Is it recommended to have multiple datafiles per
tablespace?It all depends on your particular storage needs. You could have a single datafile at maximum capacity for your tablespace, just ensure you can store it and in case you have to move it, it could be affordable.
There are DBA's who use several datafiles for a single tablespaces, this reduces the single point of failure possibility and allows a more flexible datafile maintenance.
Performance is the same for, except for the checkpoint process, the more datafiles, the more effort to update datafile headers.

But as of now I have 4 DBF in a single Tablespace and all are having more than 25G in a size. And I can see many of the free blocks in all the files at the end If the free blocks are at the end, what prevents you from resizing the datafiles?
when data are inserting in the DBFs its not only spread to single file and once its reach to max size then only moved to second DBF, its scatter with the all the allocated DBFs of that particualr Tablespace. You can downgrade to 9i! The out-dated method you are after was deprecated with 10g. Why do you want to ignore parallelism and fill up one datafile sequentially until it reaches maximum size before putting data in another?

You will have to use more then one command to add datafiles to multiple tablespaces.

Tablespaces with Multiple Datafiles

I've got a Version 7.3.3.4 tablespace with multiple datafiles. There's a lot of object fragmentation. I want to be able to
drop and recreate many (but not all) of the objects in this tablespace but exercise some control on which objects go to
which datafiles in order to better utilize the available space on each datafile. I've been told that Oracle assigns objects
to datafiles in a "round robin" fashion. I'd like info on exactly how this process works and if I can have a more direct effect
on where objects are placed within the tablespace?

I could, perhaps help you first by telling you that there is a ALTER command for coelescing space in ORACLE 7.3.4 :
ALTER TABLESPACE tablespace COALESCE ;
Of course you should have the permissions (ALTER TABLESPACE)
This command is for the entirely tablespace ...
In fact, i need a query that gives me for each tablespaces, how are they fragmented (with segment_name ..).

Adding No. of Datafiles to TableSpace

Hi All,
I have doubt regarding adding no. of datafiles to Tablespace. I wanna connect my application to Oracle10g database. As a DBA I am going to allocate on separate Tablespace to this new Application. As time will pass the data acumulated by the application would reach in GBs, So how should I control the datafile???
1) Shall I add only one Big datafile to the TB
OR
2) Periodically I should go on adding the datafile as it crosses the particular limit of
data size???
What policy should I follow....

Hi,
There is no issue in creating multiple datafiles while creating database or adding them later. If space is no constraitn for you then you should create multiple datafiles during creation of database.
Also create then with AUTOEXTEND clause and you don't have to put this clause OFF if you create it with MAXSIZE parameter. It's always better tot have MAXSIZE parameter defined because this will not allow your datafile to grow bigger then the MAXSIZE parameter size. Here is example of adding a datafile to tablespace with MAXSIZE clause;
ALTER TABLESPACE users
ADD DATAFILE '/u02/oracle/rbdb1/users03.dbf' SIZE 10M
AUTOEXTEND ON
NEXT 512K
MAXSIZE 250M;
After defining the MAXSIZE, keep a close eye on growth of data in datafile and when its near to fill add a new datafile to tablespace and keep this cycle on....
Regarding your second question :
You are write that data is written 2nd to datafile when first one is full. But you try to validate this point running database then sometimes you will find that 2nd datafile is consuming more space then 1st, even have 1st datafile is sufficient empty. This is due to fact od frequent deletions in the tables who resides in datafile.

Actual and Plan Versions annual view - Multiple versions per company code

Iu2019m creating an FI-CO query with an annual view of both Actuals and Plan Values, which uses period and version as input values. The dilemma is around the plan versions which are hardcoded per company codes (eg. 1 Company Code = versions 501 u2013 512)
Can anyone suggest a possible solutions as normally there is only one version used for planning but in this instance there are multiple versions per Company Code.
Currently the report is hardcoded for one Company Code and going forward it should cater for more than one(Company Company* 12 Version)

Remove restriction on comp code. There could be 2 models.
1. Include comp code, value type and version in the rows. This way you get multiple records for a comp code. One record for actual data and one record each for plan versions. To have this model at the query, the data model in the cube also should be in this way (what we call as the account model), multiple records differentiated into actual/plan by valuetype and different versions by version.
2. Include comp code in rows. Create selections, one for actuals (restrict with key fig and value type 10, actuals), one for each plan versions (restrict key fig with value type 20, version 501. Create one selection for each version this way). This way we have one record per comp code with diff key fig for actual and plan versions. We call this as key fig model. To have this model at the query, the data model in the cube could be account model or key fig model. If it is key fig model then no need of selections. The key fig could be taken directly from the cube.

"Layout" option in iPhoto 09 - multiple photos per page

I am trying to printing several different photos on a single page. While I can achieve this by selecting a smaller image size and letting iPhoto arrange them automatically I would like to adjust the layout. When I selected "Layout" (under "customize") earlier I was offered layouts for One, Two, Three etc. images per page but now I can't find how to get iPhoto to offer more than One image per page. Am I doing something wrong? With several pictured selected, how do I customize the layout?

Thanks - That is what I figured but the strange thing is that when I clicked on "Layout" 20 minutes before I posted this question it offered me page layout options for "One", "Two" "Three" and "Four" images per page with different configurations for each......but now I can't get those options - frustrating! And thinking about it, why would it say "One" under layout if there were no other options available?
Has anyone else experienced this? Do other iPhoto 09 users get multiple images per page options under "Layout"?

How to save a pdf with multiple slides per page

I have multiple pdf files that I would like to combine but for some of those files, there were originally from powerpoint. For those files, I would like to change the pdf so that there are multiple slides per page. I don't have a copy of the original powerpoints. I am trying to find an easy way to do this because I have at least a hundred pdfs to do. Thank you!

You could print a PDF to the Adobe PDF printer, and select multiple Pages per Sheet on the Layout tab of the printer Properties dialog. Printing a PDF to PDF is generally frowned upon, but once it a while it comes in handy. It could have some unwelcome side effects though like wiping out your carefully crafted accessibility tags, bookmarks, and some document properties.

How to print multiple sheets per page?

Please advise how, if it is possible, to print multiple sheets per page with Acrobat 7.0 Pro. I have a PDF that's about 24" x 60". I'd like to make a "poor man's poster" by printing on several pages and taping them together -- sort of like Microsoft's "Fit to <x pages> tall by <y pages> wide" feature. That is typically a function of the print driver for Acrobat. One way to do it is to print to a new PDF and select the printer properties and select multi-up. Bill

Firefox crashes multiple times per day

Hello all!
As of the last month or two, Firefox now crashes multiple times per day (even in Safe Mode). Firefox is fully updated, as are my Add-ons and Extensions.
Yesterday alone, it crashed 14 times (which is about average).

RFIDYYWT across company codes produces 1099 with multiple records per TIN

We have multiple company codes that post 1099-MISC relevant payments to a common set of vendors. All payments are processed through our main (paying) company code.
All our company codes are one taxable entity to the federal government, with one TIN. We are required to submit one file to the IRS.
Unfortunately, when we execute RFIDYYWT across company codes we get multiple records per vendor, one for each company code, despite that the vendor has only one TIN.
How may we customize the system so that a single execution of RFIDYYWT provides an IRS compliant file that aggregates common vendor records?

Nokia 2323 Contacts: Multiple entries per contact ...

Hello Everyone,

I am planning to buy Nokia 2323 Classic phone. gsmarena informs that it can save 1000 contacts. What I need to know is that does this phone accept multiple entries per contact. For example: Work Phone, Home Phone, Fax, Mobile Phone etc. If yes, then how many entries can each contact take? Also, if we add multiple entries then would it reduce the number of contacts we can save?
I have googled but it doesn't help. Also tried looking at the online user guide of Nokia 2323. It talks about going into Details menu and then entering Add detail but doesn't mention what kind of "details" it takes. I would be really glad if some one who has seen/used the phone could help.

Now that I'm not so sure about. The phone will either have a certain amount of memory put aside for contacts and usually you can't tell how much but you can check how much of it you have used as a percentage or it will let the contacts share the same memory as your messages and everything else and when you check your memory it will just tell you how much the contacts are using. I haven't used that phone but I think the 1st case applies to it

I was wondering if it was possible to have multiple ratings per song on iTunes. My family owns 3 iPods and we all want to rate our music seperately and we all want to access iTunes on only one computer account.
So is there a way to rate the same song differently per iPod and have the info for both be saved?

No, that is not possible. Maybe having separate users on Windows would be the best option for you.
