Multiple contact sheet from multiple image folders

Hi everybody,
I have a folder with 120 subfoders with 30 images each,
is there a "automatic way" to make a  contact sheet of every subfolder: 120 contact sheet of 30 images in this case?
i need help

Hi GKaiseril, thanks for reply.
Yes, I use Bridge to do that, but I need to automate the process.
Know a script with which you can select a folder and make a contact sheet different for each subfolder containing? Preferably for Bridge or Photoshop.
Best regards.

  • Contact Sheets from Multiple Folders: Can it be done?

CS3 Photoshop had a function under Automate, that allowed you to make contact sheets of images within a specific folder and include subfolders within that.
Im not seeing that in CS4.
Im not seeing it in Bridge CS4 either.
    Is it still possible?
    And how if it is?

This was discussed in a thread just a few threads down from yours:

  • Printing a contact sheet from multiple saved pdf drawings

How can I print a gridded contact sheet of several drawings I have saved as PDF's?  They are all in separate files but I need to present on one sheet of paper.  Seems like this would be easy but I can't figure it out.....

I would post to the Photoshop Elements Forum, as it has several features that are either not in Photoshop, or work differently. Folk in that forum will know exactly what you will need to do.

  • Creating Contact Sheets by selecting images in sub-folders

I'm new to scripting, so not sure whether this is within the realms of possiblity, but hope that there's an expert out there up to the challenge!
My goal is to develop a script to automate the process of creating contact sheets for each pupil of a school photoshoot.  The folder structure being used presently is:
1st level folder:     School name (e.g. "Southbridge School")
2nd level folders:     Class teachers name (e.g. "Smith")
In each 2nd level folder (i.e. representing each class) there are always 3 images per child (post processed, so ready to convert to contact sheets).  The image numbers run sequentially, so the first 3 image numbers in the folder are of the 1st child, the next 3 are of the 2nd child, and so on....
The script I'm looking for would allow me to point Photoshop to the 1st level folder and then automatically create a contact sheet for all children 'found' in the sub-folders.  To do this the script would need to do the following:
Taking each 2nd level folder in turn, recognise each 'child' is represented by 3 consecutive images - and starting with the 1st 3 images in the folder create a contact sheet.  Then, move on to the next 3 images in sequence and create the next contact sheet, and finish after it completes the final 3 images in the folder.  Then, move on to the next 2nd level folder...
Create each contact sheet with the 3 images in colour and then the same 3 images in black and white (so 6 images per contact sheet), including the image number under each and a copyright watermark
Save all contact sheets generated from all of the classes all together in 1 new folder at the 2nd level called "Contact Sheets"
Give each contact sheet a unique name in the format "<Class teachers name> - xxx"   (e.g. "Smith-1", "Smith-2" etc...)
So, are there any Photoshop masters out there up to this challenge?!  Your help would be greatly appreciated because the learning curve on this one looks v. steep!
Alternatively, if you can think of a better way of doing this I would also be keen to hear!
    Thanks

Awesome! I didnt even know aperture could do that
Now another quick question on this topic, if im using RAW files, does aperture need to convert the file to jpeg or tiff (like it does if you export version as jpeg)?
If it does, that may be a problem as it takes forever for aperture on my macbook to convert raws and save as jpegs, like a good minute or two per photo, and if i have 200odd photos....not good, people will crack it waiting and leave.
Or does it print as raw? Cause im pretty sure my printer (or any printer) can not print raw files. Will try it tonight on my printer but a heads up will be useful.
I could just shoot in hi-res jpeg, but id rather shoot raw incase they want a large poster size print etc.
    Thanks.

  • Can Bridge output a contact sheet from nested folders?

Can Bridge create a contact sheet of all images I have in a series of nested folders? Seems like there's a simple option missing to 'include all subfolders' option so I can maintain my folder structure for my file organization, but be able to get a grid of thumbnails of everything together... or consequently be able to create a contact sheet folder by folder automagically where each folder represents a new page in the pdf, allowing the option to insert the folder name as part of the header....
anyone have suggestions? Am I missing something here....?

or consequently be able to create a contact sheet folder by folder automagically where each folder represents a new page in the pdf, allowing the option to insert the folder name as part of the header....
Each folder a new page can only be done manual or maybe if you could use ore write a very complicated script for this. You have to specify the columns and rows and therefore the amount of photo's on one sheet.
As Curt pointed you already to the 'flat view' option this is to get all content of one main folder (but according to content amount and Output settings this may mean a lot of pages...
    You have two other options:
1- Select each folder and create a contact sheet while giving it a proper name. When finished combine all the PDF files in to one large PDF file. You can do so in Acrobat Pro but if you Google on 'merge PDF in one File' there will be a lot of other free options to do so.
2- Use a proper batch rename for the files to make each name unique. If you already have done so you could choose to add a number in front of the name to keep the natural sort order in the folder. You can use Batch rename for this under the menu tool and choose the option you like. Be aware that this renaming can't be undone in an easy way so if you want it just for this occasion first make a back up and then rename the files.

  • Printing contact sheet from iPhoto

How can I print a contact sheet from iPhoto that retains the order of photos in my album?
I've placed the photos of which I want to make a contact sheet in their own album.  I've organized them according to how I'd like them to print.  However, when I go to print/contact sheet/custom to set the number of images per page and hit the print button, the photos are reorganized according the the main photo folder into which the images were originally imported - that is to say, by date order.

My printer does support landscape and portrait printing. It is the latest version of iPhoto 9.5.3 that only offers a minimal choice of printer, paper size and paper type. There are no formatting options available other than "Fit, Fill, Custom, 20x25cm, 13x18cm, 10x15cm and contact sheet". Another example of Appple degrading software to make it iOS compatible!
Perhaps Apple should be reading what their customers are complaining about and do something to restore the quality of their downgraded software.

I had been making contact sheet from the bridge using CS3 with no problem till a week ago when after completing the contact sheet, I get an error message saying that there was a program error, and photoshop locks up. • Unable to print Contact Sheets from iPhoto

    Hi there,
Since installing Lion 10.7.5 on my Mac Pro I no longer get the option to print Contact Sheets from iPhoto. I'm running quite an old version of it I think (Version 6.0.6), however this was no problem before the upgrade.
Can anyone suggest a solution for this?
    Thanks in advance.

I just fired up my iPhoto 6.0.6 under Mt. Lion and I have no contact option in that version either.  You'll have to upgrade to at least iPhoto 7 (08) in order to get contact sheets back.  So you might as well upgrade to the latest iPhoto from the App Store.
If you also want the latest versions of iWeb and iDVD (which have been discontinued by Apple) you'll have to purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disc from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: iLife 11.

  • Can I print contact sheets from Iphoto or aperture with file names?

I can not figure out nor am I sure it can be done with these programs but if someone out there can tell me how I would be very happy. I have several jobs I need contacts on I have been printing contact sheets and then handwriting the file numbers. To old fashion for me. HELP

    1. In the browser pane in Aperture, select the images you need.
    2. File>Print...
    3. On the left-hand side of the print dialog, click on 'Sample Contact Sheet Preset'.
    4. In the layout options there is a drop-down menu for which metadata set you want to show below the images. You may get away with using 'Name Only' which gives you the current Version Name, otherwise you may have to make a new metadata set* containing just the filename.

  • Customized contact sheets from manual sorted iPhoto 7.0.2 albums.

I manually sorted photos in my iPhoto '08 album and want to print contact sheets showing the photos in this sorted order. Everything is working fine choosing the preselected contact sheet with 3 rows and 4 lines i. e. 12 pictures on each page. But when trying to customize the preselected contact sheet (for I want 4 rows and 5 lines) the manual sorting is gone and instead the pictures are sorted otherwise (by name I guess). Does anyone has any idea to solve the problem?
(I use Tiger 10.4.10, Mac Pro QuadCore, iPhoto 7.0.2)

    Gunther:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Have you tried dragging the photos in the contact sheet customize window to arrange them as you want? It works that way for me.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Create contact sheet from multi-page PDF

I have a multi-page PDF (A brochure with 1 image on each page). I would like to create a contact sheet of the pages. Can I?

I would like to create a contact sheet of the pages. Can I?
Bridge Output Module creates a multipage PDF with options to choose on size, orientation and amount of files per page but can't read all pages separately, it only uses the first page of a PDF.
You can however extract the pages in PS itself. Open the PDF file using right mouse click in Bridge and choose Open With; Photoshop.
Then you will see an option window with small thumbs of each pages. Select all the thumbs and set the options as you wish. Then hit Open and you have all the pages as separate files. Use Save as (or create an action to batch save the files if it are many) and then open the folder with the new files in Bridge. Now you can use the option for more files per page in the Output Module.
Or use the Contactsheet II script that has returned in CS6 and choose to use the open files.

  • Can I print a contact sheet from Bridge?

Does anyone know how I print a contact sheeet in Bridge?

You can't use Bridge for printing at all, it has no option for it. You can create a PDF contact sheet in Bridge using the Output Module (separate download in Bridge CC) but this PDF needs to be opened in another application like Acrobat, Pro, Acrobat Reader or other that can manage PDF to give a print command.

  • Contact sheets - order of images

Running Windows XP, and Photoshop Elements 2.0 - I have a folder with about 125 pictures and would like to make a series of contact sheets. I want them in a particular order and have given them consecutive numbers in front of the titles to keep them in order in the folder. Problem is when creating the contact sheet it seems to select them and place them on the sheet in random order. Is there a way I can ensure the order remains the way I want it? Thanks for any help I can get!
    Joyce

    Joyce,
Could you check one thing, please. I'm wondering if your numbering scheme may be causing a problem.
By chance are you seeing a pattern of 1FN,10FN,11FN...2FN,20FN with FN being File Name. Sometimes when used in front of file names, a PC will read the values as chararcters instead of numbers.
If the pattern is truly random 1FN,9FN,3FN then post back and we'll see how to fix this.
