Multiple docs - same window - Acrobat 9

Acrobat 8 had a Preference in Documents "Show Each Document in its own Window". This is now not available in Acrobat 9 - to which I just upgraded this morning.
THIS IS NO IMPROVEMENT.
Now I have tons of "Adobe Reader" objects in the Windows taskbar, and I don't know which is which document! Does anyone have a solution to this terrible change in functionality?
TIA

  • Acrobat X -- Opening multiple pdf's in same window

It appears from the forum, this problem was there in Reader 9.
I migrated from 8 to X and find there isn o setting as in 8 for opening inthe same window..
But then why in the window tab, cascade and tile are still there?
    Can someone urgently help?

You are complaining about the new user interface. Adobe is following Microsoft Guidelines. Microsoft will need to change their guidelines before Adobe changes the application. Alas, I don't have Steve Ballmer's email address or telephone number for you to reach him at.

  • Open all PDFs in same window option in Acrobat 9?

All my PDFs open in separate windows/acrobat instances. There used to be a feature in option to allow all to open in same window. Cant seem to find it in verison 9.

You're correct. I think that was the switch between SDI (single document interface) and MDI (multiple document interface). In 8.x the ability to switch was there but in 9.0 it appears to have gone the way of the dinosaur. :(

  • How do I display multiple pdf documents in the same window?

I am sure that this question has been asked many times before, but I have searched the forums and the online help documentation for nearly 45 minutes without a satisfactory answer.
I have just installed the trial version of acrobat pro and I want to open multiple documents in the same window but I can't seem to find out how to do it.
    Can someone tell me how?
    Thanks

This is the worst thing to happen to acrobat, in my opinion.
The clutter that it creates on my computer and the fact that i cant even see the document title when I have a bunch of them open (because the task bar is too full) is unacceptable.
I never would have changed from Acrobat 8 if I had known, and now I cant switch back (company license).
The latest thing i can find about addressing it is here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405108&sliceId=1
    which was in november 2008....
why hasnt any thing else been done about it?  I just spent 45 minutes being sent to different departments over the phone, only to be told to submit a feature request.
Please do this if you havent already:

  • Open multiple pdfs in one acrobat window

There are many things annoying about Acrobat, but the one that really gets me is that the option to open multiple pdfs in the same window, rather than splattering them all over the toolbar, apparently has been removed in the latest versions.  I have been using Foxit for pdfs for the past few years and am only now returning to acrobat because we've purchased a piece of software that requires a plugin that works only in acrobat.
Tabs are the proper solution.   How long ago did Firefox shake up the browser community with tabs, 15 years ago?   Where was Acrobat?   For a while, they bodged together a preference that would keep them all in the same window (no tabs however), but even that is gone.

You can make a feature request here:

  • Multiple Documents in Same Window

I hate bothering people with such a trivial question, but this is driving me nuts...
I had been using Acrobat 9.0 Std and opening several documents within the same window, and toggling thru the docs using Ctrl+Tab.  Somehow, something changed and now each doc opens in its own window and to switch between docs, I have to use the Windows cmd: Alt+Tab.  On at least three separate occasions, I've tried to find an Acrobat setting to get things back to the way they were, but I can't seem to find one.
Can anyone help me with this trivial little problem?
    Thanks ahead of time.

Well it must be that I'm losin' my marbles... 'cuz the About info says it's 9.1.2.
You sound more confident than I... so I'm goin' with the lost marbles hypothesis.
    Thx again... --JM
Actually... another theory... this is a work computer and I don't manage it.  Perhaps I was using 8.x and the I/T people upgraded it to 9.x.  Just a thought.

  • Multiple installations of XI 3.0 on the same Windows server

    Hi,
is it possible to have multiple instances of XI 3.0 installed on the same Windows server? I know that I can create seperate database users for the repositories and that I can have different ports configured for CMS. I'm concerned about the registry and whether a second installation would overwrite the registry for the first installation or if there are anyother show stoppers.
    Thanks,
    Matt

Not yet, I know our product group is looking at this but currently only 1 per windows server. They are now supporting XI3 on top of XIR2 or other products known as side by side install. I don't have any type of ETA and wouldn't expect it soon.

  • Open doc URL: unable to open the report in same window

    Hi
I'm trying to open a report using open doc url with "swindow=same" but still it opens in a separate window. This happens only when I use JAVA viewer. it works fine in ActiveX and HTML but I want this in JAVA viewer as i'm including this page in my JAVA application and it should open the report in the same window. I tried using "<a>URL</a>" and also target="_self" by HTML interpretation for that object but still the same problem. I'm unable to open the report in the same window by using JAVA viewer for Crystal Reports in info view. Please help me!!!
Envirorment Details: Crystal Reports 2008 SP3, BOE XI R3 SP3
    regards
    Raghavendra.G

I have tested that myself and It seems that HTML interpretation does not work with the Java viewer.
I have also tried using a hyperlink containing javascript
    eg.
    javascript:window.location.href='http://www.sap.com'
but the java viewer seems always to launch a new window before processing the command.
I would recommend to open a case by SAP support ( httP://service.sap.com/support )

  • Acrobat 9 Pro: Open all documents in same window - don't want!!

In Acrobat 7 there was a setting under
Edit/Preferences/Documents that said "Show each document in its own window"
    I had this unchecked.
I can't find this setting in 9, there is no such option (at least what I can find). I don't want all documents in separate windows, I want them in the same window! How do I fix that??

But that's just plain stupid! I don't want 20 windows open when I drag 20 files into Acrobat for printing. I just want one.
I wonder why they have done it like this.
There are a lot of things missing from Acrobat 7 that I wish they hadn't removed. I thought upgrades was supposed to make a program better, not worse! Now I have to find work-arounds for a lot of things that was easy before and now doesn't work at all or works but takes a lot of time to do.

  • Unable to open same form with Multiple logins on Windows IE8

    Hello All,
We recently upgraded our instance from Jinitiator to Java Plugin Version 1.6 U18.
After that we are unable to open same form from different logins on a same windows machine.
    the following is scenario.
    1) Login as X user into EBS and open a sales order form. -- Every thing is fine.
    2) On the same machine in another browser window, login as X user again and open Sales order form. --- No issue here also,
    3) On the same machine in another browser window(Keeping the above forms open), login as Y user and open sales order form ---> Form opened from Y user is fine, but, both forms of X user are exiting Oracle applications with message" Your logon session become invalid. Exiting Oracle applications".
we have encountered issues with opening an attachment from a form, and it is resolved by Unchecking "Enable the next generation java plugin" option in Java control panal --> Advanced -> Java plugin. This workaround done according to note: 290807.1
But the multiple login issue is not resolved.
THis isssue is in our PROD and we are loosing customers. Please Advice ASAP.
    THanks.

    Hi Rama;
It was working before? If yes what have you been changed on your system?(patch etc) You have same error on IE 7 or firefox? Did you check apache log file for more details? You have any FRM error code?
Please check those settings on your IE8:
1 - Go to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Select Sites > click on button "Sites": add the url of ebs.
2 - Go to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Select Sites > Custom Level > Disabled XSS filter.

  • BI 10g multiple installation on same windows machine

    Hi All,
I have a requirement where in I want to install OBIEE 10g twice on the same windows server. Can we achieve this by installing it the second time as another OS User? What are the steps that we need to follow in this scenario?
Most importantly, Is this approach supported by Oracle?
    Thank you so much,
    Krishi

    Hi Krishi,
Yes, I think we can install OBIEE 10g on the same windows box multiple times. However, there is some manual effort needed to change the port numbers of each NQServer, sawserver, javahost,oc4j instances to resolve port conflicts.
I do not remember oracle saying that this kind of design is not supported though.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Dhar

  • Why can't close open multiple docs in Word 2010 in multiple windows while having the option to close them out while keeping Word open?

End User of mine is wanting to open multiple docs in Word 2010.....first initial glance I thought it was a PICNIC issue. But when addressing it she has it set up to NOT "Show all windows in the taskbar" that option is unchecked so that way she
can close out docs in Word and not actually close Word. But with unchecking that box it only stacks the docs it won't display them in mutliple windows. This is not the case with Excel as she has the option enabled to "Show all windows in the taskbar"
but yet the enduser still has the option to close out the spreadsheet and keep Excel open. Is there anyway to keep that second smaller x in Word to close out the docs but yet open in multiple windows like Excel does?
    Please advise!
Thank you and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi VyDrix13,
What will happen if you check the option of “Show all windows in the taskbar”?
If you want to closing document and keep Word open, the alternative is to click File > Close, right there under Open and Save.
You also can add the Close button to the Quick Access Toolbar.
If there is anything that I can do for you regarding this issue, feel free to post back.
    Best regards,

  • Preview opens multiple pdf's in same window

Since upgrading to Mavericks, Preview frequently (but not always) opens pdf's in an already open window.  The preferences are set to open each pdf in its own window, but that is being ignored.  If I could easily separate them, it would not be such a problem, but I can't find a way to do that.  How do I fix this annoying bug?  Thanks

Without this radio button in Preview's preference selected files are opened in separated windows:
If you don't want groups opened at the same time to be in the same window unselect the radio button below it.
OR, select the last radio button.
