Multiple Digital Signatures on one PDF file

I have been trying to establish a means of allocating multiple signatures against one PDF file so as to have several people approve a issued document or documents. When ever I try it I find that the latest approval makes the previous one obsolete. I expect there is a simple solution to the problem.

The only thing I've found is the 3rd party program solution. CoSign is the name of the product I see most often referenced. Mind you, I am looking on behalf of my users/customers who have documents with multiple signatures they've saved inthe past, but cannot do it today. It appears that either Microsoft (these are Excel and Word documents they are referring to) produced a security update that changed this, or a 3rd party program is no longer effectively working.
For reference, I've been actively searching the internet for days for an answer - unfortunately, I've only found 3rd party programs referenced. Which I could have been more help.

  • Multiple digital signatures in one file

    I have a client who wants me to combine 4 different forms into one--then--require a digital signature by the same person after each independent form. So that would be 4 digital signatures total. And all identical. I'm using a different name per each field so there's no conflict.
    It appears to work fine until I have it submit dynamically with a PHP script via email inbox.
    When I open the PDF (having crunched the info back in from an FDF) the data is there EXCEPT the digital signatures.
    Can someone point me to a tutorial?
    Best regards,
    Mare

    Hi Mare,
    You cannot merge files and expect that the digital signatures will be preserved. When you sign a file you are signing all of the bytes in that file, and only that file. Once you combine files you are creating a new unsigned file. If someone were to sign the new file they are signing all of the bytes in the new file, not just some of the bytes. There is no "page level" signing in PDF files, only whole file signing.
    You can however put the signed files into a Portfolio file. A Portfolio keeps the files separate. Think of a Portfolio like a file cabinet in the physical world. Just because you put different files into the file cabinet drawer, they don't merge.

  • Multiple digital signatures in a pdf form?

    I'm creating an adobe pdf form that requires multiple approvers (one after the other) to digitally sign the form. However, once the second person digitally signs the form, the first person's signature will become invalid because the addition of the second signature is not signed by the first person.
    Is it possible to digitally sign the pdf form excluding the signatures?  and how to allow multiple signature in a pdf form while ensuring the form integrity?

    Hi,
    I doubt that the addition of a second signature actually invalidates (the red X icon) the first signature, but rather it shows the signature as Valid with Changes (the pen & yellow triangle icon). Technically, that is the correct signature status, but because it caused so much confusion, beginning with version 9, we've changed the user interface and stopped indicating changes to the PDF if the only change is a subsequent signature.
    If on the other hand you are getting the red X for the first signature please let me know as I'd be curious to see the file.

  • Multiple Digital Signatures in one Form

    Hello
    I have an Interactive Forms that requires the digital signing of 6 different users. There is a control under the Web Dynpro Native named : Signature : Sign and Lock which allows multiple signatures but I am not able to use it correctly.
    I need to associate text fields in the form to a certain signature so when the user signs them they are locked BUT but I need to be able to have other text fields open so another user can sign the form. It is only when the second user signs the form that the remaining text fields are locked
    Any idea ?

  • Multiple digital signatures from one person

    I have a PDF form that has 10 pages, each page has a Signature field.
    I want to put this form in the WorkSpace, and route it in a workflow process, eventually route it to the user who is supposed to sign it.
    But I don't want him to sign 10 times (one for each page).
    Is it possible to let him only sign the first page, and all the other 9 pages get applied with his signature automatically?
    How to do that?
    thanks

    You could have a process that leverages the "Digital Signatures" functionality of LiveCycle.  You could apply the signatures on the server side.  You would need to make sure that the signer's digital certificate was imported into the "Credentials" section of the trust store.  LiveCycle needs access to the P12 or PFX file to create the signature.
    I am not aware of any way to automate the signature process on the client side.

    This video details how to use the new Sign & Certify panel for digital signatures, including the new Time Stamp Document tool, in Acrobat X Std. and Pro.

    I wanted to add a scanned pdf signature to a W-9 form, and I changed the preference in Security as you suggested, but the new icon in the top tool bar is grayed out, as are all the choices within the Sign & Certify drop down. I watched movies, and looked at forums, and no one has this grayed-out issue. I have been trying to figure this out for an hour, and everything I find is a dead end.

  • Pdf fillable form - multiple digital signatures

    I have a fillable pdf form that requires multiple digital signatures. Is there a way to send the form to multiple parties and merge it back to one form upon receipt of the signature from each party? Does that be accomplished with a javascript or do I need to use a different software? Thank you.

    That's not how digital signatures work, so the answer is "no". When multiple people need to sign a document, they need to sign the same document in sequence.

  • Scanning multiple pages as one pdf file

    Hi Im using a Macbook Pro 10.9.5 and am trying to scan multiple pages and save as one pdf file.  One suggestion is to use image capture.  However, when I try to do this it says no camera or scanner is detected but it does not give me an option to copy multiple pages.  Any suggestions.  I have tried lowering the resolution but still have no luck.

    Hi SusieG1026,
     Are you sure to select  file type Correct as text in image capture window?

    Hi mdtolbert54,
    There is a program that comes with the printer called the IJ Scan Utility that can assist you with scanning multiple pages into a single PDF document.  To do this, please follow these steps:
    1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key.
    2. Start typing IJ SCAN UTILITY. The search window opens as you type. Once the IJ SCAN UTILITY is displayed, please select and open it.
    3. In the Canon IJ Scan Utility window that opens, click SETTINGS.... in the bottom right of the window. The Settings dialog box appears.
    4. Click the DOCUMENT SCAN option on the left pane of the window.
    5. In the SAVE SETTINGS section of the window, you will select the save format and location of the document you are about to scan.
    a.) In the FILE NAME field, specify the name you would like to give the file. By default the filename will begin with IMG; you can remove IMG and change it to whatever you would like to name the file.
    b.) In the DATA FORMAT field, use the drop-down arrow to select the PDF (Multiple Pages) option.
    c.) In the SAVE IN field, please navigate to the area where you would like the file to be saved once it is scanned in. By default, the file will be saved in the MY DOCUMENTS folder.
    6. Once all settings have been selected, click the OK button at the bottom of the window to save the changes. The IJ Scan Utility main screen appears.
    7. Click the DOCUMENT button. Scanning starts. Click the CANCEL button to cancel scanning if needed. Scanned items are saved in previously selected folder location specified in the SETTINGS... window.
    If you find that you need advanced scanning options such as adjusting resolution, brightness, contrast, saturation, color balance, etc. in addition to the options selected above, please click on the SCANGEAR button on the IJ Scan Utility Main screen, then adjust the items as necessary.
    Once the items above are set for document scanning, in the future, you will only need to launch the IJ Scan Utility, then press the DOCUMENT button to perform the scan (unless you want to make changes to the settings).
    Hope this helps!

  • Error Message When Merging Multiple PDF Files into One PDF File

    Good Morning,
    I have a problem with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I am trying to merge/combine multiple PDF files into one PDF file, but I keep receiving this error message:
    Does anyone have a fix for this? Thank you!

    To fix:
    Provide a unique name for each form field. This includes the individual PDFs fields. As you intend to combine/merge no field name in each of the individual PDFs can be the same.

  • Writing multiple BLOB (PDF) records into one PDF file

    I currently have a procedure that writes an individual BLOB pdf row and outputs it to a PDF file, however I would like to write multiple BLOB rows into one PDF.
    Oracle version:10g R2.
    Does anyone know whether it is possible to do this?
    Here is my code, I was hoping to use a cursor FOR LOOP to read the BLOB records. The BLOB records do successfully load into a new PDF file, however when you open it the PDF only the first page is viewable. I am assuming the issue is to do with the PDF format rather than writing the data out to the file. I.e. the Page numbers etc.., incorrect formatting of the PDF?
    declare
    -- Test statements here
    b BLOB;
    amount BINARY_INTEGER;
    file_handle UTL_FILE.FILE_TYPE;
    l_pos INTEGER := 1;
    l_blob_len INTEGER;
    l_buffer RAW (32767);
    l_amount BINARY_INTEGER := 32767;
    file_name_ VARCHAR2(200);
    pattern_id_ VARCHAR2(200) := '5555555';
    pdf_path_ VARCHAR2(200) := 'PDF_OUT';
    cursor get_blob_recs is
    select pdf from mds_remote_pdf_tmp;
    BEGIN
    file_name_ := to_char(pattern_id_)||'.PDF';
    file_handle := UTL_FILE.FOPEN(pdf_path_,file_name_,'wb');
    FOR rec_ IN get_blob_recs LOOP
    l_blob_len := DBMS_LOB.getlength (rec_.pdf);
    l_pos := 1;
    WHILE l_pos < l_blob_len
    LOOP
    DBMS_LOB.READ (rec_.pdf, l_amount, l_pos, l_buffer);
    UTL_FILE.put_raw (file_handle, l_buffer, FALSE);
    l_pos := l_pos + l_amount;
    END LOOP;
    END LOOP;
    UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(file_handle);
    end;
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    David.

    I guessed there was more to a PDF file format than just amending the BLOB objects!. I think I'll have to create a function with an IN param containing the PDF file list, and invoke a Java class to merge the PDFs in the OS.
    My requirement is to record the history of when a hand written form was completed. E.g. a user might complete half a document one day, and the rest of the document another day, therefore I want one PDF with two pages of the same form at different stages of completion. These forms are currently being created as two separate PDFs, and the problem is I am restricted to displaying only one PDF!
    Thank you.
    David.
