Multiple devices on one hotel internet subscription

Hi
I have found myself with an issue. I have an airport express and multiple network devices I want to use in an hotel room. The hotel requires a fee per 24 hours with a login screen. I have tried and configured the express to use bridged mode and also to distribute a range of IP address’s. When
I use each device they all first go to the logon screen requiring a fee. Now I have had this up and running in another hotel where I was able to bypass the login screen once the first device was logged in.
I think that the issue may be that I used the laptop this morning to login and pay the fee, and maybe the hotel network is using the laptop mac address as the device the fee has been paid against. I have set the express with the IP the laptop received and disrupted IP’s to the other devices with no luck.
I may just have to wait 24 hours to pay the fee again using a device behind the express. Which should see the express mac address as the device requiring internet service.
Anyone have another idea’s
Thanks

All correct except for #5, which may or may not work. Hotels are rapidly starting to charge for each device that connects and the hotel router will know when you try to connect another device.
That's why I suggested the Share a public IP address setting. In this setting, (which worked for the other user) the hotel router only sees one device...the AirPort Express. It does not know how many devices are connected to the AirPort Express in this setting. In bridge mode, it does.
Remember there are never any guarantees with hotel connections. What works at one hotel will not work at another. You need to be able to make adjustments and configuration changes on the fly according to the circumstances at hand. In other words, it's really not possible to pre-configure the Airport Express for any hotel connection.

  • Can I have multiple devices on one iCloud account

can I have multiple devices on one iCloud account? Like a iPad and Mac Book Pro
If so how can I do this?

Sure. That is what iCloud is meant for, so you can keep your devices synced.
When you set up iCloud on the devices, use the same Apple ID on all devices, then the iCloud account will be the same.

The two above can be different Apple IDs, mine are.

  • Divorcing multiple devices from one itunes account

We have one Apple ID / iTunes account with multiple devices attached. I would like to divorce all devices and have each member of the family with their own Apple ID/itunes, but don't want to lose the content (music etc) that has been accumulated over time. How do we do this?

Your iTunes collection is individual to computer, not in the cloud somewhere and synchronizing to your computer from there.  In other words, if you delete a file on one computer it will still be on the others until you delete it from there.  Likewise, if it is on one computer that is not a guarantee it will be on other computers. The closest to this is some of the automated downloading Apple does if you buy things from them.   You will just need to make sure your desktop is really up to date before wiping your media from the other computers.

  • HT1351 Syncing multiple devices on one iMac

Need help on syncing multiple devices with different content on one iMac so each device  remains unique. How's is that done? Do not want apps copied over, I  want each device to have its own apps pictures music etc....

Plug your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad into iTunes via the USB dock cable.
Find it listed under Devices in the left sidebar and click on it.
Go through the tabs on the top of the iTunes window and select the music, movies, apps, podcasts, etc. you want to sync.
Your selection can include none, all/automatic, or just the exact content you wish.
    Sync!
    Repeat with all yourdevices.
    Or you can do this:
Option+Click on the iTunes icon and choose Create Library and go from there.
Switching library is just an Option+Click away, this means you can choose 2 diff libraries.

  • HT1495 how can i sync aps on multiple devices on one computer

Trying to use multiple devices on same computer but don't want the devices to have all the same aps.  how can i seperate that without having to check the aps i want each time a sync?

Assuming the photos are in an iPhoto Library on the Air and you want to import them into your iPhoto Library on your Powermac there is an application that can copy all photos in the Air library that are not in your Powermac library into your Powermac library.  However, no keywords or other metadeata willl be brought over with them and they will come over in a new event each time you run it. Take a look at: Sync iPhoto libraries | SyncPhotos (formerly iPhotoSync) | Haystack Software.
There's another application,  iPhoto Library Manager, that will let you copy events or albums from the Air library to the Powermac library. However, you will have to select the events/albums you want to copy. It's not automatic.  This method will copy keywords and other metadata along with the photos.

  • Multiple devices sharing one acct. iMessage gets tangled

how can my multiple devices use the same iTunes on PC, same purchashing on iTunes and not get the imessages and other icloud functions tangled between devices

To keep your text messages separated, everyone should use a different Apple ID for iMessage on their devices.  You can still share the same iTunes ID and have different IDs for other services such as iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc.
To change IDs, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID.  To avoid getting eadh other's FaceTime calls, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

  • Multiple devices on one router (E1200)

Hello, I've been having this issue with my E1200 ever since I got it. It just can't handle more than one computer. With just my computer connected playing League of Legends, the connection is fine usually about 30-40 Mbps with 100 ping and no lag and I have the 50 down and 5 up from Time Warner (It's not TWC's fault because when I test it connected to the modem I get maximum speeds). But as soon as another computer goes on the Internet or does some simple browsing or video watching, the speeds decrease drastically for both computers down to less than 10 Mbps and gaming is horrendous getting pings ranging from 400-1000 constant. I've been in contact with Linksys support free many times but I can't anymore because to do not wish to spend money for support that should've solved this problem by now. They've told me to configure settings such as turning off WMM, reducing MTU to the appropriate number and changing security mode to WPA2 personal but none of those things made it able to support more than 1 computer without speed drops. I need help because it drives me nuts lagging constantly and I've restored the router so many times already.

That is pretty much my experience with that router (E1200v2), but only when a device with a poor signal is connected. If you get the offending device closer to the router, you may notice that the lag does not occur. It seems like the router behaves like this (affecting all connected devices) only when it's forcing itself through a weak signal.
    Things that help:
    - Connect the PC/console you play on via a wired connection. Wired connections are not affected by this issue
    - Optimize your wireless settings: Get rid of 2.4 GHz phones, baby monitors, etc. (if you have any), and use inSSIDer to determine and use the best possible channel in your home
    Things that don't help;
    - Messing with WMM (leave it always enabled, unless some issue forces you to disable it)
    - Using WPA2. Use it anyway, though. Never use WEP or leave your network open
    - DMZ/Port Forwarding/Triggering
    - Setting Up Internet Access Priority. This is not an Internet bandwidth issue, but a physical signal issue, apparently

  • ICloud Sync - Multiple devices and one AppleID

So your contacts and calendar will sync automatically between your Mac, iPhone, iPad.  And you can backup your stuff.  And it does this based on your AppleID.
I, like I suspect many others, have an iPhone and iPad for me and my significant other.  And we have two Macs.  We both used the same AppleID.  We clearly would not want to "merge" our contacts and calendars, or any backups.
Why do we share an AppleID?  So we only have to purchase music, iOS apps, Mac apps, once for the family.  Multiple AppleIDs is not an option as that negates a primary benefit of the Apple ecosystem.  Apple has been pretty family friendly up to this point.  You can share an AppleID with 5 devices today (if you have that many Macs or PCs), in my case we are talking 2.  And they did still say you can buy Lion in the app store and use it on all your AppleID authorized machines.
I suppose you could maybe just turn all that stuff off and forget the iCloud part of Lion and iOS5.  But I have to believe that is going to cut out a significant segment of the population from using iCloud services.
Anyone know how Apple is going to handle that situation?

OK, here is how do make this work.  All the details I can think of to give . ..
On any IOS device there is an entry for the Apple ID to be used for store purchases.  You will find this in Settings > Store.
On any IOS device there are several Apple ID entries for using iCloud services.  You will find these in Settings > iCloud and Settings > Messages.
Then there are also Apple ID entries in some apps, like Facetime, Find my Friends, . . .
Set them as you wish.  If you have a shared family Apple ID for purchases then put that one in Store.  And give each family member their own Apple ID for iCloud.
This is also true on your Mac.  For the iCloud settings you can use one Apple ID, and a different one for the iTunes store.
Cannot get any easier than that.
In my case I am using one Apple ID for the Store, and separate iCloud Apple IDs for each family member.  That way someone does not use the wrong ID and trash the person who would be using the Store Apple ID.  There is no personal data on the Store Apple ID.  Seems much safer and logical that way (to me).  However, there is no reason why you could not have the Store Apple ID also be used by one person for iCloud.
Not sure what else can be said here.  Apple provided a good solution for those of us who have been sharing an Apple ID in the family.  Thanks Apple!

  • Sync multiple devices with one iTunes library without apps

    Hi,
I've got multiple iOS devices in the house (not all are mine).
Each person has his own iTunes account with their app purchases, while we share the same iTunes music library under one account on the Mac.
What I want to do is to sync the music on all the devices but NOT sync the apps and NOT keep them on the Mac.
I want that every device has his own set of apps but they are not copied on the Mac. May I just disable syncing of apps and delete them from the Mac?
What happens if I want to restore my device? I should have the apps data in the backup right? But how can I restore the apps themselves? (if the answer is possibile only with iOS 5 and iCloud is fine, because all our devices are going to be updated to iOS 5 and I can wait until its release)
    Thanks for your help!

Your iTunes collection is individual to computer, not in the cloud somewhere and synchronizing to your computer from there.  In other words, if you delete a file on one computer it will still be on the others until you delete it from there.  Likewise, if it is on one computer that is not a guarantee it will be on other computers. • How do I use iCloud if I have multiple devices using one computer/library, but I don't want contacts, calender, etc. to be shared? Can each device have it's own Apple ID and still pull music, apps, etc. from one library?

Both my mother, father, and I recently got iPhones. We've all had iPods in the past and been able to survive under a single Apple ID/iCloud account. Now that we all have iPhones, we've heard a couple horror stories about parents and kids contacts and calenders merging when they are registered under the same Apple ID. What steps should we take to avoid this problem? We would still like to be able to share the same music, apps, videos, etc. If we all get individual Apple IDs, can we still all use the same iTunes library we have on our computer without any pitfalls?
Thank you! A response would be much appreciated(:

You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs.  (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.)  This will prevent you from ending up with merged data.  You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.

  • Setting up iCloud After iOS 6 for multiple devices and one Apple ID

We have a shared Apple ID for our iTunes Store purchases.  We share a Mac, and we share an iPad.  Each of us has a separate iPhone.
How should we set up iCloud to enable us to download pics that we take with our iPhone automatically to iPhoto on our shared Mac?
How can we maximize the 5GB space in iCloud?
How can we share calendars if needed so that if I edit an item on my iPhone, it automatically updates it on our Mac and my husband's iPhone?
I want to be able to leverage "Find iPhone" but I guess you can only have one device set to one iCloud account, correct?  So if I lose my iPhone, I don't want all of our devices starting to ping at the same time (since the only one I'm trying to find is mine).
Separately, after upgrading to iOS 6, I lost my contacts, and my music.  All my text message contacts in current conversations, were changed from the Contact Name to Phone numbers.  And all the phone numbers now have a 1 ahead of them, despite the fact that I did not set it up originally like that.
    HELP!

  • What is the best way to manage multiple devices with one iMac - different users with seperate itunes accounts or one mac user with different itune logons and libraries?

    Hello
I have just purchased an imac which I am very happy with.  In our household we also have two iphones (one mine and one husbands) and one ipod (my sons). We all have individual itunes accounts set up on our previous computer (not a mac). We have sepereate apps and music, although there may be the odd occasion where we would like to share a song (if this is possible) across devices.
I am just wondering the best way to manage these devices using the new imac.  Should I create individual accounts to logon to the imac, then from within these launch our own itunes accounts and sync our devices with these.  Or should I be using one version of itunes, logging on to this with our different itunes usernames and storing things in libraries.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I am presuming that we cannot share downloaded apps and music between accounts because of the copyright issue,
Though I'm no copyright lawyer, as long as it's within a household, you can share content among users. Such sharing is, absent specific language preventing it not present in the iTunes Store terms of use, generally considered to be "personal use". So you can share apps and music amongst your users on your computer and with their devices. You just can't give any of that content to friends or relatives who don't live with you.
What I am not clear on, it making sure that this appears in each itunes account - is it easy to find the file storage folders that match the itunes accounts and what would these be?
The iTunes library and files are by default in a user's Home/Music folder. But you don't have to find the folder; in fact putting a file into the folder yourself won't add the file to iTunes. Just drag the file into the iTunes window. iTunes will copy it to the correct location.
    Regards.
