Multiple devices with one iClould account - Please help

My husband and I use the same iCloud account. If we both do a back-up, get new devices (we're looking at upgrading our iPhones), and log back into iCloud, will all of his stored info show up on my phone. We don't want that to happen, but we would like to be able to share music/purchases. Is that possible? Or should we be on seperate iCloud accounts? Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Ideally you should each have your own iCloud account, that way you can each manage your own mail, contacts, calendars, documents etc and avoid unintentional deletions and unwanted editing. If there is information you wish to share between you, this can be done with a secondary account.
Having separate iCloud accounts, doesn't mean you have to have separate iTunes accounts, so whilst you keep your personal data separate, you can continue to share music, apps, books, TV shows, movies etc.

  • Multiple devices with one iTunes account

Want to use my Desk Mac as the repository of ALL iTunes items.
Have a MacBook Pro & MacBook Air (to use on the go).
    Everything is fully backed-up.
When I try to clean up my MacBooks and I delete an iTunes movie from them, will it be removed forever from my iTunes account and disappear from the Desk Mac?

Your iTunes collection is individual to computer, not in the cloud somewhere and synchronizing to your computer from there.  In other words, if you delete a file on one computer it will still be on the others until you delete it from there.  Likewise, if it is on one computer that is not a guarantee it will be on other computers. The closest to this is some of the automated downloading Apple does if you buy things from them.   You will just need to make sure your desktop is really up to date before wiping your media from the other computers.

  • How to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with one iTunes account

We recently received iPad 2's for Christmas and was looking for some advice on how to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with One iTunes Account (Apple Id).  I have created or attached other e-mail addresses to our apple id but do not know how to use them on the new devices.  Our home MacBook Pro uses our main apple id for FaceTime.  The iPads have been setup with the main apple id w/o being able to use FaceTime and iMessage.
    Please Help...
I appreciate the help and support.

    P and V-
If you are trying to connect to someone with a different Apple ID, I think all the devices should work, but one at a time.
The problem is when you try to connect between two with the same Apple ID.  Once the calling device tries to make the connection, it finds the second device to be "busy".  That is where each needs to use a different E-Mail address when setting it up.
On iOS devices, when you press the Home button to exit an App, the App may still be active in the background, even when the device is sleeping.  If FaceTime or iMessage is merely being active that way, it may be enough to "tie up" the E-Mail address.
From the Home screen, double click your Home button.  You will see a list of recent Apps along the bottom of the screen.  Press and hold on one of them until they start to wiggle.  You will then see a red minus sign on each.  Pressing the minus sign will remove an App from the list, and stop it from working in the background.  (Click the Home button to stop the wiggling, and again to hide the recent Apps.)

  • Can I have multiple devices on one iCloud account

can I have multiple devices on one iCloud account? Like a iPad and Mac Book Pro
If so how can I do this?

Sure. That is what iCloud is meant for, so you can keep your devices synced.
When you set up iCloud on the devices, use the same Apple ID on all devices, then the iCloud account will be the same.

    Hi,
Check the iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section > Bandwidth setting.
iChat needs to see a Minimum of 128kbps to do 1-1 chats in Video
For 3 and 4 way chats it needs 384kbps
Set the Bandwidth to 500kbps if it is set lower.
Also check the speed you are getting from your Internet supplier.

If i have multiple devices with my icould account can they all read my text messages?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
They can all share your iMessages, just make sure the settings on each device are set to send and receive from the same numbers and addresses.

Settings > iCloud > Sign in with the desired Apple ID.
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Sign in with the desired Apple ID.
The two above can be different Apple IDs, mine are.

My husband has an iPhone and I both iPod with one itune account.
How can we keep out personal settings and information seperate on the cloud?

Yes, there is a way to use the new apple id with iMessage.  First, go into your settings on your iOS device and click on Messages.  Then, click on recieve at in the messages settings.  You can then click on your apple id at the top and signout.  After, log into your new account.  Your other option is to click add another email and enter your new email for iCloud.

  • Help needed with iMessage on multiple devices on one iTunes account

Hi, please can someone help.  I have an iPhone 4S and my wife has an iPhone 4, we are using iMessage with one Apple ID with no problems (I presume as the messages are sent to the phone number), however I have purchased both my daughters an iPod Touch each for Christmas and want to set up iMessage for them so we can all message eachother.  We will all be sharing one iTunes account so can share music / movie / app purchases.  How do I set this up?  Thanks in advance.  Richard

However, when I connected my "fresh" iPad, it immediately started to sync (set to automatic sync), and started to put all my 100 or so iPod Touch apps to my iPad....They were all checked.
It's been a while since I connected a fresh iPad, but I believe that doing a full sync is the default. Stopping the sync and changing what apps you wanted was the correct procedure.
So, next time I connect the iPad, it "knows" which apps need to synced, and does not try to sync "all" apps?
Correct. I do that all the time with my two iPads, each of which have a different set of apps, music, videos, etc.
    Regards.

  • Multiple BlackBerry devices with one BIS account

    Hi,
I'm planning to get a second BlackBerry and I want to use it together with my current one (not at the same time of course). My provider (O2) supports up to three devices for one plan (they'll send me copies of my SIM card for the other devices, so they all can be active at the same time), so that's no problem. However, I also want to have both devices connected to my BIS account, so my mails will be pushed to both devices at the same time, and I want to be able to use BBM on both devices at the same time. I'm afraid that when I connect my new BlackBerry to my account, the old device will be disconnected automatically.
Has anyone tried that before or does anyone know where to find information about this matter?
    Best regards,
    Jonas

Well when you said copies of the SIM card, are they just giving you extra ones, each with a different SIM number? Each SIM card has a unique number associated with it so it should work.
Actually now that I think about it if it's a copy of the SIM card with the same phone number then I don't think it will work. Like you said before if you switch devices the new one will be active. I think if it's a different SIM card with a different telephone number (like an additional line on the account if you're on a family plan) then it should work.

  • What is the best way to manage multiple devices with one iMac - different users with seperate itunes accounts or one mac user with different itune logons and libraries?

    Hello
I have just purchased an imac which I am very happy with.  In our household we also have two iphones (one mine and one husbands) and one ipod (my sons). We all have individual itunes accounts set up on our previous computer (not a mac). We have sepereate apps and music, although there may be the odd occasion where we would like to share a song (if this is possible) across devices.
I am just wondering the best way to manage these devices using the new imac.  Should I create individual accounts to logon to the imac, then from within these launch our own itunes accounts and sync our devices with these.  Or should I be using one version of itunes, logging on to this with our different itunes usernames and storing things in libraries.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I am presuming that we cannot share downloaded apps and music between accounts because of the copyright issue,
Though I'm no copyright lawyer, as long as it's within a household, you can share content among users. Such sharing is, absent specific language preventing it not present in the iTunes Store terms of use, generally considered to be "personal use". So you can share apps and music amongst your users on your computer and with their devices. You just can't give any of that content to friends or relatives who don't live with you.
What I am not clear on, it making sure that this appears in each itunes account - is it easy to find the file storage folders that match the itunes accounts and what would these be?
The iTunes library and files are by default in a user's Home/Music folder. But you don't have to find the folder; in fact putting a file into the folder yourself won't add the file to iTunes. Just drag the file into the iTunes window. iTunes will copy it to the correct location.
    Regards.

  • Divorcing multiple devices from one itunes account

We have one Apple ID / iTunes account with multiple devices attached. I would like to divorce all devices and have each member of the family with their own Apple ID/itunes, but don't want to lose the content (music etc) that has been accumulated over time. How do we do this?

Your iTunes collection is individual to computer, not in the cloud somewhere and synchronizing to your computer from there.  In other words, if you delete a file on one computer it will still be on the others until you delete it from there.  Likewise, if it is on one computer that is not a guarantee it will be on other computers. • Multiple cloud with one iTunes account

My wife and I share an iTunes account so our iPhones just show up as separate devices.  Can we set up two iCloud accounts withing this one iTunes account so that we can back up our iPhones to the cloud independent of each other?

Yes, there is a way to use the new apple id with iMessage.  First, go into your settings on your iOS device and click on Messages.  Then, click on recieve at in the messages settings.  You can then click on your apple id at the top and signout.  After, log into your new account.  Your other option is to click add another email and enter your new email for iCloud.

  • Trouble loading multiple iPads with one iTunes account

I am trying to load the same exact information from ONE iTunes account to multiple iPads (4-6). I was able to sync the app and information I needed to ONE but when I try plugging any of the other iPads into my computer NOTHING happens. The computer doesn't recognize that I have plugged in the iPad nor does the iPad recognize it is plugged into the computer. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to use the same Apple ID for all of them. One has been synced and I am logged into the same Apple ID but the other 2 have been reset so they are like "new" iPads but my computer won't detect them.

  • How to use multiple devices on one itunes account

I have one itunes account, three iphones and one itouch.  How do we use the same itunes account be not share data, pictures, contacts etc?

Connect the iOS device, select it from the left column under "devices" and just don't check those items in iTunes:
Un-check the appropriate boxes for Contacts, etc. You can set these individual preferences for each iPhone and iPod Touch.
