Multiple duplicated populated playlists...

At this point it has been going on for months...don't laugh too loudly...demented relative keeps me very busy.  Anyway, I can't take it anymore.  I have clouds beside everything like all the music is in the cloud.  Fine.  They all play.  I just don't have room for all this extraneous garbage.  Is it an iCloud or iTunes Match issue are a combo of both...explaining the two of EVERYTHING.  Can anybody 1) explain the glitch and 2) tell me what I checked that I shouldn't have! Thanks!

well, ive done that already.. But you see, Im setting up a internet radio station using automator to change playlists automaticly.. So I want a few different party shuffle playlists already set up so i can just trigger those at a sheduled time.
Maybe there is a way to switch the party shuffle input playlist within automator??

Is there a way to create multiple party shuffle playlists?? I would like to have a party shuffle for 3 or 4 different genres of music
If its not already possible, would anybody agree that this would be a good feature??

  • Multiple libraries/smart playlists for different disks, or sort by location

    Hey.
My iTunes music is physically stored on my computer's local hard disk, on an external hard disk, and on a remote server from which I stream online. When my computer is disconnected from my external hard disk or from the internet, I don't want to seeing unreachable tracks in my iTunes library; I'd rather have a list of songs which are available for me to play. I'd like to create multiple libraries, one for each disk.
Or I'd like to create smart playlists which automatically fill with content from specified locations (as opposed to content added by artist, duration, last playtime, etc).
Or I'd like to be able to sort my library based on physical file location.
As far as I've searched, this isn't yet possible. Anyone know how to make this work, or know how to suggest this feature to Apple?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. This worked but it doesnt seem to be consistent.. not sure if the fact that I have a smart playlist based on another smart playlist (only because I want 5 anded conditions + 1 or'd which is playcount=0) and hence something goes wrong?
Any better way overall to manage these?  I now have 4 pairs of these.
Also, any way to have a Smart Playlist that selects only video?  They have the Media Kind = Podcast, but no Media Type = Video..
    Many thanks,

  • Itunes match has duplicated my playlists

My Itunes match failes when trying to match songs with 8 songs left to go on my new Mac Mini but it will retry and retry and causes duplicate playlists in itunes and Icloud.
    1. How do I fix itunes Match?
    2. How do I delete Multiple Playlist quickly rather than one at a time?
    Thanks for the help

This has been on the discussion threads for a while now. Its done the same thing to me and I now have 76,127 copies and iTunes is totally unusable and takes 20minutes to just turn on. The only thing we can figure out is that it has something to do with the iPod/iPhone trying to sync when there is no network connection. Once it finally does get a network signal, it pushes all those thousands of times it tried to sync to the server at once which can cause thousands of duplicates. Once they are on the server your stuck because now they are saved on the server and you can't erase them. Many of us have been in touch with iTunes Match support but they wont answer us. The best thing to do right now is leave iTunes Match turned off. Once its off, the playlists should stay gone. You can even use this apple script to erase them for you.

  • Multiple MIDI Command Playlists

I'm looking to control my guitar effects, audio back tracks, and eventually lights with logic pro. I've seen how to write midi data and automate it, but that is just for one song. How would I have access to multiple files/songs of midi automation in a live setup. On triggering end, I would have a midi foot switch with about 3 buttons and program them 1: previous song 2: play song 3: next song. But how would I set that up in Logic to be able to use a midi controller to scroll through multiple Midi automation files? Is there a way to make a playlist of midi/audio tracks in one logic file?

  • IPod sync is duplicating all playlists - they multiply 2-3-4 and more...

I have the strangest thing happening here:
Whenever I sync my iPod Video 30GB now, all of the standard iTunes playlists and my own custom playlists are being duplicated 2, 3 and 4 times....most of the new duplicate playlists are empty but some have songs or video in there - sometimes they match the original playlist, and sometimes they don't.
My total available free memory space does not change, the syncing is just replicating another new playlist for each of the playlists every time I sync.
Does anybody have any idea what could possibly be causing this?
    Insights are welcomed...
    Thanks much...

I am having this problem also. I have searched and found many posts on the subject, but no solutions found.

  • Multiple Genius Mix Playlists

On my ipad after signing up for iTunes match I now get multiples of each genius mix.  They all show the same album art and name, but I have 3 of each of them instead of just one.  When I try turning iTunes Match off and on again it doesn't fix the problem.  Anybody else have this problem.  I have it on my 1st generation iPad, 3rd generation iPad and new iPad Mini.  Any thoughts?

i'll try that. also wondering if they will randomly mix when merged like that? ideally, it would be great to pick two+ songs then tell genius to create a playlist and watch is pick em and mix them itself.

  • Selecting multiple songs for Playlist or deletion...

this one's probably pretty easy, but how do you select multiple songs in the Music Library to be able to use in a new Playlist or to delete...I can't seem to find the right keystrokes for this....

Command-click to select multiple items or click the first one and Shift-click the last one if the items are consecutive.
Then press Delete to delete them or choose 'New Playlist from Selection' in the File menu (Shift-Command-N) to create a playlist of the selection.
You can find most shortcuts in the 'Keyboard Shortcuts' of the' Help' menu.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to delete multiple songs within playlist

Hi does anyone know how to delete multiple songs within a playlist on OS or Mac??  I have reached the limit in songs I can play offliine and would like to delete some of the songs that are on my playlist.  For example the last 100 songs.  I dont want to indiviually sit here and delete them one by one.  Thanks Ray

On ios i think the only way is to edit the playlist by clicking on the three dots. I dont own a mac, but on windows you can hold control and select the songs you want to delete. Or select a song, go to the last song you want to delete, hold shift and click on the song.

  • [Desktop] Select and Add multiple artists or multiple albums to playlist

Add a way to add an artist and their albums/songs to a playlist, or be able to select multiple albums to add to a playlist.like you can select multiple songs to add to a list. This may have been asked before, but after digging around I couldn't find much on the subject. there are times I find it would be easier just to select multiple artists or albums artist to a playlist instead of just a song.

    Updated: 2015-08-04Marked as new idea.

  • IPod Touch 64GB 3rd Gen duplicating some playlists

This is very strange. I recently noticed that there are duplicate playlists on my iPod. It is only a few and my library does not have any duplicate playlists. I've switched to manually manage my iPod and deleted all my playlists (after trying just the duplicates). Then I turned on auto-synch and the same playlist are again duplicated on the iPod and still not in the library. I have had to delete the single playlists in my library and that seems to have stopped the duplicates on the iPod. Curiously, I now have playlists on the iPod whic are no longer in the library. This is very confusing and I can't seem to get the two sychronized now. I've now resorted to deleting my whole ipod to see what happens. Anyone know ***?

OK, the following worked, in case someone else runs into a similar problem in the future and finds this:
Download the itunes .dmg from here; http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Install, reboot, start iTunes, sync. iPod got stuck at "Downloading safe browsing data from Safari".
Go to the iPod's settings -> Safari and delete the website data.
The sync proceeded as it should, this time transferring my music onto the iPod. Next sync worked for pictures as well (i.e. not the bug turning everything into "other" and giving an error message), this time getting past the safe browsing data step without any problems.

  • Please help Itunes and multiple IPhones and Playlist

    Ok,
The other day my son (11) was "cleaning up" some junk software on our main computer, which we sync 3 iphones and 2 ipods to.
Well when i opened Itunes all of our Playlist are gone, the music is all there but playlist are gone, they are still on the devices thou because we have not re-synced them all.
Because when we synced one IPhone it was not recognized as the same itunes or computer, so we have not synced anything else.
Any help would be most welcome
    MIke

Well I guess this sort of solves the problem but it now brings into question this "Family Sharing" function and authorizing up to five computers. Personally I don't understand the logic behind that. If it's my account, it should accept it in my mind. (Maybe someone is listening...) i can understand not allowing unrelated connections. I will also say, again if someone is listening, the Apple Help Files are just as bad as anyone elses.
Appreciate the reply, I can stop doing things now.....

  • My iPod touch duplicated a playlist 1000's of times

    Happy New Year!
I created a new playlist on my iPod touch 3rd generation at work yesterday.  I have done this numerous times before without any shenanigans.  I played the playlist with no problem.  This morning I went to listen to it again and found that there were over 8000 ( yes 8000 ) duplicates.  I can't confirm because I haven't been able to find the original but all of the duplicates are empty.  I'm running iOS 5.0.1 and Lion on my mba and iMac.  I think that pretty well covers it.
    My questions are:
    1.     Is there any way for me to do a mass deletion of all these duplicates?  One at a time doesn't seem like any fun at all.
    2.     I don't think there is anything I did that caused this but is that possibly not the case?
    3.     Is this an iOS issue or something to do with iCloud?
I am using iTunes match if that might have anything to do with it.
This seems very curious to me.  I can hardly wait to see if anybody has an idea as to what caused this.  And I'll be very happy if someone can please tell me how to get rid of all those empty playlists.
Thank you for your comments and help in advance.  I've never had any apple device do anything like this before.
    Regards, Richard
P.S.:  I sync the iPod to my mba.  Thanks to iCloud it displays the 8000+ playlists as does my iMac.  Oh, and the name of the playlist is AKG ( asian kung-fu generation ) if that might have some kind of bearing on the situation.  Thank you.R3

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • Multiple Songs in Playlist

Managed to add a playlist to the iDVD main menu, but it only play the first 2 songs of the iTune playlist. The playlist contains 6 songs.

    Welcome to the forums.
In older versions of iDVD, the user was limited to a half-minute of audio for the menu, and so there was a challenge to make that music loop smoothly. You will have very patient viewers if they will be spending such a long time (6 songs) looking at your menu. My suggestion is to make those songs into a movie or slideshow they can play from the menu.
More specifically, you may have run into the max limit for menu items.
