Multiple duplicate calendars

Hey - can anyone help! I’m going crazy here!
I have a G5, and iPhone and an iPad and I’ve been all day trying to sort out a syncing problem. I followed all the Knowledgebase articles, and even chatted to an Apple MobileMe expert - so now I need to turn to the Apple community for help!
When MobileMe (MM from here on) syncs with iPad and iPhone I get six copies of each calendar, although iCal on my Mac only has one of each.
I’ve tried deleting all the calendars, trashing caches and pref files, deleting and reinstating MM accounts on the iPad.
Address Book however sync’s fine - all devices show the same data. So why is calendars showing six copies of the same info?
It’s driving me nuts!
Thanx, Andy

Didn't have the duplicate Help menu problem, but in case this helps, here's what worked for me:
1- In the MobileMe preference panel, switch off Synchronize with MobileMe (in the Sync tab) and Sign Out of MobileMe account (Account tab).
2- Restore ~/Library/Calendars folder from Time Machine to the state it was in just prior to installing Snow Leopard.
3- In iCal, delete the duplicate calendars, leaving only the 'correct' one. (Determining which one to keep can be tricky: in my case I deleted the incomplete 'duplicate' calendars, where some appointment entries were missing).
4- In the MobileMe preference panel, sign back into to MobileMe (Account tab) and switch Synchronize with MobileMe: Automatically (in the Sync tab) back on.
5- In the Sync tab of the MobileMe preference panel, click Advanced… at the bottom right. In the resulting sheet, select any existing entry of your newly upgraded Mac's name and click Stop Syncing Computer…, and confirm that you wish to Unregister. (This clears out the old baggage.)
6- Then click Reset Sync Data… bottom left of the sheet, then select Replace: Calendars. The direction of replacement is important: choose to overwrite MobileMe with your computer.
That's how it worked for me. All seems to work nicely now. Note that in the last step, it seems counter-intuitive to me to overwrite a nice, clean MobileMe calendar with the slightly dubious copy, rescued from duplicates, on my Mac. But I could not get the overwrite to work from MobileMe to my Mac. I had to sync from my Mac to MobileMe.
Hope this helps someone… I'm sure there's a cleaner, more elegant way to resolve this problem, but there you go

  • When syncing multiple Google calendars to iPad, switching event to different calendar on iPad creates a duplicate in Google. Ideas?

When syncing multiple Google calendars to iPad, switching event to different Google sub-calendar using iPad creates a duplicate in Google.
Using Google account with the Exchange setup on an iPad mini. iOS up to date. I have a secondary calendar in my Google account for some appointments, and when I create the event on the iPad and it defaults to my main Google calendar, changing the event to the secondary calendar caused the following:
    1) at first, the event totally disappeared from my iPad. Scary! Reappeared when I went into Gcal on the web, opened the event to edit, and re-saved. Phew.
    2) Failing to re-create error #1, I switched a new event from primary to secondary calendar, and it then appears correct on iPad, but is duplicated on the web. The duplicate remains even after deleting the changed event on iPad, refreshing Gcal, etc.
Just curious if anyone else is having this problem or has discovered a workaround or fix.

When you open the Calendar app, tap the button at the top-left corner (Calendars).  That should reveal all the calendars you have available, and you can select/ un-select any or all of them.
If you don't see your 2nd GMail calendar listed, go into Settings/ Mail/ (account name) and make sure you've turned the calendar ON for this account.

  • Subscribing to multiple ICS web calendars results in duplicate calendar msg

I'm trying to subscribe to multiple ICS/iCal calendars that are published by a local hockey league on their web site. The link is actually to a PHP script that uses a query string parameter to determine which team's calendar you want. But when I attempt to subscribe to more than one of these in iCal, it says it thinks it's the same calendar! But when I do them each separately, they work fine. I can't figure out why and would appreciate tips, advice, etc from others who may have encountered similar situations.
The specific URLs I am using are:
    http://stats.siahl.org/team-cal.php?team=664&format=iCal
    http://stats.siahl.org/team-cal.php?team=316&format=iCal
    http://stats.siahl.org/team-cal.php?team=31&format=iCal
For now, I'm having to save these to .ics files and import them manually into iCal. This ***** because they won't auto-refresh... but I need to find a solution to this bogus "duplicate calendar" message...
    Any help is appreciated.

    cj,
If a subscribed holiday calendar is current and events are displayed far enough into the future you can use iCal>File>Export for one of the subscriptions. Then use iCal>File>Import on the previously exported file. When you import, be sure to create an unique name for the calendar. Now you can delete the subscription, and you can edit/delete the calendar, and rename the freshly imported calendar.

  • Multiple Google calendars on one account no longer sync with Palm Pre

Since the WebOS update in early Sept., the multiple Google Calendars that I own and which appeared on my Pre have disappeared.  I'm left only with the default account calendar.  The calendars which had appeared on the phone are still there in the pull-down menu on the upper right, so if I CREATE an event in a calendar on the phone, it's pushed to Google and then to my desktop calendar (iCal).  However, events which I create in different Google calendars are NOT pushed to my Pre.  This makes the Pre more than useless.  The best feature was Synergy and now it's broken.
I can work around by copying each event (I teach college and each subject's course calendar is listed publicly so that students can subscribe, and I can keep track of multiple subject due dates) to my default account.  That means that I have duplicate events listed in different calendars on Google, but only one event gets pushed to the Pre.  The other workaround is to use the browser to check my Google calendar, but it's not as convenient as using the calendar function of the phone.  And, where's the Synergy???
I really need a solution.  Before the update, the multiple Google calendar events all appeared on my phone and desktop and Google and I was very happy.  I hate this new situation.

Hello Sdswmr and welcome to the Palm forums.
I'm not seeing this issue on my Pre with webOS 1.4.5 installed.  If I create a calendar event, and select one of my other Google Calendars, that event is pushed to the correct calendar and I see it in Apple's iCal.  Similarly, if I create a new event in iCal, it shows up correctly on my Pre.
Have you tried removing all of your Google accounts and readding them?  What other troubleshooting have you done?

  • Tips on how to organize multiple iCloud calendars in iCal 5.0

Found some workarounds but looking for tips from others since I have not been using Lion and the new iCal very long.
    Situation:
I use iCal for work and have my own calendars and manage my boss's multiple calendars. An upgrade to Lion has thrown a monkey wrench as we now have to use iCloud to have read/write access to the calendars. The new look of iCal is very cluttered with all of these entries and color coding is not enough to be easy on the eyes to differentiate what is what. The new simplified look hides the master list of calendars which acted as a legend. Now in order to figure out what calendar an entry belongs to, I have to click to reveal the list of calendars and make a guess (due to the # of calendars the colors are used more than once) or click on the item and then edit for the details. The list of calendars is not very helpful as everything is under iCloud, both mine and the boss's, with no indication as to which belongs to whom. The shared icon being visible is a clue but not that much help. A subgroup automatically created by AppleID or the ability to create an iCloud group would be very useful.
    Work arounds:
Leaving the inspector open helps eliminate 1 click so now I don't have to click on edit to reveal which calendar and entry belongs to.
To make the calendar list more manageable, I manually reordered the calendars and renamed each one of my boss's calendars with their name on it.
Tips for those that have to deal with supporting someone who deletes entries without telling you:
I maintain a travel calendar for the boss and put the details of their trip (such as hotel information) into the entry but as their travel decisions are erratic, they often delete these entries when they decide not to travel for work then later notify me to cancel the hotel but the information is lost since they deleted the entry. Frustrating. I could keep a copy elsewhere, such as email, text file, etc, but I prefer the organization of a calendar. I created a duplicate calendar on my end that they do not have access to where I copy and paste each entry of their calendar into mine. This way, when they delete an entry in their calendar, I still have the trip info. I'm curious for those that deal with this sort of thing, is this the best practice? For example, is there a way to auto duplicate or create multiple entries without copy and paste? (For now, iCal does not appear to let you put the same event on multiple calendars.)
Does anyone have any other tips for organizing multiple calendars, especially in this sort of situation where you are dealing with the calendars of others? I would really like the month view or week view to be more understandable. The color coding just isn't enough. Is there a way to put the title of the calendar to appear in the entry for week/month view?

I just transfered all of my data over to iCloud today.  I run a summer college program and I had all of my calendars neatly ordered on my computer under Calendar Groups - and color coded.  It was a bit frustrating to see that I would not be able to organize them in this way on iCloud.  I like your ideas - they were helpful.  I hope they update and improve on this for us!

  • Mass duplicate calendars and events

Has anybody, including Apple, figured out how to mass delete multiple duplicate events in iCal and in iPhone's Calendars. .... And, how to avoid these annoying mass duplicates, i.e., without having to reset iPhone and iCal? This seems to be a syncing problem, probably in the resetting section of .Mac preferences, which may be the culprit in creating these mass duplications.

I had an issue with many calendar events being duplicated in Entourage and my iPhone. I'm running OS X 10.4.11, iTunes 7.7.1, Office 2008. This has worked for me (naturally, I take no responsibility for your data. These are the steps I ran through with Apple tech support for my setup and worked for me. I hope it will work for you, too).
    Solution from Apple as follows:
    1. Sync iPhone (if you have new items to sync with your calendar/contacts).
    2. Delete all of your duplicates from the contact list and calendar.
    3. Open iSync (under applications)
    4. Select Preferences (under iSync)
    5. Click on Reset Sync History (bottom of dialog box). Note: if this is greyed out, try connecting your phone to your computer.
    6. Open iTunes
7 Select your iPhone in the left side window
    8. Select the Info tab across the top of the main window.
    9. Scroll down to the Advanced section and check off Contacts and Calendars under Replace information on this iPhone.
    10. Click apply
    11. Click sync
iSync will now write the contacts and calendar information from your computer to your phone. Once this is done go back to the info tab in iTunes (step 9) and uncheck contacts and calendars in the Advanced section. Click Apply.
I hope this helps (and I hope Apple views this post and gives their blessing).

  • 8330 and duplicate calendar entries

For some reason I am getting duplicate calendar entries (of the same event) from multiple email addresses.  How to I stop this?  I'm using Google sync (working fine) but I get entries from my Hotmail, another local ISP and Juno.  And Juno doesn't offer a calendar that I know of.  8330 Curve on US Cellular.  Some times just 2 dups sometimes 3.  I've cleared the Facebook calendar app on the 8330 (that is my Juno account)  But I don't use the Hotmail calendar and the local ISP email doesn't offer a calendar function.

    Hi Ridgeroader,
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
It sounds like the calendar invitations are being received in different device calendars. Each email account integrated on your BlackBerry has a calendar associated with it. If your receive an invitation in one email account and accept it, it will be stored in the associated calendar on your device. This KB article and this blog post should provide more information on dealing with multiple device calendars: http://bbry.lv/cBptUW and http://bbry.lv/bozTNY

  • How to delete duplicate calendar entries on N8?

     Hi,
I recently added a .ics file to add some calendar entries into my N8 calendar. But somehow the same calendar file was added multiple times and now I have 5 duplicate calendar entries for each day.
Is there a way to delete these calendar entries without deleting my old calendar entries? The .ics file was a fixture list of a club and has a lot of entries so deleting them one entry by entry is not an option.
    Thanks,
    Nakul

Normally the fastest and easiest solution is:
Go to calendar/ Calendars Menu/  Hide or Delete any calendars that you can see (leave Personal or any you use the most)
It did the job for me.

  • How do I "avoid" duplicate calendar entries on my devices?

I have an iPod touch, an iPhone 4, an iPad 2 and a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.2.  My software/IOS is up to date on all devices.  My main calendar is my Google Calendar.  Whenever I sync, my devices show multiple double calendar entries.  Now, I have found a large amount of information on removing the duplicate entries which has been helpful.  However, I am having difficulty finding an answer as to how to eliminate this in the future.  What I want is to be able to go into iCal, on any of my devices, and see the same calendar (which it appears I currently can) without ever having double entries for the same events.  How do I need to have it set up?  Yes, I have searched ad nauseum; but, I can't find my answer.  Maybe I am just incompetent.  Any help and/or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

O.K., first, thanks for the response Mistimp.  Here is my specific situation, my google calendar is my "main" calendar and is what populates iCal.  I hope that makes sense.  I want to be able to make calendar entries on any device either in iCal or Google.  I believe I can do that.  I'll have to check further.  If I'm not mistaken, the duplicate entries show up every time I sync.  Then, I have to go through the process of turning off a calendar and then re adding it. I want to avoid that step and just avoid duplicate entries forever.

  • Multiple family calendars

I left a family share with my brother and started one with my wife and son.  I now have multiple family calendars on both my Mac and phone.  The normal method for deleting old calendars does not work on the family calendars.  How do I remove the old family calendar?

I was able to logout and log back in to iCloud services.  The old family calendars went away.

  • How can I combine multiple icloud calendars into a single published calendar?

I have several calendars in Ical where I map my activities and schedules. Like many I need several calendars to categorise events.
Now, I'd like others to see when I'm free and when I'm unavailable. For this, I'd need to find a way to copy multiple Icloud calendars into a single one for publishing - and the published calendar would also have to sync to any update I make in the original calendar.
Any way to make this happen? Any third party app? Tried a couple - they were outdated and / or cumbersome.
If only there was a "smart calendar" tool in Ical …

It worked - up to the crucial point: after combining icloud calendars into one "on the machine" calendar, the latter is ready for going public. But of course - this public calendar will only contain the .ics files and will not sync for updates from the icloud calendars.
    And that's what I want.
If this problem is not possible to solve with the software available in the Mac - is there any known third party solution for this?
    (Apple: "smart calendars" please!)

  • How Do I Get Rid Of Multiple Duplicates AND Relocate Numerous Files?

Basically I'm fed up of iTunes.
A couple of months ago, i had a problem with my itunes library due to a message regarding the iCloud. This practically deleted my whole iTunes library and forced me to relocate every single track, which took a lot longer than it needed to.
I was already annoyed with iTunes by this point, until yesterday around 1/3 of my tracks were still unlocated, however I could cope with this because I had the majority of my songs, despite this not being ideal.
Yesterday I was informed I needed to update my iPod, naturally I did. Then...this is when I start to get mad, my iPod crashed, then restored itself COMPLETELY back to factory settings, removing my songs and all my apps. I reopen my iTunes library to see that, that has also restored and NONE of my music is there.
Now, after a bit of fiddling, I have an iTunes library full of songs which have been duplicated twice or even three times, to add to it, hardly any are actually located. It's not just as simple as redownloading from iTunes, because I expect half my library is music from CDs. So now not only am I faced with trying to get rid of all the duplicates, I also have to locate all the songs (I have checked the preferences and redirected it to My Music > iTunes - basically what it should be) and I have to get rid of all the songs that I didn't want in the first place such as old songs that should be long gone off my iPod/Library from now.
If anyone could help, that would be great, because I'm so tired this time-consuming mess my iTunes has become.
    Thanks in advance!

    Broken Links
It depends a bit on why things aren't where iTunes expects to find them but if they are in sensible Artist & Album folders in some common location then my FindTracks script should be able to reconnect them to iTunes. FindTracks uses some fuzzy matching routines and searches for multiple potential locations within a media folder. For more details see this thread.
    Duplicates
Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)
I intend at some point to improve DeDuper so that when there are multiple duplicates, where at least one is connected to a file while others are missing, it can throw away the entries to any missing files, however the current version needs all duplicates to have been repaired first.

  • How do I get rid of duplicate calendar entries in my notifications?

I managed to get rid of all my duplicate calendar entries on my calendar.  I unchecked all but the two calendars I use.
The problem is that when I go to my notifications screen, under "Calendar", it still shows all my entries like three times.  How do I get rid of this?  It takes up all the realestate on my notifications.

Sounds like your syncing Calendars over the air with iCloud, as well as with a supported Calendar application on your computer. Doing both will duplicate your entries, so do one or the other, not both.
