Multiple Curves in Numbers

Im trying to add multiple trials of distribution an assignment and im not sure how im supposed to do it in numbers

I agree with Barry that your problem statement to us is too vague.  Assuming you want to show a family of curves where you vary a parameter, you could have several data sets which refer to the same ordinate value and use the same formula but vary a single parameter.
Here is my "shot-in-the-dark" as to what you want

how do I add multiple rows in Numbers for iPad?

    Hi James,
On the iPod I can only insert what is on the clipboard but I can insert however many rows I have there. Is it working differently for you? Benjoon seemed to think that he could not do this in Numbers. He was ruling Numbers out because of it. He doesn't need to do that because of this issue.
If I was needing to insert multiple blank rows often I might keep a table of blank rows or just some blank rows at the end of the working table that I could copy/paste. This is no different than Numbers on the Mac.

  • After updating numbers and pages I can no longer copy multiple cells from numbers and paste and match style to pages.

After updating numbers and pages I can no longer copy multiple cells from numbers and paste and match style to pages.  I used to be able to select multipule cells in a row (such as company name, address, etc.) then paste and match style on to a pages letter. I found the paste and match style option in the edit menu, however it will only work one cell at a time. Before the update is was working great.

For diagnosing purpose thy the procedure in a new user account and see if it works there. You create a new user account in the System Preferences > Accounts. If it works in the new account it is probably a corrupt plist file that needs to be deleted.

  • When displaying multiple curves on one 2d graph in reports how do I force one curve to be in the foreground?

When displaying multiple curves on one 2d graph in reports how do I force one curve to be in the foreground? I have two signals and I want to show one overlayed on top of the other. Right now Diadem will only graph it the other way around. I have tried deleting the curves and re-adding them in differnt orders, changin the order they are in the curve list, changing their order inthe data portal, right clicking on the curve and selecting "move to forground" (this only moves the entire 2-d graph object to the foreground). Im using Diadem 12.0 Basic.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Joe,
I figured out what causes your curves to draw in the wrong "order".
You are using two Y-axes, and DIAdem always draws the data for Y1 before Y2, no matter what the order of the curves is in the "Curve and Axis Definition" dialog.
I am attaching your layout with a small modification, I changed the Y1 and Y2 axis order (I swapped which Y-axis the data is displayed on), and I get the following result:
Once I looked at your layout it became clear why the order of the curves didn't reflect the order in which the curves were drawn. I didn't know this - so I just learned something new here as well.
I hope this answers your question, feel free to ask if there is anything else I can help you with.

  • __Is there a way to 'merge' multiple curves into a single curve?

__Is there a way to 'merge' multiple curves into a single curve?
By this I mean I have file with 2-12 curve layers - I wanted to 'merge' the curves so that I can end up with a single curve with the attributes of many. Maybe is there a script that would do this?

I don't mean to be critical, but how do you get to a situation where you have 12 successive Curves layers?
The advantage to a Curves layer is that you can adjust and re-adjust it to your heart's content.
If you're habitually adding new Curves layers one over the other, maybe you should re-evaluate your process of working...  Perhaps the way you're thinking you should just work at a high bit depth and do repeated Curves operations on the pixels?  Or put some time into retraining yourself to not add a new Curves layer but to manipulate the one that's already there.  There are some nice new enhancements (e.g., the "finger" subtool that allows you to choose a spot in the image and manipulate that part of the curve).
Again, I'm not trying to criticize you, just looking to see if maybe there's a way to avoid getting to the point where you need to combine Curves in the first place, since there's no direct "Merge Curves" capability, outside of just stamping a set of image and adjustment layers into pixels.  For completeness I suppose I should mention how to do that...  You can Stamp any combination of visible layers into a single layer of pixels (effectively combining all the Curves layers et. al.) by pressing Control - Shift - Alt - E.

  • Import vcf into Address Book loosing multiple mobile phone numbers

When I import vcf entries that hold more than one mobile phone number, all but the first number is lost. This behavior changed from address book version 4.1.2 (osx 10.5 leopard) to address book version 5.0.1 (snow leopard - 10.6.2).
    You can try yourself:
create an entry in the address book that has multiple mobile phone numbers, export that entry as a vcf file, delete the entry in the address book and reimport the vcf file. All but the first mobile phone number is lost! It works correct in addressbook in leopard but does not anymore in the latest version of snow leopard. I even think the error just appeard after the last update to 10.6.2!
    Apple, please fix this bug!

Address Book 5.0.1 multiple field issues:
We have found the same thing. It seems to only be Address Book 5.0.1 which is affected. We are cautiously using our previous version 5.0 (from Snow Leopard 10.6.1) which seems not to be affected.
It is also a problem if you merge records. We have found that any fields which have matching labels will be deleted leaving only one. In some cases other fields which do not match label are also deleted. We have also experienced an issue with the preferences for the formatting of Phone Numbers in the preferences dialog no longer working correctly.
We have reported this to Apple RADAR bug reports. We have referenced this thread too.
In the meantime our advice is to:
Back up your Apple Address Book contacts and keep the backup safe.
carefully use Address Book v 5.0 from Snow Leopard 10.6.1 (cautiously at your own risk as there may be issues using a version that is not designed for 10.6.2 - back up your address book first). This version has always seemed pretty reliable for us.
If you continue to use v 5.0.1 do not merge any contacts. do not run find duplicates (just in case). do not import any contacts into the address book.

  • How do I select multiple sheets in Numbers

I have  a numbers file established with numerous sheets and I want to select multiple sheets, cut and paste them to a new file to help organize my data.

    Hi Beast,
You might find it easier to duplicate the whole doc and delete the sheets you don't want. Otherwise you are copying and pasting tables from each sheet.

  • How do i select multiple cells in numbers or iPad?

    Hello,
can you help me? I do not find out how to select multiple cells in a table that do not stand next to each other.
For example, I want to select cells A1, A3, A9 and so on. Afterwards I want to change the colour.
Do you have an idea? Perhaps it's quite simple but I don't find the solution
Sorry, I'm no native english speaker. I hope you'll understand what I am looking for.

    HI Ritscho
I do not beleive this is possible, I can see other threads here from 2 years ago asking the same thing and none of them have answers.
You can selesct a range of adjacent cells as Eric said, but not 2 different ranges. I usually use numbers on the iPad for filling in template spreadsheets that I create on my Mac. Most of the formatting I do on the Mac then fill in the blanks whilst i'm out and about.
Not the answer you were looking for but hope it helps.

  • Sorting by Multiple Columns in Numbers 3.0

The new Numbers 3.0 update has moved some stuff around I need, and can not find.
Where is "Reorganize"?  The ability to sort multiple by columns.  (e.g. Sort Ascending Column A, THEN Column B, THEN Column C)
    mf

this didn't work for me - i have item, then price, then checkbox. using the formula just gave an amalgamation of the three cells.
    Hi Saqib,
The very idea of the workaround is to give an amalgamation, more often called "concatenation", and then just sort on the column containing the concatenated "string."
As you've discovered, the =A&C&B formula only works if A,C, and B are all text. If you've got numbers in the mix then you have to pad them with leading zeros for them to sort as you want. That's easily done.
Let's say C is a number and A and B are strings. You could put somethng like this in column D:
    =A&RIGHT("0000"&C,4)&B
It's certainly not convenient to have to add a new column and put in a formula. But this is not *that* difficult as a workaround until the day multcolumn sort is added back in.

  • Can data be sorted by multiple columns in numbers version 3

Since upgrading Numbers to version 3 (now 3.0.1) I have been unable to sort data in spreadsheets using multiple columns.  Anyone found a solution?
    Regards
    kurrajong60

Here's a simple example. Say you want this sorted first by Region then by Name then by Amount.
So if you set up a sort index column with a simple formula and all you have to do is this (two clicks):
    Giving you this:
Of course you could do it as I think Hiroto is suggesting and manually sort first by column B, then sort by C, then sort by A.
But that's a lot of trouble and it's easy to confuse the order so you end up having to start over again.

  • Pasting multiple cells in Numbers.

I have been searching all day to figure out how to copy cells from several rows and paste them but have the cells now adjacent to one another. This is possible in Excel (it does it automatically). For example, I have numbers in A1, A11, A21 and I would like to copy those 3 numbers (as they are the result of formulas) and then paste them but instead of having 10 empty rows between the numbers (which is what Numbers does) I would like the 3 values to be adjacent in the same column (eg, in B1,B2,B3). I can select the multiple cells I want to copy by holding the command key, but when I paste it keeps the same "format" as the original cells (i.e. separated by 10 rows). I'm using Numbers '09 Version 2.2, on a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.8.1.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Best,
    K

    Hi Wayne,
It is a lovely feature of MS Excel that you can copy non contiguous cells and upon paste they become contiguous.
As for "bigger picture" - I have a large table for analyzing quantitative PCR data...it consists of several rows and columns with formulas for various calculations. What I am analyzing is the expression levels of a number of genes in several samples (for example, 5 genes and I look at the expression of those 5 genes in 4 samples). The "end point" is calculating the RQ value for each gene in each sample, and I then graph the RQ values. Where the non-contiguous to contiguous paste is necessary is that the RQ values are spread out along the rows and columns (the cells in between contain the raw data and other formulas). What I was previously doing was selecting multiple cells within the row that had the RQ values, copying, and then upon paste they would be contiguous. This makes copying and pasting all of the data for constructing the graph very efficient. I have recently switiched to Numbers and am prefering it to Excel...with the exception of this one feature. Yes, copying and pasting one item at a time is possible, but time consuming and error prone compared to the method I was using in Excel. Hopefully this explanation helps in finding a solution.
    Best,
    K

  • Multiple invoices and numbering invoices

    Hello again.
Is there a way to numerically number invoices through Numbers? Also is it better to save multiple invoices separately in a folder or is it better/possible to have all the invoices throughout a year save in a single Numbers document?
    Thanks
    Stephen

    Hello
I wrote a script which may do that for Pages.
It will be usable if you put your Invoice in a table of a Pages document.
I will try to modify it to work on a Numbers document the day this application will be scriptable.
Enregistrer le script en tant qu'Application ou Progiciel : numéroteur.app
déplacer l'application créée dans le dossier
    <VolumeDeDémarrage>:Users:<votreCompte>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Pages:
    +++++++
Save the script as an Application or an Application Bundle: numéroteur.app
Move the newly created application into the folder:
    <startup Volume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Pages:
Maybe you would have to create the folder Pages and even the folder Applications by yourself.
When you want to create a new invoice
    Go to
    menu Scripts > numéroteur
The script will create a new invoice document from the template "ma_facture.template"
    stored in "Templates:My templates"
It will replace the string "#erutcaf#" by an invoice number
and store it in the file "le_numéro.txt" in the template's package.

  • Making a Bell Curve in Numbers or MS Office for MAC: I already have mean and standard deviation

I hope my question is a simple one with a simple answer: I have the results of a mid-term and the professor gave us the mean and standard deviation of the results of the exam from which he based our grades. I am a visual person and (to be honest) without having to put forth a lot of effort, I would like to see visually where I fall on this, admittedly, artificial curve. I have both Numbers and MS Office on my MacBook Pro. Is there an easy way to create a bell curve using these numbers? It seems like there should be since those are usually the only numbers needed. I just, honestly, don't want to do the tedious work myself.

Statistical functions including several which deal with normal distribution, are discussed in Chapter 10, Statistical Functions, of the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide. This useful guide may be downloaded via the Help menu in Numbers '09. Go to chapter 10, or for a direct route, search 'normal distribution'
For what it's worth, you can find the formula  for calculating the coordinates for the bell curve here: The-Normal-Distribution-Or-Bell-Curve
