Multiple computer slowing my connection down?
I'm using a Linksys E1500 on my Timewarner 20Mbs connection and I've noticed that anytime another computer on my network connects my connection speed take a significant drop. This happens when Macs or PCs connect and there doesn't seem to be any common ground between any of them. In addition the connection is slow wether the other PCs are idle or downloading anything, it seems to make no difference. my ping in any game drops from 70 to 500 just for 2 other PC being on at the saem time on the network.
When mine is the only one on I get the full 20Mbs speed and notice no problems at all. What could be the issue here? Did I possibly configure something wrong? Or do I need a new router?

Is this issue only happening on the wireless devices? Test if the wired connection drops when you have wireless devices connected to your network. Are you running the latest firmware on your E1500? The problem is most likely firmware related. Get the latest version from the E1500 Support Page.

I had the same problem. My solution was to reset the SMC on my 2010 Macbook Pro and now my internet speed is back to normal.
To reset the SMC, shut down the computer completely. Then hold SHIFT+CONTROL+OPTION on the left hand side of the keyboard AND the Power key for at least 2 seconds. Release all the keys, then repower the laptop normally using the power key.

Imaging Multiple Computer - Slow Boot File Transfer
When imaging say 15 computers, the SCCM 2012 boot file transfer is slow. Is this normal or some setting that needs to be set to fix this? Thanks.

Or you can try to use multicast to speed up many machines. I'm pretty sure it only applies to OS and not the boot image.

I have Windows XP and Adobe Reader XI. My printer is a Ricoh Aficio 240W.
My computer normally lacks internet access. I briefly connected it to the internet to install the full version of Avast Antivirus, then disconnected it from the internet again, and it has been disconnected from the internet since.
After I installed Avast the computer began acting screwy when I printed PDF files. I uninstalled Avast but the screwiness continues.
The image in the upper left corner was taken after doing one printing of a PDF file. I'm pretty confident AcroRd32.exe. is Adobe Reader. Notice that after running one print Adobe Reader is using about 50 CPU's.
The image to the right of that was taken after doing two printings of a PDF file. Notice that after running two prints there are two AcroRd32.exe processes using 50 CPU's.
The image below the other two was taken after doing three or four printings of a PDF file. Notice that after three printings one AcroRd32.exe process is using 50 CPU's and two others are using about 25. After about three printings my computer slows down dramatically, and it keeps getting slower the more prints I do.
When I restart the computer it reverts back to normal. Can anyone think of a better solution to this problem of increasing slowness than restarting the computer every two PDF prints?
My computer currently has no virus protection, although Windows Firewall is up. Someone at Avast I briefly mentioned this too thinks this should not happen and he was wondering if the computer has some sort of virus...but before I removed Avast it told nothing about viruses that I know of. I honestly do not know if anyone scanned the computer with Avast before removing Avast, but I suspect it was scanned before the removal of Avast. I suppose this could be the result of some virus...but then the computer behaves quite normally, except when I print PDFs. I'm wondering if Avast changed some settings in my printer program or Adobe programs....
I have CCleaner. Every time I analyze my computer to look for stuff to remove to speed up the computer it shows Internet Explorer history files, and sometimes Internet Explorer temporary internet files despite not being online. If I click on Internet Explorer to go onto the internet, I am told I am working offline.

The layout changed when I posted. Therefore, what I mean by the image in the upper left corner is the image at the top. What I mean by the image to the right of that is the image in the middle of the other two. What I mean by the image below the other two is, of course, the image at the bottom. -
Dhclient, and computer slow down [RESOLVED]
When i type sudo dhclient eth2 (my wifi connection) it works fine, but the computer slow down, i tried to disable ipv6, putting ipvs into blacklistmod (rc.conf) but is the same....Anyone can help me ??

[Solved]Computer slow down and freeze during data transfer syncing
Hello,
Everytime I make a data transfer, my computer slow down, and sometimes freeze during a few seconds, work for a fraction of seconds and freeze again. I don"t understand why.
As an example, here is a bench of files i transfered during a syncing with Grsync
It took about 12h to sync 64Gb.
I've read a lot of topics talking about this problem but nothing works. I tried to switch off the SWAP and setting the vm.dirty_ratio and vm.background_dirty_ratio but nothing works.
I'm making the trasfer between two Western Digital USB 2.0 external hard drive in NTFS.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Use your Activity Monitor, sort the %CPU column to identify what process is hogging your resources.

I just downloaded 10.9.2. Now I have multiple color wheels. Computer slow. Can I switch back to previous software.
It's easy to revert back if you have a backup of your system.
If not, the doing is much more complicated and tedious.

If it's showing the disabled screen then you will need to connect it to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808

If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. -

Mac shows wireless internet connection, but Safari says "computer isn't connected to the Internet"
Situation:
Computer shows internet connection (full bars), but won't actually connect to the internet and load webpages
Attempted Fixes:
Reset Safari
Quit Safari
Restart the computer
Turn off the computer with router unplugged
Turn off Airport
Swear at the computer
Swear at the internet
Unplug the router and turn the Airport off too
Additional Info:
Second computer (mac) connects to the internet so it's not an internet problem.
Last few days the internet has been slowly dying on the computer (Mac OS X) in question. Meaning that the internet asks me for the router password constantly, which was a new development.
I have seen information about reseting Plists and a few other weird things, but I didn't want to do anything drastic based on someone elses issue. I figured it's best to bring my specific issue to the forum before destroying my Mac by randomly deleting Plists.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Which os version are you using?
First contact your ISP. You need to confirm that the issue is not on their end.
Change your router channel. Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router. Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.
System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
Unlock the padlock
Locations: Automatic
Highlight Airport
Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock. Highlight Airport. Network Name-select your name. Click on the Advanced button. Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock. Restart your computer.

No internet connection (wireless)
Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
Delete all extra entries that you find.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."

Firefox has been running extraordinarily slow. Pages takes sometimes minutes (really) to download/resolve; clicking on links on a page takes many seconds, up to a minute, to register, then the click takes more time to resolve. Autoreloading pages take many minutes to resolve. While all this is going on, the computer slows down, and typing will slow to an almost halt. Characters take many seconds to show up, selected text takes many seconds to register, etc. This is a new computer, 12G of RAM, lots of hard drive. My bf is currently sharing this computer and uses IE. I'm now filling in this form on IE because FF was so painfully slow. And, btw, I don't have a large number of tabs open. About 15 right now.
I took one suggestion from a FF support page and revised my upon-opening to restore all last pages/tabs. I then closed and reopened FF. It is better, but IE has been open at least as long, has many, many more tabs open, and is using a ridiculous amount of memory per tab/groups of tabs, and it is lightning fast. I used to use IE, switched to FF about 2 years ago when IE became too unstable...but I am very seriously considering switching back to IE if FF continues to slow down so drastically and so quickly. And continues to crash without warning. Please don't suggest opening in safe mode....not going to happen. Apparently, from what I can read on your site and other places, FF has become another bloated program that becomes useless after a short time - many, many complaints of very slow loading, etc. Can you please fix this, please.It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I have a brand new Toshiba L750D laptop with an A8 AMD processor running Windows 7 64 bit. I have been setting it up over a number of nights and everything had been working fine until I installed itunes 64 bit. After I installed it, the whole computer slowed right down, so much so that it is impossible to use. It takes minutes to open anything if it opens at all. I have noticed that if I switched my network off, the laptop would run ok, but when I switched it back on to connect to the internet, it would slow right down again. Shutting down is also a problem as I seem to have to power off to switch it off, it is too slow to get to the shut down button if you can get to it at all.
I have tried switching bonjour and the other apple products that are in the startup services off and the laptop then seems to work ok. The problem then is that itunes wont run as I get a message saying it is not installed properly. Would anybody be able to help me so I can get my new laptop working properly with itunes installed? Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
