Multiple daily updates are a nuisance: thinking of using Google Chrome, now.

I am receiving multiple daily updates for Firefox Browser. This is becoming a nuisance. Can there be one daily update? Frankly, I am considering using Google Chrome now.

Hi PAPPASAN44,
It looks like you are running 9.0.1 which is the latest version of Firefox. It came out a few days ago and there have been no updates since then. What makes you think that it is updating daily?
If you are seeing a message on [http://www.google.com/firefox/ this page] that you are out of date, you should take a look at [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/905310 the response from cor-el in this thread]. The page is just incorrect.
If you see the "Welcome to Firefox" or "Just updated Firefox" page every time you log in, you should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
If that doesn't work:
# Type about:config in the address bar
# Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
# In the Filter input field type ''startup''
# Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
# Delete the text string and click ''OK''
# Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
Hopefully this helps!

  • How can I remove the repetitive multiple daily updates from Mozilla

    Hello
How can I remove the repetitive multiple daily updates from Mozilla?
Within a day, each day I get prompts as: Mozilla Firefox Update is ready to install at your computer.........then I do install and update it.......then after few minutes again it asks to update the same edition.........again after logging in back few hours later it prompts me again with the same request........IT IS VERY ANNOYING!
    Thank You,
    Gene

You could allow the update to proceed - that will stop Mozilla from asking if you want to update every time you launch Firefox, as is supposed to happen.
Any particular reason that you don't want Firefox 35.0.1 to be installed?
    </blockquote>
    Hi The EDmeister,
    Thank you for your response.
Nevertheless, I have to repeat that I have ALREADY INSTALLED the Firefox 35.0.1 in my computer and ALLOWED IT TO PROCEED.
The same edition is prompting me back again, and again and again, within a day, each day. I get that annoying message at the top-right hand.
I do not want to see it every time, multiple times a day, that is the issue here, unresolved!
    Best regards,
    Gene

  • I am trying to watch videos online, but a message saying "You are currently browsing the web with Google Chrome..."

I have a MacBook Pro, which I just bought in August.
When I try to watch videos on my computer, a message pops up saying, "You are currently browsing the web with Google Chrome and your Video Player might be outdated." I know it's a pop up, but I don't know how to get rid of it and watch videos on my computer. I did look it up online and I downloaded the TSM Adware Removal Tool, which removed some adware files. Then I also downloaded Bitdefender Virus Scanner from the app store to scan my entire computer - nothing came up.
Please help me solve this problem. Thanks.

The update alerts are fake, and are intended to dupe you into installing malware or disclosing private information so that your identity can be stolen.
You might get the alerts when visiting a website that has been hacked. Don't visit the site again. If applicable, notify the site administrator of the problem, but don't send email to an unknown party.
If you get the alerts when visiting more than one well-known website, such as Google, YouTube, or Facebook, then they're almost certainly the result of an attack on your router that has caused you to get false results from looking up the addresses of Internet servers. Requests sent to those sites are redirected to a server controlled by the attacker. It's possible, but less likely, that the DNS server used by your ISP has been attacked, but you should assume that the router is at fault until proven otherwise.
The router's documentation should tell you how to reset it to the factory default state. Usually there's a pinhole switch somewhere in the back. It may be labeled "RESET." Insert the end of a straightened paper clip or a similar tool and press the button inside for perhaps 15 seconds, or as long as the instructions specify.
After resetting the router, quit the web browser and relaunch it while holding down the shift key. From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Do the equivalent if you use another browser. Open the Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.
Then go through the router's initial setup procedure. I can't be specific, because it's different for every model. The key points are these:
    1. Don't allow the router to be administered from the WAN (Internet) port, if it has that option. Most do.
    2. Set a strong password to protect the router's settings: at least ten random upper- and lower-case letters and digits. Don't use the default password or any other that could be guessed. Save the password in your keychain. Any password that you can remember is weak.
    3. If the router is wireless, or if you have a wireless access point on the network, use "WPA 2 Personal" security and set a different strong password to protect the network. If the router or access point doesn't support WPA 2, it's obsolete and must be replaced.
During the time the router was compromised, you were redirected to bogus websites. If you ever connected to a secure site and got a warning from your browser that the identity of the server could not be verified, and you dismissed that warning in order to log in, assume that your credentials for the site have been stolen and that the attacker has control of the account. This warning also applies to all websites on which you saw the fake update alerts.
Check the router manufacturer's website for a firmware update.
If you downloaded and installed what you thought was a software update, ask for instructions.

  • Using Google Chrome - is there a way to convert multiple messages/folders into a pdf?

We are transitioning from Lotus Notes to Google Chrome. In Lotus, we had the option to select muliple messages or mulitple folders and convert them into PDFs. In Chrome, I only see the ability to convert a single message at a time through the "print" function. Is there another way? Thanks!

Spoke with Adobe rep - conversation below:
Chandhar: May I know whether you wish to convert the E-mails, folder to PDF at once in Google Chrome web browser ?
Michelle: I am looking to either select multiple emails OR covert a folder of emails into a pdf while in Chrome
Chandhar: Michelle, feature to convert the E-mails/ E-mails folder is available in Lotus Notes, Microsoft Outlook.
Chandhar: It is not available in Google Chrome web browser
Michelle: is there any future plans to change this?
Chandhar: It will be notified once it is available.

  • TS1702 Multiple app updates are stuck

Multiple apps were selected for upload.
After many hours, I don't see the upload progressing and I can't access the apps getting updated.

    Try both of these suggestions.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.

  • Adobe Acrobat updates - opt ins or opt outs for Google Chrome?

Hi - anybody else fed up that when accepting one of the many Adobe Acrobat updates that the flag is set for also installing Google products? These should be set as opt ins, not as opt outs, and I find this intrusive. It's time wasting having to uninstall these products, and also fill in a lengthy questionnaire why you are uninstalling the product you never wanted to install in the first place!

How can I resolve error code -54 in iTunes? I am using the latest iTunes. No new updates are available. I'm using iTunes 11.3 on a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.6.8. I can't save my library in iTunes, the message just keeps popping up.

From an OS9 reference, error -54 is a software lock on a file or a permissions error. (Although there is no formal list of OSX error code some of the old codes still apply to OSX .)
First, try simply restarting your computer.
Try quitting iTunes, then deleting the .xml (not .itl !) version of the library file in the iTunes folder (iTunes will generate a new one).

  • Being prompted to update Flash, ignore?  v11.2.202.228 and v11.2.202.229 Google Chrome

Just prompted by Adobe that an upgrade to Adobe Flash Player is available – within the bullets say includes security enhancements.
Two weeks ago I was made aware that there were security vulnerabilities with Flash.  My laptop was infected (3/26).  One of the recommendations from my anti-virus software company was to keep all Adobe products updated, especially Flash.  Also, I was given the recommendation to consider choosing a less common browser than IE; he used Google Chrome which has its own security features.  I had used Chrome once before when it was beta but downloaded the new Chrome, set security settings and testing it out.  A few days later, someone I know also in the IS community said their company (a large international company) is uninstalling all Adobe products from all of their employee computers completely.
In reading the Developer Release Notes, this upgrade is for v11.2.202.228.
The Adobe Flash website section detects I have v11.2.202.229 installed.  The latest version listed underneath was .228.  I questioned how I could have a newer, higher number, version if .228 is the latest release? This was odd, needed an answer and to verify I was current.
In reading the Security Bulletin, it says… “These priority 2 updates address critical vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.63 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris, and Adobe Flash Player 11.1.111.7 and earlier versions for Android 3.x and 2.x. These vulnerabilities could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system… … …Adobe recommends users of Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.63 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh and Linux update to Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.228 … … ...can install the update via the update mechanism within the product when prompted. Google Chrome will be updated automatically, so no user action is required. Google Chrome users can verify that they have updated to Google Chrome version 18.0.1025.151, which includes Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.229.”
This answered my question.  I am current…and then I found an Adobe forum thread asking if 11.2.202.229 files installed in the correct place.  I am deducing from the bulletin that the v.229 is designed with content or files specific for Google Chrome. And I am also deducing I was prompted that a new update is available because Flash Auto Update is looking for any version other than or is “not v.228” and not looking for “both v.228 AND v.229 files” on one’s computer? Concluding that I should ignore this prompt, check “do not remind me about this update” now and in the future if using Chrome [but I would still always need to verify Flash has been updated on my computer or verify I have the latest version of Google Chrome, before ignoring]? And if I do choose not to continue using Google Chrome (uninstall), I should then resume with manual updates.  Please provide feedback.
If true, my recommendation to Adobe would be to design the Flash Auto Update to search for *all* versions related to the latest release to avoid a false prompt from appearing and/or *also include within the text of the standard Auto-update prompt’s window the same verbiage as within the Security Bulletin (which is not normally read by users) regarding Google Chrome, directing that no user action is required. It may or may not be harmful for someone to proceed with installing v.228 when they already have v.229… meanting it may not delete or replace any important files specific to Google Chrome and protecting against security vulnerability as it might be that .229 may only have a few additional files. *Another recommendation would be that both the .228 and .229 v for Google Chrome be listed as the latest release on Adobe Flash website page and release content.  This may have been a timing issue.  Google/Adobe might want to re-consider the timing/order in which they deploy their versions or re-consider the auto-update feature within Google Chrome all in itself to avoid confusion, avoid the need to then verify it anyway afterwards (an added step in itself) and avoid Google Chrome users that are completely unaware of this and what action to take, from updating to a different incompatible version that could possibly conflict with the requirements of Google Chrome or its security.  However, everything would be resolved by the first recommendation.  I did wonder why I just got prompted today for a release on March 28th, but luckily it looks like I have the latest version.  And I did find it interesting how I noticed underneath the install for Adobe AIR that you may have to disable your anti-virus before installing.
I look forward to your feedback to my question confirming whether or not I should just to ignore this update.  In effort to prevent PCs from future attacks, I provided my feedback and recommendations.  Thank you.

Hi thanks, I have Vista 64 bit. Both of these directories or folders exist. Here are the files they contain.
    \System 32\:
    Flash64_11_1_102.ocx
    FlashUtil64_11_1_102_ActiveX.dll
    FlashUtil64_11_1_102_ActiveX (2/19/2012)…v11.1.102 so should I install.
    FlashInstall
    \SysWOW64\:
    Flash9f.ocx
    Flash11f.ocx
    FlashUtil9f (10/16/2008)
    FlashUtil11e_ActiveX (2/6/2012)
    FlashUtil11f_ActiveX (2/16/2012)
    FlashUtil11f_ActiveX.dll
    FlashInstall
    install
Chrome was installed after 3/26.  I am guessing these are for Active X for IE and they don’t look like the latest version. As I mentioned, when I checked with Adobe to see what version is running on my system it only displays the latest version for Google Chrome which is a current one.  So one (a user) wouldn’t know of the other versions that need to be updated.  You are correct that I thought there was only one version on my system.  Thanks for informing me, I didn’t even search or think of that.  If I forcefully download the update anyway, will it update both of these directories?
Also when you say, “Manually downloading or updating Flash Player from Adobe will not affect Chrome's installation of Flash Player.” I realize moving forward it wouldn’t affect future Chrome installs but did you also mean downloading .228 when I have .229 will not affect this currently the installed version?..…if built-in, does Google Chrome store any files on my system or is it completely built-in?

It came to my attention there a new program working with itune since last update named Apsdaemon.exe its been using 99% of my processus when its active.
Any idea why so much and will it be fix eventually because before last update i never encounter any issue using Itune? Now when that aplication or extention from Itune is working my computor froze to a huge alt. I play video games online and love listening to my music with itune playing in the background and normally was able to have firefox open and a program called ventrillo all working at the same time and now i can barelly have itune and play a game. As soon it start been choppy i just control alt delete wait 5 minute to close down apsdaemon.exe when i'm capable most of the time i have to restart my computor. And why is it so Heavy consuming on the process its memory utility is under the 100ko i believe so why 99% of my processus is been use ?
a good exemple i could give is itune.exe working it shows process 02% for 123 000ko that is light and perfect.

I do not want it, I will not install it, it wastes time downloading. Stop sending it to me.

  • Google Chrome installing without my consent when I update Adobe Flash Player

To whom do I complain about Google Chrome installing without my consent when I updated Adobe Flash Player? I updated to Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X this morning. I saw no indication that Google Chrome was going to install and given that I have used GC in the past and absolutely hated it I would not have completed the Flash update. If there is an opt-out for Chrome when updating Flash it needs to be more obvious.
I was annoyed but simply uninstalled Chrome and thought that would take care of it. Not so fast! Suddenly links in Outlook emails stopped working. All tolled I spent 2 hours figuring out what the problem was, finding the solution and editing the registry to get rid of Chrome. I have moved beyond annoyed to livid. I am self-employed and did not have 2 hours of my week to devote to this.
I will never use Google Chrome. I tried it, didn't like it and I'm now I'm thoroughly done. Is there a way to permanently opt out of getting Google Chrome?
So again, to whom do I complain?
    Tamara Gehle

No one--if they gave a **** int he first place their software gurus woulnd't have created a download that essentially hijacks your computer and installs the google toolbar and google chrome--all without asking for consent. Too much of this crap goes on. Look at your task manager--all sorts of updates and crap running behind the scenes (google update runs constantly on my other computer till I deleted the updater.exe)-too much of it from hidden downloads like this site propgates. And to top it off, I can't edit Adopbe .pdf forms on line and save them anymore. So I found this link: http://www.tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-viewer  where you can fill all those fillable fields in your .pdf doc, and save the damned thing. Works just like Adobe used to when you could fill in fields from forms on-line and save it.
