Multiple defects in Safari performance

I am using Safari 4.04 and can't list the various performance failures. I've shifted to Firefox which seems to work fine where Safari fails, e.g., sending webmail on Comcast. I first thought it was Comcast that was at fault but when I went to Firefox the Comcast webmail performed. I conclude it is Safari that is at fault.

HI,
You've had this issue for sometime I see. http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2133848#2133848 Hopefully the suggestions I've made will help.
You didn't mention anything about Safari maintenance. If you haven't done so, try it.
For Comcast. From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences and select the Autofill tab.
Click the Edit button next to: *User names and passwords*. Delete comcast.com. Click Done.
Relaunch Safari and see if you can access the Comcast site. I've used Safari with Comcast for 5 years without a single glitch from Safari 3 on 10.4 to Safari 4.0.4 on 10.6.2.
If that didn't help...
From the Safari Mnu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.
Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
If Safari still gives you problems,go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If it's a successful launch, then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.
Also, try recycling the modem. Turn it off for about 5 mins then turn it back on. Restart your Mac and see if that helps.

  • My MacBook Pro Retina has suffered from poor (temperamental) safari performance since purchase.

Because I often use my iPad or iPhone at home the safari issue hasn't really bothered me until recently and now, rather than just being temperamental, performance is just downright poor. It's taken well over 5 minutes to download ordinary BBC web pages on a 100Mbit broadband network. This has become typical  and now my kaspersky for mac security can no longer update its database - really annoyed at the prospect of having to get a new machine as I ordered the 2.7 GHz that took over 6 weeks to ship. Still within 6 months of my initial apple care.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello Poikkeus,
Thanks for taking an interest and offering to help. Unfortunately, my Mac doesn't seem to be able to download any of the versions of istat citing that safari can't find the server - no luck using chrome either. Safari performance does improve with restarting the machine, however, I really don't want to restart my machine every time I use it; I had hoped that I could open my machine from sleep after using it the previous day without any issues. Is this a reasonable assumption? Occasionally I experience poor performance when using my work PC if I hibernate or log off rather than shut down, however, I expected better from my Mac.
Furthermore, Kaspersky have just informed me that the error messages I receive when my security database fails to update indicates that there is a problem with my broadband connection. However, as I mentioned earlier, I have 100MBit broadband and experience no issues when using my work PC, iPad or iPhone.
I'm guessing I'll have to follow your initial piece of advice and visit the Genius Bar to have them resolve the issue...
    Many Thanks

  • Opening multiple screens in safari

how do i open multiple screens using safari???

Cmd-N on the keyboard opens a new window.
Also, +File -> New Window+ from the menu bar does the same thing.
You can also open a new tab in an existing window (click the plus sign or Cmd-T). Then click-hold on the tab and drag it outside the current window. A new window will open from the tab.

You will likely get better program help in a program forum
The Cloud forum is not about using individual programs
The Cloud forum is about the Cloud as a delivery & install process
If you will start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says All communities) to open the drop down list and scroll

You have a good number of Input Managers and other items that can interfere with Safari and cause crashing. One or more are the likely cause of your crashing. To find out, you need to remove or disable all of the items below.
    /Library/InputManagers/ConciergeLoader/ConciergeLoader.bundle
    /Library/InputManagers/RapidoWrite/RapidoWrite.bundle
    /Library/Application Support/Concierge/Concierge.bundle
    /Library/InputManagers/CaminoSession/CaminoSession.bundle
    /Library/InputManagers/LCC Scroll Enhancer Loader/LCC Scroll Enhancer Loader.bundle
    /Library/InputManagers/SIMBL/SIMBL.bundle
    /Library/Application Support/Logitech/LCC Scroll Enhancer.bundle
    /Users/funkright/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/Afloat.bundle
    /Users/funkright/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/SafariStand.bundle
    /Users/funkright/Library/InputManagers/Inquisitor/Inquisitor.bundle
    /Users/funkright/Library/InputManagers/Inquisitor/Inquisitor.bundle
    /Users/funkright/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/SafariStand.bundle
To disable them, you need to create separate folders in /Library/InputManagers and/or ~/Library InputManagers with the name of InputManagers (Disabled) and move the items into that folder. The same holds true for Application Support: create folder(s) in the appropriate directory with the name of Application Support (Disabled) and move the offending items into it. Then restart Safari to see if the problem persists; if not, then you need to add items back one at a time and restart Safari each time to see if it crashes.
It's likely that Inquisitor is one of the culprits, as you have 3.0 and the most recent version is 3.2, so you should upgrade that if indeed it is the culprit, or one of them.

  • Why can't I open multiple tabs in safari on my I pad air

Why can't I open multiple tabs in safari on my I pad air

Don't know since we don't know that you are doing.
Are you tapping the blue + sign in the upper right corner of the Safari toolbar? That is what you do to open a new tab.

  • Abysmal safari performance

Recently switched bought a macbook. I'm happy with the system except that safari performance completely *****. I spend more time waiting for web pages to load than I do actually reading them. Sometimes have to wait minutes for pages to load. I've poured over configuration documentation (at apple support, at comcast support, on the web) to no avail.
I'm using airport and a wireless router->cable modem to connect to my ISP. My desktop pc / IE which uses a ethernet land line through the same router->cable modem doesn't experience any of these issues. IE by comparison is lightening fast. My work pc laptop / IE which also connects wirelessly through the same network also doesn't express this latency. Any ideas what the problem can be?

    Try this:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions.
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.
If not, MacFixit have published a very detailed (very!) article on speeding up a slow Safari, here:
    http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20070416000657464

  • Poor Safari Performance - not crashing though

The spinning beachball appears (no clues as to triggers)
    Safari is then unresponsive
If I activate another app (eg click on the desktop to activate finder, call up 'force quit' etc), Safari starts working again
Have uninstalled plugins (glims); still the same
The only pattern I can discern is that this seems to happen when multiple users are logged in with browser windows open. It hasn't happened (so far) with just my account logged in.
    Any ideas?

    HI,
Could be a corrupted Safari .plist file.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Now launch Safari. IIf Safari doesn't freeze (beachballs), move that .plist file to the Trash. If there isn't any difference, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder.
I see you uninstalled Glims but it could still be Safari third party add-ons causing the problem. Go here: Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Also, from the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons, click Reset. Relaunch Safari.
And go to your Apple Menu / Software Updates. Make sure your system software is up to date.
Remove any login items. Open System Preferences/Accounts then select the Login Items tab. Delete any documents or apps there. And go to MacintoshHD/Library/Startup Items. Same thing.

  • HP Split 13-m008tu x2 Multiple Defects(worst HP Service)

    Hello HP Officials,
    I have purchased
    HP Split 13-m008tu x2 on 7th Nov'13
    Product No. E6F70PA,
    Serial No. [Personal Information Removed]
From day one I am facing multiple issues with the Notebook.
    DEFECT OBSERVATION :
Whenever I use my Logitech MK220 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse then system gets hanged up & pointer of the mouse starts dangling but when I remove the battery of keyboard or the mouse then only one device works fine at a time i.e either the mouse or keyboard but simultaneously both doesnt work while checked on other notebooks same device work fine.
After few days I used dell wireless keyboard&mouse & found the same issue. But I ignored this issue this for future assuming minor one.
Second issue I observed when I started using datacard for internet, after the use of datacard for 2-3 or sometime 4-6 hrs,sim card fails to detect network even it stops detecting in mobiles thereafter. This way I have almost replaced 6-7 simcards after failure which according to retailer, simcards are getting shortcircuited.Assuming myself that retailer is wrong & problem might be with my datacard or simcard , I tried from other datacards also but resulted into same failure problem.
Thirdly the major & most irritating issue happened with me is files after opening from flashdrives or external harddisks,It gets automatically closed after few minutes or an hour,it can be frequently observed when you open & close the screen panel of the notebook, drive gets rebooted.I had this severe problem when I was showing presentation in a meeting in front of senior officials & PPT file got closed so many times during presentation.
All these have really frustrated me bcoz this newly brought notebook has so many issue.I had real faith on HP from so many past years and whole my family uses HP notebook & it has been always been my 1st preference so I recommended them to buy HP products. This is the reason I have bought this costly notebook IN PLACE OF APPLE MACBOOK but today I really feel repent on my decision.
I have tried onsite customer service but never got response & any visit. Finally when I went to delhi for official work & spared my time to get it checked from HP authorised service centre "JABIL Center,JASOLA DISTRICT CENTRE,JASOLA NEW DELHI 110025.
I told them these issues very clearly & shown them the demo also of external drive or flash drive getting rebooted.I was not having keyboard & mouse with me so told them to check them with theirs.
I submitted notebook on 9th Jan & since I was suppose to leave the city on 13th & told them that will take it back on 12th sat. evening.
Finally when I went there after getting call from them to take the notebook back as issue has been resolved but to my surprise nothing was resolved. They just updated the BIOS.Again I shown them the rebooting issue in front of the technician & he was like surprised & never known about this issue. It was so unsatisfying experience again & ended up by wasting my whole time. They ended up saying that comeagain to delhi & we will get you resolved from this issue & also they make us understand like we are illiterate on use of notebooks & their issue.
I dont understand whether HP professionals require this much huge time to diagnose issue even after detail description & demo of the problem in front.
After Repair from HP Service Centre :
Now sometimes even small movement or walk, the notebook reboots the docking station.
    Audio Jack not working properly.
Some Keys of keyboard appears hard to press & rest as earlier.
Already its too tough for me to spare my time from notebook as I have to work on it contineously. I dont know how much time you people will take it to resolve but this time unless & untill this whole newly purchased & defected notebook is replaced with newone I am not going to take it back from technician & I will reach to those person who will really get it finally replaced.
Looking Forward to listen from HP Officials & awaiting for positive intiative which will lead to customer satisfaction as per HP's quality pledge.
Please request you for DOA of this notebook.
    Thanks & Regards
    Dip Ranjan

    Hi @dipRanjan ,

  • Poor Safari Performance - Mountain Lion OS X

    Since downloading and doing a clean install of Mountain Lion OS X, I have had poor performance with internet browsing. With some of my own basic troubleshooting steps, I have determined its Safari is likely to be the culprit. Below are the scenarios;
    1. Ethernet; direct connect to 50 Mbps Modem/Router (Cisco DPC3825)
    2. WiFi; connected to signal broadcasted by Airport Extreme (3rd Gen) bridged to Cisco Modem/Router
    3. WiFi; connected to signal broadcasted by Cisco Modem/Router
*each scenario was tested on both my ISP's DNS, OpenDNS and Google's DNS.
Safari starts and loads home page (www.apple.com) just fine. Searching or navigating to other sites will require several seconds to minutes of delay, sometimes failing to load. Regardless of this slow performance loading pages; speeds from sites like speedtest.net show my ISP is providing adequate bandwidth, often over 50 Mbps.
I have several other devices on my network that work absolutely fine. ThinkPad T410, two Apple iPhone 5's, two Apple TVs 3rd Gen, xBox 360, Dish Hopper and Joey. All provide quick and speedy navigation. For example, movies load up quick via Netflix apps on both Apple TV and xBox. Safari on iPhone will load much quicker than Safari. Often I'll grab my phone getting tired of waiting for Safari to load and am able to pull it up on my phone quickly.
My current system is early 2009 iMac, 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo, 8 GB DDR3 memory. Again... a clean install of Mountain Lion.
Also, I loaded the latest FireFox and browsing is perfect. Fast and very responsive. However, using FireFox greatly degrades the Apple iCloud experience and I would greatly prefer to use Safari.
Any ideas on what I can try next to get my iMac back in tip top shape?

    I was able to make some configuration changes on my Cisco DPC3825 router, my speed is much better. I've tested it for a couple weeks now and have not had any lag in browsing. Here is what I changed;
    1. Log into the Cisco Router's control panel.
    2. Security > Firewall > Disable SPI Firewall Protection (and any filters that were selected by default or your ISP)
    3. Access Restrictions > Basic Rules > removed a site in the blocked domain list
    4. I then used Open DNS DNS servers and managed security using Open DNS.
Please take this information lightly, I am not a network expert. But these steps allowed me to get over the problems I listed above. I'm getting very fast speeds and just about 0 lag when browsing internet.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Google's "Talkgadget" opening multiple tabs in safari

While using Google Chrome (my secondary browser) the other day I must have accidently touched/swiped something using my TouchPad on my Google Plus site and since then I cannot stop multiple tabs from repeatedly opening in Safari, which is my default browser in Mountain Lion and the site on these tabs is "https://talkgadget.google.com.au".
Does anyone know how to stop this annoying occurence?

As "talkgadget" has been discontinued by Google each of the tabs understandably showed blank web pages.
Anyway I think I may have solved the problwm by emptying the cache in Safari. Time will tell.
    Thanks,

  • How to open multiple websites using Safari

Just wondering why i can only open one web site at a time with safari. I have to close the site I'm looking at to open another. Can anybody tell me why. Thanks very much.

Hi sucros, Welcome to Apple's Users Help Users Forums.
A follow up on Reggie. I have all my usual ones in a folder on the bookmarks bar. At the bottom of the list is Open All in Tabs.
They can update together. Only one is up on the screen so no clutter.
I used to minimize them to get them out of the way and had multiples open. I like the tab mode better.
de gustibus non est disputandum (?) In the matters of taste there is no dispute.
    Happy Holidays, JP

  • Multiple issues with Safari

As of this morning my Safari appears to be performing faster, although not consistently; however, youtube will load but cannot view videos, news video will not load, and I cannot listen to the radio via my computer (no streamming). Any assistance is appreciated.

If you are having problems playing MPEG4 video in Quicktime 7.4 (and Apple are aware that some users have had such problems) you should carefully check in
    /Library/Quicktime and
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins and
    Home/Library/Quicktime
to check whether you have any third party plug-ins that are not completely up to date.
Current versions of Flip4Mac and DiVX and Perian do NOT cause failure alone or in combination. However the one SPECIFIC extension that ALWAYS causes the failure alone or in groups is 3ivxMediaImp. All other 3ivx extensions DO work. Remove only that ONE SPECIFIC extension.
Please try this and see if it fixes your problem with QT Player, the QT Firefox Plugin, and iTunes not playing MPEG4 files (including mp4 files).
Older 3ivx and DivX components are often incompatible with new QuickTime versions and are, in many cases, obviated by component packs like Perian.
This is not the only explanation for issues with MPEG4 file playback in QuickTime 7.4 and later, however. The issue with some videos from YouTube, democracynow.org and others, for instance, is the result of that content not complying with MPEG4 standards (namely that they use bogus track dimensions). QuickTime had previously ignored invalid track dimensions but this was changed in order to support properly authored anamorphic content.
The recent update to QT 7.4.1 has fixed a number of issues but some problems are unavoidable when working with non-standards compliant content. The standards are important for many reasons including keeping hackers from manipulating improperly coded web pages.
However, there is a workaround (also the basis for why those files will still play in iTunes): there are a few ways to trick QuickTime into ignoring the invalid track data. For instance, rename the files .3GP and they'll show up just fine.
Post back if you want a list of the plug-ins you should have in order to play pretty much anything in Quicktime.
