I interpreted his post to mean that he meant multiple human users, not multiple devices.  Hopefully, he'll clarify.

  • HT204053 Can I search or locate different iPhone devices using one apple ID?

    Hello!
Can I search or locate different iphone devices using one apple I.D.?
    Thanks!

You can only use Find My iPhone for accounts that you can log into.  If you and your neighbor have different IDs and you only know your ID, than you can only track devices attached to your account.

  • How do I use iCloud if I have multiple devices using one computer/library, but I don't want contacts, calender, etc. to be shared? Can each device have it's own Apple ID and still pull music, apps, etc. from one library?

Both my mother, father, and I recently got iPhones. We've all had iPods in the past and been able to survive under a single Apple ID/iCloud account. Now that we all have iPhones, we've heard a couple horror stories about parents and kids contacts and calenders merging when they are registered under the same Apple ID. What steps should we take to avoid this problem? We would still like to be able to share the same music, apps, videos, etc. If we all get individual Apple IDs, can we still all use the same iTunes library we have on our computer without any pitfalls?
Thank you! A response would be much appreciated(:

You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs.  (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.)  This will prevent you from ending up with merged data.  You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.

  • HT204053 can you have multiple devices on one apple id?

i ahve added a new iphone to may wireless account but both phones are now using the same apple id.

Not sure what your question is? You can have multiple devices signed on to the same Apple ID. Do you have any other questions concerning that?

  • Multiple devices on one apple ID

I have 3 devices on my apple ID. 2 of the devices are mine and the ipad is my sisters. I want to get the ipad onto a different new apple ID . 1) how do I do that? 2) If I do, will It delete all my stuff of the ipad?

You can setup as new and use a new Apple ID but all purchased apps are tied to the old Apple ID and is not transferable to the new ID.
Setting up as new will delete all the stuff on your iPad.

  • Using Passbook on multiple devices with one Apple ID?

My wife and I each have an iPhone 4S, and we each have an iPod Touch. We use a single Apple ID on all devices (mine). I'm the only one that's really even using Passbook, but Passbook alerts are popping up on all four devices. When I use my Starbucks card, all 4 devices receive the alert. When I use my AMEX, all four devices are alerted. I want to either disable Passbook on three of the four devices, or figure out how to tie Passbook on those devices to a secondary Apple ID.

If you want to share an apple id, but not passbook, you can turn off syncing on her device under settings > iCloud > passbook.

  • 5 devices using one Apple id

We have 2 iPhones, 1 iPad, and 2 iPod touches all set up using the same apple id. The iPods were christmas presents to our kids and we are having problems with the iMessages and Facetime from the iPods going to our phones. Do we need to reset their iPods to use different id's and if we do will they still be able to share music purchases and app purchases with us?

The do not need separate IDs just separate email addresses

  • Setting up iCloud After iOS 6 for multiple devices and one Apple ID

We have a shared Apple ID for our iTunes Store purchases.  We share a Mac, and we share an iPad.  Each of us has a separate iPhone.
How should we set up iCloud to enable us to download pics that we take with our iPhone automatically to iPhoto on our shared Mac?
How can we maximize the 5GB space in iCloud?
How can we share calendars if needed so that if I edit an item on my iPhone, it automatically updates it on our Mac and my husband's iPhone?
I want to be able to leverage "Find iPhone" but I guess you can only have one device set to one iCloud account, correct?  So if I lose my iPhone, I don't want all of our devices starting to ping at the same time (since the only one I'm trying to find is mine).
Separately, after upgrading to iOS 6, I lost my contacts, and my music.  All my text message contacts in current conversations, were changed from the Contact Name to Phone numbers.  And all the phone numbers now have a 1 ahead of them, despite the fact that I did not set it up originally like that.
    HELP!

  • FaceTime with Multiple Devices and one Apple ID

What happens with FaceTime when I use the same Apple ID for my IPad and my IPhone 5?  What do I need to do to manage which device receives FaceTime messages?

Create Apple IDs for everyone individually and use that in Settings > Facetime, Settings > Messages, Settings > Game Center but keep the Apple ID used for app and content purchases in Settings > iTunes and App Stores

  • Problems with multiple devices using same apple ID

I have a Macbook, iPad and iPhone. After doing an IOS update now my devices keep saying I cannot use that same appleid because it's already taken. I cannot find away around this and want to know experience of others

That warning occurs only if you try to create a new Apple ID using an email address already in use. An existing Apple ID can be used with mutiple devices.
What exactly did you do when you got that message?

I have 3 iphones and an ipad all using the same apple ID.  Do I need to create a new apple ID for all of these devices?  If so, will I be able to transfer the music from the original apple ID onto the new apple ID's?

    No.
If they are yours and you are using them, I recommend you use the same AppleID for all.
(Why do you have 3 iPhones?)
If these devices are "yours" but someone else uses them (such as family), I recommend they get their own AppleID and use it for those devices.

  • Multiple devices using same apple id.  How do i break it up?

I have 2 iphones one ipad and 2 ipod touches all sharing the same apple id.  I want to add a new apple id for my wife and her iphone and ipod touch.  How do I do this and how can we share our bought items?

Purchased items are tied to the ID, you can create a new one for your wife but you won't be able to transfer the content.

  • Setting up multiple devices on one apple id

I've purchased a new Ipad with the intent of setting it up under my pre-existing apple id.  The apple id already has 2 other Ipads on it (this will be 3).  I set everything up today and went to download an app and was met with the 'Your Apple ID has been disabled.' notification.  I did some research and saw that I should reset my ID.  I'd prefer not to do that b/c then I would have to go and change all the device passwords.  I am able to log onto itunes, etc. Just not able to download apps.

Apple disabled your Apple ID because of many attempts to access your account unsuccessfully.  I don't think there is a way to get around this without resetting your password.  I know it frustrating and causes more work but in the end you will be safer if you go ahead and reset your password.

I have an iPhone 5 and use facetime, I have bought my children iPod touches for xmas and want them to also be able to use FaceTime, how will I link 3 people to the same account and be able to facetime each other? Is this possible?

No, you would essentially be calling yourself if you use the same apple id. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4319
