  • Disabling pdf Compression in Oracle 9iAS Reports

    I need to disable Oracle 9iAS Reports pdf compression which is
    automatically turned on while running a report. I need to
    disable the pdf compression for some internal benchmarking . I
    read that it can be turned off or varied with command line
    options. Any idea how it can be done.
    Also any further info on Reports pdf compression or docs will be
    helpful.
    Thanks in advance,

    There is no PDF compression with Reports 6.0.8 and iAS 1.0.2
    This is a new feature of the upcoming product release iAS V2
    Reports 9i which will use PDF 1.4

    Thanks, The problem seem to persist in the opmn.log.
    The logs say that there is a problem with the Connection. Particularly
    01/21/03 07:27:09 Connection 1,206.101.32.36,6201
    connect (errno=111)
    Another error we are seeing is 6201
    There is something about the DISPLAY variable being set in the configuration files. We made sure it was set according to the document note you have mentioned. After testing, the problem seem to persit.
    02/10/01 07:27:09 Connection 1,206.101.32.36,6201 connect (errno=146). Document ID 283586.995 on Metalink mention some thing similar.

  • Oracle 9ias Reports within Portal

    We have published several Oracle Reports to Portal by configuring Reports 9ias Reports Services and then by registering the Reports Server and Reports Definition Files within portal, this works as expected.
    However, several of our Oracle reports point to another oracle database server, when these are run from within portal an exception is raised (REP-1202: ORACLE logon not specified). I can only assume that this is because the Oracle Reports run from within Portal are unable to connect to the external data source. Our existing portal reports connect work OK using a db link. Does anybody know a way to overcome this problem? We were thinking about Single Sign On or do we have to modify the portal PL-SQL package to provide a connection string for each Oracle Report?
    Cheers
    Dan

    How did you try to connect to the remote DB?
    Create a TNS entry on the node where your reports server runs, and specify it in the "userid" parameter: scott/tiger@myRemoteDB.

  • Oracle 9iAS Reports

    We have Oracle 9iAS running in a Unix environment. The software has been installed as the Oracle user and also gets started as the Oracle user. When running reports and creating PDF output, the files created take on the Oracle user and DBA group permissions.
    Does anybody know if it is possible to configure the user and group permissions taken on by files that are created by Oracle reports?
    Cheers,
    Terry

    Hi Adarsh,
    In windows 2000 services panel, go to the reports service startup page and set the log on as "Administrator" and give the password of it and restart the service.. It should work properly..

  • Printing a Oracle PDF Report from within a Oracle Form on Linux

    Is there a command I can use in Oracle Forms to invoke a shell script to open a PDF output report stored on a physical location on the Linux server and print it to the printer?
    What I'm currently trying to do is send a Report called within Oracle Forms 10g to "DESTYPE=FILE DESFORMAT=PDF DESNAME=directory/filename.pdf". I'm storing all the information about the file and printer information prior to it being run with the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT. What I want to happen is as soon as it finishes generating the file, I want (behind the scenes) is it to locate the file, open, and print it automatically, but never show the output to the user on the screen.
    I know with the "DESTYPE=cache DESNAME=filename DESFORMAT=PDF" that it puts the info in the Reports Server / Cache directory, but also opens it in a separate browser window of which you can select the printer at that point. I don't want to do that in this option.
    I previously tried to use the "DESTYPE=printer" option but, the issue with it has to deal with fonts. I do not want to store fonts on every printer, given the different types of printers our users have. I can print to the printer but the fonts are all messed up so, not an option.
    So, basically I'm trying to replace that option with generating to a PDF, then I don't have to worry about fonts, since I have them all working, then I can just open the PDF file on the server and send to the printer. I was wondering if that is an option available in Oracle Forms when calling reports. I figured that when someone sends the option of "DESTYPE=printer" that it must be calling some shell script on Linux that handles this. I'm just not seeing it.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Chris

    Ok, one final question because I want to see how far this can go.
    Can I issue this command via the HOST inside the form? Basically I'm telling it to open and send the file to the printer. The vFileName is the directory/filename stored on the Linux Server. I can execute this command on the command line of Linux and it works
    HOST( 'lpr -P gt-ybs-ps /u11/app/as10g/tools/web/html/pc_rp00120100210035258.pdf');
    I promise this is my last quesion.

  • Printing run form in Oracle 9iAS.

    How to print run form in browser by using oracle 9iAS.In forms 6i we can simply write print; on when button pressed trigger.But same code does not work in oracle9iAS.Print is a button in my button pallet.

    Hi,
    the print command works on the Web the same as in client/ server,or shall I say it is supposed to work the same? The problem is that from the Forms Java client we call the Browser's print capability which breaks once in a while with different Browser versions (most often it is Netscape that breaks this feature). The most solid print functionality therefore is not to use "print" but Oracle Reports on the Web for all print outs.

    DBI do not think it is possible -- Please confirm with your printer vendor if your printer support PDF printing first.

  • How to select the Printer in Oracle Reports 6i R2 (Windows 7)

    Hi,
    In a client site they have more than one printer suppose one is dot matrix and other one is laser printer or some other brands.
    They take printouts in both. Recently I installed Oracle Forms & Reports 6i R2 Runtimes in some Windows 7 32 bit PCs. In those PCs, its not allow to choose the printer, it print with windows default printer.
    So Is there any way to give an option to select the printer...??
    Thank You.

    Client/Server version:
    - D2KWUTIL.PLL library provides a 'Select Printer' dialog box to be used in Forms: WIN_API_DIALOG.SELECT_PRINTER
    http://guenter-huerkamp.dyndns.org/oracle-doc/docs/html/d2kwutil.html
    I suggest you to create a form to invoke the report, allowing user to select the printer and then pass it as parameter DESNAME

  • Where to keep .rdf file in Oracle 9iAS to generate Report ?

    Hello friends,
    We r using Oracle 9iAS and want to generate the Report but do not know the exact folder(or can say path) to keep .rdf file ?
    Generally, we keep .rdf file in Orahome/Reports/Samples/Demo/x.rdf but it doesn't work in case of Oracle 9iAS.
    If you have any solutions regarding it, please reply.
    Thanks

    1) You can keep it anywhere and give full path name in cmd line
    report=<full_path_name>\report_name.rdf
    OR
    2) Add the required dir to REPORTS_PATH
    Windows - registry variable
    HKLM\software\oracle\home<x>\
    Unix - env variable
    and give
    report=report_name.rdf
    Thanks

  • Printing Oracle 10g Reports in Line Matrix Printers

    Hello!
    I encountered problem when printing a generated report in Oracle 10g Reports to a Line Printer. When the report is in PDF format, the fonts when printed on line printers become scattered and the orientation of the report rotates 90 degrees. If I use HTMLCSS format, the pages are not of fixed size. Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Setup CUPS Printing Environment in Linux / Unix (on many modern Linux systems, CUPS is the default Printing System at the moment). The details of setup / build of CUPS is beyond the scope of this article. For details, please visit CUPS sites and documentation :
    http://www.cups.org
    http://www.cups.org/doc-1.1/sam.html
    The setup of CUPS is complete for our purposes, once you are able to print PDF documents directly from unix shell as follows :
    $ PRINTER=yourprinter
    $ export PRINTER
    $ lp test.pdf
    OR
    $ lpr test.pdf
    * The "yourprinter" above should be substituted with the name of your printer queue defined in CUPS and "test.pdf" is any pdf document available on this server.
    2. In reports.sh, set the following parameter and restart the Report Server:
    REPORTS_CUPS_PRINTING=YES; export REPORTS_CUPS_PRINTING
    3. Setup PDF functionality (including Font Subsetting / Embedding etc) to display the output as required in PDF format. To check this, run the report with the option "...destype=cache&desformat=PDF...".
    4. Run the report with parameters "...&desformat=PDF&destype=printer&desname=yourprinter&...."
    This way, Reports Server generates a PDF file in cache and sends it to CUPS printer queue, ie the "desformat=pdf" option is no longer ignored with "destype=printer".

  • Create and configure reports server in Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 on solaris 10

    Hi All,
    I have installed Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2 on Solaris 10. I want to create and configure a new reports server.
    Please help as I can't see anything on metalink.
    Thanks/Regards
    Dirish

    In fact when installing 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2, the default report server name looks like this REP60_TEST.INTNET.MU.
    My original tnsnames.ora was like this
    REP60_TEST.INTNET.MU =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp)(HOST = test.intnet.mu)(PORT = 1950))
    I added an alias to the tnsnames.ora file
    now my tnsnames.ora is like this
    REP60TEST,REP60_TEST.INTNET.MU =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp)(HOST = test.intnet.mu)(PORT = 1950))
    This is working fine
    Thanks

  • As configuring the services like for example that of Forms and reports in Oracle 9iAs

    Como configurar los servicios como por ejemplo el de Forms y reports en Oracle 9iAs para sistema operativo Solaris. Para que los reports y forms sean vistos en la WEB.

    Jenny, for Forms and Reports configuration issues, you might try posting to the Oracle9i Forms forum:
    Forms: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jsp?id=345390
    Reports: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jsp?id=338539
    These are actively monitored by product managers from those groups. If your question covers Web services with Forms and Reports, check out the viewlets showing how to make those aspects of Forms and Reports work at:
    http://otn.oracle.com/tech/webservices/sample.html
    We are planning on rolling out some new content and how to's specific to Oracle Reports and Web services probably the last week of July. The content is just been written, reviewed and recorded this week based on the examples you see in those viewlets.
