: We want to connect a non-SAP system to client 020.
Overview:
ERP ABAP (client 010) --> CRM ABAP (client 010) --> CRM JAVA stack
non-SAP (legacy system) --> CRM ABAP (client 020) --> CRM JAVA stack

SCM and CRM Multiple Clients in one system

Dear all,
I want to ask a question regarding Multiple clients in SCM 5 - IDES and CRM 5 -IDES.
I installed the system and plan to have multiple clients in a system with copying client 800 (IDES) to others.
I heard opinion that it can't possibly be done because if during the exercise the Administrator Workbench is executed it will search to the source client (800) and probably affect the exercise.
Would you mind giving me more suggestion about this?

Hi Fausto,
Could you be more specific about what you need to achive?
You can always creat a new client, logon to the client and do a client copy with TCod SCCL.
If you logon to other IDES clients then You'ld overwrite the content of the client which have been pre-configured.
Check the status of the client you need to overwrite from TCod scc4.
Also to verfiy the status of the target client for TCod se06 -system change option.
