Multiple Computer question

hi there
i just bought an iPod Video... 30Gb....
i have a PowerBook G4, and my Bro a WinXp desktop....
i first plugged the iPod to my PB, but i'd like to plug it to my bro's PC to sync some other songs, and also transfer 'big files' using iPod as external driver... (need to transfer 20 Gigs)
I read the Apple Article about 'Multiple Computers' but... is the final answer 'yes' or 'no' ?
They mention something about formating again the entire iPod... but isn't it possible to have the iPod loaded with pictures and music and use it to copy and transfer files and sync iTunes songs just as if it were an external hard disk?
If i am not wrong, what i can understand / interpret from that article is that one cannot do what i have just described without re-formatting.... can i just plug to win and mac back and forth??

Hello guys...
today i plugged my iPod (bought few days ago) to my Mac...
then transferred some pics and songs... just a few to test...
then i plugged it into a WinXP...
i installed the iPod's CD SW before...
then i followed the instructions and then the iPod was on "Do Not Disconnect" for more than 40 minutes...
then this was not yet detected by iTunes...
by the way, right after i installed the SW that came on CD, i followed the instructions on 'registering' i guess, and plugged the iPod according to the instructions... but then it just stayed there... flashing the DND message...
then i opened it on Windows Explorer... nothing....
i clicked the USB eject button, but it told me: 'it is used by another app' so i could not eject it...
my question is:
was this 're-formatting' for FAT 32????
does it take that long? (the PC has usb 2.0 but doesnt have the driver or the SP2 to run it as usb 2.0... )
then i just chose to format the disk, "fast format" mode... it ended... but still "DND" message... so i just shut down the pc...
then when i wanted to turn the iPod on there was this icon: 'folder with exclamation icon'.... and the apple.com/support/ipod link under it... so i went to read the articles... but i still don't know what happened or what was it doing.....
now i am afraid of pluggin it to a pc... i had to plug it into my PB to 'restore the ipod'....
can anyone help me find out what was the PC doing with my ipod, while flashing "DND" message?

Multiple Choice Question Issues

I am embedding a quiz within my presentation with individual
question slides interspersed throughout the presentation. These
questions are pulled from a couple of different question pools. I
want to use a multiple choice question that branches to different
parts of the presentation depending on the correct or incorrect
answer. If the user answers the question incorrectly, I send them
to the next slide which has two click boxes. On this slide, they
can either click one box to move back in the presentation and
review the material or click another box to move them forward to
another multiple choice question. If they go back and review the
information, they would eventually return to the same multiple
choice question to try it again. (This is the desired navigation,
anyway.)
What actually happens is that when the user goes back to
review the information and then finally returns to the question,
the question has not been reset and still shows the incorrect
answer marked with no way to clear it.
I have used this same navigation on a drag-and-drop type
question and it works fine. All the settings for the
multiple-choice questions are set the same as in the drag-and-drop
question.
Any help in making this work correctly would be greatly
appreciated.

I can't see where that error might arise except possibly for a case where an AS2 radio is used since it appears they don't have a group property, but an AS3 radio button does. Check to be sure that your Flash Publish Settings are set to use AS3. AS3 errors normally have error numbers which also makes the error you quoted ring of an AS2 scenario.

Multiple choise question, limit number of options

Hi,
we have a multiple choise question with 10 possible answers. 5 is correct, and 5 is not. How can I limit so the user only can check 5 answers? Right now, the user can check all 10 and get full score.

I am relatively new to Captivate (currently using version 7) and have also been looking at this. I have a programming background so have been mucking around with trying to create this using advanced actions so would appreciate some advice if I've gone about it the right way or not.
I have created 4 answers with clickable smart shapes to show whether they are selected/deselected. I have variables to store the number of allowed answers, number of selected answers and question score (which update with the selecting/deselecting of each answer). To keep things simple, I am assigning 1 point for every correct answer selected and only have 2 correct answers. There are 3 separate 'submit' buttons (one worth 0 points and not included in quiz, one worth 1 point included in quiz and one with 2 points included in quiz). Depending on the answers chosen, the relevant submit button will be made visible (and the others hidden).
What I'm having trouble with is that the points from the submit buttons that are included in the quiz are all contributing to the total points available. I want the question to only be worth 2 points but because I have two buttons (one worth 1 and one worth 2) that means the total points available for the quiz is 3.
Any help on where to go from here much appreciated.

Multiple computer syncing

Is this even posible. I have multiple computer 1 main at the office and two at home (all mac of cause) can i sync on them without deleting what was sync on the other? Just need to know if anyone had success with this issue.

You can sync different content with different computers. For example, you could synch your contacts and calendar with your office computer, and your media (music, videos, etc.) from your home computer.

Creating Multiple Response Questions.....

Hi.
I'm looking at updating a load of Java Applets here at work
accross to Flash.
I'm not looking at using the quiz templates but wondered if
anyone can help me out?
Basically I need to create a multiple response question using
an xml file and was wondering on the best way to achieve this?

If your iTunes library is on an external hard drive, but iTunes is not recognizing the library, first make sure the right library is selected.
You can use these steps to make sure iTunes is opening the library on your external drive:
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you're using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu, choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
If you're using a Mac, open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
You should see one of these screens:
Pick Choose Library and locate the library on your external hard drive.

If the right library is selected, but you do not see your songs, try re-creating the library using the instructions found here:

The reason I am interested in capturing the user answers in Submit All situation is that I know after I published the test using SCORM 2004, all the user responses were captured in "cmi.suspend_data" because my test can resume the test to the last exit question in the middle. However, when I looked at the suspend data value, I have a hard time to understand the pattern and pick out the meaningful user question responses data. I really need help from you to understand how the suspend data value was constructed and how to parse this data. Another area I thought it's easy to get the user question responses data is the interaction records, but I always got only one question (the last randomly sampled question) interaction record. See the following generated XML SCORM 2004 4th edition data. Could you help me figure out how to interpret the following suspend data to get the users responses to each test question? Multiple iPods on one computer question

Hello,
I know this question has been asked already and I've read all the help topics about multiple iPods.
I've tried twice to use two iPods on one computer and it was not as easy as described. I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong.
The first time I tried was on a PC running XP with two iPod minis. I had seperate user accounts and it kept erasing all the songs in one account.
The other situation was on a different PC running XP Pro with a shuffle and a 30gig photo.
I had my 30gig for about a year and as soon as I plugged in my shuffle it didn't recognize it and the next time I plugged in my 30 gig photo it froze and I had to end up doing the hard reset for it.
Tomorrow I am about to try a PC running XP with a shuffle, nano, and a video iPod.
I've read the two ways to do it and am going to try the specific playlist option.
I'm worried that as soon as I plug in the second iPod it will freeze and I won't be able to even get to the "iPod Option" Button in iTunes.
The computer is not mine nor are the music devices. I'm doing it for a friend who doesn't understand computers that well. All devices are new, never used.
Is it as easy as the process sounds?
Also the last time I tried multiple iPods was at least two iTunes updates ago.

Let me explain this in detail for you:
The Do Not Disconnect screen
It is normal for your iPod to say this message to you when you connect it to your computer.
When you need to disconnect it from your computer, you'll first need to eject it.
There are a few ways to eject your iPod; through iTunes, the Safely Remove Hardware program, and "My Computer".
Through iTunes
Ejecting your iPod via iTunes depends on what setting your iPod is on for.
Connect your iPod. Go into Edit> preferences> iPod. See what setting your iPod is on; "automatic" or "manual".
Automatic
If you aren't restoring, or updating your iPod, iTunes should automatically eject your iPod from iTunes. If it doesn't, then right-click the name of your iPod in iTunes, and make sure that the "enable for disk use" is un-checked.
Manual
If you need to eject your iPod from iTunes if the setting is "manual", click the little arrow that's next to the name of your iPod in the left source list in iTunes.
Through the "Safely Remove Hardware" program
Look at the bottom-right corner of your screen, and there's the system tray icons there. If the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon is there, click on it, select your iPod, and click "stop".
Through "My Computer"
Go to "My Computer".
Find your iPod's listing there (it's typically "E:" or "F:").
Right-click it, click on "eject".

A question about multiple computer syncing

Hey i'm getting an iphone soon, and here's my situation.
I have an apple ibook, and an imac G5, which both have data and information (songs, videos, contacts, etc.) that i'd like on my iphone. The itunes running on both computers use the same itunes account, with the same password and user name and everything. So my question is, could i register the iphone on the iMac G5, get the songs on it from that computer, then go and plug it in to the apple iBook and sync the songs from that computer?

These observations are from my own personal experience syncing my iPhone between an iMac G5 and a Dell Windows XP system...
- iMac G5 was the original activation computer and it's iTunes library became the "master" library
- when connected to Dell, acts like any other iPod that is not synced with the computer - you can see songs but cannot copy them
- there is no "file system" mode to the iPhone, unlike iPod, so there is no way to move files around
- syncing contacts and calendar events between the iMac (iCal and Address Book) and the Dell (Outlook 2007) was painless.
- iPhone does not appear to support multiple categories of calendar entries (e.g. "work" and "home")
- iPhone DOES work with Exchange Server as long as exchange has IMAP turned on
- iPhone DOES support multiple email accounts (I have three on mine and they work great)

Multiple iPods, One Computer - Question

I currently have a Classic 160GB and I'm looking into getting a Nano or iTouch soon. I have the ability to use more than one computer or more than one account to sync them both that way, but I was wondering about a different method not mentioned in this [article|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300432].
If my Classic 160GB is set to sync automatically when it is hooked up, syncing all checked items, as it does now; And then I set a new iTouch to let me manage it manually, can't I use the same library file and not worry about iTunes making multiple copies of things when it 'manages my music folders'?
It seems to me this would be an ideal solution if possible, because managing 8-32GB of space which will most likely be mostly videos, is not a hard thing. If I can have one iPod "manually managed" and one "automatically managed" by the same iTunes on the same computer, please let me know!
And if so, Apple should add that as a fourth method in that article.

iTunes will recognize each iPod as unique. You can manage each one differently, as you wish.
I would suggest you consider "Sync selected playlists" for your Touch. I find that you get all the benefits of syncing (playcounts, ratings and last played get synced) with most of the control for manually managing your music. It can be as simple as setting up a smart playlist that limits the amount of music to a size the Touch can handle to more complex, multiple playlists set ups. I have a playlist that selects 1000 songs, a few special playlists and then playlists of recently purchased albums (no, Chris, I don't make a playlist for every album). I also have a playlist for video. I find this is much less work than manually managing. But, to each their own.
