Multiple Detailed Questions

All questions are rather minor, but answer them assuming that I have the unlimited everything plan. Since I'm considering to buy the iphone 16gb version, I had a few detailed questions before I bought it.
1. Does iphone have the mail option integrated in the messaging system so it automatically recieves email without having to go through the browser and log in and all?
2. If so is it compatible with any pop3/smtp server of choosing? (I do webdesigning so I have my own mail servers)
3. Does it allow me to set the retreival period and automatically retrieves mail every retrieval cycle?
4. Does it store all my mail on the phone memory(16gb assumed)?
5. And does it store all sms' in the phone memory? Any specific limitation of sms storage capacity?
6. Will it work the same if I bought it unlocked as if I bought it from at&t? (I already have an at%t sim card & plan with another unlocked smartphone)
7. Does the safari browser support flash, java, & other minor addons? (Such as flash player, adobe flash player, etc.)
If anyone could answer these questions for me, I would appreciate it.

Yes. If you use Yahoo mail it appears immediately. For other mail you can either set automatic retrieval every 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or set it to manual. Manual means it will retrieve email when you open the mail application.

If the server supports authentication of the user. SSL is optional.
3. Does it allow me to set the retreival period and automatically retrieves mail every retrieval cycle?

Yes and no. It stores headers. It doesn't download the bodies until you open the mail folder for IMAP. For POP3 it stores the whole message, excluding graphics.

You can't buy it unlocked from Apple. If you buy it unlocked from other sources it has no warranty and you cannot call Apple for support or post questions here about it. If it is unlocked Visual Voicemail and Yahoo Push email will not work.
7. Does the safari browser support flash, java, & other minor addons? (Such as flash player, adobe flash player, etc.)
No Flash or Java. Supports Javascript and ASP.

You can place the less detailed fields in the regular sections of the report and wherever you require multiple lines you can use the subreports.

Example of how to create a master-multiple detail PDF report using BI Pub

Hi,
Are there any examples out there on how to do this? Basically for each master record from table A,
need multiple related detail records from table B AND multiple related detail records from table C.
Ie. A is master to B and A is master to C.
For master-single detail reports, writing a single query that joins master to detail works fine,
but for master-multiple detail reports, I don't see how this approach will work.

I'm searching for an app to help study for an exam.
Part of the studying strategy is to study by the previous exams questions. I have those (a lot of them) in text format.
The app would need to have:
- Support for multiple-choice questions;
- Easy, fast and automated way of importing the questions;
Would be nice to have:
- Ability to include a rich-text comment along with the right/wrong answer;
- Support for tagging each questions.

Multiple Choice Question Issues

I am embedding a quiz within my presentation with individual
question slides interspersed throughout the presentation. These
questions are pulled from a couple of different question pools. I
want to use a multiple choice question that branches to different
parts of the presentation depending on the correct or incorrect
answer. If the user answers the question incorrectly, I send them
to the next slide which has two click boxes. On this slide, they
can either click one box to move back in the presentation and
review the material or click another box to move them forward to
another multiple choice question. If they go back and review the
information, they would eventually return to the same multiple
choice question to try it again. (This is the desired navigation,
anyway.)
What actually happens is that when the user goes back to
review the information and then finally returns to the question,
the question has not been reset and still shows the incorrect
answer marked with no way to clear it.
I have used this same navigation on a drag-and-drop type
question and it works fine. All the settings for the
multiple-choice questions are set the same as in the drag-and-drop
question.
Any help in making this work correctly would be greatly
appreciated.

I can't see where that error might arise except possibly for a case where an AS2 radio is used since it appears they don't have a group property, but an AS3 radio button does. Check to be sure that your Flash Publish Settings are set to use AS3. AS3 errors normally have error numbers which also makes the error you quoted ring of an AS2 scenario.

Add Multiple Detail Items Using the Same Query String Parameter

I am using InfoPath 2010 and SharePoint 2010.
I have 2 forms libraries - Expense and Expense Details.
The 2 libraries are linked via a custom site column Expense ID.
The Expense form contains the main header type info you would typically find on an expense report; e.g., name, purpose, department, etc.
The Expense Details form contains multiple detail expenses related to the main expense report such as airfare, rental car, etc.
I have created a page that displays an expense report with all of the related expense detail items.
The page contains a link to add a new expense detail and passes the Expense ID of the Expense form to the Expense Detail form.
This all works fine. The problem comes in after the first expense detail form is submitted.
I can successfully submit the first detail item. However, the expense detail form loses the Expense ID that was passed to it after the first expense detail form has been submitted.
The parameter still shows in the URL but the detail form no longer shows the value of the parameter.
What do I need to do in order to be able to add multiple expense detail items using the same Expense ID that was passed to the form?
I have tried using a Submit Behavior of Open a new form, Close the form, and Leave the form open.
None of these options give me what I need. Thanks for your help.

does work. You have to add an extra Info Path Web Form for it to work. I know, you can roll your eyes.<o:p></o:p>
Steps.<o:p></o:p>
1. Add Query String<o:p></o:p>
2. Add the extra Info Path form to the page. This form will be a hidden on the page and will receive the value from the query string.<o:p></o:p>
3. Add your original Info Path form and have it receive a parameter from the hidden Info Path form.<o:p></o:p>
Now, when you hit save and it opens a new form the 3 Info Path form will function properly. <o:p></o:p>

Master with multiple details

(JHeadstart release 10.1.2.) I can make a master with multiple detail pages work (displayed on the same page or different pages), except under one condition. Assume the following situation:
Master: View object A based on entity A
Detail 1: View object B based on entity B with a modified WHERE clause
Detail 2: View object C based on entity B (yes, same entity object as view object B) with a WHERE clause different than the one for view object B
A one-to-many view link exists between view object A and view object B, and another exists between view object A and view object C. The query for each of the view objects is standard (i.e., no expert-mode queries). The master and the two detail view objects (via their respective view links) are assigned to an application module.
I created a JHeadstart application structure file for the application module with Struts and UIX. I added view object A as the top group (table-form layout). I next added view object B as a detail group (form layout, same page) beneath view object A. I finally added view object C as a detail group (form layout, same page) beneath view object A (i.e., parallel to view object B). The module generated and built cleanly.
I ran the application, entered a master record, and saved the data. When I pressed the button to create a new record for detail 1 (view object B), fields appeared for the pages for detail 1 and detail 2 (view object C), not just detail 1. Also, the value of the Descriptor Attribute from the master record that linked it to the two detail pages populated the corresponding field in both of the displayed pages for the detail records.
This behavior does not occur if view object C (detail 2) is based on an entity different than view object B. Will JHeadstart allow a master to have multiple details where the details are based on the same entity object? Thanks.

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce the problem. I filled in the A, B and C using a scott/tiger schema as follows:
A: Departments
B: All employees having a salary < 1000
C: All employees having a salary >= 1000
Then I created an application module with one group having two subgroups everything same page, just like you specified. Everything seemed to work fine. Do you have any idea what's different in your situation.

Multiple Details Sections in the same report

I'm trying to take two different columns from a fact table, and display them in one column on the report. So I'll then have the charge quantities (grouped and summarized) listed above the charge amounts (grouped and summarized) across months (columns).
Is there any way to have multiple detail sections in the same report, something like below? I tried sub reporting, but you can't subreport a subreport. I also tried cross tabs, but they're not flexible enough in the groupings I'm looking for.

Ok, so here's the rundown.
Create a page with one "master" html region. In that region create your standard text/date/etc. items. Make sure that one of these is a hidden key field that is the key linking the master and details portions. Use a calculation to pre-populate the field from a sequence (or whatever uniqueness generator you choose). It is important to generate this key up front for the processing.
Next I created one report region for each detail table I wanted to link in. Make sure to count the total number of fields you want to work with and that the total is LESS than 50. This is critical. The report should be selecting the columns from APEX_COLLECTIONS for display and manipulation on the screen. It is best to explicitly associate these to the Javascript column numbers now. I used a process to pre-populate my detail entry areas with default values for ease. I also included a button to add a row to each area, but you have to be careful here to use a good combination of form attributes so that the page refreshes don't SUBMIT yet.
Once you have a report region generated from APEX_COLLECTIONS, you have to create the update processes that pull the information from the user modifications into the collection. This is the trickiest part of the whole thing. You have to use the APEX_COLLECTION.UPDATE_ITEM method, and you have to refer to the JavaScript column numbers for the source value and the collection column number for the destination. It is really easy to get these confused - I advise putting this all into a document or on a whiteboard for reference.
Once you have the update processes written (I prefer writing one update process per detail section), write your processes to write the data to the database. Again, I suggest one process for each detail table. Trigger them to fire on submit.
I also suggest creating a debug page to display all of the various collections and to help keep things straight. Once you have one detail area working, it is easier to get the others working.

i tried to create workbook in the discoverer user edition with ONE MASTER TABLES AND MULTIPLE DETAL TABLES. but it does not allow . is there any solution ?

I've given up on trying to do this in the user edition - the 2 masters to multiple details. Instead, I create custom folders in the admin edition. They never complain about masters and details. If anyone ever figures out how to do this in the User Edition, I'd sure like to hear about it. I do agree that the original problem - 1 master to multiple details works fine in 3.1.44.

Single Master, multiple details add-rows problem

Hi, hope to get a replay at least this time (last threads have gone unreplied :-( )
We've built a master-multiple details table. Everything in visualization has worked OK until we've got the need to add rows to each
detail table separately (i.e. for same master row, one could add N rows to one detail and M rows to the other).
Keeping the standard "addRows" table buttons doesn't work because the same addRows event is fired for both the subtables, so
adding a row in one just adds a row also to the other, until a dedlock situation is reached.
So we tried to set a different button so we could intercept the originator table (SOURCE_PARAM) in the processForm but here we're facing
some big problems.
First at all, the methods and names are correct: we've tried to use the same code (cut and paste) for the table putting the inner table "outside"
and buttons are working as expected.
But when the detail table is put back "within" the master, what happens is that the AM method called by pFR in the Controller is executed, so
we reach the end of the processFormRequest, but at this time something happens and we get the exception error message reported more below.
I've read that via the VL it is not the original detail VO instance which is showed, so wonder if the error has something to do with that...
So to summarize:
1) all the objects exist and are ok, and the VL is defined OK; and indeed the standard AddRows management works (as said, the problem
is that we need to differentiate two different details...)
2) the methods are OK as they work as soon as the details are put outside the master table.
Any suggestion ? Do we need to refer to a specific details VO instance ???

Multiple choise question, limit number of options

Hi,
we have a multiple choise question with 10 possible answers. 5 is correct, and 5 is not. How can I limit so the user only can check 5 answers? Right now, the user can check all 10 and get full score.

I am relatively new to Captivate (currently using version 7) and have also been looking at this. I have a programming background so have been mucking around with trying to create this using advanced actions so would appreciate some advice if I've gone about it the right way or not.
I have created 4 answers with clickable smart shapes to show whether they are selected/deselected. I have variables to store the number of allowed answers, number of selected answers and question score (which update with the selecting/deselecting of each answer). To keep things simple, I am assigning 1 point for every correct answer selected and only have 2 correct answers. There are 3 separate 'submit' buttons (one worth 0 points and not included in quiz, one worth 1 point included in quiz and one with 2 points included in quiz). Depending on the answers chosen, the relevant submit button will be made visible (and the others hidden).
What I'm having trouble with is that the points from the submit buttons that are included in the quiz are all contributing to the total points available. I want the question to only be worth 2 points but because I have two buttons (one worth 1 and one worth 2) that means the total points available for the quiz is 3.
Any help on where to go from here much appreciated.

Problems underlaying multiple detail sections

I'm having difficulty with Crystal XI - report has multiple detail sections, I would like to underlay them so they appear on top of each other, but I just can't get it to work.

Your explanation isn't detailed enough to allow someone to help. I'd suggest two courses of action:
1) Run the data and form through Central with tracing turned on. This will provide you with detailed information on what is happening when and why. You should be able to see what's triggering the subforms.
2) Post another note, this time with an example of your data and a more detailed explanation of your result (e.g. I have 3 details and 3 totals and they're coming out in the following order D1,D2,D3,T1,T2,T3 instead of D1, T1, D2, T2, D3, T3) and I'll try to help.
