Multiple DW IDE Instances

Not sure what topic this would fall under...
We use DW to edit independant HTML files.
Is it possible to launch separate instances of the DW IDE for
each file?
Instead of opening all files inside a single DW IDE.
Thanks

Excellent. That is good to know.
Even if you could, I wouldn't have recommended it as DW is
such a memory
hog.

  • Best Practices for Multiple Forms-Reports Instances (WebLogic) on Win2008R2

    Hello all,
I’ve succeeded in creating two instances of Forms/Report (FR) in WebLogic and am looking at about 5 or 6 FR instances on a one Windows Server 2008R2 box. I understand each instances will have its own folder (FR_Inst1) structure under the Middleware folder. Currently I have two instances configured each with its own Home (FR_Home1 & FR_Home2) and Domain (FR_Domain1 & FR_Domain2). Both the of the separate FP applications function correctly.
Can multiple similar type instances share a single Home (FR_Home)? Can multiple similar type instances share a single Domain outside of the WebLogic Domain, such as FR_Domain?
    Thanks,
    Ron

Thanx for the reply! I read through the documents and they are very good at explaining how to install the different components individually. I still can't find much on installing them together. I hope it's not just going to be a trial and error thing.
So far I've installed done the following successfully:
    Installed 10.3.5 weblogic
Forms and Reports 11g on top of 10.3.5
I've created an additional managed server for our ADF applications.
My next step is upgrading the JSF to 2.x. I would have to stage patches 12917525 and 12979653. I'm afraid it will break the forms and reports though. Any ideas?

  • Multiple AD FS Instances/independent AD FS Servers in one domain or forest

    Hello together,
Is it possible to install multiple AD FS Instances on independent AD FS Server in one Domain or Forest? If yes, is that supported from Microsoft or best practice?
    Best regards
    Ulrich Greshake

    Hi Ulrich,
Is it possible to install multiple AD FS Instances on independent AD FS Server in one Domain or Forest?
Yes, it is possible. Actually, multiple instances in a single ADFS farm are very useful for fail-over.

  • Multiple AD FS instances in single forest

Hi, thank you for reading this. I have a little design question about AD FS. The current situation is like this:
    One forest, root domain: domain.lan
    domain.lan contains all user objects
    Three child domains: 1.domain.lan, 2.domain.lan and 3.domain.lan
AD FS 2.0 server is deployed in domain.lan
Customer wants an extra AD FS instance for testing purposes.
I do find some recommendations on the internet, but I still have a few questions:
Is it true that only one AD FS server (or farm) per forest can be deployed?
I read that I can have multiple AD FS instances, but not in the same domain. Should I move the current AD FS server to 1.domain.lan (Because the current AD FS server also automatically supports the child domains) and add an AD FS server for testing
    purposes to 2.domain.lan?
Is the configuration as suggested in point 2 supported by Microsoft?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Baksteen

    Hi Mike,
thank you for your response. I also find the link you provided and it is says that it should be possible, but that only one instance can be active.
In this thread the same user (Mylo) says it is possible:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/3c8903c8-d6d6-471d-9966-b23c83172a40/active-directory-federation-services-question-can-i-run-two-seperate-adfs-instances-in-my-domain
In this thread they talk about one instance per forest:
    http://serverfault.com/questions/554199/are-multiple-adfs-instances-needed-when-federating-to-the-same-party-multiple-ti
In this link they say it should be possible with some downsides:
    http://serverfault.com/questions/280311/is-there-any-downside-to-having-two-adfs-servers-in-a-domain
In this link they say it is not possible:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/613/t/82093.aspx
So, I am a little confused now. My questions therefore is, can I have multiple AD FS instances in a forest/domain? And is it supported by Microsoft?
    Thanks again!

  • Multiple SQL Server Instances and MSDTC / AGs usage

    Hello,
We are in the planning stages of migrating from SQL Server 2008R2 to 2012 to be running on Windows Server 2012, and I have a question about MSDTC, Availability Groups and multiple sql instances on a single box.
We have a couple of databases that rely on MSDTC so we know they can not participate in Availabilty Groups, but most of the other dbs we use DO NOT need MSDTC so I wondering the following:
    1) Can I install two instanaces of SQL Server on a single box and have one using a local DTC, and therefore unable to use AGs, and the other instance on the same box NOT use DTC and therefor CAN use AGs?
    2) If I can't do this, I assume each instance would need it's one machine. Is that correct?
    Thanks
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
    As described in this
article, for a given availability group, the availability replicas must be hosted by separate instances of SQL Server residing on different nodes of a WSFC cluster. Thus, we cannot configure a availability group for multiple SQL Server instances that reside
    on a single node.
In addition, MSDTC is not supported by AlwaysON Availability Groups because
transaction atomicity/integrity cannot be guaranteed. For example, while
using a MS DTC transaction, after failover, the new principal contacts MS DTC. But MS DTC has no knowledge of the new principal server, and it terminates any transactions that are "preparing to commit," which are considered committed
in other databases. However, using Availability Groups together with DTC does not result in an unsupported SQL Server installation. For more information, please review this article:
Cross-Database Transactions Not Supported For Database Mirroring or AlwaysOn Availability Groups (SQL Server).

  • Multiple portal server instances

    Hello,
I have one solaris box with JES 2005Q4 installed. I need to set up portal application development environment for multiple developers. I'm thinking about having multiple portal server instances. Is this configuration possible? Should I create multiple directory server and access manager instances as well or is it possible use one with multiple configuration instances?

Installing multiple instances of portal is only possible if you are installing in a Solaris 10 Whole-Root Zone. Create a new zone for each developer and then install all of the necessary JES components in each zone. This includes Directory, Access Manager, Application Server, and Portal.

  • How to deploy across multiple mid-tier instances

I was hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction. We have two portal/webcache mid-tier instances on release 10G AS 9.0.4.2. On the ias_admin home page I tried to create a cluster and add the two instances to a cluster but it won't let me do it for a portal type install. If that is the case, how do people handle deploying such things as portlet providers and data sources across multiple mid-tier instances? Here is the concern from our Portal admin:
As discussed, the inability to cluster the mid-tiers will cause issues in production as we try and keep deployed portlet providers with their required configurations and datasources in synch. While deploying and configuring 1-2 mid-tiers for a given portlet manually is do-able, the chance for out of synch components or configuration settings is amplified for each additional mid-tier. If we manually deploy 5 mid-tiers and accidently mistype the datasource for example, we'll have a random error that will occur once requests are attempted to be serviced by that mid-tier. This will make troubleshooting difficult. We really need some way to deploy and configure settings one time and have these items propagated to all the other mid-tiers.
What is the best way to handle this scenario?
Regards and thanks for any info,

Jar files are not stored on the file system
Temporary files are held in bpel/domain/default/tmp folder, whereas jar files in the dehydration store for clustered deployment.
If you configure BPEL (not AS) cluster - files will be propagated to all nodes.

  • Multiple Oracle 9ias instances on single host

    hi all
i tried installing more than 1 instances on a single host, under different oracle home......but i am facing certaing strange errors. Can anyone tell me what are the things that we have to specifically take care of while installing multiple instances on single host, i mean any port issues or anything else??
    please help
    thanks

    hi all,
i have almost the same prolem here.
i have created two instances other then OC4J home. i have also deployed two different applications on the two different instances. but when i try to run the application it gives Page not found exception! for both the applications.
now when i stop one instance then the other instance runs properly and doesnt throw any error!
there is definately no problem with the ports as internally the ports allocated to both the applications are different!
if anybody has got any idea what might be the problem then it will be very helpful for me!
    thanks in advance!!

  • Connecting multiple ColdFusion 10 instances to a single Apache 2.2 server

This is replicated from StackOverflow's "Server Fault" site. The CF community there is under represented, so I'm posting here too.  Sorry for "cross post".
This is on Windows 7 Home Premium edition.
I have got two ColdFusion 10 (updater 2) instances: "cfusion" (the default one), and "scratch".
I have got a single instance of Apache 2.2 running.
Within Apache, I have set up two virtual hosts, each of which needs to be served by a different ColdFusion instance.
Each of the CF instances serves files fine via Tomcat's internal web server. Apache serves vanilla HTML files fine too. So both CF instances, and both virtual hosts separately work OK.
I can get wsconfig.exe to connect either one of the CF instances to the Apache server, and serve CF files via Apache & that instance.
However I cannot find a way of connecting the second CF instance to Apache as well, so that both CF instances are conected, each serving one of the virtual hosts. WSConfig doesn't seem to understand the notion of "multiple CF instances", and the changes it makes to the httpd.conf (via mod_jk.conf) does not seem to be implemented in such a way as to accommodate multiple CF instances talking to a single Apache instance, or multiple virtual hosts. I freely admit to not being confident enough with how mod_jk (or even really httpd.conf) works to be able to guess if I can change stuff to make it work.
If I try to add the second CF instance using WSConfig, I just get a message "the web server is already configured for ColdFusion". Be that as it may... not the instance of ColdFusion I want to connect it to! If I remove the existing connector to whichever instance is already connected, I can then connect the other one no problems. Not that this helps, but it demonstrates that the CF instance can connect to Apache.
This all used to be fairly straight fwd under older versions of CF and JRun :-(
The only docs I have found are on the "Connect multiple Apache virtual hosts on a web server to a single ColdFusion server" page (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ColdFusion/10.0/Admin/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811cbf364104-7fd 5.html), but that specifically only deals with a single CF instance. There is no equivalent page for multiple CF instances.
I'm kinda hoping I can move some of the mod_jk config into my virtual host entries in httpd-vhosts.conf (this is how it used to work for JRun), but I've no idea what to put where.
I think I've covered all the necessary info here? If not, sing out and I'll add more. Thanks.
    Anyone?  Cheers.
    Adam

The answer to your question is Yes, a single mediator can invoke two service calls at same time as well.
First, define your service references in the composite.xml
Once you have done that, you can add any number of routing rules for each operation defined in the mediator. In your case, you will need to add two static routing rules within the same operation in the Mediator file. You can also select whether the calls will be sequential or parallel by selecting correct value in the dropdown inside the routing rule. Each routing rule will invoke one service reference in your case.

  • A Cocoa window which is used multiple times (for instances of a class)

    Hi everyone,
I develop with newest xCode using Obj-C, Java and Cocoa.
It works perfectly to create a window and connect it to some code: I just design it, and connect it to a class which has been instantiated previously.
What I need now is a window, which is used multiple times. Means that I create a class where the window should be connected to, from which I create multiple instances.
I've seen that it works to create a class in Obj-C and just generate the window by code: it works to generate multiple windows. But how would I be able to design a window with InterfaeBuilder for a class which is not yetinstantiated? A class for which I create the instances while my app is running?
Thanks a lot for your answers!
    -Lucas

Like PeeJay says, a custom window controller seems the way to go. Try creating a subclass of NSWindowController, with header something like this:
    #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h>
    @interface MyWindowController : NSWindowController
    IBOutlet NSTextField *infoField;
    -(void)setInfoText:(NSString *)str;
    @end
The implementation of the setInfoText would be something like:
    -(void)setInfoText:(NSString *)str{
    [infoField setStringValue:str];
Create a nib file with your window in interface builder. Drop the header file for your custom window controller into the interface builder window. Set the custom class of the nib's File's Owner to MyWindowController. You can then hook up the window and infoField outlets from File's Owner to your window.
In the body of your code where you open a new info window, add something like:
    MyWindowController *windowController=[[MyWindowController alloc] initWithWindowNibName:@"nameOfWindowNibFile"];
    [windowController setInfoText:@"Whatever"];
    [windowController showWindow:self];
If you are going to have an undetermined amount of these custom window, it might be a good idea to store the window controller instances in a mutable array, rather than retaining instance variables for each one.

  • Need help to create a login for maintenance of a single database in a multiple databases, single instance environment

    Hi,
We are in the process of consolidating several databases on a single instance of SQL Server 2012.
Databases are developed by outside vendors; they have to be able to install and support their databases but they shouldn't be able to do any thing with the other databases.
When I tried to migrate the first database, the vendor told me that on the former server he used the sa account in some batch.
    On a previous thread
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/dc1f802f-d8de-4e2b-87e5-ccb289593fb7/security-for-multiple-applications-on-a-single-sql-server-2012-instance?forum=sqlsecurity
it was suggested to me that I create a login for each vendor and that this login should map a user in their respective databases.
To test, I simulated the process in a test database:
1 - I create the login and I scripted the command:
    USE [master]
    GO
/* For security reasons the login is created disabled and with a random password. */
    /****** Object:  Login [M02_Test]    Script Date: 2014-12-02 16:23:58 ******/
    CREATE LOGIN [M02_Test] WITH PASSWORD=N'ÈS^y¡¶=Å€"+y¤j|úªhÖféÎЕœEu
    c', DEFAULT_DATABASE=[M02], DEFAULT_LANGUAGE=[us_english], CHECK_EXPIRATION=OFF, CHECK_POLICY=OFF
    GO
    ALTER LOGIN [M02_Test] DISABLE
    GO
2 - I create the user and scripted it
    USE [M02]
    GO
    /****** Object:  User [M02_Test]    Script Date: 2014-12-02 16:29:41 ******/
CREATE USER [M02_Test] FOR LOGIN [M02_Test] WITH DEFAULT_SCHEMA=[dbo]
    GO
    Questions:
What should we do with te scrambled password: is it saved as it was entered and should it be kept somewhere in a safe place?
Would that do the job for the vendor who used sa before?
    Thanks for your advice

I'm not sure why you would save the script. Why not create the login, in one way or another give the vendor the password. Keep the login disabled until needed.
I don't recall exactly what we said last time, but it occurs to me that the application setup things on server level. Jobs is the prime thing that comes to mind, but there could be other things.
Now, here is an important observation. As long as the vendor's application was alone on the server, that was OK, and it was OK to give the vendor sysadmin rights. In this situation this is less OK, and as we said, you should only give the vendor db_owner
    in the database.
But the vendor will need to tell you what they do on server-level. They should know this - unless they sell their app as a "alone-on-a-server application". (And there are indeed such applications out there, even from Microsoft.) But there is a
risk that they will bill you extra if you make their installation more difficult.
Maybe you will have to give some vendors sysadmin for the installation, but in such case, you should ask them why they need it. If they don't, give them db_owner, and they will have to find out their hard way. (And you don't pay them for learning
    their own application.)

Hi Larry, Thanks for your reply along with Muppet Mark, If I changed the color settings originally it was not my intension, I was simply just opening the next project to work on and viola’ “missing profiles”.
Attachment (picture) 7 was my last setting for color prior to your email, and yes I was messing around with this last night comparing it to one of our old G4’s, so I can’t remember where it started out before I got my hands on it.
Attachment (picture) 8 is my current settings based on your email recommendations.
Attachment (picture) 6 is the message I receive when I open any files created prior to these changes I just made. However after I open and resave the file I no longer receive this (picture 6) message.
My question is will my color be back to where it was before the problem started last week. In looking over one of the files I opened (I design/build transportation maps btw) most of the color is where I usually have it set however some colors were fractional as if they were converted from spot colors. SO I’m not sure what to do except go through all the known colors and make sure they are where I usually would set them, or do you have a better suggestion.
Oh by the way – for all you guys that are helping lunch is on me at McDonalds on Michigan St in Grand Rapids, MI!!

  • Is it recommended to support multiple DBs and Instances on same RAC nodes

Customer wants to install multiple databases on the same set of 3-nodes essentially making all these database 3-node rac databases on Sun fire servers.
Is this a recommended approach? What are the pitfalls?
Can this be done effectively without using local containers (which are not supported for RAC)?

The Customer would save significantly on Licencing if he does not have to add Processors into the three nodes.
Processor Based Licences don't count the number of databases and instances, only the number of CPUs (Processors).
Setting up seperate Clusters requires that many Processor Licences.
However, using multiple Standard Edition RAC installations (Linux and ASM) would have been another option.
I have run multiple databases on a single Cluster in 9iRAC. I am sure that there are customers running multiple databases in a single Cluster in 10gRAC. You'd have only one CRS and one ASM Home in each node but it may be possible to have separate Database ORACLE_HOMEs in each node as well.

  • How do I get a refnum to multiple open excel instances?

I'm using ActiveX to control interface to Excel2007 from my application (Labview8.5). Unfortunately, if I call Open Automation multiple times with 'create a new instance' set to false, a reference to the same instance of Excel is returned. I would like to get a reference to each open Excel instance. I can use the vi 'Get Task List' then use the vi 'Quit Application' to exit. Problem is if there are changes to be saved then Excel does not exit.
I know I can get all the processes with .NET, but am unsure how to save and exit using .NET.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Rickie!
I looked into how you might save and exit programs using .NET, and was able to find this information on saving files using .NET and I was also able to find this information on manipulating files using .NET commands.
As for ActiveX, you will need to see if you can assign GUID values to each instance of Excel that you have opened.  In some instances the GUID value assigned to multiple instances of a program will be the same, so this may not be possible.  I would look more into this and get back to us so we can keep working with you on this.

  • Multiple views without instancing

Ive seen the question asked about this. and it doesnt seem to
be widely used. using multiple cameras diplaying multiple views of
one scene, at one time, without having to use instances. why so
many opt not to use it I dont know. when it should be used. on a
very standard basis. for those that play the playstion or xbox
systems. you have most likely seen a game where a second window
opens up. You can do the the exact same thing in shockwave 3d. so
why not use it. Say you have a character walking thru a house. and
the camera is following that character. You can take a seperate
camera, in a seperate part of the house. Showing another person
coming from behind the first person in a second window displaying
both windows at the same time. You can actually create mood and
atmosphere. There isnt a single shot in movies or tv that cant be
created in 3d and therefore shockwave 3d, be it split screens or
not. So why not use it. This is like if all the people that use
flash opt not to use flash video. when that is one of its strongest
features. well here is a very simple example of it

the plugin install "process", not the size. I agree with you that
the size is not so much of an issue particularly now broadband is
more widespread. But the number of dialogue boxes that must be
click through, the 'age request', the toolbar option, the redirect
to shockwave.com.... it's appalling and I am embarrassed when a
client needs to see that, when we pitch a shockwave game to them.
    It's a
major hinderance to selling shockwave work to clients.
    I
really don't understand how you think adding a second camera
view would inherently raise the 'standard' or make a project more
entertaining. In almost all cases, unless it was for some specific
purpose that was relevant to the project, I think the user would
think, "what's that extra camera view for?".
