Multiple devices, multiple users, multiple accounts.... unwanted merge

My husband and I accidentally synced phones to each others iTunes account. I am 75% sure that I know how this happened, so that we can avoid it in the future. The problem is that his apps are mixed in with mine on all devices, the Mac, the iPad, and both of our iPhones... even though we have separate accounts. Our contacts have merged as well through iCloud (even though I only created my iCloud account today).  Its been so frustrating that if it weren't for losing all music and contacts in my accounts, I'd be willing to delete all info just to get things clear again... but really hoping that I don't have to resort to that extreme. How can we undo all of the confusion and regain our separate devices?

Cannot be done. Only one instance of iTunes can be open at a time.

  • Can I have multiple devices on one iCloud account

can I have multiple devices on one iCloud account? Like a iPad and Mac Book Pro
If so how can I do this?

Sure. That is what iCloud is meant for, so you can keep your devices synced.
When you set up iCloud on the devices, use the same Apple ID on all devices, then the iCloud account will be the same.

  • I have multiple devices on the same account, can I increase my cloud allowance without paying extra?

Each device gives 5gig but multiple devices on the same account don't increase the cloud space. Do Apple recognise this and help?

Wow that's really harsh. Both my wife and daughter have disabilities and the idea of having one ID is to allow me to be able to track them quickly in times of emergency through 'find my iphone'. I did not realise this was 'creating a mess'.  I thought support communities were intended to, you know, support people with genuine questions like mine not to rush to criticism. Unfortunately both answers to my question have been negative.
I am not being harsh, the truth is you are really creating problems for yourself e.g. calendars, contacts, etc. are all mixed up.
Support Communities are there to show you how to use the devices as intended, the "criticism" is about how you use the devices and not about you as a person. We are trying to help if you can listen.
You can use Find My Friends instead of Find My iPhone for your purpose.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
They can all share your iMessages, just make sure the settings on each device are set to send and receive from the same numbers and addresses.

  • Linking multiple devices and different game accounts on one gamecentre

Hi I have multiple accounts on multiple devices on one Game Centre account but I want to link a specific one to my new iPad ? Just wondering if this is possible as I have bought my partner an iPad but it will only link my clash of clans progress to the iPad from my phone but I want it to link her progress ?? Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks!

    1. Give her a separate user account on your computer. If you have a backup copy of the library, you can restore it.
    2. If you encounter a 90-day waiting period, click here and ask the iTunes Store staff if they'll remove it.

  • Divorcing multiple devices from one itunes account

We have one Apple ID / iTunes account with multiple devices attached. I would like to divorce all devices and have each member of the family with their own Apple ID/itunes, but don't want to lose the content (music etc) that has been accumulated over time. How do we do this?

Your iTunes collection is individual to computer, not in the cloud somewhere and synchronizing to your computer from there.  In other words, if you delete a file on one computer it will still be on the others until you delete it from there.  Likewise, if it is on one computer that is not a guarantee it will be on other computers. The closest to this is some of the automated downloading Apple does if you buy things from them.   You will just need to make sure your desktop is really up to date before wiping your media from the other computers.

  • What is the best way to have multiple devices on the same account so we can still share the same library.  Right now I have 7 and I believe it's causing them to malfunction.

I have multiple devices on the same itunes library and they all starting to have the same issues.  Not recognizing numbers previously stored, not sending/receiving tests.  Do I need to get everyone separate itunes accounts?

What is the best way to set up itunes on our home network?
One iTunes library per person.  One iTunes account per person.
If people wish to share songs, they can make copies.
When the inevitable day comes when the kids get older, you will not have to come back here and post asking how all that stuff can get separated!

Settings > iCloud > Sign in with the desired Apple ID.

The two above can be different Apple IDs, mine are.

  • HT3406 HOW DO I USE MULTIPLE DEVICES ON THE SAME ACCOUNT WITHOUT CONFLICTS ESPECIALLY USING FACETIME ?

    Please help,
My daughter has an Ipod, I have an Iphone. Both are on my account. When she facetimes me, I will not go through. It looks to her Ipod like I am calling myself. How do I fix this?
    Thanks, kniproduction

An iPhone can only be connected to a single copy of iTunes at a time for music, movies and videos, whether or not you set it to be manually managed. Manual management only allows you to control what you put on the iPhone; unlike with other models of iPod, it does not allow you to connect the iPhone to multiple computers. If you move the iPhone to another copy of iTunes, it will erase all the content and there's no way I know of to get around it. The only way to have all the same content on your iPhone when you connect to another computer is to get all that content into iTunes on the computer first.
Why that is I don't know, but that's the way it is.
'm well aware that there exist programs where I can pull everything off my phone and put it back on once its resynced, but I'm looking for different options.
There are no other options that I've heard of.

  • Multiple devices with one iClould account - Please help

My husband and I use the same iCloud account. If we both do a back-up, get new devices (we're looking at upgrading our iPhones), and log back into iCloud, will all of his stored info show up on my phone. We don't want that to happen, but we would like to be able to share music/purchases. Is that possible? Or should we be on seperate iCloud accounts? Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Ideally you should each have your own iCloud account, that way you can each manage your own mail, contacts, calendars, documents etc and avoid unintentional deletions and unwanted editing. If there is information you wish to share between you, this can be done with a secondary account.
Having separate iCloud accounts, doesn't mean you have to have separate iTunes accounts, so whilst you keep your personal data separate, you can continue to share music, apps, books, TV shows, movies etc.

  • Multiple devices on same apple account

My children were given new ipod touches for Christmas. Now I have four devices on my Apple ID and the kids have access to my aps and contacts.
How do I take their devices off my account and set them up their own?
    Thanks in advance,
    Joe

First of all , you need to create them an apple ID - you can do this on iTunes or online at https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/createAppleId?loca lang=en_US ! Then you can manually sign out of iTunes , Email , FaceTime etc , or you can reset the device (which will ovcourse delete all the content on the iPod) and then log in with their apple ID ! - Remember when creating an apple ID you have to use an email , but it can't be yours so you'll have to use a diffrent email ! Hope this helps !

  • Apps per "playlist"? Using multiple devices to one itunes account.

    Hi,
    Perhaps it's a silly question...but I run into a sync issue.
we have itunes running on one PC, and have two ipod touches and one ipad, all under the same apple account.
When I synced my new ipad, itunes tried to sync all my 100+ ipod apps on my pc to my ipad....That was not the idea, so I cancelled and put the apps I wanted (10 or so) on my ipad "by hand"
Is there a way to create lists (playlists?) with apps PER device? So that you can only sync that specific list to that specific ipod or ipad?
    Thx, FF

However, when I connected my "fresh" iPad, it immediately started to sync (set to automatic sync), and started to put all my 100 or so iPod Touch apps to my iPad....They were all checked.
It's been a while since I connected a fresh iPad, but I believe that doing a full sync is the default. Stopping the sync and changing what apps you wanted was the correct procedure.
So, next time I connect the iPad, it "knows" which apps need to synced, and does not try to sync "all" apps?
Correct. I do that all the time with my two iPads, each of which have a different set of apps, music, videos, etc.
    Regards.

  • Transferring files from Multiple Devices to 1 ITunes Account

I have three Apple devices, an ITouch, an IPhone and an IPad and one ITunes account.
I'm trying to fill my Itunes library with all my files from each of my devices, the files differ so on one I have a tv series the other two don't have this, then I have albums I've imported from CD's on my IPad but they're not on my computer or other device as I have a new computer.
Is it possible to transfer all files from each device to my itunes ? If so how ? The only options I can seem to find is to update the Idevices from my Itunes and not the other way around ?

No problem, it is still much the same advice but you'll need to use third party tools to extract the data.
See this post from forum regular Zevoneer for some options.
If there is a chance that you've got some overlap you might want to use my DeDuper script. See this  thread for background.

  • How to use multiple devices on one itunes account

I have one itunes account, three iphones and one itouch.  How do we use the same itunes account be not share data, pictures, contacts etc?

Connect the iOS device, select it from the left column under "devices" and just don't check those items in iTunes:
Un-check the appropriate boxes for Contacts, etc. You can set these individual preferences for each iPhone and iPod Touch.

In my house, we have 2 iPhones, 2 iPods, and an iPad mini.  Seems like everytime we add a device, they are registering under the same account.  How do I correct that problem without restoring each device?
