Multiple Contacts into a group?

I would like to create a "group" contact of 9 members who are also individual contacts in the iphone. I want to be able to just click one entry in the contact list to send text messages to. Any ideas on how to do this? I tried to just add all of the individual phone numbers, but then when I want to sent a text, I still need to enter each number from that "group" contact.

Once you have sent the first SMS to a group of people, it will remain in your message list as a sent message
To send another one to the same group you just select that group again and type your message.
It will go to the same group of numbers
In summary, you select the group from the SMS app, not the Contacts app

  • Import multiple contacts into a group from an email message

I have received an email from which I wish to import the additional contacts into my address book.
I used to be able to drag/drop them into my address book all at once, but can't any more.
I have also tried drag/drop into a Numbers file to try to convert to a csv and then import, but it copied all the addresses into a single field and I couldn't get them to separate.
UGH.  How can I import multiple contacts into a group in my address book from an email message?

That is a few too many to do one at a time.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

    Morning jpuralil,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you're having issues with Contacts on your iPhone, once you've completed General Troubleshooting, skip to the iOS section.
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Contacts
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3998
To sync contacts with your computer, choose "Sync Contacts with" within iTunes for Windows, or "Sync Address Book Contacts" on your Mac.
For more information on this, take a look at this article:
    iCloud: Add a new contact
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2659?viewlocale=en_US
    Create a new contact
In Contacts, click the Add button at the bottom of a list of contacts.A blank contact card appears.
Type information for the contact, and add a photo if you want.
    Click Done.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • HT1386 Since iTunes upgrade, sync no longer puts my contacts into my groups

Since my recent ITunes upgrade, IPhone sync no longer puts my contacts into my groups, even though I use the checked off groups option. The groups show up but do not contain any contacts.
I even deleted all the contacts on my IPhone and started out fresh and resynced. Nada.

Well, I can see a potential problem with that, although you must have made it work before.
I had a set up on a Windows computer like that, but the iTunes accounts couldn't communicate or share content.  We consolidated, after much fuss, to one Library, one location.
This may be why your daughter has problems connecting to the iTunes store.  The "server" is serving 2 accounts.
I am sure it is why the books didn't sync and can't be found on her iTunes account.  If you look on her iTunes on the computer, are the book titles pale gray?  is there an ! point on them?   This means that while the computer knows they were there, they can't connect with the actual content.   After all they can't be in two places at once.   iTunes can sometimes offer to "rebuild the path" to lost files, I don't know it that would work here.
As for why they come and go from your device, I can only guess it is because they are not iTunes purchases.  Just like my PDFs, iTunes tolerates them, but really doesn't know what they are, or what to do with them, so it does nothing. (unless you make it!)  Not that iTunes treated the iBooks I did get from iTunes any better.
As I posted above, the only way I could get it to work was to delete stuff, which seemed to shock iBooks into syncing the books and PDFs.  Maybe, finish the book you are reading, delete all then add new books?  (Sorry,it's all I got)
If you are going to share content, one iTunes Library, but separate Apple IDs would work better.  But that is up to you (I'm also a parent, I get it)  I share with my 2 sons.
You mentioned a Kindle.  I have one.  Never use it, but it is an older one.  The paperwhite seems like a good idea.  It is absolutely impossible to transfer PDFs to the kindle in a print size big enough to read unless it's
24 pt type going in.  Didn't work for me, might work for you.

You can't with the Mail app on the iPad. There are third party apps that give this functionality. Look at MailShot and Group Email with Attachments in the App Store.

I can't use iCloud because my computer is running 10.6.8 and can't go to 10.7 (older machine). Otherwise this wouldn't be a problem. I have individual contacts and I have contact groups, both on my iPhone. I want to do some housecleaning and put individual contacts into specific groups. I can't figure out HOW to do this. Can't do it on the iPhone, can't access iCloud Contacts. Do I use the Mac Address Book? I can't figure out how to sync that with my iPhone either.
    Thanks!

  • I am unable to drag contacts into contact group

This only happens on my wife's Macbook pro which is running Maverick. It won't allow her to drag a contact into a group. Initially it worked if you did one, then quit/re-open contacts. But that doesn't work either now.
I have never come across this before. Anyone else?

  • Have issues with Contact locking up while dragging contact into Group

After creating a new Group in iCloud-Contacts, while dragging and dropping new contacts into the group, the browser locks up each time I try to drag a new contact into the group.
    Browser:  Firefox 10.0.1

I am also having a similar problem with my 13 " macbook pro purchased in Aug 2011. I took the same to
m/s Unicorn Infosolutions Pvt Ltd , Mumbai ( authorised service centre for apple). They first checked it and said that it was a hardware problem and I will have to keep the MBP with them till they get the replacement part from Bangalore and the repair would be free of cost since it was under warranty. So far so good. Then late in the evening , they called me up to inform that there was liquid found inside and the mother board would have to be repaced and the same would cost Rs 64,000/- which is slightly less than the cost of a new mbp.
Unable to understand the formation of liquid since the time they checked up in the morning and their discovery in the late evening.
They probably had a change of heart regarding replacement of the part under warranty.
Apple should take serious action against such firms which indulge in such unscrupulous activities.
Now I am left high and dry since apart from scrapping my new MBP, my data is also lost.
Hope Apple can come out with a solution for this problem and replace/rectify the machine.

  • New iPhone contact into specific MobileMe addressbook group?

    Hello,
I want to add a new contact, on the iPhone, directly into a specific group. It works at the moment by setting the sync via iTunes (which defaults any new iPhone contact into the group we want.
Can it be set to do the same with MobileMe?
    Thanks
(I'm not sure if we'll just use iTunes or go via MobileMe... it's easy enough to plug in the iPhone, just seems more convenient via MobileMe)

On the Mac I just created a group in the Address book. It automatically syncs to the iPhone and to MobileMe. Sorry, I don't know if Windows' Outlook syncs a contact group to the iPhone (or to MobileMe).
It's a pity there's no FAQ discussing the limitations of syncing, and the differences between syncing via iTunes and syncing via MobileMe.

  • How to email multiple contacts with mail in yosemite (holding down the shift key no longer works)?

Does anyone know if it is possible to select multiple contact email addresses simultaneously from the contact list in Yosemite in a similar fashion to what we used to do (hold down the shift key)?  I have tried all the key combinations I can think of and none of them work. The "smart" address is a pain to use (to me at least) and I would have to make so many groups up to do what I use to do with just a few key strokes that I am really frustrated. Thanks for any help.

    Electron Mover,
You can still open the stand alone Contacts App located in your applications folder and then drag and drop your contacts into the "To" field and it will add them. Also As you said.
If you want to select multiple people in the Contacts App,  you can ( Command ) ( Click ) them and then drag and drop them into the "To" field.
You can also place all the contacts into a group in the Contacts App. Then either drag and drop the group name from The Contacts App to the "To" field in Mail or you can start to type out the group name in the "To" field in Mail and from the pop down list select the group name and it will add all the contacts from that group.
If you are willing I encourage you to send them feedback here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html or https://www.apple.com/feedback/mail.html they won't respond but at least they will know your opinion.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston
