Multiple downloads of same album.

Twice now, when I am downloading a album I bought off itunes it downloads 3 or more copies of the same album. This has happened twice now with music I ordered in advance of release. Anyone else have this problem? I don't really mind having to delete duplicated music, but I do object if I am being charged 3 or 4 times for the music I ordered only one.

Thanks, but I don't think that the songs have different album artist names. There are approximately 12 tracks on Viva La Vida, however what my iPod seems to have done is copied this album 4 or 5 times to create many duplicates, even though iTunes clearly states that there is only the one copy.
Also, like I said, my iPod tells me there are only 2 or 3 tracks on each copy of the album, however showing the album contents reveals the whole album in its entirety (12/13 whatever songs)so for example, my iPod list looks something like this:

** Multiple Duplicates Of Same Album **

Ok in iTunes it says that I have one copy of 'Viva La Vida' by Coldplay, however when i sync this to my ipod, for some reason it comes up with 4/5 copies of the album.
When I highlight one of the albums it says that there is only about 2 or 3 songs in the album, however when you open it it lists all 11/12 (can't remember how many) tracks. Like I said it repeats this 5 times and iTunes still says I have only the one copy.
I have tried deleting the tracks off of itunes and then importing them, since I have the CD and then syncing my iPod back again, but it still insists that there are 5 albums there.
Please help as its really annoying.

Compilation albums show up as multiple of the same album, how do I remedy this

I have a compilation album that i recently redownloaded from iTunes. Rather than all the songs by the different artist being in album they are split into about 20 differenet albums each has the 1 or 2 songs that each artist has on it and nothing else. I've gone through and removed the album artist from each song and differnt album and made sure that they are marked as a compilation album but they are still split up. The other compilation albums I have on iTunes are working fine its just this one. Am I missing a step? Any help will be greatly apprciated

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things.

Newsstand Multiple downloads of same magazine issue?

Since taking out a subscription to two magazines through Newsstand the new issues of the magazines show up twice in the library as being able to be downloaded. This is annoying as it clutters up the library and they cannot be deleted. I have tried downloading both and then deleting one, but it still shows the issue as being available to download. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?

I seen this before. As a guess only, is it possible that the provider of the podcast has changed something about it and so iTunes now thinks it's a new podcast and so it downloads it?

ITunes Match with multiple encodings of same album.

I ripped my CD collection using ALAC for home stereo playback and 256kbps AAC for my iPhone (which through iTunes Match been made unnecessary). Now in iTunes match, each song shows up twice. I'd like to file a bug report on this with Apple, but it does not seem like there is an easy way to do that.

Why has the same album been paid for twice??

Can someone point me in the right direction re iTunes store and an album purchase I've now seemingly paid for twice?
It seems my daughter has downloaded the same album twice on two separate devices (iPhone 5c and iMac), both logged into the same iTunes account, and I've paid for it twice!! Nothing against Ed Sheeran but come on Apple....the same Apple ID on both devices and I've paid for the album twice now??

If it's the same version of the album that you've been charged for (e.g. the album doesn't have 'standard' and 'deluxe' versions which she's bought) then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

If she wants to redownload purchases then what she can redownload for free will show in the Purchased tabs in the iTunes, App Store and iBooks apps on her phone, and the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on her Mac's iTunes

Bought same album twice??

I pre-ordered an album and then when the album became released, I tried to download it. It said the link had changed so I d/l it from iTunes shop.
After this I tried checking if there were any other d/ls and it downloaded the SAME album again...
Am I going to get charged twice?

HT1473 How do I get iTunes to download an entire album in one file versus splitting it into multiple files with the same Album Title?

I have added several CDs to my iTunes files, several Albums were added in the form of multiple files of the same Album title with random songs listed, but not the entire album in one file.
I have tried to reassemble the Album into one file, but could not find a way to do so.

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things.

Then I imported into Aperature, created new versions, one for each snapshot, then cropped each snapshot, so each snapshot is seperate in Aperature.
You want to find each snapshot separately in Aperture? Perhaps you could explain more, how you want to organize your photos. William pointed out albums to group versions of an image. You could also assign keywords to mark special occasions like birthdays, weddings, etc. You could assign faces to find photos of persons by name. You can use the search field in the browser to search for photos by face, date, keyword, etc. Aperture is really great for accessing images in many different ways. There must be a way to access the images in your Aperture library just like you want to.
Then, I tried to organize the ton of photos into projects and it won't let multiple versions of the same original photo be in separate projects.
That is, how Aperture works. All versions of an image need to be in the same project, because they are sharing the same imported original image file. Aperture tries to save your disk space, by by not creating image files for the edited versions. Versions are just a set of instructions how to produce the rendered image, when you want to edit it or to export it. Unless you are working with the version, it will live in limbo and it will not exist as an image file. So all versions are kept together in the same project with the original image file that is necessary to render them as an image.

Hello, I have songs that show they are "Waiting" for download from the cloud but they are greyed out. Some songs in one album are done others in the same album will not download. It is not a time function because i have been working on this for weeks. I have allowed my compter to run for days and the songs are still not accessible. I have a Match subscription and Match is working. If I click on the "Genre" link the greyed out songs show that they are ready for download from the cloud but I cannot download them. I have downloaded over 1500 other songs, so I am trying to understand what is going on here. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

I did think about that and if I have to I will do that, however there are about 50 songs. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times and I am sure that I have the latest version. It fails right away but I can click on the cloud download icon and download the song that it failed on ... therefore it is not that song "or any one song" causing the issue. Any ideas?

How do I consolidate multiple displays of the same album art

When I import music into my music library, I see multiple album displays for songs in the same album. How do I consolidate all to one album display?

After downloading music and dragging into iTunes I end up with multiple copies of the album on my hard drive. I do have the "copy files into iTunes library" checked. When I try to erase one of the copies I end up with red ! in iTunes library.

When I try to delete one of the copies of the album and go back to itunes and try playing a song, I get a red exclamtion point next to the song with an error message saying itunes cannot locate file. My questions are, Does Itunes literally make a copy of the song? If so , How do you know which file to delete?

Sony's own entertainment software on the Vaio plays merry **** with iTunes, worse there's no telling when it will kick in.
First head over to the Sony Vaio site and get the update for the software, that will stop it from messing with the iTunes database/library files when you connect your iPod.

You can't even delete from the server in mountain lion.... I did it from my old mac, but it didn't work. I keep having 11,000 new emails that can not even be deleted in blocks!!!

Multiple artworks for songs of a the same album

What I have are multiple icons of the same for each song of a particular album, e.g. if I have 10 songs of an album I might have 5 pieces of the same album artwork for every 2 songs. I'm wanting to link the songs all together for a particular album under one icon artwork. How is this done? Furthermore, if I were to choose 20 songs to be linked together under a particular piece of artwork, how would this be done? Finally, in the Info on any particular song, what does the checkbox 'Part of a Compilation' actually refer to?

It refers to the song in question and the album it's from. In the Gracenote database the album is referenced as a compilation (either of songs by different artists that are all on one album or that the songs are all from a best of or greatest hits type album). Personally I wouldn't regard single artist Greatest Hits or Best of albums as compilations but many are marked as such in Gracenote.

Multiple Entrys for the same Album

I ripped an Album (Till Broenner, "Oceana") to my Computer. Everthing is working fine, but iTunes shows it as 5 (!!!) separate Albums.
I tried to change the Album information in order to bring it all together again, but it was no use.
iTunes even recognises that it is all from the same Album, including the correct Track number, but shows them nonetheless as 5 different Albums with exactly the same Informations and the same Cover.
This is annoying and I have this problem with a couple of other Albums as well.
What can I do to stop it???

This should fix it...
Select all the tracks in iTunes (click on the first and then hold down shift and click on the last).
Select File, Get Info
Make sure there are entries for Artist, Album Artist, and Album (if not, type them in)
Finally, click on Options (near the top of the Get Info window), check "Part of a compilation", and set that option to Yes.
(I know it's not a compilation in this case, but some of the tracks are 'featuring' another artist, so I think that's what the problem is)
